Amazing battery life! - Galaxy S I9000 General

Tweaky Rom 4.1 (JVH), Supercurio's Voodoo kernel, JV9 Modem, with Armani battery (1650mAh).
Loving my SGS now.

Sorry but this is not great battery life.I used to have 5days standby with 3hours of display usage and wifi always on in Froyo. But overall its a great Rom i use it myself .
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk

3 hours display usage is pretty typical for me at normal 1GHZ clock. at 800MHZ i get about 15 minutes more.

I'm on MIUI and with moderate use I get up to 2 days^^

No, he got wired to a car battery. The electrical shock deleted his memory and he forgot where he had left his phone. After nine days of not touching it at all, he finally found it and took a screenshot ...

I finally topped the 2 Day mark with my 2.3.3 juwe rom. I had problems before to reach at least the 24 hours, sometimes i had to refuel during the Day,caused by the massive drauf bug which keeps android awake. First i deinstalled the latest maps update and undescribed from latitude.i also did Not touch any gameloft game. Wifi was on Most of the time when awake. See the battery historie below

Hey i new to this, i have a UK I9000, that i recently updated to JVO on kies. I previously had my phone replaced by samsung due to battery issues. but my new one seems to be the same. I can just about get 14 hours or so of use out of it. I have brightness set to outo, auto sync on, have an gmail and an exchange email, also am on 2g/3g auto. i am unsure if i should flash to custom? i keep reading that people are getting 2days out of their battery. i would say that not a heavy user!! could do with some advide! thanks

If I am always in a wifi area I probs get about 4 or 5 days. If though 3G is on i've known it to go from 100% to phyically off within a matter of hours even when not actually using the phone.

Sorry but i am amazed from these screenshot.
I am difficulty arriving to the night.
My phone is having the standard battery, with two google accounts setted on sync and i really use it FEW... 3 hours of display? A dream.
I am on 2.2 because it is branded and i really wonder how u can achieve 2 days. 5 days with moderate use i would shot my head to achieve it.
Someone can give me a good advice?
Also, how are u taking the battery history?

Considering display and mobile data are the biggest battery drainers, we more detailed information than just time on. Give me display usage.

i'm using Darky's Rom V10 RC6 for about 2 weeks and after recalibrating my battery i'm on 3 days now with average use.

What is up with the battery life on 2.3.3?

After replacing the battery with a 1600 mah Seidio battery. I still get bad results. For example, during lunch today my phone was at 50% in my locker. After 4 hours, I was at 21%. My Sync, GPS, BT and Wifi are all OFF.
How is this possible?
I use to own a Nexus One and in 4 hours it would go down 2% with CM6. Is Gingerbread an issue here or does my phone need RMA repair?

I'm running stock 2.3.3 and battery life is by far the best over various android versions.
2.3.3 has some weird bug where every once in a while the system gets into a weird drain state like it doesnt go into deep sleep correctly. i just got hit with this last night. it does happen all the time, most of the time on 2.3.3 battery life is excellent. i will lose 6% over 8 hours. but when that awake bug DOES kick in, battery drops like yours did.
you just have to reboot and check it again, the bug likely will clear itself and you wont see it again, for a while.

My N1 on 2.3.3 goes completely dead after 12hrs. I found the solution when doing a Google search. It's to go to Wifi Settings, Advanced, Wi-Fi sleep policy, and change it to Never. You'd think that would reduce battery life, but for some reason now my phone's battery life is very significantly improved. Now it's only down to about 30% after 19hrs when I put it on the charger.
It appears that 2.3.4 will address battery issues in Gingerbread.

I dont think its Gingerbread, ive used both stock and CM7 on my N1 and i was having good bat life on N1 stock gingerbread about 5-6 hours with heavy use, and with CM7 official rom i get 7-8 hours heavy use and up to 19 hours on days i barely use the phone, and on standby i can confirm 8 hours (while im asleep) it drains 6% by the time i wake up of course i do have it personalized and settings applied for bat savings.
I haven't encountered this bug with CM 7.0.3 (based on 2.3.3) but I found it very useful to let the phone just drain the battery completely once in a while (once in a few weeks) and than fully charge it.
After doing that, I can go through two days with regular usage of the device
I'm on CM 7.0.3, 2.3.3 and I'm only getting 13-15 hrs if I'm lucky. Wifi and bluetooth are off only syncing gmail and google contacts. I barely even touch my phone at work for 8 hrs and the battery life sucks.
Another weird thing is that once it gets to 15% left it just automatically dies and shuts down...very frustrating, I'm on the latest pershoot kernel too, the phone was given to me for free last month and it was originally purchased in Feb '10 so I just figure the battery is old and worn out.

No. Your battery is not aged, it just needs re-calibration.
One simple way is to re-calibrate your battery is to charge it when the phone is off or charge using a desktop charher, and you have to over-charge a bit - just leave the battery connecting to power source for an additional 1 hour or more, when the charging process has been completed.
This works every time for me.
Keep in mind that from time to time the battery may need to be re-calibrated again for peak performance.

Best configuration for three days of battery!

Hello beautiful, sorry for my bad english!
We can write here, comparing ideas and impressions of all, what is the best configuration to protect the battery?
It may seem an obsession, but now it is summer and it often happens that the cells can not just load it because I have an outlet in attack.
So often I stay off her cell phone.
The Nexus S promises, but together with your expertise, I would like to figure out how to stay on the nexus s for as long as possible.
To understand Configuration: os (cyanogen, stock, AOPs, etc. ...), the kernel, governor settings, launcher, widgets, various tricks (NFC disabled) ...
There were?
Can we make the battery last for three days ?!?!?!?!?!!
-------
Let me explain, I have the latest nightly cyanogen, the 88. Off data always when I'm around and I do not use the internet. I do not need the push, so no active sync. The wifi I turn it on only at home or at work, I have WhatsApp, twitter and I uninstalled facebook to try what were saying that facebook consumes battery. I have launcher pro and Gtasks widget for notes in gmail, news and weather widget for news that is updated every 6 hours, if it's on the Internet, and then all program icons. I have installed very few, narrow required.
The kernel is the 1.3.3 universal netarchy signed cfs (the bfs? Is not that I had to use the bfs what do you think?).
This afternoon I used the GPS a few minutes to find an address, then he arrived, I turned off the GPS and data, with the widgets "Power Control" modified cyanogen.
Some short calls since this morning and some short text messages, not even 10. Some web browsing on 3G, but not much.
Well, after all this I can tell you that after only 11hours 18minutes 5seconds the battery is already 42% (97% this morning after recharge).
I'm not coming to pass even 23 hours which is what you do with a simple stock 2.3.4.
What is the sense I'm in the kernel and cyanogen netarchy? Only to change some other small lockscreen?
I need the battery! And I have already explained why.
The other ROM that you have listed does not come from cyanogen?
They are not "pure" cyanogen changed? Implemented? Correct?
Let me know ....
The AOSP where they come from? They are like cyanogen, a family on its own? O derived from cyanogen, too?
Now I remove the cyanogen and try something else.
What do you suck a lot in my phone? WhatsApp? Imagine if gripping always-sync data and as some of you! Not even 10 hours would last.
In the processes running there: Settings - 1 and 0 process services (21MB), WhatsApp - 1 process and 2 services (8.8 Mb), Market - a process and a service (11Mb) Maps - a service process and 1 (5.8 Mb) Google services - 2 processes and one service (15Mb), keyboard Android - a process and a service (8.9 Mb) - TOTAL: 153Mb used and 152 free.
It's right? Do you have it?
I just do not understand where mistake ... help me ...

in most cases that would be correct but in reality no phone running android without an extended battery will achieve 3 days. BUT my 4g did go 2 days/8hrs with medium usage.
I can see two days no prob with some average use. You could maybe get 3 days if the screen brightness was at zero, setcpu locked at 500mhz Max and constantly toggle airplane mode when not using it.
What fun is that though.

Correct. There are so many variables. Some say their battery lasts 7hrs. What we never know is if their homescreen looks like a widget bomb exploded on it, everything set to auto sync every hour and brightness at 100% while they use it like a mini laptop non stop.
At work I get like 5 hours. I use it redicously heavy almost all day.
The two biggest battery killers are tapatalk and web browsing. If that is all you do, yep you will never make it past a day.

I think this is pretty accurate.
Typically, with average use (by my estimation) I get about 22-23 hrs between charges.
Average use is defined by
*Netarchy kernel overclocked to 1.2GHz with SetCPU (screen off profile set to 500MHz)
*2-3 hrs of talk time (with about -85dBm signal on average - or at least that's what it is when the call starts)
*push email for 3 IMAP accounts at 5min check intervals and sending and receiving at least 75-100 emails per day
*push gmail with 60 or so emails per day
*fancy widgets updating location every 30 mins.
*Seesmic twitter widgets on homescreen updating 3 accounts.
*Facebook widget
*locations service always on
*wifi never sleeping
I think that's most of what's running.
Battery life on the NS4G has made me laugh at my Evo's 8hr charge and has actually made me use my phone MORE out of confidence that my battery will last.

Excellent battery life with GB

My Tab has now been on for 10 days and still has 27% battery left! That's mostly just standby with around 3-4 hours of web/market/games but that is seriously impressive!! Well done Samsung!
Anyone else seeing results like this?
I assume by your locale being London, you have a GSM tab? I have a CDMA version and with 3G off, i can go 5 days easy, wifi on 24/7 and so forth. Impressed as well.
Are you on a stock rom?

My quadrant went from 820 to 1460. 2000 if overclocked to 1.2 using Tegrak.
battery life, I get about 10 hours with wifi on the whole time and w/o.c. Before I only got 6 hours stock froyo rom.
After I flashed the Overcome ROM over stock 2.2, I've also seen great battery life. I don't use the tab heavily each day, so it's about 4 days between charges.
Mine is stock rom on a GSM generic Tab. I always turn wifi off when not using also.
Oh and I'm up to 11 days now with 25% still remaining!!
No need to turn wifi off, it uses next to nothing in terms of juice.
Sent from my SCH-I800
Using the standard XWJP9 rom, but with the overcome kernel flashed to UV/UC it and I get 3 days of pretty active use out of it..
as a comparison, the Boca Heretic rom needed charging after less than a day..
Do you guys use your tab very little or something. I use my tab 2 hours a day on average. I guess that's quite a lot but it is my summer holidays.
Oh and I have to charge it every 2 days.
Mine gets about 5 hours active use a day.. I dont use it for calls very often, which does help a lot.. Also kept the apps that use push notifications to a minimum..
on the early versions of froyo I was charging every day, and the last one every other day. GB was a little better, the CF-Root kernel seemed to make it last even better, and the overcome version longer again..
Thats right.... i don't believe in the 10days battery life with wifi connection? Seriously?

As I said, I always turn off wifi when not in use. As I said, that is about 1-2 hours everyday/other day.
So that 12 days was pretty much standby with very occasional use, but still impressive I think.

Yes,it's normal. I have a Neo,and the charging time is somewhere between 1 and 1 and a half hour.
I´ve git the same problem with Xperia T 6.0 ICS Rom with Trinity Kernel....anybody any idea why ive got this battery drain because of android OS?
MishoB said:
And it only lasts for 8 hours which is not acceptible, any help? Ive already turned off sync and di other things that some FAQ articles said. Also, Im brand new to Android world, coming from Blackberry, anyone wants to introduce to it? Like flashing rooms and stuff, its all new to me. maybe add me on skype

Mine takes approximately 4 hours to charge from 0 to100% :crying:
Full capacity is approximately 6300mW and my charger is at 5V and 850mAh. That would theoretically charge it from from 0 to 100% in about 1 and a half hour. The battery never reaches 0 in capacity as that would kill most lithitum batteries. Not sure why my phone requires 4 hours to charge.
Battery capacity will slowly decrease over time on a lithium battery, mine is 1 year old now.
My 4.0.4 ICS ROM has now lasted close to 4 days with 40% power left. Have only used it very little, mostly with data off and 1 hour screen display and 45 minuttes of speech total. Have also set it to disable radio during nights, then it only consumes 1-2% over 8 hours, got tired of email notifications during nighttime from either spam emails in private email account or work email from exchange account.
The phone can last very long on 4.0.4, it all depends on your usage. I can also drain it in 3 hours playing PS emulater and overclocked to 1.8Ghz web surfing in my experience is about 20% per hour depending on how bright your screen are and if you are using wifi or 3G. It seems like wifi is consuming much less power in 4.0.4 compared to 2G/3G data.
Just a note to all you fellows - Android OS drain is a known thing, why can't you use that god damn SEARCH?
Just restart your phone after you charge it and it will no longer drain. A bug in the OS. And that really was worth a whole new topic, was it, huh? Instead of finding an answer in less than 5 minutes, you make new topic which takes days to get an answer.

There's no point in not using your phone just to preserve its battery. :what:

Battery life feedback

I saw quite a few topics comparing consumption with various kernels, setups, roms. But most of those are done by one person using one phone with different setup. Even if there would be variety of people, the information would be lost in discussions. Here I want you to post structured informations about your achievements in battery usage. Please post in following structure:
1. Battery life hours;
2. Screen on time hours;
3. Battery type;
4. Rom
5. Kernel
6. Screenshots to prove 1 and 3
7. Special notes, like consumption in offscreen time, and during screen on or some special undervolting or anything else.
My desire to see world records in battery life discipline.
My personal records were done on gingerbread rom with don't remember what kernel and conditions but believe it was tegracs kernel.

test conditions
For a reliable test all must have the same apps and power mangment values.
Too many variables will lead to no conclusion.

To make it simpler, my idea was not testing but rather boasting about best results, records, Guinness book for i9100 stock hardware.

I can boast!
I just hit a new record. I'm on the Bell (Canadian Phone Company) official 4.1.2. I use greenify to hibernate things like facebook and keep them from running the background. I used titanium backup to disable a host of system programs that I don't use/need. I also have setCPU running at its default settings.
Last week I made it to 7d 54m 24s
I forgot to look how much screen time I used but it made up 25% of my power consumption. When I'm at home or at work I have access to a PC so I only use the phone for texting, checking the odd email etc....
If I'm out of town I might get 2 days on it. My average is 4-5 days. I must not have used it too much last week.
I also have an Anker battery in it (as my originals charge time started to decrease). It seems to do rather well (maybe even slightly better than the stock battery).

I didn't save the main screen, I think those shots were made about 3 years ago. And you just have to trust me that that 11 hours were true. BUT there's one trick here. My phone had an issue at that time, it couldn't go to sleep. I put it by my bed and closed flipper over the screen. When I woke up, I picked up the phone and noticed that screen was just a little darkened but not off. I looked at screen time and was shocked, made that screen... The rest you know. so, you right that this result is out of range.

I went 7 days before I had to charge it. There's no way that was 7 days of screen time.. lol. Maybe a few hours of screen time in there. If you click on the thumbnail it will go to imagebam and make it bigger.
I never thought to screenshot the detailed screen page where it says the hours you used. I just took that snapshot because I'd never made it to 7 days before (even though I rode it all the way down to 1% power). I also use an Anker battery in it, which seems to give it a smidge more power (even though the physical battery is the same size as a stock battery).

I got 2hrs of screen on time yesterday wid android 2.3.6 wid battery being 50% (I flashed for checking this only )
All time I was using net on edge..
So I assume 5 hrs screen on time wid gb is not a big deal...
Now I reverted back to stock 4.1.2 coz there are several features I missed in it..

Understand you, I also had tremendous results on gb (see first post) but everything is changing nowadays, and after sitting on jb for a while you can't go back even if you want.

I used to do pretty good on stock ICS 4.0.4 roms. They never released 4.0.4 in Canada so I think I used a rom from the UK. It was really light on battery consumption. Way better than gingerbread, 4.0.3 or 4.1.2.
The only downside was wiping the phone with 4.0.4 using certain programs would brick the phone so I think alot of people avoid the 4.0.4 roms (and probably why the didn't finish spreading globally).
Wow.
You guys have some good results there.
But 7 days I can hardly believe.
Cheers.
