Hey guys..
Hoping to not get flamed here but I see a lot of ambiguity on the forums about this and was looking for a definitive answer...
I have downloaded and purchased the premium vers of Rom Manager and am running the latest Clockword recovery...
Just wondering why I am now seeing custom ROM's floating around for my Vibrant on XDA and other places but still when I look in the "download roms" section of Rom Manager I still only see a section for "Extras"?
I have yet to see any cutom roms in there available for this phone....
Am I doing something wrong or is the answer "Patience Grasshopper"...?
I am rooted and have applied Ryans Lagfix among other things....
TIA
MODS...Sorry for posting in the wrong forum.... :/

it's only recently we've been able to flash a rom, most posted ones here are for odin, etc.
give it a bit more time
They are working hard on Cyanogen.... that is all you will need and it will be available on Rom Manager when it's ready. You should follow the developers on twitter.
there are couple of questions i want to ask and needing some sort of a guide although there are plenty here. I just want to clarify some points.
I already 'root'ed my fascinate through z4root and planning to install CWM.
Now after all of this, I looked at this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869990
the DJ05 is what I'm planning to 'flash' and there are 2 files under each category; Radio, Rom, and Kernel.
Does it matter which one to flash from the two listed on each category?
Also, is it required to have a kernel if I get the rom?
thanks guys! this will really help me a lot
You Needed to flash the radio in odin then both the rom and kernel in cwm. You don't have to use that kernel and rom combo though. I am running. Super dark rom and a voodoo kernel but that's just me. But you do have to run a compatible rom and kernel combo.
also, you should stay away from voodoo kernels until you do some proper research.
Question. There are two.links on the link I posted for each category; radio, rom, and kernel. Do I need to use the first or second? Also, do I need to have a kernel after I flash the rom
bumppppppp
Without looking at the post, they are probably just mirrors. Sometimes u get faster download from one over the other.

i don't really think so.. check this out.
Radio:
http://rom.galaxysense.com/adrynalyne/dj05modem.tar
http://backup.galaxysense.com/adrynalyne/dj05modem.tar
This gets flashed via Odin, in the PDA section.
System/rom:
http://rom.galaxysense.com/DJ05_stock.zip
http://backup.galaxysense.com/DJ05_stock.zip
This gets flashed via clockwork.
Kernel:
http://rom.galaxysense.com/1212_test_novoodoo_fascinate
http://backup.galaxysense.com/1212_t...odoo_fascinate
*one is ROM and one is backup. so do i use the first file?
Both links will download the same file. The second link is in case the server for the first link goes down.

Yep =) except for the kernel link... the first kernel is a non-voodoo kernel, second is voodoo so you can choose which you'd like to run =)

sorry for the late reply and th to those who helped me out
after flashing the Rom, is the Kernel optional to have?
Introduction
I've had my I9100G for more than a week now and to date there's no hint of anyone working on a custom ROM or mod for it. I guess we'll have to resign ourselves to the fact that it's not really a popular model for the regular devs and if we want to get some mods or custom roms on our phones, we have to do it ourselves. I'm currently working on customising my phone, but since I have a day job and little actual experience in Android, it's going to take some time before I can put anything out. So I'm inviting fellow I9100G users to join me in the effort to get some mods developed for the I9100G.
Kernel
Firstly, the kernel. AFAIK, there are two available kernels so far for the I9100G - KH4 (Android 2.3.4) and KI1 (Android 2.3.5). There are rooted versions for both, but as of now only the KH4 one has CWM recovery. In addition, Samsung has released the source code for the KH4, but I'm yet to find the source code for the KI1. I'l like to develop for the KI1, but without a source code and CWM recovery for the kernel, efforts are limited. So I appeal to anyone who knows where we can get the source code for KI1 or can help get CWM on the KI1, please respond!
Mods
So far I've deodexed my phone running on KI1 and managed to get the battery percentage mod on it using the UOT. That one's pretty simple. This weekend I hope to try some more mods like the Advance Power Menu, for one. Once I get that done, I'll share on xda. Appreciate suggestions on what mod we can apply that's useful, but too complicated. If anyone manage to produce mods for your I9100G, appreciate if you could share.
Hopefully once we have a few mods done for the I9100G, we can consolidate them into a custom ROM for our phone.
Let's work together to make our phone better!
I would like to join with little experience on android .
I understand our target is to make custom Rom for the g model, but do you think its we can make it possible to flash other i9100 custom roms with sgx 540 processor ?
Can we have a list of things to start with to acheive that?
Btw, i tried deodexeding and i didn't success. Any advice on this .
Thanks

Hi ss219100g,
We can't flash I9100 custom ROMs into the I9100G. I tried flashing VillainRom onto mine, but I couldn't make it work. Needs someone with more knowledge and experience, I suppose. All I can try right now is try to apply various modes I pick up from xda onto my phone.
So far I've managed to apply the Battery percentage and Advanced Power Menu mods. I'll share them later today. I'm still looking around for the next thing to try. Any suggestions?
For deodexing, I used xUltimate. The link's here:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/xeudoxus/47283-release-xultimate.html
Basically, I copied the contents of /system/app and /system/framework to \origi_frame\ and \origi_app\, run the tool, then copied the results back onto the phone. Remember to delete the *.odex files in the phone.
hi, i one of the new sgs2g user.
i would like to join and hoping if we could ever make some custom rom for this version.
but i still noob bout android, and this is my first android phone.
i was able to root my dzki1 kernel, using insecure kernel and abd command, but unable to flash cwm recovery, is there way to flash it?
and other thing, what is deodex and odex? i try google, but could not understand

It's not the one from Odia's thread, is it? I tried that one but it's rooted, but doesn't have CWM.
so meaning to say that until to-date there are no available custom ROM for the GT-I9100G devices??

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm fairly sure the only issues you have are with te modem that's installed causing degraded data network service. I can test tonight as I have a 8100g laying around atm.
Scratch that it was the 9100T i was thinking of

In short:
1) Root
2) Deodex - use xUltimate
3) Use UOT Kitchen
Sorry I can't give more details. I'm away from my PC right now. Please search for the above tools.

i did and that's normal, you get a yellow triangle because you installed an unofficial (insecure) rom or kernel, don't worry about it, it doesn't affect the stability of your phone in any way, it's just for saying that you have intalled a custom feature (rom or kernel)!
Hi, everyone!
I'm using samsung galaxy s i9000(international version)
I'm new in this forum. i would like to flash custom rom cuz the original one runs so slow. i would like some suggestion from you guys for which room i should flash, and how to flash it.
Thank
Look in the dev section for custom roms. The 2 popular ones to start with would probably be Darky or Docs. There's install instructions inside of those threads...

Docs Rom is not longer "Docs Rom", not it's called Rom kitchen, haven't tried the latest versions, but last time I used was very stable and reliable.
You can also try Ramad's deodexed stock roms.
You will need Odin, cf-root if you haven't rooted, and the files for the custom rom you want, most custom roms are flashed through CWM, which you get once you are rooted.
if i download a rom than a kernel. than i download a different a rom will i have that kernel i download.

The new ROM will come with its own kernel.. If you want to use your downloaded kernel you have to reflash it.. If you want to go back to the stock att kernel it can be found in that thread I linked to
Sent from my GOLDENEYED AT&T S4
Either someone has to provide a stock flahsable kernel if the ROM comes packed with a different one. Or you have to run a stock based ROM packed with the stock kernel..
If that doesn't answer your question I dont get what your asking then...
