Excellent battery life with GB - Galaxy Tab General

My Tab has now been on for 10 days and still has 27% battery left! That's mostly just standby with around 3-4 hours of web/market/games but that is seriously impressive!! Well done Samsung!
Anyone else seeing results like this?

I assume by your locale being London, you have a GSM tab? I have a CDMA version and with 3G off, i can go 5 days easy, wifi on 24/7 and so forth. Impressed as well.

Are you on a stock rom?

I'm on OldMacNut's GB v2 build and even though it's buggier than v1 for me..I like
My quadrant went from 820 to 1460. 2000 if overclocked to 1.2 using Tegrak.
battery life, I get about 10 hours with wifi on the whole time and w/o.c. Before I only got 6 hours stock froyo rom.

After I flashed the Overcome ROM over stock 2.2, I've also seen great battery life. I don't use the tab heavily each day, so it's about 4 days between charges.

Mine is stock rom on a GSM generic Tab. I always turn wifi off when not using also.

Oh and I'm up to 11 days now with 25% still remaining!!

No need to turn wifi off, it uses next to nothing in terms of juice.
Sent from my SCH-I800

Using the standard XWJP9 rom, but with the overcome kernel flashed to UV/UC it and I get 3 days of pretty active use out of it..
as a comparison, the Boca Heretic rom needed charging after less than a day..

Do you guys use your tab very little or something. I use my tab 2 hours a day on average. I guess that's quite a lot but it is my summer holidays.

Oh and I have to charge it every 2 days.

Mine gets about 5 hours active use a day.. I dont use it for calls very often, which does help a lot.. Also kept the apps that use push notifications to a minimum..
on the early versions of froyo I was charging every day, and the last one every other day. GB was a little better, the CF-Root kernel seemed to make it last even better, and the overcome version longer again..

Thats right.... i don't believe in the 10days battery life with wifi connection? Seriously?

As I said, I always turn off wifi when not in use. As I said, that is about 1-2 hours everyday/other day.
So that 12 days was pretty much standby with very occasional use, but still impressive I think.

Bionix - Best battery life ever!

;D I'm running Bionix v1.3.1 and the battery life is AWESOME. Yesterday, I did a LOT of texting, gaming and talking. By the end of the day, I still had 90%.
Usually, if I do that on any other ROM, by the end of the day, I'd probably have around 0%-30%
I didn't recondition the battery, either.
BUT ONE THING, I've NEVER EVER experienced a problem with the GPS on my vibrant, but right after flashing V1.3.1, it wouldn't work anymore. It'd take like 15 mins to lock D:<
wow. using any different kernels? What modem? I get stock battery life on bionix. I have no idea how people are getting such amazing battery life. Maybe i need to do a battery reconditioning.

Same here, running 1.3.1 with the overstock kernel, keeping wifi on all day due to the great wifi sleep policy, after an 8 hour work day of moderate to heavy use my battery is at about 70% everyday. I don't even want to update to the newest version of overstock, too scared to lose what I have.
Edit: And my gps works flawlessly, but I've done the hardware fix on it.

Hate calling people liars but I will never understand people who get 2 days wiht an oem battery. I jsut dont see someone besides an extremely light user getting 2+ days without a charge. I got 2 days with my 2700mah extended battery.

This is probably as accurate as you can get:
Heavy use: 6 hours or less, MAYBE 7, but unlikely if its heavy use.
Moderate use: 10-14 or less, no more than 14.
Light: a day, and possibly more.

It was good for me but no as good as Trigger, but the rom that lasted more on a charge for me was Azura,it had incredible battery life.
I used to get 2+days battery life on mine when I was running previous version of Bionix. I can't recall which version it was, i think 1.2.0. It was when the froyo was released for the vibrant i believe january-febuary-ish. After flashing to 1.3.1, i can't get passed to 24hours anymore. Also all my settings, syncs, wallpaper (etc..),except the modem, kernel, and 2 scrabble apps, where similar. The KB1 modem was one of the culprits of the drain and i have it replace with the JK and KA variants (still testing which one is the best). KB1 was awesome with my gps locks though with almost 3 meter accuracy with 8/12 sats locked). The speeds were also like +1-2mbs depending on the location and this was tested with a friend that has JKx modem. Also google googles and the 3d gallery up was not shutting down the sensor server which was draining the battery hardcore. Until now I still havent been able to replicate how I got the 2days battery life. I could revert to the previous bionix version because i have a back up too but this battery issue is not really that of a problem.

Amazing battery life!

Tweaky Rom 4.1 (JVH), Supercurio's Voodoo kernel, JV9 Modem, with Armani battery (1650mAh).

Hey i new to this, i have a UK I9000, that i recently updated to JVO on kies. I previously had my phone replaced by samsung due to battery issues. but my new one seems to be the same. I can just about get 14 hours or so of use out of it. I have brightness set to outo, auto sync on, have an gmail and an exchange email, also am on 2g/3g auto. i am unsure if i should flash to custom? i keep reading that people are getting 2days out of their battery. i would say that not a heavy user!! could do with some advide! thanks
If I am always in a wifi area I probs get about 4 or 5 days. If though 3G is on i've known it to go from 100% to phyically off within a matter of hours even when not actually using the phone.
Sorry but i am amazed from these screenshot.
I am difficulty arriving to the night.
My phone is having the standard battery, with two google accounts setted on sync and i really use it FEW... 3 hours of display? A dream.
I am on 2.2 because it is branded and i really wonder how u can achieve 2 days. 5 days with moderate use i would shot my head to achieve it.
Someone can give me a good advice?
Also, how are u taking the battery history?
Considering display and mobile data are the biggest battery drainers, we more detailed information than just time on. Give me display usage.

which for better battery life: Open Soju or GB-ns4G-deck?

Hi guys, I have a Sprint NS 4g. (saw another similar thread, but they are discussing ROMs for the other versions...) I stopped using it because the battery life is miserable even though I have 0% Time Without Signal. (My rooted Evo literally lasts 3x as long at this NS.) Therefore I am looking into alternative ROMs.
Any idea which of the above ROMs has better battery life?
Thanks!
I've been using mikeyinid's rom in the ns4g dev section. It's titled "updated 6/27/11..." using matr1x kernel. Had very good battery ever since he went to the new kernel and I'm using it as-is. No performance tweaks.

If you are using your phone non-stop, meaning you have the screen on straight periods of time, 5 hours is not bad, really. You have to remember that the SAMOLED screen sucks battery down. On the weekends when my phone is on all the time, I generally have to swap batteries 2 or 3 times in a day. Thats very heavy use, of course. During the week with moderate use, texts, gtalk, emails, and xda app, I get 10- 12 hours on a charge. Screen on time is a killer with the NS
Why does this thread get more hits than mine?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
I am trying Soju right now - so far it looks and feels elegant.
My NS4G gets way better battery life than my Evo did probably almost twice as long. But aside from that I have had good lick with open soju and Cyanogen. Open Soju was nice because it has voodoo control for headset audio which really takes advantage of the wolfson headphone amp built into the ns. Voodoo makes the audio like night and day once you have tried it you cant go back. Than Cyanogen is great many options but to get voodoo I had to use nets kernel. Both having great battery life but Cyanogen has more options but its still in beta.
Edit: I did not really answer your question about the GB-Deck because I have not used it but have heard good things you have to flash gapps with it like Cyanogen.
There's really something to be said for turning down the screen brightness. Also make sure you have wifi sleep on never. Try james bond kernel and let it settle for a couple days. First day or two of a new rom/kernel will be a little low on battery

Battery life gone down the drain after firmware upgrade

Hi guys,
A couple of weeks ago, Note II informed me of an upgrade. I did a bit of googling and found out it was to fix some exonys bug. Seemed pretty important so I did the upgrade post haste.
At first the battery life was atrocious (like a 50% drop). The same thing happened with my old iPhone 4 but everything reverted to normal within a week. So, I though maybe things are new and Android will fix itself up after some time.
How wrong was I ? LOL. My phone gives me just a day's worth of battery life. Earlier it was a solid two days. Which was why I justified carrying this brick of a phone. It is pretty ridiculous to see the battery drop by 30% at times in three or four hours (despite zero use).
Any suggestions to improve or remove the pathetic firmware upgrade.
1. Use the nova launcer
2. Auto brightness with the slider dragged to 1/3rd
3. 3G always on
4. The battery screen shows screen taking 70% of the battery! I have the auto off timer set to 15s the minimum.
Any suggestions guys? I am frustrated with this phone post the update. Thinking of switching back to the iPhone as atleast it gave me a day's pf juice in a much pocketable format.:crying:

But the drop has been extreme in my case.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Honestly you can't do anything. In American english, you can't do nothing!
Turn 3G off, when you don't need it. Keep brightness at as low as possible.
That's all. 4.1.2 drains juice faster than 4.1.1, it's the truth, doesn't really matter if someone agrees or not.
You could go back to 4.1.1 ROM you know and depend on your luck for that Exynos issue. Otherwise give up on great battery backup and stay with 4.1.2, like I'm doing. Nowadays I don't even monitor how much battery backup/screen on time I'm getting, on 4.1.1 it was the opposite story however.
Hey, so should I just resign myself to a gimped battery? What really hurts is how awesome the battery was before.
Any word on when samsung would release a good update?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Download better battery stats to make sure there is no wake lock. I will advise despite my best efforts the battery life has plummeted when upgrading to 4.1.2. Stick to 4.1.1 for battery life. It still lasts much longer than an average handset saying that

After updating to 4.1.2 my battery runs down about 20% quicker overall I would say. 70% for your screen seems severe. Mine is always set to 50% auto and takes between 30 to 35% of the battery usage.

If you go back to 4.1.1.... Stock even....you'll have the same battery issue.
After about 2 weeks of having the 4.1.2 (the second update I received) on DBT my battery life one day just magically got better! I had been having terrible battery life (like 1 days worth) for 3 months, and now I get home every day from work with 50-70% battery. I charge it every night, regardless of the %. But it just magically got better. I'd say give it a go for a week or 2, and see if it helps. I don't know what happened with mine, but it looks like the software just "settled in" because I didn't install ANYTHING new, and in fact, I hadn't even uninstalled anything! It just got better after using it. Do a few battery pulls / restarts, too.
I went back to 4.1.2 last night and right now I'm at 50% charge, 17 hours standby time and 5 hours of screen time... I'd say my battery issue is fixed.. for now lol
I also must say that after a week or so of using 4.1.2 battery went much better overnight. I automatically turn on airplane mode during night, and on 4.1.1 I had like 1-2% drain overnight from full charge. After updrage to 4.1.2 it jumped to 10-20% !!! Now, it is down to like 4%, which is not that bad. Still have to see how it behaves during the day, I think it is not any better. Well, at least that standby drain is (much) better....
