hi i had a problem with my phone mic the other party were not able to hear me clearly and my voice was cracking. i took my handset to samsung ASS last week and they removed a white plastic part near the mic. Pls kind attached image of part that was removed. but the same was not given back to me by ASS. need to know as to what this part is and from where can i get a replacement to this part only without buying the entire mic.
why did they remove it? can't you take it back and get them to fix it properly?
you have to buy the entire board, can't just buy the mic plastic/rubber
if you do need to buy, you can get it here
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Flex-Cabl...426798?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item5ae1beaeae
Why did you start a new thread when you've got one here already detailing the situation?
Anyway, can you not just ask for the piece back from the service centre if you're missing it?

Does anyone know where i can get a hold of one? My earpiece died so i took my device apart and noticed the cable is damaged. It got caught on something from opening and closing the keyboard.
It is not clear, what hv u damaged..in either case of strip connector broken, u hv to change mother board...no other option..
The EXACT same thing happened to me on a 9100. Earpiece died. Took it apart and saw that the ribbon cable snagged on something and tore. I was hoping I could just find a replacement cable, but havent tried looking anywhere yet though.
I think 888-482-8725 is htc's parts line. I got a replacement battery cover for an 8125 from them. Or you could try calling t-mobile and see who they patch you through for htc service and try to buy one from them.
hdubli, thats not an image of the damaged part, i didn't take a picture of my broken one. That is the picture from the disassembly manual. And no the mother board doesn't need to be replaced.
guttrhead, did yours get snagged on the small plastic rectangle thats supposed to cause less friction(its glued to a rectangular felt) as you slide your device open? Anyway i emailed pocket pc techs over the weekend and they replied with their phone number and told me to call and speak to a technician. Which i did and i got a hold of one and he notified me that they don't carry that part and he doesn't know where to get it from. Tomorrow i'll give the number you posted a call as well as head over to mda and ask them what they do with damaged MDA's.
I don't know what it snagged on. I didn't take it apart entirely, just enough to see what was wrong. I'll see if I can get a picture of it up sometime later today.
so no one knows where to get parts for the wizard?
i've called ppc techs, htc usa, and Top Solutions in miami. NOTHING....
I just posted it for sale on craigslist.org with a free BT headset because i can't use it anymore without the earpiece working if i don't find this part, it'll be on ebay at the end of the week... think i'll go for a Prophet after i sell it.
I forgot about this topic. I'm surprised that none of those places would sell the piece. The t-mobile one is the same and I know htc usa supports that. Maybe they just need a little convincing to sell the part.
Heres some pictures of what I was talking about. Crappy, cause I took them with another wizard. You can see that that ribbon cable is torn. I guess it was due to the little black rectangle thats underneath the cable. You can see it best in the bottom picture. The only thing I've noticed is that the main speaker doesn't work.
I do not speak english, but, my problem is equal, see photos below:

How to fix?
Yep, exact same thing that happened to me.
I fixed mine by purchasing a damaged wizard on ebay and swapping the parts out. I also noticed the damaged one i bought, which is a t-mobile mda, doesn't have that rectangular plastic piece. So there really is a difference between the Imate K-Jam and the MDA.
-----------------------------------------------------------
I no longer have the mainboard from the damaged MDA i bought off ebay so please don't PM me asking for it.
you maybe able to cut out the damaged bits and solder in some insulated wrapping wire, looks like thread but it is copper wire and most often blue insulation, then remove the offending black rectangle or try rerouting the cable a bit to stay outta the way...
bhang
ps
its worth a try or you could risk a handset exchange from tmob if yiou are a customer, they take your and referb it and send you somebody elses refurb, it can be a gamble...
My dear Wizard has broken. Again. In fact this would be the 5th time. But my supplier, 02, is breathing a breath of relief as I've just moved out of warranty and can't get it replaced again (ironically, the last send-in for repair was two weeks ago, which was in the warranty period.)
Anyway, the problem is this. The headset jack is borked. When headphones are plugged in, all the sound is horribly distorted - it sounds like I'm underwater. This is particularly pronounced for the speech part of the spectrum, leaving my music without lyrics!
This affects all headphones I use with it and isn't software as the speaker works fine. If I apply pressure to the jack pushing it up towards the screen, it can be made to sound ok. So I would guess it's a bad contact or some grime etc that's preventing a good electrical contact (the sound does feel like it's being put through a capacitance filter).
Any ideas how I can make it work again? If not, I'll have to go buy a bluetooth headset, but I'm a little skint right now..
No solution from me, but this might help. You can try checking with O2 regarding your current warranty as you have your phone just fixed 2 weeks ago. Some company will automatically renew the warranty period if the device is being fixed under warranty.
Good idea - but when I called up I asked about this to no avail. Turns out they don't provide a warranty on repair models. Arg.
you could try fixing it yourself, google for 'wizard service manual' there is a copy on another forum which you will have to register for, i don't know if there is one on this site
It might just come to that. I might just try blagging a repair - it seems a little out of order that they won't repair a defective phone they sent me somehow. Besides, if I have a phone that works, I can make calls and generate them revenue! But... if that fails, out come the screwdrivers.
Actually, the symptoms suggest to me that it's not broken per se, but rather dirty or similar. The distortion sounds like a capacitor which suggests the jack is being obstructed very close to the contact. Perhaps it needs a clean of a sort...
S*it the bed?
My phone has the same problem. But, i don't think an american carrier would be as understanding as a english carrier about modification, so you might have to do what i am going to do
1. Bribe someone at the T-Mobile store.
2. Bribe My Cousin at the Cingular Store
3. Check E-Bay for a cheep parts phone or a dummy who has a bad description for a phone.
hi I've bought my Touch Dual on ebay and it was said to be under warranty (receipt) but when I opened the backside of the phone I discovered a broken warranty seal. Now I have severe problem with my ear speaker which doesn't work anymore. I've found photos of the dual opened but it seems to be too dificult to access the broken speaker...and I don't even know which remplacement speaker I should buy...
But as my phone is normally still under warranty I need your help : can you take a picture (macro and highest quality) of your warranty seal ? I'll also need the exact measure of the circle in order to reprint it as life looking as the original one...
Thanks a lot
sorry mate - i broke mine ;-)
but i am sure there are some dudes outside having a working warranty seal ..
good luck
hi, the seal is made of really thin latex like material, i know cos i popped mine to open case and align some issues. it really isnt difficult to open and get everything out, trust me!! and the whole case is like $80 from cnn.cn
http://cnn.cn/shop/touch-dual-full-housing-black-p-2329.html
i have link to opening instructions too when i get home
be brave!!
BTW: my seal was white with 'VOID' written on it in red, just covered the top right screw hole
Warranty seal
If you still need a photo of the seal I can do one for you. Post again if you still need it.
Thanks for your support. What do you think about my problems? Will it be solvable by myself? :
-First I've encountered a ear speaker problem :indeed the speaker I use to aswer a call doesn't work anymore...I've tried to hard reset the phone but it didn't solve the problem...I've already had this problem a month ago, but after a week the speaker miraculously re-worked...
So I don't really know if the speaker is just unpluged or broken...In the first case it will be really easy to solve by opening the Dual. In the second case I don't know which kind of speaker buy and if it's sold somewere.
I've not seen any post speaking about this problem. I saw a tutorial with photo of the dual opened (http://www.pdacenter.ru/razborka/razbor_htc_touch_dual/) : I didn't really see the aspect of the ear speaker and it seemed to be directly joined to the electronic card...Have you ever seen it? Do you think it'll be easily solvable?
-My second problem is about the sliding screen part of the Dual. I have recently let my niki fall while the sliding sreen was opened. Since then I have noticed that the screen part of the phone move a little when the phone is closed. It's really unpleasant when you hold it closed in your hand because it's always moving and doesn't give you the initial sensation of rigidity...
I think I have bend the rail that the screen part usually follow and I wonder if there is an easy way to dismantle the two parts of the phone to rebend the rail properly. Do you think it'll be easily bendable or sould I buy a new case?
These 2 problems make me hesitate about a warranty return...Indeed I don't want to destroy the plastic case by making bad manipuation, and then just see that the speaker isn't easily exchangeable... As my phone is still under warranty I'll mostly choose the easiest way by returning to the vendor...
Anyway I don't have any time to open it this week so I'll think about it in the next 2 weeks. Could you please take a picture of your seal and give me the size of it : it'll always be useful in case I renounce to open my niki (and in 2 weeks maybe no one will agree to send me the seal picture )
Thanks a lot for your support

Hello everybody,
I have an HTC Desire A8181 that it's approx. two years old now so, in one day I thought it could be a good idea to clean it up a little bit with a rudimentary air blower near me which was used to blow all the dust from it.
Well, the bad part is that I managed to break the microphone since now I can call and hear the person at the other end but seems that my phone is deaf as long as the call is unidirectional.
I've search for solutions to this problem om the net, maybe a direct microphone replacement but found none so far!
Hence my request to you: does anybody know from where I can buy such a part and replace it to make my phone usable again? I'm interest in the part number... or something equivalent from other phone manufacturer that will work.
I understand that it's rather difficult to unsolder the bad microphone and replace with the new one but I have a friend of mine who's working at a GSM service... so it will be no problem in switching the parts.
Thank you,
L
You sure you didn't just blow crap into the microphone? Try cleaning out the tiny opening on it so it's not blocked. Use a pin and be VEERRRRYYYYY GENTLE and careful.

It would probably be easiest to try find a bricked/broken/faulty phone and just transfer the microphone because the chances are the microphone would still work on a broken phone. I don't think you can buy them individually.
Unless its on these two parts:
http://www.htcrepairparts.com/flex-cable-for-htc-desire-g7-p-3598.html?language=en <- most likely
http://www.htcrepairparts.com/motherboard-for-htc-desire-g7-p-3231.html?language=en <- unlikely and expensive
Hello,
Just wanted to let you know I have a pretty much useless old Desire A8181, i think i ruined the proximity sensor as everything else worked fine. Until you got call or tried to ring someone and held it to your head. Coudn't even hang up! It's sitting here with a cpl of spare batteries if you wanted to work out some arrangement?
Cheers
how price of desire mic?

Hello,
thanx for infos! In fact it's the second alternative (the expensive one). The microphone is found on the back side of motherboard PCB. Unfortunately for me I have to buy a new htc desire to make it functional. a broke phone would be enough. Even so, it's way to expensive compared to a "simple" microphone.
Cheers,

Hello,
After a sim reading problem, my phone was sent in a reparation center & come back with this problem solved (remplaced sim/sd module) but now my phone have an oxydation sign.
& now the back speaker is no more working.
I asked the reparation center to fix that but they don't mind.
So, I want to know if the speaker problem is due especially at the oxydation sign at this particullar place (can't post the photo: i'm not allowed to post links), or if I can fix the the speaker normally like it doesn't have any oxydation.
Thanks.
In your place I would contact an organization working in customer rights protection. If they really messed up the speaker during their repairs, they must fix it free of charge, definitely.
