Okay, I've got to say that this site has been quite helpful, I successfully rooted and flashed my droid with apex w/o having to ask a single question.(though I admit I still don't know all the jargon) And now I was wondering if anyone has seen any themes for ADW based on halo?
I saw one for star wars, lol but what I have in mind is a bit different. I want to get my phone to boot up with the halo 3 ODST loading screen. And as it finishes loading a picture of the superintendant with NO PUBLIC ACCESS below him.
My questions now are: is all of this even remotely possible? Would anyone wish to help me? And what do I need to know to be able to do this?
Your time is greatly appreciated.

Hey guys. This is probably a st00pid n00b question, but this is the only place to find 100% correct facts. I highly doubt it is possible on an non-rooted phone, but I just installed the sense flashlight .apk which I also thought was impossible.
I did do a good deal of searching before this post, but couldn't find an answer.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

For the notification bar I don't think so, but for the clock download 'beautiful widgets' in the market and you'll get that clock and a whole lot better ones too.

For the clock google "Fancy Widget apk". Works great on my G2. For the rest I'm not sure.

As far as I know you would need root for the notification bar because system files are replaced or modified and that can only be done with root access. Unfortunatly its not possible with the temp root that we have now since you would have to reboot the phone for any changes done to the files to take effect. So until we have a permanent root solution I think its pretty much impossible.
I kinda thought so. I really appreciate the quick responses guys!
I have used beautiful widgets before. That is an awesome app. I am currently using weather widget, and I'm very impressed with it too!
I just hate that white notification bar at the top. I heard the G2 may be "unrootable". But I know if it can be done, it will be done here.
Thanks again, guys!

Flash the manup themed rom for temp root in the dev section.
The bar is black ...

I have been reading that the G2 is currently unrootable. Is that not true?

there's no permanent root yet, only temporary.
Hey Guys:
I just recently rooted my Droid X. I know I have seen it on this forum, but can't seam to find it again. I was looking for a list of what is safe and not safe to remove without bricking the phone. Sorry if there is a thread like this already, I just can't find it.
If anyone could give any answers that would be great.
Thanks in advance.
Droid X Wiki. You should be able to Google it.

As a noob to the Droid X myself, I was wondering the same. Using Root Explorer, I have successfully removed the following without causing any drama in the OS.
Amazon Kindle
BlurEmail
BlurEmail.odex
CarDock
CarDock.odex
CityID.apk
FileManager
FileManager.odex
FriendFeed
FriendFeed.obex
Mynet
Mynet.odex
MyVerizon
WorkContacts
WorkContacts.odex
I'm sure there are more, but this is all I have been brave enough to remove. I suggest moving them to a backup folder on your SD card in case you ever need them back.
Thanks, that helps.
Does anyone know if I can remove the stock music app without hurting anything?
With all the problems that it causing, the non ringing and so forth, I have switched to double twist, and has been working fine since.

Give it a shot by moving the APK to your SD card. If you run into any problems, just move it back.
Forgive me for being such a noob, but what is the best way to go about that? What are the best apps for doing stuff like that?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I just went ahead a removed the stock music player and kept double twist and it hasn't caused any problems.
Double twist actually seems to work better now with out the stock one on here.

I recommend getting Root Explorer from the Market. It's not free, but it is the best ~$3 I have spent in recent history.
+1 on that! I also use the paid version of Titanium backup to freeze/thaw/un-install bloatware.
I have rooted my kindle fire and have played with a few roms. I hate the little app sizes on the large screen. I use Miui on my G2x and love it for its simplicity customization.
Miui does not work on my Fire, as I get repeated Android, not app., fc's. Bummer. I can't figure out how to stop this. I have wiped cashes and re-flashed three times.
Also is the KF, not Rom Manager friendly? No KF device choice?
Finally, does anyone have an ROM suggestions? Has anyone in the know compiled one yet?
I am going to flash the ICS Beta tonight. Happy to work with it, as is seems Verizon chose to not let people actually use demos in their sales outlets. AHoles!!!!!!! Why? Buy to test? Idiots. I will never use Verizon again.
Thanks for any help in advance.
rom manager is not kf friendly, yet!
make sure u wipe data and system.

Much Thanks.
Will do. Thanks again. I try to read as much before questions. Awesome.
I was going to search through the forum but that option isn't available right not so I started this thread. I've been looking for a list of boot animations for the Evo with screen shots. I ran across a list like that a couple of months ago, but haven't been able to find it again so any help would be appreciated.

Why do you want them?
It just slows the boot process even more. Who cares about the boot

Part of rooting a phone for many is to customize the phone. This includes roms, kernels, cpu speeds, apps and even boot animations if it's something you want to change. When it comes to the boot speed you will never notice the difference and if it's not your thing then that's fine, but for me it's another enjoyment of being rooted
Rom toolbox has a large list of bootanimations, and previews too. Sidenote: rom toolbox has many usefull apps put in one. Pro version is sick!

So yes, i,ve stated it in the title.
I'm using Frosty Jelly bean from past 2 weeks.
and trust me by far the BEST STOCK ROM ever you can even think of.
it is way toooooo quick and smooth.
After the first update, i,ve requested the dev to add few tweaks for the the update but Unfortunately, the dev thinks that no one, else than me and him using his rom.
And he has kinda abandoned the work.
So the reason why i am writing this post is to ask you guys that is there any way that i can add these few mods to that rom without an update from the dev's side.
1- enter instead of smiley face in keyboard
2- navigation bar customization
P.s i,ve already searched the forum :$ but couldn't find any thing similar to what i'm asking for here :$
Else trust me guys the ROM is way more quicker than the STOCK it self.

OK here's what you do buy swift key that will fix the keyboard to what you want
Search play store for nav bar customization it's for root phones and only cost. 99 cents but allows you to change size and things like that. No reason for the developer to add these things if you can with out any coding

Thanks for your reply mate, but if i wanted to install applications, i wouldn't be asking here.
The thing is i actually want to keep it stock :/
I know installing applications will keep it stock but you know things implemented by default play safe role in the smoothness of the rom :/
And the mods i guess once installed get sick to the rom.
But anyways thanks for your reply and still if anyone has the mods do help me :$
Because I'm truly in love with the speed of this rom.

lol no worries mate.
I haven't took it serious.
I know devs got their own lives as well, basically I'm regretting not having knowledge regarding rom developing that's why being too fussy (if you want to call me): $

1 - If I'm not mistaken the enter key is a .png inside /system/app/systemui.apk or /system/framework/framework-res.apk. Replace the png with whatever you want.
2 - Get frosty's source code, compile it and make sure it runs first. Next, get AOKP's github and cherry pick their navigation bar changes. Rebuilt, and see if it runs
Also, it's NOT A STOCK ROM anymore. It's still considered a custom rom. It DID NOT SHIP with the phone.
Well in this case it may be your only option as many of us just use the apps so we can have the option on all rom but at least the more you and I hat back and forth the longer this topic will be at the top I have stock non rooted but rooting it probably next week so I can flash an older base band and will be changing my nav bar with that app.
