It's primarily because this is an HTC-centered forum.
Milestone A853
New phone, so far so good.
Installed Swype beta. It works well, but warns "wrong screen size 854x480". Alert is frequent and annoying.
Anyone have an answer?

Sooo i can't post in android developement since I'm a newb here. I have a bravo sitting around that I had bought my GF, but both of us got so fed up with it, its a spare now. I am proficient software developer with quiet a bit of experience. I know jack **** about working on Android, but it appears a lot of you know what needs to be done and just need someone to do it. I am referring specifically to getting CM7 and MIUI camera and camcorder working. If you want my help, I am happy to, but I will need some guidance and can take it from there.

I'm tired of having a damn good piece of hardware with a ****ty piece of software on it.

Ask me anything and I'll tell you what I know. BTW I have the newly released CM7.1 running on the Bravo...I can also help you on what files to move to get any Defy ROM to work. I really want the camera to work on here too. It's getting really close.. camcorder works and it looks like it can take pictures but no picture is saved...

we need to work with codes. It's the codes for the camera that need to be altered

Lol can you be a little bit more specific, what research has been done? I know of few of you guys have tried swapping libraries around, do we have a list of efforts tried, and theories on what to try next... Do we need to decompile/dissasmble the library out of the stock kernel for the camera and reinject into into the new rom? Essentially... wtf is going on with the cam situation?

With almost every rom that its ported to bravo we just can have the camcorder working, when we take pics the file JPG is saved but its blank.
I made a logcat after taking a pic and you can see that camera is working with some jordan libs (defy). bravo is kobe

I'd really like that we complete this gingerbread roms with ice cream roms coming on the way!

I live outside USA but i got the Sideload enabler!
try this:
you need a AT&T SIM card, activated or deactivated,
-put the AT&T SIM card in your bravo
-turn on your phone and connect to a WI-FI Network
-Access to android market via PC
-Search Sideload Enabler for Bravo
-Click Install
-follow steps and Done!
Someone knows how i can extract the APK file from my phone and post here?
Thanks for your suggestion, but I alredy installed from the market by using Market Enabler and and setting it as if I was on AT&T, the problem is that I needed to be rooted.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EKYQ0MTL
I wanted to take the app and change the name or something and upload it to the market, so that every time I want to install it, I can do it easly. Can somebody upload it?
I didnt know that when somebody is going to upload apps to the market, have to pay US$25 not expensive, but not interested now.
To extract it you can use any apk backup app and it will save it to your SDCARD.
I will get an AT&T sim card to try what you said.
I've seen many people posting simple doubts, and General Section is already flooded with questions. So that this becomes a more organized section, i've had the idea to create this thread. Here i'd wish you to use it for things that don't deserve a thread for itself. I've come from Ace-i's and Y's sections, and flood there was too damn high. I'd like to prevent this. Please use it for any curiosity or nice thing you find about Moto G.
Thanks for reading this, mathm2013.
P.S: if there is already an off-topic thread, tell me please.
Cats.

Moto G hardware buttons
Well I've found that many, including myself, have found that the power and volume buttons seem somewhat loose and have wiggle room. I don't know but it seemed kind of annoying to me lol. So what I did was remove the back plate and place a strip of clear tape along the buttons and that seemed to do the trick!

This actually sounds like a good idea, might use some to try and stop the back creaking as well.
Do you have another camera that can take a photo to show exactly what you did?

My back is creaking too, but only on up-right part - where the buttons are placed! Also, the volume but especially the power button is a bit loosy, but not that important!

I just couldn`t believe how bad is Moto G`s back. I think it is horrible to open, and i am always afraid of breaking it.

Yep. I've gotten so tired of hunting down smartphones with decent audio output (line out) and storage options that I opted to just get an iBasso DX50 and use this coming Moto G to stream videos and play a few games.

Well, I actually prefer this kind of back since it's well attached. Some 'premium' phones don't, and when they fall they open and spread into floor. Lol at that...

Can't find backup
Hi, i want to install Xposed and GravityBox to my 4.2.2 rooted Moto G...
I read on both threads that they recomend to make Nandroid backup before installing Xposed.. So i rebooted into Fastboot, then selected Recovery, backup and restore, and it shows the following options:
- backup to /sdcard
- restore from /sdcard
- delete from /sdcard
- advance restore from /sdcard
- free unused backup data
- chooser default backup format
++go back++
Since Moto G doesn't have a sd-card, which option should i select ? I try with "backup to /sdcard", it took about 3 ~ 4 minutes to finish, then i rebooted...
I wanted to make sure the backup was done and then to copy backup to my computer but i couldnt find it on my phone..
Just find this on XT1032\Internal storage\clockworkmod:
.last_install_path
.recovery_version
Sorry for my english, i'm doing my best x) Hope you can help me..
EDIT
Forget it, i found backup stored in '/mnt/shell/emulated/clockworkmod/backup', how can i backup this to my computer?
Something I can really appreciate about this phone... It doesn't heat up during heavy use like almost every other phone I've owned:thumbup: I've been browsing the internet, tapatalk, reddit & Facebook for the past hour and she's cool as a cucumber

Did't know were to post the request. Can somebody with rooted moto g search for file called "others.xml". It should be somewhere in "system/csc/" folder or something like that. If you find it can you open the file and copy it's content.

i want to learn
hey guys, my request is not simple. i like the moto g alot, i had alot of android phones, but never tried mrore than root/unlocking bootloader/s-off when it comes to htcs, custom recoveries and alot of roms. I think it's time to move on and learn more. i would love to learn how to port miui to our dev the correct way, and i would like a tutuorial .. well not tutorial, alot of reading materials i guess about android, how it works, and how would one go about porting. i know you need a base, like cm10/11 which is not the case for moto g .. yet .. so what baserom should i use and what would be the first steps to porting miui to moto g ? hope someone replies and doesnt laugh at my noobness

I think it isn't possible because the latest miui is android 4.2 I guess, and moto g has only 4.3+
I think we need to wait until there will be kitkat miui

I admire your ambition sadly we need our source code before we can start building anything. As for porting, we would need to port from a device with similar software and hardware. Miui is just about one of the hardest things to get ported. It is by far one of the farthest from AOSP of all of the custom ROMs AFAIK.
