(Seeing as there's no General Thread for tablets, I've re posted this here.)
Hey guys I finally ported my "hubs" set up to Android Tablets and I have to say its 10x smoother on our 1.0 ghz dual core device. The general idea of "Hubs" is to create a dedicated screen for each piece of media/productivity while providing a visual eye candy. "Hubs" is easy to emulate, and even easier to create your own style. Despite the lengthy tutorial, its actually easier than it seems. The fun part comes with setting up you layout!
What you'll need:
Main
Adw Launcer EX
Launcher Pro Plus
Multi Live Wallpaper
Minimalistic Text
Simple Text
Optional
Pulse (for widgets)
Cowon Clock/ BobClock Widget
Mizuu Movies
Launcher Pro Plus (Widgets)

FINAL
WALKTHROUGHADW Launcher Users[/U][/B]
-To remove top bar-Press and hold and empty area on your home screen then click on "Launcher Actions" > "Hide/Show Action Bars"
-Enable Widget Overlapping-"Menu"> "ADW Settings"> "UI Settings" > "Screen Preference"> Check "Overlap Widgets" in the Advanced Settings Tab
-Increase Retail Space on your screen-"Menu"> "ADW Settings"> "UI Settings" > "Screen Preference"> Increase the desktop "Rows" and "Columns" in the "Desktop Layout" Tab.
Launcher Pro Plus Users- while not optimized for 3.2, it still runs perfect.
-Increase Retail Space on your screen-"Menu"> "Preference" > "Homescreen Settings" > Increase the "Number of columns/rows" in the Homescreen Grid.
-Remove Icons From Right Dock- Hold your finger on the icon you wish to remove> "change shortcut"> "Blank"
*You may add screen transitions for each launcher if you wish, however my advise is to leave it at default as you can set transition for Multi Live wallpaper. Doing both launcher and MLW will make your screen look "too busy" IMO.
To set the "Bars" (Titles for "Home", "Music", "Movies" etc.)
Minimalistic Text
-To set title- Press and hold a free space on the screen > "widgets" > "Minimalistic Text" (size may vary per style however I use either 4x2 or 6x1 as long as its horizontal > ensure that "background color" is checked > "Predefined Layout" > "Custom" > "Custom Layout" > Click on the plus sign > "Misc" > "Static Text".
-Black Bar Tutorial click here
Wallpapers
-Set up - Load up your wallpapers on your sd card/internal memory and placing them into seperate folders and name them based on the images (ex. Music, Movies, Games etc)
- Long press an empty screen on your homescreen > "Wallpapers" > "Live Wallpapers"> "MultiPicture Live Wallpaper"> "Settings"
- For each "Screen _ Settings" Select the picture source as "Picture Folder" and navigate it to point to your corresponding homescreen.
- Additionally you make select the screen transition here that reflects your particular taste. You may also set a default wallpaper for your lockscreen.
Despite the dozen of widget on the homescreen and live wallpaper, battery use is minimal.I have provided wallpapers below to help you get started.
NAVIGATING BETWEEN HUBS
There are two methods in which you can navigate to each individual homescreen.
Method one: Prior/Alternate way for navigation text was achieved using this methodby trekkie0927. Using invisible icons in tandem with minimalistic text can make it easier to flip to each hubs. Please rate/comment his video.
Method two: I found a great alternative to Minimalistic Text in terms of using the text buttons to jump from one screen to another called Simple Text. Since it's only an icon and not a widget, it consumes no memory and provides a great minimal look.
User AcIdC0R3 has posted a great tutorial. (Please thank him!)
Make sure you have ADWLauncher EX
Go to the market and install Simple Text
Long press on the screen and select 'Custom Shortcut'
'Pick your activity', select 'Launcher Actions'
Choose which screen you want, 1 - 5 or 1 - 7 if your using seven screens
Click on the picture of the 2 screens side by side
Select 'ADWTheme IconPacks' and select 'Simple Text'
Select the grey box named 'Simple'
replace the word 'Simple' with whatever of your choosing like 'Video' for your video hub or 'Social' for your social media hub and so forth
Adjust your text size, Y and X coordinates, your shadow settings etc.
Click the little blue 'A' in the top right side of the screen and select your font (more on fonts further down)
You also have the option to select the color wheel next to the 'A' and adjust your text color
Select the menu icon on the task bar at the bottom and select 'Save Style' if you want to keep what you created for later use as well.
Click 'Save Icon' which will create your icon for you
Back at the black edit screen remove the text from the text field and click OK
You should now have a custom text icon that will activate whichever screen you chose for it. You can click any app icon on your screen and follow the same procedure for your apps so all your apps also have text icons.
[FONTS] In a file manager go to /sdcard/Simple Text/ and create a folder named 'fonts' (that is plural with an 's' at the end). Next go to somewhere like dafont.com and download you some kewl fonts and place them within that 'fonts' directory you just created. Now when you go into Simple Text to do your editing you will have more fonts to choose from.
That's all there is to it.
You can also work with layers within the creation of your Simple Text. Notice below where I created a new layer, rotated my new text layer and intersected where both words have the letter 'E'.
However you may notice that simple text does have it's limitations:
Icons can only be 1x1
Works best on adw
No way to resize; it is only an icon after all.
Miscellaneous
ISSUE: You may experience widget being placed "behind" the black bars. If so try this method provided by user SwiftLegend
1. Put the widgets/icons you want on TOP of the blackbar FIRST. You need these before anything.
2. Select a Minimalistic Text Widget, I usually use 1x1. Clear out the text options (Predefined layout > Custom, delete all of the things there)
3. Once you're back at your homescreen and see the MT Widget, just long press and re size it to your liking.
You HAVE to make sure that whatever you want on TOP of the blackbar is put on the screen FIRST. Anything put on after will go underneath.
ISSUE 2: Users have reported that Minimalistic Widget refuses to post/ show up on the homescreen.
1. Turn your tablet into portrait mode.
2. Add the widget whilst staying in portrait mode as you apply you designs.
3. Rotate back to landscape.
ISSUE 3: You can no longer take full advantage of the screen real estate using adw ex (particularly the corners)
1. Recent update kills the use of every inch of the screen. In his attempt to emulate ICS, anderwebs made the edges of the screen inaccessible.
2. Revert back to an older version (1.3.3)
here's the original layout from the nook color if you guys are interested on putting this on your homescreen HERE
and here it is in action HEREhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8DxCVzARfE&fmt=38

You mean adwex? No, not permanently. It's a probably the way the launcher was designed. Hopefully adw updates and adds an option to turn it off completely.

Got everything done except for the title bars. I couldn't seem to find anywhere to insert text using MT

When I saw it first time I didn't like it but when I made my own I love it.
I want to share my idea how to make titles made by using Minimalistic Text (like a "Games", "Home", "Music") clickable (when you click on "Games" title it will bring you to "Games" launcher page page).
My English isn't good so I'll try to explain everything with pictures.
Let's say you have homescreen like that :
and you want to add "Music" title wchich will bring you to "Music" Hub :
Now what you have to do:
1. Prepare minimalistic text widget :
-add Minimalistic Text widget with size you want
-no you should see options windows like this one :
Go to "Predefined Layout" and select "custom"
- now click "Custom layout" under "Predefined Layout" and you will see this:
delete these three grey boxes by dragging them down to trash
-click on the "plus" icon on the right side, you'll see this:
-select "additional" ("Dodatkowe" on my screen)and then drag "static text" up to this place where were those grey boxes before.
- You should have this now:
-Click on the grey box and you'll see edit options like this one :
I'll type "MUSIC" in "static text" and press back button or select style which you want
-enable option "no action on the touch"
- Now you can finish or digg in the settings. When you finish press back button to go back to the homescreen
Now the best part
put and hold your finger on free space on your homescreen
-select "launcher actions"
-scroll down the list until you see "screen 1/2/3/4/..."and select the one that suits to the number of homescreen with "MUSIC" Hub (I'll select "screen 4")(make them two if you are using 2x1 widget or other number depending on the size of the widget)
-You should have this now :
-long press on the "screen 4" icon and select "edit", you'll see this:
-Delete name of the icon, press on the picture of the icon, select "select picture" and then select "ADW dock catalog". Select anyone of docks and the icon will disappear.
-Click OK and make the same thing with other icons - they are now invisible.
- put them in the place where you want to have title of the hub
- put MT (minimalistic text) widget under/above/next to arranged icons
- long press on MT widget and select "edit". You should hae this now:
- resize the widget to cover invisible icons like this :
- resize it again to fill it correctly like this:
- press "back" button - you have now clickable title for Hub
Sorry for my terrific English - I hope you understand what I wrote

Awesome, that great. I'll def add it to my tutorial

MOD EDIT : Don't quote such huge posts !

I finished setting up my tablet. But, now I am getting error messages on my widgets saying "problem loading widget." I have rebooted a few times with no luck.

Status bar displays: Signal strength (up to 5 bars), Carrier name, Wifi Power status, BT Power status, Data connection status, ring profile (on, vibrate, off), and battery level

Alright, I've had a couple of weeks to work out the bugs and to implement most of the suggestions you guys gave me.
So, here is the new and improved MusicFlo
Get Icon from most programs
Suppports png transparency for Program Icons
Fully customizable graphics (all pics found in \Program Files\MusicFlo)
Size and position of Program and Contact buttons now on config.xml
Try it out and let me know what you think!
The CAB will overwrite the original MusicFlo, so no uninstall necessary.
You still need the two HTC apps in your Windows folder if you don't have them already.
Not on video: Open S2P by clicking the album art on the Control Panel.
Original Post:
Making Cube Skins is fun for a while, but then you realize that you are just prettying up someone elses program, and who knows what changes that program will go through in just a few months. So I decided to give programming my own "Cube" a shot.
I listened to what people were asking for with the Cubes. Here's what most of you said you wanted:
- more icons
- a changable background
- more than one contact page
- web favorites
- general information on one side
So I set out with that in mind, MusicFlo has four individual screens.
One for General info which includes:
- a TouchFlo 2 style clock
- notifications for new email, text messages, missed calls, and voicemail
One for programs with TouchFlo style interface (up to 9 pages of 9 buttons each)
One for contacts with TouchFlo Style interface (up to 9 pages of 6 contacts each)
One for Favorites with the ability to take a screenshot of the web page for "Visual Favorites" (up to 9 pages of 4 Favs each)
The configuration is built into each screen. Simply tap and hold to make the buttons start to shake, then tap the button you would like to configure, or tap the background to change the background image and change how many program, contact, or favorite buttons you would like.
This is my first programming work, so please let me know what you think. I am pleased with what I have accomplished. I know it's not much compared to other programs out there, but if you're looking for a simple, fast, non-memory-hogging FREE Application/Contact/Favorite launcher, I think you'll like MusicFlo.
I want to thank up2no6ood for creating the icon style for MusicFlo. Without him the icons would be boring.
Technical stuff:
MusicFlo can be edited directly from the Program, or by editing data.xml in the \Program Files\MusicFlo folder. The very first entry is called "Browser". Change it if you use something other than Pie for your web browsing.
Only add buttons through the program itself. Adding entries in the xml file won't do anything, and it could mess you up later on, so only add buttons (Progs, Contacts, Favs) through the program interface. I'll try and get a YouTube video up later for a walk-through.
ENJOY! I know I am!
P.S. - For quick access I use AEButton Plus to change the long press of my dpad button to MusicFlo.
P.P.S.- Added Icon Pack (MusicFlopng.zip)
P.P.P.S. - To make MusicFlo open with a swipe up (ROMs with Cubes only) move MusicFlo.exe to Windows folder and rename to Biotouch.exe
Update 5/27/08 - fixed functionality for programs on Storage Cards
can i tell u something bro it look sux try some better graphix bro but its features are good this is my review
This app looks good, highly configurable, and needed if you ask me. I will definitely give this a test run when I get home later. Is landscape supported as well?

Not yet. I'll work on it, though. Thank you both for your thoughts. I worked so much on the actual program that the graphics were more of an afterthought. I'll work on those as well.
If you want a hand with the graphics
Very Promising for a first App.
And as you see it's interesting enought to get people offering help.
Looks very nice, I'll definitely be following the development here. I don't have the time to try it right now, but maybe you can give us a quick video on it to show us how smooth it is.
Just dling, looks promising, what I would love and I am not sure if this is possible would be if it could be a today plugin, then I could include it in UL or even on its own. Will post my review after trying. WOOO HOOOO more toys to play with.
Simple and effective!
This application has much potential! I love this ap. Everything you need in one program
seems good but graphices need some development,I will try
not bad functions but looks kinda complicated..
Best part about the graphics is that you can customize it in any way you want. All of the graphic files end up in \My Documents\MusicFlo, so if you don't like it, you can change it! But yeah, if anyone wants to help me out in the graphics dept. I would be grateful.
Also, I just updated the CAB in the first post. People were not able to launch program from their Storage Cards. Fixed. If you've already installed, just download this zip and replace your exe with the new one. That way all of your button changes stay.

I like this applications alot, but I wish instead of the favorites would be a weather, I can totally change all the graphics for u to a real Diamond look but you need to change thesize of the bottom bar and selected icons in ur source code. also I couldnt find the files for missedcall, call history and such, I would like to change those as well. pm me if you wanna work something together.
with poorlyduck's graphics skills , the looks will be unrivaled
Interesting application.
Once the visual style gets pimped up, it'll be a very good htc home replacement.
Sascha
Musicman,
Congratulations. Great start for your first app.
You have offers of help from PoorlyDuck and Oseven on the graphics front so this is bound to be a winner!!
Bookmarked this thread to keep an eye on developments.
Well done and keep going.
WB
does it support vga?
looks good, and is easy customizable not like pointui or mobile shell. But definitly need more functions like weather and maybe some animations if this is possible ?
And what i miss at most is a fullscreen version !!!!
Why is it called MusicFlo if it has nothing to do with music?
a good questionn
where is the music tab !!!!

WisBar Advance Desktop 2: Release 3 [12/19/08]
This is ridiculous!! The theme works great, but I can't seem to get it to ya'll right! WTF! Anyways, go back to the 2nd release, if you never downloaded the third, disregard this. Instructions changed.
For now, the theme will remain as is. Once the update to WAD2 is complete and working, I will rebuild the theme with two extra features, and to make sure there is no error in the theme with the newer version. So, in the meantime, everything works, but if you have any request for the final release, let me know! Enjoy!
Release 3 added:
Those without Audio Manager installed were unable to launch the theme, shortcut was deleted
Added text to application tabs
Added Video Recorder Page
Removed Voice Recorder shortcut, not all may have, similar to Audio Manager
I. How do I apply the theme?
1. Download the attachment "WisBar.zip"
2. Extract to the root, "\", of your device
For those that already have this folder from the last release, I suggest creating a new, blank WAD2 theme, set it as your default, quit WAD, then delete the ENTIRE WisBar folder from your device. Don't worry, all the same files plus more are included.
3. In the "WisBar" folder you'll have two folders, "Project Storm R2", and "Project Storm WAD2"
Move the "Project Storm R2" folder to "\Program Files\Lakeridge\WisBar Advance Desktop\Themes". Leave the other folder in the "WisBar" folder. These files MUST be in these locations to work! Don't worry about memory, sizes are small and it is best to have these on the device.
The reason for the "WisBar" folder is simple, I use this as my general folder for all WisBar items, graphics and others. This includes the WA3 theme.
4. Open WAD2
Choose Settings, then "Change Theme". If you do not see "Project Storm R2" in the list, choose the option to "Scan for Themes", and it should then appear. Select the theme, and apply!
II. On with the Show!
I've tried to use all available possibilities with WAD2, simply to have a better theme, and to use it for what it's worth. For those that used the first release, forget it even existed! This one is MUCH MUCH better. If you are new to WAD2, you will be in for a surprise! There is a lot to it, but once you understand it better, the easier all of this will make sense.
WAD2 is simply a "Virtual Desktop", it allows you to place almost any item you would like anywhere on the screen, with any number of screens. This is why this application is the best for this theme. If you have questions, feel free to ask here, we are all here to help.
For starters, at anytime you can swipe down to return home. Also, all shortcuts use default WM applications, this basically means opening contacts will launch iContact, if that's what you have installed.
III. Home Page
This your first page. Everything you need is here. At the top is the "Status Dock", and the bottom are your "General Shortcuts"
The Status Dock includes:
Live Battery Meter
Live Volume Status [Opens Volume Profile Manager]
Your Carrier Name
Live Phone Signal Strength
Bluetooth Status [Toggles BT power]
Data Connection Status
Wi-Fi status [Tapping toggles Wi-Fi power]
Clock [Opens Clock Page]
Long Date
The space below the date is used for the following notifications, only displayed when needed:
Missed Calls [Missed Call List]
Voicemails [Calls VM, you will need to change! Edit the script to call your own VM]
Emails [Opens Email Inbox, ActiveSync by default]
SMS [Opens SMS Inbox]
MMS [Opens SMS Inbox]
The General Shortcuts:
Messaging [Messaging Center]
SMS [SMS Inbox]
Contacts [Toggles Speed Dial Dock, shortcut to Contacts included]
Calendar [Opens Agenda Page]
Browser [Toggles Web Favorites Dock, PIE preset]
Media [Opens Media Page]
Weather Icon [Opens Weather Page, displays Home info]
Maps [Change to what you like]
IV. Applications Page
Like before, tapping the middle, blank part of the screen will open the applications page. This is fixed, so you don't need to look for it! At first, you're brought to the main applications page.
The bottom four are preset to:
Applications [Opens Page 1/3]
IM Apps [1 Page Only]
Games [Opens Page 1/2]
Tools [1 Page Only, Control Panel preset included]
The top two rows can be customized to launch your eight favorite applications.
To change between pages, swipe left/right, but this does not apply to the Main Applicaiotns Page.
ALL grids are set to "Object Grids". This means you can add more than shortcuts!
V. Media Page
This is really just a quick build. Once WAD2 is updated, the tab bar feature will be added here. Those who are unaware of this feature, it is similar to the tab bar of M2D.
Four buttons, these only change page, the large icons are the shortcuts:
Music [Audio Manager]
Photos [Photos & Videos]

Voice [HTC Voice Recorder]
I used to have a second row for more, but I didn't like the way it looked, plus I'm sure majority of us use one general application for each media category. To change, just edit the button to launch the app of your choice.
VI. Weather Page
Fairly simple, forecast for days 1-4 on left, 5-8 on right. All general data is displayed in the middle. All icons and data are for Multiple Cities! This means the data for everything will update when you change the active city. The right arrow chooses the next city, left chooses prev, and maps brings you to a new blank screen. On the blank images page, just add a weather image of your choice.
Tapping the large weather icon will update the info.
VII. Agenda
Full screen agenda page, tapping anywhere on the agenda opens the calendar. Top left notifier displays remaining appt + all day, opens calendar, top right shows due today tasks + overdue, open tasks.
If you use PB or Diary, simply delete the agenda and add the plugin.
VIII. Clock Page
Simple clock page, arrows switch between digital and analog. If you have HTC Home installed, I suggest changing the digital clock to a HTC home style clock, just be sure to choose the location of the images! Alarm clock opens the default alarm application. This page also acts as a screen saver. On sync, this page will open, when done the home page will open.

VIIII. Additional Notes
Included in this theme was a folder named "Additional Files", it is located under "\WisBar\Project Storm WAD2". Here you will find several different customized links for you to use as you like.
The following are included:
New Note
New Contact
New Appointment
New Task
New Word Document
New Excel Spreadsheet
Open SMS Inbox
Open Specific Inbox
Control Panel Shortcut
Default email link is set to open ActiveSync, to change, change the properties with an application like Resco Explorer and change "ActiveSync" to the name of your Inbox. This is for the WM default mail application.
A great thing about these shortcuts is they are linked to the default WM applications. This means for example, if you use PI8, and choose, "New Contact", it will open PI8, not the default application.
Users of FlexMail 4, see here, lots of great info:
http://kb.webis.net/questions/57/FlexMail+Command+Line+Parameters
When landscape is complete, those with a 320x320 screen can duplicate the theme files and use the copy for the second direction.
WAD2 Release 4 [Final]
Not yet completed, just making of list of things that will be changed. Once WAD2 is updated, these will be posted.
Each App Page will have shortcut to Page 1 [tabs will be shortcut to Main Apps Page]
More Apps Pages [maybe 5 vs. 3]
Lock Page
Tab Bar
Battery Icon [new]
Volume Button [changed, hopefully fixed]
Three Seperate Releases
1. Shortcuts/Speed Dial can be added without entering Author Mode [This means items can't be customized]
2. Shortcuts/Speed Dial must be entered through Author Mode [Allowing more customization to items]
3. Home Page Shortcuts will toggle docks [This means instead of launching email on tap, you will see a dock with inbox specific info, along with the shortcuts to open inboxes and create new emails]
WisBar Advance 3: Release 1 [12/19/08]
NO THIS ISN'T POSTED YET!
The idea for this theme is to match the WAD2 theme, and of course the Storm. At first, this may feel a bit odd to use, but after a day or it works great, for me at least. I have REMOVED the Start and OK/Close buttons. Don't worry, the functions are still there, just looks different. Now, you will have to set the order and functions yourself, the theme unfortunately only includes the graphics. Also, you do not have to set your taskbar like this, but I recommend it, because it will match the WAD2 theme, and looks awesome. There is a lot you can add to the taskbar, but by adding too many things, I feel you lose a "finger-friendly" taskbar. I like to have it simple, and display important info.
I recommend the following taskbar order:
Left Aliged:
Battery [Tap: Casc Start Menu, Hold: WAD2]
Window Title
Right Aligned:
System Notification [Tap/Hold: Show Notifications]
Clock: [Choose whatever]
Network [Tap: Clock/OK, Hold: Menu or Switch Window]
Phone [Tap: Clock/OK, Hold: Menu or Switch Window]
You'll notice I say use the Network and Phone Signal with the same functions. This way, it feels like you just have to tap the right corner to close, instead of tapping a small "X". Again, this is just a personal opinion.
Font looks best at 10pt.
Bottom taskbar:
I have included two different themes, one with a glossed bottom bar, and one with a flat black. I really like the way it looks glossed, but some may like the flat black instead. There isn't a lot of focus on the taskbars, more on the rest, like the buttons.

So far I think I'm good. I'm just surprised at how simple everything is, but looks so dang good. The only thing I'm trying to think about is the dialer, and how it can work for all devices. I've only made dialers with Tiermann's creator, which I think is for the Touch only.
Honestly, I've been staring at the first pic for almost 5 min now putting it all together in my mind! I may have to run to the store for some Starbuck's Double Shots !
Thanks for the support, I'll let you know when I'm stuck.
How big is each icon image for the menus? I could try whipping up a VGA skin if the icons are big enough.
go on!
I started this theme two days ago..
here a pic: I haven't resized anything allready so the buttons are bigger than normal for a 240x320 screen..

Once you get the buttons smaller, it should look very good
Are you going to have them link to new pages or directly to apps?
Alright, so I'm finally putting things together, I'd really like to finish this ASAP, since my new replacement device will be here next week, and I hate working with an incomplete theme.
The only thing I know I won't be able to do is a custom matching icon set, similar to the icons in the first pic of post 1. It won't include the background image, just the icons itself. So far, I've set the background to 60px wide, which should leave the icon around 45x45. If anyone would like to help with that, just PM me and I can send you what I've got.
Thanks!
Some screen shots posted.
Definitely blows away what I posted over at lakeridge forums. Terrific work.
JT, i'd like to help you in whatever way i can...
PM me with what you need.. i'll start working on it this weekend.
More screen shots up ! Check post 1 & 2.
Almost complete, just fixing a few things.
Argggggghhhh I need that WAD2 theme!! looks great!
This theme looks great. Good job!
I can't wait until this is done!!!! It looks amazing.

Quick ADWLauncher howto

So many people have been complaining about ADW being included in CM6; it is something new and they do not know how it works. Often they activate a feature that they don't know about and flip out because they lost an icon or the dock bar; so I'm here to give a quick run down of some features, settings and usage.
I want to thank member "j.a" for helping me with the text and layout formating for increased readability.
Basic home screen actions:
First off, ADW has two swipe actions, a swipe up and a swipe down; these swipe actions can be disabled or the resulting action changed in settings.
Swipe down's default action is to hide the status bar, giving a full screen look. (I may be incorrect here and the default action is to open the notifications, I am not set to default anymore so...)
Swipe up's default action is to open/close a secondary dock bar at the bottom of the screen. This secondary dock is empty by default, so it will appear that your dock has disappeared. All you need to do is drag an icon to the dock and it will "pin" itself to the dock; it can hold several icons and if you place more than can fit on the screen the dock can scroll left and right. To delete an icon in the secondary dock, long press it and an option to delete will pop up.
The main dock's icons can be changed, just drag an icon to one of the icon areas and it will replace the current icon. The default setting is 2 icons in addition to the app drawer icon, but you can enable 4 in settings. If you touch the app drawer icon and swipe up, it will also open the secondary dock. (this can be done by mistake when trying to tap the icon) Also, if you touch an icon in the secondary dock and swipe down it brings the main dock back up. (this action will not work if you do not have any icons in the secondary dock, it gave me fits when I first started using ADW)
The secondary dock can be disabled in settings.
ADWLauncher Settings:
For CM 6 users these are found in the Main settings menu, (the one you get by hitting menu key when on the home screen then selecting "settings" or from the "settings" icon in the app drawer) it is the third in the list under "call settings". (for market installed versions, ADW settings will be under "preferences" when hitting menu at the home screen)
First off, I have noticed (when using CM6 RC1) that if I have LauncherPro installed on my device, that the ADWLauncher settings menu does not show up in the Main settings menu any more; (edit: the settings are accessed like the market installed version, hit menu when on the home screen, it is labelled "ADWStettings") this may also occur with other home/launcher replacements. This may be the cause of some peoples confusion, if they can not find the settings and options, how can they know or learn to change them.
Many of these are self explanatory, they are even captioned with what they do, but a quick overview.
Screen preferences:
Hide Status Bar: Enable/disable the status bar, for that full screen look.
Desktop Screens: Choose number of home screens available to place icons and widgets.
Default Screen: Choose which home screen is the "default" or "main" screen.
Auto stretch: If you choose a custom grid size, (the number of icons that can be placed on the screen) this option will try to resize the icons so they fit on the screen without overlapping, or when changing orientation.
Desktop Columns: Selects the number of icons that can fit across the screen. (this setting is universal between portrait and landscape orientation)
Desktop Rows: Selects the number of icons that can fit from top to bottom of the screen. (this setting is universal between portrait and landscape orientation)
Desktop scrolling speed: Swiping left or right on the home screen will change between the different home screens. This setting changes how fast this happens. A slow setting will cause the screen to slide slowly to the next and vise versa for fast settings.
Desktop overshoot: This setting changes the "bounce" effect when using L/R swipe to change between home screens. It ranges from no bounce to a large amount of bounce.
Drawer Settings:
Horizontal Drawer: Changes the app drawer to a horizontal scrolling effect similar to the home screen or the Galaxy S/iPhone UI.
Drawer Columns Portrait: Changes how many columns of icons appear in the app drawer while in portrait orientation.
Drawer Rows Portrait: Changes how many rows of icons appear in the app drawer in portrait mode. (horizontal mode must be enabled to change this setting)
Drawer Columns Landscape: Changes how many columns of icons appear in the app drawer while in landscape orientation.
Drawer Rows Landscape: Changes how many rows of icons appear in the app drawer in landscape mode. (horizontal mode must be enabled to change this setting)
Animated Drawer: Enables/disables the drawer animations, like the fly in/out effect when opening and closing the app drawer.
Zoom effect speed: Changes the speed of the fly in/out effect when opening or closing the app drawer.
Show app labels: Enables/disables the application names that appear under the icons in the app drawer.
Fade app labels: Chooses if the app labels will fade in during the app drawer open/close animation, or if they will pop up instantly when the app drawer animation is complete.
Background color: Change the app drawer background's color and alpha value. (transparency)
Page Horizontal Margin: Changes the space between the pages of the app drawer when it is set to Horizontal mode.
Preview Settings:
Previews are a thumbnail overview of all your home screens.
Sense previews: Changes between default Android style previews and Sense style previews.
Clean Screen Mode: Chooses whether or not the home screen icons will disappear when entering preview mode. (only affects default Android style previews)
System Preferences:
Home button binding: Change the default action when pressing the home button.
Swipe down actions: Changes or disables the home screen swipe down action.
Swipe up actions: Changes or disables the home screen swipe up action.
Wallpaper Hack: A scrolling hack for the home screen, disabling this option helps fix force closes when using large memory intensive wallpapers. (I am not sure but I am guessing this hack steals RAM or other resources from the wallpaper handler to increase home screen performance)
Orientation sensor: Enables/disables home screen accelerometer orientation. (I am assuming that devices with slide-out keyboards will still change orientation when opening the keyboard)
Use screen cache: Enables/disables using cache for the launcher/home screen, instead of reloading from scratch every time you go back to the home screen from another app. (using many widgets, icons and home screens can create a large cache and will hurt performance; so in those situations disable this setting)
Scrollable widget support: Enables/disables support for widgets with scrollable elements. Leave disabled if you do not use scrollable widgets. (many people claim that they can use scrollable widgets just fine even with this disabled, it may be related to how many widgets and icons you use, so try it and if you have issues enable the setting)
System persistent: Enabling this setting will force the Android memory controller to keep the launcher in memory even if free RAM gets low; this increases performance when returning to the home screen from other apps. (the dev of ADW has himself stated that he is not sure of his coding abilities for this function and states that if you have issues that you should try disabling this setting, I have this setting enabled and have not had issues, but keep this in mind if you have issues and ADW force closes)
UI settings:
Desktop dots: Enables/disables the Froyo style dots on each side of the main dock. (the ones that you can tap to change home screens)
Dockbar: Enables/disables the secondary dockbar
Closing dockbar: If you use the secondary dockbar, this setting will choose whether or not it will close (reopen the main dock) automatically when you launch an app or stay open until closed manually when you return to the home screen.
Closing folder: Chooses if a home screen folder will close automatically after you launch an app or if you must close it manually when you return to the home screen.
LAB: Enable/disable the icon to the left of the app drawer icon on the main dock.
RAB: Enable/disable the icon to the right of the app drawer icon on the main dock.
Secondary Action Buttons: Enabling this option will allow you to place 2 extra icons on the main dock. (Desktop Dots must be disabled to use this setting)
Tint AB: This setting enables a grayed out tint effect for the icons in the dock. (similar to stock Froyo launcher icons)
AB scale factor: Changes the size of the icons in the main dock.
Hide AllApps Bg: Enables/disables the tinted background dock effect for the app drawer icon.
Hide AB Bg: Enables/disables the tinted background dock effect for the icons to either side of the app drawer icon.
Hide icon labels: Chooses whether or not the application names appear under the app icons placed on the home screen.
Use new icon selectors: Chooses between the old and new style of highlighting selected icons. (the outlining/marking when tapping or long pressing home screen icons, or when using the trackball to navigate icons)
Highlight press color: Chooses the color of the icon highlight when tapping or long pressing an icon.
Highlight focus color: Chooses the color of the icon highlight when the icon is in focus. (selected but not activated, like when using the trackball to select icons)
Show desktop indicator: Enable/disable a graphical representation that allows you to know which home screen you are on at a glance.
Autohide desktop indicator: Chooses if the desktop indicator will remain visible or autohide after a short time.
Indicator type: Chooses the desktop indicator style. A Galaxy S dots style or a small top/bottom scroll bar style.
Theme Preferences:
This is for ADW 1.0.0 and above.
Use Theme Icons: Disabling this setting forces the use of the standard Icons for native apps instead if the theme provided versions. (only native apps like maps, contacts, etc are themed, this can create a stark contrast in icon styles between native and downloaded apps when using some of the more styled themes; this can look inconsistent and some people may wish for a more unified icon set)
Select your theme: Select your theme. This is where you will find your downloaded themes listed.
Theme Preview: This is just a preview picture of the selected theme. (if included by the theme dev)
Apply theme!: (button) Pressing this will enable the selected theme.
Get themes!: (button) pressing this will take you to the market app and start a search fro ADW themes.
Backup and restore:
Backup ADW settings: Pressing this will create a backup of all your settings for ADW on the SDcard. Handy if you are performing a wipe when flashing a new ROM (I find that this works better than Titanium backup for restoring ADW after a wipe)
Restore ADW settings: Restores your settings for ADW from the backup file created by pressing "Backup ADW settings". (as I said above, I found this more reliable than Titanium backup)
Backup desktop configuration: Pressing this will create a backup of your home screen icon and widget settings/placement on the SDcard. (I do not believe Titanium backup does this at all as it did not restore my icons/widgets)
Restore desktop configuration: Pressing this will restore your desktop configuration of icons and widgets from the file created by "Backup desktop configuration". (of course you must have restored all your downloaded apps/widgets first, Froyo will automatically restore any apps you had installed before a wipe; you must enable this feature in "privacy" settings, this restore will take some time and Android will notify you when all apps are restored)
If you are having performance issues with ADW, you can change some of these settings to help. Disabling animations will help a lot, as well as any other settings that make ADW more "flashy". You can also try using less home screens, widgets/icons and/or a normal static wallpaper as well. The smaller the memory footprint of your home screen/launcher the faster it will respond, with less/no hiccups in performance.
There is a new Wiki for ADW launcher, as it grows it will be a great source for info. http://adwlauncher.wikia.com/wiki/ADW_Launcher_Wiki
Well thats it, I hope this helps some of you out who are new to ADW. If you have questions, or if I got something wrong, let me know.
I posted this in the wiki as well, some help getting the redirects and proper article location set up would be great. http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=ADW.Launcher_How-to
IE: the official app name is ADW.Launcher, but some may do a search for ADW Launcher or ADWLauncher. Also, the artical should be located in all Android device wiki areas, as there is no Android General section.
Nice guide. =)
Great guide. I didn't read it completely in detail, but this part jumped out at me:

The theming isn't limited to only native apps. The author of a theme can change the icons for whatever they want, so a theme could include every market app, but of course it won't. I bet as time goes on we'll see themes with all the native icons plus top 200 market apps, etc.
Thank you for doing this! I'm getting a lot of FCs at the moment and I've spent a lot of time changing things about in total ignorance.

Well they could, but man at the time involved. They just typically don't theme other icons, but if some gung-ho themer wants to, they could.

Yup, and there already are a few that are doing the common other apps. In fact Ander Webbs is already working with the community to compile a list of the common market apps for themers to use as a reference.

I got FC's on my N1 until I got the 2.2 OTA, I suspect the extra ram or the memory management took care of things, but I haven't had a *single* FC since.
That's alot of work thank you,
Can you change Icons in the dock like laucherpro ?
if not and without using themese can you please let me know how to in a step by step guide since you are very good at those lol
I've tried to use folder organizer, I change the icons but it doesn't apply it for some reason...I have a feeling it's a very stupid thing on my end.
thanks man! good write up

They can be changed but it works different. All you do is drag an icon to the dock and it will replace the existing icon.
And thanks for the kind words everyone.

Faster/Slower isn't relevant, you can adjust both. It's slightly less smooth. IMO on Froyo it's completely a non-issue.
Thanks a lot for guide.
I have found most of it out with trial and error although getting the 2 extra buttons on the LAB & RAB was eluding me!! Thanks

ADW Launcher's swiping speed can be adjusted however you like. But compared to Launcher Pro, it is smoother, on both normal wallpapers and live wallpapers.
I've noticed my app tray is a little jittery using ADW, anyone else seen this? I'm on cyanogen6. I've tried it in both vertical and horizontal modes.
Awesome guide a similar one for launcher pro would rock! I've always been curious what some of those memory and cache settings do and how they work.

I noticed it can be a bit jittery when first opening the app drawer when coming out of sleep or an app, but following open/close would be smooth. You can disable label fade in, that can help, or you can try using a static wallpaper or one that is less resource heavy. Even seemingly simple live wallpapers can be resourse heavy depending on what it is doing behind the scenes. Some system monitors will show a persistent notification of CPU load, use this to find one that uses less CPU when its running. (fpt System Manager does I know, to close the notification you must choose exit in the app, killing the process will not do it)
Thanks for the guide, lovely work.

[LAYOUT] Scrolling Wallpaper 'Dock' - With Tutorial

ClassicalGas Presents..
Scrolling Wallpaper Dock
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Concept
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been experimenting with what I believe to be a unique use for the scrolling wallpaper. If using LP with 6 homescreens your wallpaper scrolls exactly one dock icon (1/5th of the screen).
I started playing around with using this as a screen indicator and dock icons to jump between homescreens using LPP Shortcuts. Shortcuts to all 6 screens are attached. I found you could effectively use the scrolling effect of the wallpaper in place of a screen indicator (although it goes the wrong way).
It takes a bit of playing around with the wallpaper to get it 100%. I've included a .PSD of one of my files, however the others aren't really in an up-loadable state. I've included all the scrollable wallpapers I've made as well.
I hope you get some fun out of this - If you do make something interesting and unique please post here to share it with everyone else!

They are shortcuts to a different home screen when using launcher pro (might need the plus version). Extract them to your "download" folder of you sd card then either long press on the homescreen and select shortcuts - launcher pro shortcuts or, as I do, long press on your launcher dock and change the shortcut of the item to the corresponding homepage you want to go to.
With my setup the far left dock item should be linked to screen 6 with the far right linked to screen 2. Fill in the gaps. Screen 1 becomes a hidden screen this way.
Hope that helps!

Thanx maan! Now i have other question! xD I dont know how can i put the Wallpaper as you. You get in the center and the 1 and the 5 homescreen with the circle of the wallpaper full, but i dont get this, or the circle is not in the center or in the 5 or 1 homescreen only i see a middle circle.. I have 5 Icons Row in homescreen and I dont know if this can affect...
That looks übercool!
Should just need 6 homescreens.
In launcher pro;
Menu > preferences > homescreen settings > number of screens > 6

ehm ... how do you get the indicators to move through the dock?
after a look at your 'Scrolling_Wallpapers.zip' i find the dock and centered indicator included into the Wallpaper *.png's ...
and as far as i can see, there are no icons attached to the *.lps files ...
even though i might out myself as stupid, but i don't get it and don't know how to install :/
p.s. yeah i know how to install / import lpp shortcuts but i don't get how the images change / indicators move
edit: figured it out.
Completely OT but what are the second 2 games in the list? Big fan of RoboDefence and AngryBirds so hopefully the second 2 are just as good.
i don't know the bowling ball, but the creature with four tiny legs and the long nose should represent the game 'doodle jump'
edit: regarding my question two posts earlier ... you may now call me stupid!
i stopped thinking and just started trying
Thanks a lot...Great work...Awesome
You can leave the Dock untouched ... put the labels for the screens over the dock icons and add an gesture with launcher pro to each icon ... perhaps i will post some screens the next few days for mod res @ 200.
Can you post the rainbow wood source pic please ... looks great!

I don't have the link handy, try googling "rainbow wood". Should be one of the first images.

Hi, your theme is great. Just now I have the first problem. I can not change wallpaper. Im use LauncherPro Plus to use and when you try to change the wallpaper, nothing happens. Always be the old one. Sorry for English. thx
Are the page icons (i.e. Tools, Games, Home) available for download? Terrific setup btw.
You're a genius! Thanks so much for this
Wow, thats what I call an ''incredibly amazing'' Layout. Kudos
Question : Is a custom rom like yours required for this ?

For the clock, it seems like you're using Digital Clock but with a different font than mine ? If yes, how did you change the origial font ?

Wallpaper
Does this work only in HO!NO! mod or with the regular CM it should work too? I'm asking because the wallpaper don't fit in the screen exactly. The left side menu text in the background are off the screen (in screen 1) and the lower icons that should became visible through the transparent circle of the dock icon are off too and I can only see half of them.
Besides, when I go long press home->LauncherPro Shortcut I see an empty list, theres no Screen 6 to select (step 4).
I'm using LauncherPro 0.8.2.
Hi Ho!No!
I didn't get it. First of all, where to put the files that is in the zip file? Unziping it, I got a directory named "Ho!No! scrolling theme for milestone" and three directories inside it and some lps files. Where to put this files?
It was a little confuse.

Unzip everything in the HO!NO! scrolling theme for millestone folder (except the psd file) on the root of your sdcard
Took me a while to figure out...
LPS files need to be stored in your SD card, either in the root of the card, or inside the folders “download”, “downloads” or “lpshortcuts”. To add an LP Shortcut to a homescreen, long-press on a blank spot, choose “Shortcuts” and then “LauncherPro Shortcuts”. If you have any LPS files in the previously mentioned folders in your SD card, they should show up on the list. You can click on “Create New” to go to the web-based LauncherPro Shortcut Creator tool. You can also access the LauncherPro Shortcut Creator tool from your computer, and then put the generated LPS file in your SD card.
Once you do that, continue on with step 4.
Awesome job HO!NO!
Just one question tho, the lock screen shows the very first screen with all the icons of the background (settings, news, etc), I noticed in your video that you just have a plain background, how did you change the lock screen background? with lockbot?
Thanks

First thank you
For lock screen i use WidgetLocker, very nice app.
I made a launcherpro-backup of the settings described by ho!no! and uploaded it together with his files. i think this way its much easier now
1) unpack Zip to the root-directory of your microsd.
2) click menu > preferences > "restore backup"
3) set wallpaper*
4) done!
* i didnt use "Wallpaper Set and Save"-App for that. i made it this way:
- go to gallery > search for folder "Wallpaper" (8 files)
- mark one of the files you wish to set as wallpaper click menu/more > set as > wallpaper
- mark the hole left area of the picture, so that the font on the left is marked and click ok.
looks great.
Confusing at first but epic once finished. One more question, what are the Widgets usedfor the clock and weather for the first screenshot? Also what is the first widget for the second screenshot? The one with all the apps? Please reply soon, and thisbis a great theme. Thanks

OK. I finally managed to configure the whole thing and put the whole wallpaper in the background (thanks for that HO!NO!) but when I try to change the LauncherPro Shortcut to blank.png and it gives me an error saying: "an error was encountered while trying to open the selected image". What could it be now?? I'm able to add the shortcut with the default icon and it does work when I click on it, but I need it to be blank of course.

I had this error too, but I figured out that in my MAC it was saying that it has 4 kb, but in my milestone it was 33 kb.
I have just copy it over and it worked again.

Although it had the same size in my pc and in the sdcard, I copied the file over again and it worked! Thanks for all the help guys!
Just a thought, wouldn't it be better if instead of having the left menu in the background and adding blank icons to the lpshortcuts to have icons as the names so you can choose whatever names you want for the sessions and also freely select the background?
I would do it myself but I'm completely clueless when it comes to image handling... what do you guys think?

@afadel;
I have made some changes on the psd file such as put the names in Portuguese and other changes to play nice on my Milestone.
If you don't have the Photoshop, you can use The Gimp (www.gimp.org) to work with the psd file and you can change anything that you need.
