In reality I really don't know where else to go I know that there is normally every time that you connect your phone it leads you straight into the Usb Storage now when I connect it. It just go straight into charging mode is there anything. Adb shell won't and I have to wipe it by tomorrow to send it our to Best buy! Help Please!
Is it rooted? If not wipe from the bootloader?

I had this problem. Here is how I fixed it. I deleted all Android phone and USB storage drivers from my computer. Then I plugged in the phone to USB. Then I quickly removed the USB from the phone while the computer was looking for drivers. Then everything worked fine again.

Oh I guess u wanna backup too... if u have wifi just connect via wifi and copy files... u can access ur comp from es file explorer on wifi
Wow I had this same problem about a week and a half ago. I never did find a solution. I tried multiple computers. I couldnt even unroot it because the computer did not detect it even in fastboot mode. I ended up sending it back to samsung to be repaired.

What data are you trying to backup? I would go into recovery, wipe data/cache, reflash the ROM, then test it.
You can backup apps/settings with titanium backup before you wipe.

I've tried many cables, almost positive mine is a pure driver issue.

I've tried absolutely everything in this thread. Lost USB connectivity completely on my phone. Doesn't matter what machine, what OS, or what cable, or what drivers are installed. I'm assuming it must be a hardware issue at this point. Doesn't even work in bootloader.
For those updating OTA to 2.3.6 via OTA and needing to re-root their phones, make sure you're not having this issue. Being stuck without root is a pain in the ass!

Good advice actually. Scrubbing it with a dry toothbrush + using a a brand new 3 inch USB cable made the sucker finally connect.
Must have been a combination of bad cables and poor USB port hygiene
Yep, had to take a knife, brush, and alcohol swabby to mine.

This is when I put my phone into mass storage.
My phone is taking forever to be recognized by my Windows 7 computer, my laptop recognizes it right away, I am using my front USB ports and have tried the back one even. Also, I have installed drivers and un-installed them, I have also done everything under the sun to try and get it to sync better. But alas it takes a while for my desktop to recognize that I have put my phone into mass storage. It is really bugging me, I am also using the stock cable that came with the phone and have even installed the official drivers. But to no avail.

Try reformatting the card... Use a card reader to pull your data off first..
You could also have a defect on your device, but I'd test it in a different computer before concluding its the phone..

It is definatetly not a device defect for I have a samsung laptop with Windows 7 home premium 64 bit and it recognizes right away. Also, I find that if I enable mass storage the computer reads it (my desktop) but it just takes a while to. I will jsut have to be patient I guess. lol

Very few defects exist across ALL the epic phones.. I was suggesting it could be a defect with that specific phone, but that conclusion should only be reached after further testing..
I had trouble with my Win 7 64bit laptop when I first tried to connect it. I switched to the usb port on the other side of the lappie and it recognized instantly. There seems to be a bug in Win 7 and how it recognizes the Epic on certain ports. My Blackberry worked fine in all ports. I did install the 64 bit drivers and still had problems with that port.
I'm sure this has already been posted but couldn't find it. But I was trying to flash one of the roms that were posted in here with odin3 and when I put the phone in download mode and Hooke it up to the computer I get either device not recognized or device.malfunctioning but mass storage works no problem. I use the cable that came with the phone and used every USB port on the computer. Any suggestions?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Have you installed Samsung Galaxy S drivers?
I had that problem when trying to flash EB13.
From what others have said here (and my personal experiences with trying to flash EB13) the cable the Epic comes with is crap.
When using another cable, I had much more luck in getting Odin/Windows/Samsung Updater to see my phone.
YMMV though, but it worked for me.
I think you should re-install the drivers, and try a USB port on the back of the computer. Usually the ports on the front of the computer aren't the best for these things.
Sent From My Command Center... (aka basement)
Reboot computer and reboot phone and try it again thats what worked for me in the past
Reinstall the Epic drivers from Samsung. Make sure to use the back ports on the back of your computer that are on the motherboard. These will provide better and cleaner power to your device, also cycle both the computer and the phone and don't plug in the device till after you have went into download mode. This should fix your problem.
Same thing happened to me. I tried using the micro USB cable from my wifes Blackberry. Works great now. Samsung's cables suck

Guys I've had this issue and tried everything you guys have and some. Look at the port directly on your phone. there are tiny little copper contacts on the tooth that can get bent.
You will have to use some tweezers to get it back down but look at this before buying a new usb cable as this was my issue

So I've been having some SERIOUS issues with my battery and have requested an RMA. Last night after a ton of issues (and at one where I soft-bricked pretty badly) I managed to unroot + load stock 4.2.2. It was late at night, so I decided I would re-lock the bootloader later.
Fastforward to today, I enable usb-debugging mode, plug in the phone and Windows 7 gives me an error. It says there's an issue. I go to device manager and it shows up with the yellow logo. I figure it's a driver issue so I uninstall drivers, and re-install naked drivers .72. Restart, plug it in and the same issue.
I go to a different computer and try it, same pop (this is Windows XP) saying device not recognized.
I also noticed my device no longer charges from the computer, when I plug it in it charges for a second, then stops.
How do I lock the bootloader if I cannot connect my Nexus 4 to the computer?? I tried going to bootloader and connecting the device, but nothing happens at all there. SOMEONE HELP!
EDIT: Here's the error message in Windows under the device manager: "windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (code 43)". Getting panicked now.

I'm pretty much stuck. There's literally nothing I can do except hope it somehow magically works later on...
Would Google accept the phone as under warranty if the bootloader is unlocked? The battery is SHOT, like it drains 1% every min while under use + like forever to charge. My hope is that the thing never boots when they get it so they can't actually see that it's unlocked.
Try using a different usb cord and I'm not sure if Google will accept it.

Have already tried using 2 different cords. I'm going to try out another computer tomorrow that's brand new and see if it works there. Will also try charging fully but I don't see how that would affect it.

It doesn't even charge from the PC USB port.
A few weeks ago I rooted my ATT 800o phone, and even attempted to install TWRP. It gave me a compatibility error with 800o so forgot about TWRP. A week ago, the phone fell and the screen cracked, rendering the phone useless. It works perfectly fine, but I cannot enter the pin code since the digitazer is probably broken.
I tried LG PC suite and LG OPS or OTS (I forgot), and it doesnt see any USB device connected. I believe I left the phone in JUST CHARGE USB mode.
I need to access some files on the internal SD card, so I ask for suggestions on what to try next.
Assuming I can get it in download mode, which I should be able to, should I flash the stock LG firmware (800d) and then try to get into it that way? Will that wipe the files of the sd card (pics, application data, etc)?

Thank you for the idea of the cable, but I want to try something first. I want to flash it clean so as to remove the exchange pin and hopefully get into it that way. I want to possibly sell the phone, so I have to wipe it anyway. If I don't recover the files, not a big deal (i hope...).
My thinking is...flash it back to stock clean, and see if I can change the USB connection parameters enough to connect. Then I can recover my files, and then maybe I can sell it. It is presently rooted without recovery. How do I flash it back to stock?
