I've been trawling the forums and I can't find step-by-steps on installing Vegacomb. I'm a tech, but know next to nothing about installing ROMs. I'd greatly appreciate a pointer to the instructions.
Thx.
ha! with you there, android people seem to love their spartan instructions delivered in a very certain geek speak.
we'd go mad at anyone in the x86 hackintosh community who tried to pull that, but hey ho..
had my vega android thing for a week and flashed 4 types of rom after decoding the instructions. basically there are a number of ways depending on the rom you wish to use.
here's a good guide, but they wont let me post an outside link google tabletroms ..vegacomb instillation guide.

Okay, I'm definitely new to this, so I've been doing a ton of reading to learn all I can about roms, etc. I notice that everyone says if you use hard spl, you are less likely of bricking your device. I'm not sure I understand quite how it works, when to do it, what it does, etc. I'm running the stock rom, and I see that I need to do a hard flash first, and then follow the noob's guide to flashing. I've searched the forum, and I've downloaded the latest version of hardsplicev7...but before I do anything, any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys...

How to Hard-SPL
Are there any detailed instructions available on how to Hard-SPL? I've tried the various threads in xda but can't seem to get anywhere. Obviously, I'm doing something wrong ... looking for detailed instructions with all the files or maybe perhaps a video showing the steps.
Thanks in advance
ilikepu....it turns out, after a lot of reading and studying, you don't need to hard spl to run open touch. I am HAPPY to say, I finally installed open touch v3.0 biggie, and I am blown away at how much better it is than the stock rom. I feel like a kid at Christmas!
hohoeyo, there are some threads with info on how to hard-spl.

you should try 4.0 i like it a lot
What's the difference between the 3.0 and 4.0??? Also, it looks like 4.0 doesn't have the touchflo and voice command. It's either one, without the other, or vice-versa
Hi all,
yes, I dont like people who join forums just to ask one question either, but I promise, as much as I am sure this question 'must' be covered somewhere, I have searched for ages on forums and youtube install videos to gain clarification.
So.. if you are feeling charitable, all I want to know is:
For a new vegacomb install on a machine ( a viewsonic 10s to be precise) with the stock rom (2.2), my understanding is that I would
1. install the modded stock rom (v2), and then (and here is where it confuses me)
2. I think install the file "VegaComb_HC3.2_Build9n.zip"
Thbis is important, as the specific confusion is regarding 'eactly' which file to use from all the available ones.
I also believe that one could use "VegaComb HC3.2 9b Installer.exe " on its own, but with no video tutorials of this and, from my reading, several people having problems, I am assuming my steps 1 and 2 listed above would be the reccomendd route.
I would re-emphasise though if I may, that I would like to be 100% sure what actual file I should be using.
Thanks all for your kindness.
PS. I also have read that not all 10s's can be updated to vegacomb, but I only read this once. Though not a core part of my question I was wondering if anyone else had this information?

You have it correct!! But First, BACKUP!! original rom, just in case you have issues
1. Install modded stock rom
2. Install Vegacomb HC3.2_Build9n.zip
3. Install HC3.2_Build9n Update3.zip (install immediately after installing Build9n.zip no need to reboot)
If your new to rooting, make sure you read up on wiping data and cache, making backups etc.. before trying anything.
Then your good to go!!
I say back up your original because I have a viewpad 10s, and it would not work with any of the newer roms (Vegacomb 3.2, HoneyIce etc..) because of touchscreen issues. I found Corvus5 rom is the only one that behaves with my Viewpad, and only after I ran his calibration tool in the app drawer.
Good Luck Rooting!!

All ViewSonic ViewPad 10S (Tegra2 based) can be upgraded to VegaComb ROM!
But not ViewSonic ViewPad 10 (no "S" here). Because that is a completely different tablet that is based on Intel Atom and can run in dual-boot (Android+Win7).
And to understand the difference between 9n and 9b read the first post of VegaComb ROM thread again.
9n - "N" as in Normal system partition (UK/US residents, people with system corruption issues,..).
9b - "B" as in Big system partition (lots of languages, newer gapps,...).
Read it again and all will be clear.
Thank you
Appreciatte your kind responses.
Hadnt heard of the Corvus rom.. but then being new to this and not having received my 10s yet, I guess that isnt too suprising. Ill have a look at it.
Will certainly back up as suggested given the various levels of success reported (although I imagine more people comment when things dont work, than when they do).
I will reread re: 9n and 9b as I hadnt realised the difference you highlight. I hope I can work out what is most suitable for my Australian sources tablet.
Thanks again.

No Problem!!
Just take your time, read the tutorials, and know you can always recover it back to stock, if things get screwed up. Probably the hardest part, is finding a male to male usb cable to plug computer to tab to get started.
And while there is not a lot of postings in the Vega forums, there are some great people, Yani2000, Vujke025, Beegee1962, and others that are very knowledgeable, and kind, answering everyone's questions, and fixing problems.
Best thing you can do is hit the "Thanks Button" next to there post if they helped you.
Now go turn your tab into the monster even your ipad friends will envy!!
I updated with the following post in AndroidTablets.net, the post ROM Viewcomb Honeycomb 3.2.
it's very very easy
Ah, cool, you're the dev that makes the Honey Ice ROM, right?
Try posting in the welcome thread and get attention of the willverduzco moderator.
Good luck!

Why do you need installation instructions? It's the same as any other ROM. Custom recovery, factory reset, install ROM, install gapps. Reboot

because sir,
it reassures people who have never done it before....a small example...i am 43 years old and until feb of this year i had never used an android device, then one day my brother came over and gave me one and voila i was introduced to android and have never looked back..my point being...there are new people discovering android every single day...we are labeled....NOOBS...by the community...and for good reason,we know little if nothing about the devices we own...but as you....and maybe many people all over the globe were once also NOOBS you can understand that a friendly bit of info..like installation instructions...can go a very long way to helping people feel better about what they are doing...and save everyone who has to help them out,(when they maybe mess it up),wasting their time when i am sure they could/will have better things to do...capeesh...
There are tutorials EVERYWHERE. Xda, YouTube, blogs. This is not ROM specific. Why do we need to rehash the same things that are already published out there? Use the info that is already there. No need for us to rewrite it. Flashing Roms requires learning the lingo, the proper tools, and the willingness to learn how to recover from failure. This website contains more knowledge than you can imagine on these things. The onus is on you to learn what others have already provided.

Questions before buy Oppo 7
Hi
I love the paranoid rom, thanks a lot!!!
I have figured out that many questions is answered in change log, but as a not so experienced user i hope the community will answer me in this thread, by prose or by links, thanks!
Before i buy oppo 7 i like to ask a few questions.
- is headset play, paus, skip volume etc part of PA rom; when the screen is on, and off?
- support PA install apps on sd card, or can it move apps to sd card?
- what steps is recommended before i root and before i change rom to PA? Do i need to take some backup of important info? This question is due to possibility to restore phone to "original"

Hey all,
Just putting it out there as I just brick my Blu studio c because of lack of information, The BLU ADVANCE 4.0 (a270a) (v07) can used the Standard Xposed and frameroot (both can be found here, search) and they work fine!!!, Did the root yesterday, and Xposed today....
And Since I Bricked my good phone believe I was Extremely worried (and stressed when I clicked "DO IT") that I'd have another Brand new Brick for my collection....
Hope this helps someone out there...
And Hope XDA starts supporting a More Individualized BLU Series of Forums.....There's ALOT of BS info out there (I.E. 1st Brick), and XDA has been my "Go TO" to get stuff done for MANY years....
Mike
Hi Mike
As users we can not do very much, but we can try to document any stuff that we found about any strange phone we got on the Wiki.
For example I had wrote this little page for the Blu Advance 4.0 Model: A270A Type: 01 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Blu_Advance_4.0_-_A270A
Using the wiki is very simple and it does not have be a perfect article to start, it can be improved over time.

Ya I really don't have time to do stuff like that (I run a Development forum for Android), But your link is good, We Need to Get this On XDA and WIKI, I've done Hundreds of Roots/Flashes, On various devices over the years. and I'll admit the Blu Studio C is the First I haven't recovered from the grave, But I have Hope I did speak to the providerr of the rom for my phone and have been advised that the Rom is SPFlash Tools Compat (I have to wait till me T-Mo Throttle is over (34-36 Hrs to DL, Be Advised thos who are thinkiong Of T-Mo!)), If you check Needrom under the D860U (Memory Slipping again, But Check The Post for the Blu Studio C), He's the one that got me root rooted and When I tried to flash a Custom Recovery is When The Fail Started.... And the one that Provided the stock rom on Needrom.....
I'm thinking In general, We Need A Standard BLU sub forum like Galaxy and All them, Be Honest that C was one of the best phones I've Ever owned, I looked around but I don't have the Qualifications to Start A Sub-thread like I've used here many times, Or maybe I just dunno how, But even if I did, I don't have that knowledge... I'll learn and contribute when I can... But In the Future I See It's gonna be needed here...
And Although it's not the greatest BLU GOOGLE DEVELOPMENT on Google+ is a little help, But To Be Honest The Whole Internet Isn't much Help With this Brand,,,
Mike
Update
Also I just start getting Notif's of an "V08" update on The Advance 4.0, And I'm not doing it, So If anyone has, Please Let Us (me) Know....

Hi all,i was a member of XDA (rejoined now + tegra owners) and MIUI forums a few years back but forgot how to do everything with android (bloody drink):silly:
Anyroad, got an old Iconia A500 (ICS 4.0.3)
I've downloaded mighty Thors : (tegra owners)
CM12.1-Tegraowners_ROM_v7t1
gapps-5.0.2_a50x_TO
update-recovery-TWRP-rev2.0-beta4
trouble is i haven't the foggiest what to do next?
I know i need to root it (how?) i think i used kingroot on my Xiaomi note 2...would this work here?
I've tried Blackthund3rs root program and it infected me with chinese malware which took nearly a day to get shot from my computer (i wasnt happy)
I've also tried the 'easy method' on here..and it came up unsuccessful
I could do with laymans terms the procedure to root and everything else..
A step by step guide would be fantastic for divvies like me :cyclops:

Was this done? has anybody else done a nice simple one? I've tried reading through the forum but because of the back and forth i can't make head nor tail
A link to a sticky on how to do everything would be fantastic! or simply please post here...
Many thanks and i look forward to any replies...cheers

Another A500 user
I'm another A500 user in the same spot. Wireless stopped working properly and don't have an update to fix it since they stopped supporting after 4.0.3. That's what I have on mine currently. So I'd also like to know how to root it if possible and move past these problems! I've rooted another tablet before, and I know it's a very specific process of copying files and rebooting etc. But never done it on this Acer A500 and would like to keep it. Still runs great except no internet now. Some sort of common glitch, but I can't find any patches to fix it!
