Why do you need installation instructions? It's the same as any other ROM. Custom recovery, factory reset, install ROM, install gapps. Reboot
#stayparanoid
because sir,
it reassures people who have never done it before....a small example...i am 43 years old and until feb of this year i had never used an android device, then one day my brother came over and gave me one and voila i was introduced to android and have never looked back..my point being...there are new people discovering android every single day...we are labeled....NOOBS...by the community...and for good reason,we know little if nothing about the devices we own...but as you....and maybe many people all over the globe were once also NOOBS you can understand that a friendly bit of info..like installation instructions...can go a very long way to helping people feel better about what they are doing...and save everyone who has to help them out,(when they maybe mess it up),wasting their time when i am sure they could/will have better things to do...capeesh...
There are tutorials EVERYWHERE. Xda, YouTube, blogs. This is not ROM specific. Why do we need to rehash the same things that are already published out there? Use the info that is already there. No need for us to rewrite it. Flashing Roms requires learning the lingo, the proper tools, and the willingness to learn how to recover from failure. This website contains more knowledge than you can imagine on these things. The onus is on you to learn what others have already provided.

Questions before buy Oppo 7
Hi
I love the paranoid rom, thanks a lot!!!
I have figured out that many questions is answered in change log, but as a not so experienced user i hope the community will answer me in this thread, by prose or by links, thanks!
Before i buy oppo 7 i like to ask a few questions.
- is headset play, paus, skip volume etc part of PA rom; when the screen is on, and off?
- support PA install apps on sd card, or can it move apps to sd card?
- what steps is recommended before i root and before i change rom to PA? Do i need to take some backup of important info? This question is due to possibility to restore phone to "original"

To have the latest and greatest, or one that fits your needs better then what your service provider thinks your needs are.

No worries man, welcome to the community Chances are however you may end up with a few 'Just search!!' answers but I understand there is almost too much info to understand out there but do check out the sticky threads at the top of the HD2 rom development forum as there is a wealth of detail there.
In answer to your question: 'why would anyone want to mod the rom or mess with it? please kindly answer it.'
There are many reasons for doing this, I assume that you come from the 'HTC probably know whats best for their phone as they made it' point of view, this is not always the case.
Let's take a real simple example: There is a limited ammount of space in internal memory and the more you can get the better and some of this space is taken up by pre-installed applications and images that you may never use and some of these can't be removed simply by deleting.
This is where 'cooking' roms comes in: In order to remove those apps you have to create a new OS image (rom) without them in (this is cooking, which is generally performed by experienced people who will publish their roms in the roms forum) and then to be able to get that on your device you need to 'flash' the cooked rom (OS image) onto your device (think of flashing as installing the OS like you would windows from CD on a PC) , and viola you have a new rom on your phone which leaves you more space in internal memory to use for yourself.
There are obviously far more complex reasons for cooking roms (speed improvements, fixes, mods and changes to the UI) but in order to keep this short and simple I've used the above example. If you want to know more check the noob tutorials in the rom forum.
Be careful however, and ensure you read all the information you can search for / find in there as there are some potential pitfalls if you don't do it properly.
Thanks prime! I got it now :]
hello and let me first apologize if this is yet another post on another ROM.
I have a nexus4, and after the last update for 4.3 is battery time really been bad, even after a reset.
so I could use a little help around the CyanogenMod.
I think there are so many different versions of CyanogenMod.
if there is a kind soul who could help me find what I need (the right link), I will be overjoyed.
my phone is not rooted yet, it must be right? so lacking I also help to find a guide.
someone who can help find what I need?
best regards
setfire.
having a good day.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018179 this should clear up any questions about unlocking the bootloader, rooting etc
This is also a ROM I would recommend
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2385619
I would also suggest spending some time reading in the forums as most questions will of already been answered, plenty of solid information to be found,
All the best
Hey everyone, I'm currently trying to update my phone to maybe a new rom or something that runs a tad bit smoother than the original rom posted.
But quite frankly I have honestly no idea where to even start.
I'm using a T-Mobile Galaxy S5
Version 4.4.2
The only thing it has is being rooted.
I just don't want to mess things up.
if someone could explain the process and maybe link a guide in order from which I should follow it'll be greatly appreciated.
Also if you could recommend a rom you have experiemented with and you feel is very nice or fast please link that below also.
Sorry for asking so much ><
Newbie s5 user incoming
There are many custom ROMs, not to mention many existing threads and tutorials. So why don't you browse the forum and do some reading? You'd learn a lot more about your options and be in a much better position to ask informed questions.
It's not really in your best interests (not to mention rather presumptuous) to expect someone to write a treatise or personal guide just for you. Especially when guides and tutorials already exist if you spend a few minutes looking in the forum yourself.
If reading a few posts is somehow too much work, then pick a random custom ROM like Phoenix or Xtrestolite and follow the installation instructions in the custom ROM thread.

There. Happy?

You should read and ask in the device specific forum thread for PA. Not likely to get much action in this forum

Hello guys, I have created this thread to discuss about the CM12.1 by @Moyster, so we don't flood the thread's ROM with useless messages regard our problem with the devices, and leaves that only for developer things
I hope to have done a good move by opening this thread. If there are some problems, if I done something wrong, sorry in advance.

I don't think it was really necessary but it's up to you
The rom thread is not a "dev-only" thread (or I would've restrained who can post, there's options for that at least) but most of the users are simply new or didn't read the rules, and therefore simply come in the thread and ask "what about this ?" when there's already 45 pages and a Search Feature, for example to find infos about the battery consumption.
If people don't take the time to understand that, it will forever continue, hence it's still better to keep the discussions on topic because I don't especially have time to read a dozen threads to have returns about my rom.
Regarding bug issues, recurrent problems and things like that, I already made it clear on the rom thread HOW TO SUBMIT BUG ISSUES, but obviously that's the same as my previous paragraphe
This thread would be way more useful if it was a summary of all tips and tricks for the device / rom, a clean formatted post that links to "how to volume speaker", "how to wipe", etc...
Greetings

Ok, I understand your opinion, but I haven't time to mantain a thread like the one you adviced. I created this thread to group all users so that they help with each other.
So, it's better if this thread is deleted and recreated the one you mentioned by someone.
And thank you for your work!
As I think this thread might be useful for those noobs on Android And thank you again for your hard work @Moyster
By the way, seems Audio FX has crashes some times on my device. And I may to tell you that the baseband for international version of m571 might be different from those in China, for we're using TD-SCDMA network for 3G on CMCC(China Mobile). Someone recently tested a MIUI8 rom on 4pda and met the problem on baseband. And what's this for? http://forum.xda-developers.com/t/meizu-m2-note
And it seems m2 note is the only Meizu device (except meizu m2 mini) which has truly unlocked bootloader. And if anyone needs factory firmware or original Flyme firmware for SP Flash Tool ,I can offer that.

You could try to replace the firmware files and if that works for you, make a flashable zip for other chinese users maybe ?
