I have the following problem, when I power on my HTC HD2 sometimes does not detect a signal with two different SIM with two different providers. At other times it detect the signals with both SIM. If signal is detected after a time it loses signal (voice and data) and sometimes the signal return after a few minutes, in other cases it is necessary to reset the device. When I reset the device is no guarantee it will function, is a very random problem, both SIM work on another old device (no hd2) without problems. Normally, when it detect signal I can make calls, and after a few minutes the device can not make calls, falls silent and after a while you hear a busy tone, nor are incoming calls.
What could be damaged?
Hello,
Does this happen anywhere or always in teh same area?
From my side, I have a lot of problem to have some signal but I realized it was because my area was far from an antenna (even if being in a big town).
If you problem happens anywhere then, I would recommend to flash your radio: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
Hello.
I have a similar problem - sometimes i also lose my signal. At first i thought that it was random but then i discovered that i have good 3G signal but when i go somewhere where there is only 2G i have no service. this also happens every time it try to switch to "2G only".
I started noticing it after flashing Hyperdroid 3.0 NAND android on my phone in the place of Hyperdroid 1.04 (although i'm not sure it has anything to do with the NAND rom). I have tried flashing many different radios (2.08, 2.12, 2.15) and also different roms - both android and also the original WM6,5 rom.
If anybody could suggest something i would be very grateful.
task29, wipe all cashes & use more stable ROM
Dial *#*#4636#*#* phone information Set prefered network to GSM only, (or CDMA only)
Also press menu and select your band, rather than using automatic

Hi
I have a problem with my Universal that is difficult to pin down so let me describe the symptoms and if anybody can suggest anything then I would be grateful. I think that these symptoms are restricted to the UK T-Mobile network.
WM6 (or WM5 T-Mobile UK latest release)
ROM version: 2.05.00 WWE
Radio: 1.18.00
Protocol: 42.54.P8
ExtROM: Empty
Bootloader: 1.01
These are the symptoms:
1) When the phone goes out of service, it will not pick up the GSM signal without several hard-reboots when back in an area with reception.(It is configured to pick up only GSM on 1800) When it does find reception, it works fine as a phone if I don't move
2) Until the phone finds a gsm signal, bluetooth stereo streaming to my headphones does not work properly - I hear maybe 1 s of sound and then sound cuts out.If I cick stop and play in the player then I hear another 1s of sound.(I use Settings/Connections/Bluetooth, not Comm Manager, to turn on BT)
3) Until the phone finds a gsm signal, I cannot use the symbol at the top to see the phone status without the phone hanging completely
4) Until the phone finds a gsm signal, I cannot use Start/Settings/Phone without the phone hanging completely
5) Until the phone finds a gsm signal, I can access Start/Settings/System/Device Info _except_ for the hardware tab.
6) T-Mobile tell me that there are no blocks on my SIM, number or device
7) The phone works flawlessly with VF-UK and O2 (not tried 3) and picks up GSM reception immediately after coming back into an area with reception
I live in an area without T-Mobile signal so this is a real problem for me because I have to do several reboots each morning !!
Is there an application that tells me exactly what the GSM radio is doing and whether it has connected and then been forcibly disconected by the network ?
Is there an application that forcibly turns on and off the GSM radio without me using Settings / Radio or Comm Manager ?
All help welcome.
Peter
Hi,
I am not sure but It seems after upgrading your radio to 1.18.00 yr experiencing this prob.
Go to Setting>phone tab to Band on SELECT YOUR NETWORK TYPE put it on Auto from drop down list. restart your device.
If you still having prob then download again the Radio and install it because may be you have downloaded the radio is currupted
It's not the radio ROM that's the issue. Actually, 1.18 and WM6 seems to be the 'best' combination for finding the signal after a reboot. I've tried several radio ROMs (including the one released with the official T-Mobile updated WM5 ROM) and have the same issue with all of those.
Peter
Since upgrading to 1.18 I'm having problems that aren't solved when I revert to an earlier Radio ROM.
The main problem is it seems to be "UTMS or nothing", I used to use GSM only, but now when I switch to GSM only, my Universal does not display the little G symbol at the top, it shows some signal strength but then just has the no connection icon where the G should be (or where the U/3G is when not on GSM only).
Because of this, I cannot connect to the internet when on GSM only... it just keeps trying and trying with no success.
Any ideas?
So my HD2, currently on Typhoon's CM7 loses normal connection to the operator whenever I go to the country side or some thick-walled building. Earlier I had stock Windows Mobile, and CM7 on SD and problem persisted on both. Now I have CM7 NAND and it still loses connection.
My guess would be it is a problem with radio, but I have the mostly recommended one - 2.15. What should I do?
my guess would be you have it set to use 3g only, so when it gets to a 2g only area it drops signal? Its unlikely to be the radio version, although i do personally preffer 2.10.50 and 2.11.50 over the 2.15.50, getting a stronger signal with either of those over the 2.15
Sorry for digging it out again but I finally had a chance to go and test it.
I've tried all possible connection options in settings and no luck.
UPDATE: I have noticed that I have only no 2G service. What am I doing wrong? From *#*#*4696#*#* under phone info I have enabled "WCDMA preferred". Can this be a hardware thing if I have 3G connectivity but cant connect to 2G network??
Hi everyone!
I've been having a strange problem lately - at random times and random places I suddenly have no service so i can make no calls. Then after about 10 minutes I have service again and everything seems to be just fine until the next time that happens.
This can happen at random places but also after I return from somewhere where there's not supposed to be any service (from the basement for example) it also takes very long (10-20 min) until I have service again. Also i have noticed that sometimes when I have no bars and can make no calls, I can still go online on mobile internet (not wifi).
It started after I updated Hyperdroid 2.01 to Hyperdroid 3.0. I have since then tried several times to completely wipe everything (have reinstalled WM6.5 (the problem persisted in WM6.5 also) and have wiped everything with task29.
After wiping I have reinstalled radio v 2.15.xx, MAGLDR 1.13, CWR 150MB partition and then reinstalled Hyperdroid 2.01 but i still keep getting the random service drops.
Can this be hardware-related? What else can I try?
"What else can I try?"
Your sim in another phone. Not just for 5 minutes, for a few hours.
Have you looked into your providers network status? Could be doing system upgrades.
Have you inadvertently set to use 3g only?
I didn't know that there was an option to only use 3G. But as soon as I switched to "only 2G" I lost the connection again so it might have something to do with that. How could I disable this "only 3G" (I can't find it near the "only 2G" option).
Also will try a different sim.
Thanks

sorry, not sure offhand, i used to know how to do it in winmo.
So now I have tried dialing *#*#*4696#*#* to enter "phone information" and there ir reads "WCDMA preferred" so that means 2G should be enabled as well. But when I select GSM only i dont have any service and under DATA it reads "fail because Radio Not Available". I have 2.15.xx radio rom installed, also tried 2.12.
Did your tryed to flash a other kernel?
I did. But the same kernel worked for me about a week before so this cant be it right?
Can this be a hardware thing if I have 3G connectivity but cant connect to 2G network??
thats not a hardware issue, sounds like a Rom problem. Test out the radios, and see which one gives you the best signal
I have tried different radios (2.08, 2.10, 2.15) different android roms (Hyperdroid 1.04, 2.01, 3.0, 5.30, MIUI gingerbread) and different WM6,5 roms. I have tried switching SIM cards. I have tried switching off ond on data connection. Have tried switching 2G/3G to 3G only and to 2G only. Nothing helps. I still get no service when I am in a 2G only service area.
Please help. Anybody?
finally, somebody with a same problem as me... i have tried to fix it for 6 month, and still can't get any 3g signal, i have tried task 29, wm 6.5, different android nand and sd rom.
but the 3g signal showed in wp7 rom, have you tried wp7?
I have not. Maybe I will. But my problem is that I don't have 2G signal - I do have good 3G signal though.
Tried to install Windows phone 7. No luck. Still no 2G signal. What does anybody think of this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1190180?

I'm the opposite, but did you able to browse mobile internet with the no signal?? If you can, and get 2g speed then it's not the hardware, as your phone still able to get 2g signal
Sometimes my phone can browse the net in 3g speed even with no signal, so i guess its a software problem??
Two or three times I have had G or E instead of H or 3G in the notification bar but although it shows me that it has service it wont connect to the internet neither can i take calls during that time. All the time that I have 3G or H connection i can take calls and I havent noticed that internet would be slow.
So I have almost given up hope. I have quite good 3G service where I live but still 3G is not that strong indoors and I have too much downtime so my next desperate step would be to open up my phone and see if I can find something wrong with the connectors.. I really dont want to do that..
Hello
I searched and searched for this issue and i can't seem to solve it on my N9005
The phone has the following behavior (controlled with GSM Signal Monitoring app):
While not touching the phone
Full or Medium Signal
Suddenly No Signal or Emergency Call only
After some seconds (or in some cases minutes) Full or Medium Signal again
This can happen several times within minutes or a few hours without happening
While trying to make a phone Call:
Full or Medium Signal
I press CALL
Immediately No Signal or Emergency Call only
Signal comes back
I press CALL
Immediately No Signal or Emergency Call only
This happened sometimes 5 times in a row, other times i can just make a call normally. Technichal support say they don't even have logs of the missed attempts.
What i did already:
Asked for second Sim card - same issue
Installed several TW Legit roms - same issue
Installed several CM12.1 roms - same issue
Imei is ok, EFS is ok (i think)
One strange thing i saw was that GSM Signal Monitoring only "Sees" me connected to one antenna.
When i placed my Sim card in another phone the app logs me always connected to 2 or 3 antennas at the same time.
Update 1: Also, something I just noticed, since this started happening I don't remember seeing the 3g symbol while browsing the internet. It's either edge, hspa or lte, never 3g, which was my usual connection speed.
Update 2: I inserted a different provider sim in my phone and it connects in umts
Update 3: my sim works without connection drops in a gsm only phone
Does anyone know what is going on? Thanks!
N9005 have very bad modem.....
Hello everyone, I'm experiencing a terrible situation with my OPT - O2 2.1.2.
I used to rely on Intelli3G (an Xposed module that switches mobile radio to 2G when screen is off to save battery and then reverts back to LTE on screen on).
This worked perfectly with OPO but I noticed strange disconnections of the mobile data with no possibility to switch on again without rebooting.
I've studied what happens when the phone is asked to switch to 2G Only:
with the *#*#4636#*#* menu I noticed that the network type says "unknown, unknown" and there's nothing I can do to get things working again until a reboot.
In this situation I see that there's signal, triangle is full, but I'm unreachable.
If I keep my radio to WCDMA preferred (with screen off) or LTE/GSM (while using the phone) everything works fine (so far).
My carrier is Vodafone IT, I already changed my SIM card for I thought I had a faulty one.
Anyone else is experiencing these disconnections?

I'm having similar issues. I can only connect with one SIM at a time. One SIM card only connects via 2G. I think I need to go buy a new phone. I've even restored back to old versions without luck. I've flashed the modem too. No luck. This is bad for someone on the road like me. I'm missing critical calls. I'm back to using two phones as a work around.
