HELP!My Epic rotation is messed up and nothing fixes it - Epic 4G General

I had rotation lag on my Syndicate 1.1 rom,so i applied yamaha rotation lag.
Now my epic's rotation is messed up,when i open my settings, contacts(or any app that rotates) it turns to landscape mode!
I Odined and repartitioned 3 times, applied yamaha rotation fix few times, regular rotation calibration and reset NVRAM and nothing works.
Any suggestions? Is there a "hard rotation reset" or something like that?
My girlfriend threw the phone few times but that was about a month ago,and i just started having this problem yesterday so i doubt that has anything to do with it.
Edit:
And when i do "Horizontal calibration" the ball is not in the middle of the target like it should be but all the way at the bottom and it stays there even after calibration.
Im thinking about checking "Phone Bootloader Update" or "Flash Lock"(whatever that is) in Odin because nothing else seems to work.
Update:Fixed(hopefuly it lasts) it by Odining to DK28,mods can delete this.
Update2:Rotation lag is back,oh well i reather have lag than my rotation be messed up.

Go to syndicate frozen 1.2 and then try the yamaha thing
Out could be a bug our something

Did you try doing horizontal calibration and putting the phone upside down?

Yeah i did that before it dint work. But now after 10 Odin Dk28 and EC05 flashes, repartitions and 20 different calibrations i got it fixed, lol.

i have the same problem, (rotation lag) but im on the leakes eh06, i tryed the calibration through the terminal and it says " could not be found" so the sensor is some where else? any help would be great.

Yours is easy, backup and flash another rom that has the calibration then restore backup.
I know that Syndicate 1.1 got it and 99 percent of all roms do,or try to calibrate upside down-just put your phone upside down underneath a table and do regular calibration in settings menu.
If those two dont work let me know.

well i used to run syndicate 1.01 updated every time they did all the way to 1.2, every time ive had to re-calibrate with terminal. also i did try it with my phone upside down with the part i needed to click hanging of the edge of the table, still slow to rotate. any other ideas? thanks for all the help i really do appreciate it!

This what i did and beleave me this is the only way:
1 Odin to DK28 and check Nvram clear and repartition
2 Calibrate the phone in settings
3 Odin to DK28 like u did first time
4 Calibrate the phone using yamaha
5 Calibrate using settings upside down
6 Flash EC05 and calibrate using yamaha and settings
7 Flash your rom and do upside down method, but dont use yamaha because u might mess up your phone.
Yeah it seams that Odining to DK28 fixes alot of problems that EC05 and other odins cant fix, dont know why but dk28 fixed a few issues that was unfixebale otherwise like my boit samsung logo dissapering.

wow thats alot for just a few seconds of rotation time. haha so what i di is just turn of auto rotate and i just slide the keyboard out when i want it sideway. i was hoping for something simple in the terminal. thanks for your help though man. maybe when they actually release gengerbread we will find a way for it to work

Make sure you lay your phone down on a table that is level then start the calibration. When its complete; reboot.
If this doesn't work then idk what to tell ya :\

I tried this method -- Seemed to work at first. But now my phone is stuck in the 270o position. Turned off auto-rotate in settings just so it would stay vertical. Any suggestions?
I've tried doing the command line with the phone horizontal with the edge of the phone on the table. Also tried it with the back of the phone on the table.
I have this problem also. Flashed to one of the froyo roms. Did a calibration, noticed it seemed "stuck" or slow to auto rotate. Flashed back to stock and and went back to EE middle problem was still there. During the course of the night it stopped auto rotating. Odin back to full stock and no fix.
Do the manual terminal command line mentioned earlier in this thread to fix the issues even after rolling back to Eclair. I believe it has something to do with the built-in Froyo calibration in settings. I did not have the auto-rotate lag until messing with that. Very annoying.
One thing I noticed is that because of the bump at the bottom of the Epic when you lay it on a flat surface to calibrate, it's off by about 15 degrees. Which makes it take longer to switch to the vertical orientation. I did it with a small bubble level laying across the top and it responds to vertical much faster.

Yup, after the reboot, it now rotates almost immediately. Thank you for this!
This helped with the compass as well.

No. And unfortunately, even though this fixes the problem; It cannot be baked into roms. Every person's sensors are completely different. No one cfg seems to match more than one person. I'll prolly toss a script to do it in quantum 1.6.
Thanks everybody for your support and taking the time to help out on this matter. !!! Keep up the team work !

Gps issue, won't face me in the right direction

I am running dk28 and haven't had any issues with gps that seem t be all over the forums. When I updated to the new google maps my gps isn't as accuruate as it was ( still pretty close but not as close) and basically when I turn left, it turns right, I go right, it goes left and its a bit annoying.
I uninstalled the update and it still was messed up. Tried re installing and still a no go. Anyone else had this problem? Or does anyone know what I can do to fix it, preferably without flashing back to 2.1 through odin and all that mess?

Have you tried to calibrate the magnetometer? Download Compass from Market and Menu > Calibrate?
Didn't know of compass. There's a compass thing in te new maps though that I did calibrate and it still had issues. Ill try that though
Edit - still a no go

Nothing new really. I've noticed that the compass is pretty ****ty in the Epic period regardless of OS to the point of being almost useless.
did you happen to spin the map on accident?

I've always had good gps til this incident. Sucks, I don't use it often but it comes in handy now and then. Hopefully when, or if, an official release drops it will be better

I was recently having problems with the compass and Navigation going the wrong way. Intrerestingly enough I calibrated the accelromater and it fixed the issue. The phone no longer thinks South it North. I used the calibration method through the Connectbot below. In Froyo there is setting to calibrate it right through the GUI.

This worked for me but I'll take no responsibility if it mucks something else up
1. Download a terminal app from the market
2. Enter one line at a time.
su
/system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha
3. Follow the onscreen directions, while making sure you device is flat.
pay attention to the bump at bottom on back.
I hung said bump off the edge of table
I preformed this AFTER flashing to stock and then flashing my former ROM.
So it was not done in 2.2"

Auto rotate problem

My auto rotate has stopped working. Only way to go to landscape is by opening the keyboard. I suspect one of the sensors may be at fault. Raging thunder was much easier to play when it was working now the turning is sort of sporadic. I tried reflashing to no avail. Anyone have any ideas? I have to take my epic to sprint because the left side of my screen is lifting so ill mention that while I'm at it. In the meantime is there anything I can do on my own?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Try the following: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=926098, you also may want to try toggling the auto rotation box in the settings, and reboot your phone
Also, if your taking it into sprint, you may want to restore your phone back to the stock rom and recovery first, if it isn't already.
Also if you're using a custom launcher make sure the rotation settings on that don't conflict with the original settings. Sometimes you gotta turn the custom launcher's settings off.

My screen is starting to lift on the left side as well. I've dropped my phone once or twice; but they weren't long/hard drops. Maybe this is why?
my left side screen was slightly raised from day 1 out of the box.
Yea it really sucks. Luckily sprint is awesome enough to fix or replace my phone at the service center near me as long as I'm paying for the insurance... and as long as they can prove that I didn't do the damage to it. I can't stand the screen lift more than I can stand the auto rotate. It scares me lol

Alright little update.
I got tired of stock di18 after going back to it experiencing lag on every 2.2 rom I tried. Just flashed the new midnight rom and NOW everything is.zippy as help with no lag. Just so happens my autorotate works now. Did the autorotate lag fix and now its perfect. Might I add gps works perfectly too.
...finally my epic is now finally epic. 1100/2000 in smartbench. That numbers rounded I don't remember the exact figure but point is I luv these devs!

Not sure if this was mentioned, but if you do the auto rotate lagfix: sensorcalibutil_yamaha method, and you get "failed" results, you can go to data/system and delete (or rename):
Ms3c_yamaha.cfg
(I renamed it to ms3c_yamaha.bak)
Then reboot, use the sensorcalibutil_yamaha method again, the cfg file will have been recreated, and it should work.

Yea it works extremely fast. The.phone is flipped and ready to go before I even adjust my hands to use the phone. I love this thing.

[Q] Gingerbread (EF02) Sensor Calibration

My G Sensor has always been screwy and used to be able to at least get it working moderately well in most applications other than Skymap. However the calibration is messed up again and the old method of using a terminal emulator to do
su
/system/bin/sensorcalibrutil_yamaha
isn't working as it is no longer there since I upgraded to the leaked Gingerbread (EF02) build. The config file that used to be located at /data/system/ms3c_yamaha.cfg also doesn't appear to be there anymore.
Any idea what happened to these and how to try to fix the sensors now? The sensor calibration from the settings menu doesn't fix the calibration for me at all.
Put the phone face down during calibration from the settings menu.
Or flash the ef02 plus kernel from the dev forum.... it accidently fixed my rotation lag

I've tried that but it doesn't fix anything. Only way I've fixed this in the past was to remove the .cfg file and run the calibration which created a new one with good values. All was good with that method until a firmware update but I was able to fix it again with the same method. However now with the Gingerbread update I can't use those methods anymore it seems.
Perhaps I'll try the EF02 Plus rom tomorrow but I'm at work with no ODIN ability right now. However this isn't really rotation lag, this is sensors are really off... every bubble level app I try won't level. Sensor readout always shows the up/down pitch between 150 to 175 degrees, never goes to 0 or anything outside those values no matter how I calibrate it.

Ahhh had just seen the rom when I looked earlier. Trying the kernal but no luck on any improvement with the sensor. Doh

I found that flashing the Alpha EE03 rEVOlution Remix Theme fixed my screen orientation lag... Plus it's an awesome theme, so far.
Works fine with EF02, the only thing that really doesn't work is the glass lock screen. Other than that, it's all good.
