Is it possible to change to a previously unavailable display language in Optimus 7 using MFG when already in Mango? What would be the exact procedure?
There probably is no way to change the language when already in Mango so a Nodo restore is required before applying the registry settings needed for a correct language pack? Has anyone succesfully changed the language through the update method using MFG?
I also would like to know if it is possible. If somebody has changed the registry with the MFG and downloaded Mango with other language, I would be happy to know how he or she done that.
Procedure in MFG?
01. Your phone must be in Nodo.
02. Dial ##634# to start MFG, then use password 277634#*# to enter the app
03. Go to Engineer Menu -> Other Setting -> Edit Registry
04. Select ROOT_PATH: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
05. Input SUB_PATH: \MUI\Available
06. Input KEY: 040B (this code is for Finnish language)
07. Select data type: STRING
08. Input data: Suomi (this is Finnish in Finnish..)
09. Press Set
10. Update to Mango and you'll have your preferred language in your Optimus 7.
Ok, now it worked (previous post edited)! Get your own language code and -name and apply it instead of '040b' and 'Suomi' and youre good to go Mango with your own language!
Thank you so much for this post! I've changed the registry for the Polish (0415) and now I'm waiting for the update. Hope it works
Okay, I've rolled back to NoDo with a restore point and I've added the MFG menu. So all I have to do now is to add the correct code for swedish language support as stated and "Svenska" (swedish for swedish) in the field below and update to Mango and I'm sorted?
Also while I'm at it; I'm having a little trouble finding out for sure that I have the right code for swedish. Is there a proper comprehensive list somewhere?
Swedish seems to be 041D.
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/msdn/goglobal/default.mspx?OS=Windows Vista
Thanks a bunch, buddy!
And that's with a capital D? The list says lower case, but I put it in the registry with a capital D?
Probably all the same. I put mine with a capital B and when i checked it out after rebooting i remember that the 'b' was in lower case. But as 040B worked with finnish, i suppose that a capital D works with swedish..
What language name seems to be correct for Polish? Polish (Engilsh version) or polski (Polish in Polish)?
I used 'Suomi' for Finnish so i think 'Polski' will work. On the other hand i think that either way (english or polish expression) works. If not, then you just have to reupdate..
I've just updated my phone to Mango. It has Polish language and Polish camera settings (some of the people who updated their phones to Mango with Polish don't have the camera settings - just an empty space). I really would like to thank you, tkay564, for this instruction. You've made my life better

08. Input data: Czech
09. Press Set

You can change the display language on settings. Its the first setting under "Region and Language".
I updated my phone to Mango (I did not know about this setting then)
I would love to change the lang to NL but I'm already on Mango.
Is there a way to change the lang afterwards ?
Guys, I have a HTC HD7 with Mango in english. How I install NoDo for add portuguese to my language? I tried download Windows Phone Support Tool 4.7, but Zune is 4.8, and Microsoft doesn't have Microsoft Phone Support 4.8. What can I do? Ah, I tried to use "takesonetomango" but I can't do. My phone doens't found the update. Thank you.

FYI, Today I bought a used device. The previous owner swears he bought it in The Netherlands and the firmware on it also was dutch but it didn't have Dutch as a display language which is a bit odd.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935578
First I flashed to the Dutch Nodo firmware found in this thread hoping it would give me a Dutch display language, it didn't. Then I updated through the Zune service, yet again it didn't give me Dutch display language.
Then I noticed the second firmware is from 23 SEP 2011 and not 2010, making it newer. The file size also was considerably bigger (350MB vs 170MB), so I decided to take my chances and directly flash that one.
It worked, it gave me all the available languages at once, so no need to manually add them one by one.
Hello,
3 weeks ago I bought a second hand Optimus 7 phone for my 13 year old daughter and I saw that the mango update was already applied by the previous owner, he didn't change the registry before updating. So this phone doesn't have the NL (Belgium) display language.
I found an explanation on this forum to change the registry, so I changed it. I am a little septic to take the risk to downgrade en re-upgrade to have the dutch language on this phone, so I wonder if it would be possible that when I upgrade once the WP 7.8 comes out, the Dutch language also will be downloaded now, seen the fact that I already changed the language code in the phone's registry.
Can someone confirm my thoughts about this because if it would be the case, I will wait until the WP 7.8 update will be available.
My daughter is happy with this phone and she understands most of the menu's but off course she would be much more pleased with a phone in her own native language.
Greetings,
Nic

Can someone help me to install the xT9 Dutch on a HTC TOUCH DUAL 16 key version?
I tried several options and none works.
I have tried adding the Dutch Language pack, but I am not able to make it work cause the IME file hpd.5x4.Dutch.kdb is for the 20 key layout...
When I install the cab the hardware keyboard starts working like the 20 key keyboard.
If I set the language to Englisch, it works (XT9 and ABC), but I want to use the Dutch-libary.
Can some help me with this?
Here you can find the files and registry settings.
An more step by step instruction in dutch you can find here. With those settings I managed to get my Dutch xT9 working on my 16 keys Dual.
Good luck.
I've installed this CAB:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343106&page=5
This afternoon I want to set the registry settings manually and copy the files you give.
Tnx!
The problem is changed, after I manually set the registry values and after I copy the files manually, I could only type numbers in Dutch.
If I set the language to English, all works fine, but if I set it to Dutch I can only type numbers (this is in xt9-mode and ABC-mode).
Anybody knows how to fix this?

Hi,
My LEO has english ROM and Its obvious that all of the apps and stuff is in english - and thats fine for me - i want it that way.
But when typing a message I would like my LEO to use polish language dictionary (useful to Spell Correction, to Word Completion
[XT9] and so on).
I know that it is possible to set different language for text input, but when I open the list of languages to choose from, I see: german, french, etc. but NO polish;/
Does anyone know how to deal with this? How to get polish lang on the list?
install a registry editor and go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Tegic/eT9
click AvailableLanguages and add 0115 to the end of the value like:
0109,010C,0107,0110,010A,0115
then go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Tegic/eT9/LdbFiles
and add a new String value named 0115 with a value of PLlsUN_xt9.ldb
then go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\Sip\LanguageKeyBoardIDMapping
and add a new String value named 0115 with a value of 0915
reboot your device...
It will be there CZ or SK too ?? ? ? Thanks CLEVER MAN ! !!
I think Slovak is 011B, SKlsUN_xt9.ldb, LanguageKeyBoardIDMapping 091B
but I haven't tried so I'm not sure..
Also not sure CZ is in there.. there's no .ldb file with CZ or something.. any ideas what it might be called? I think the code should be 0105.
if the ldb file is there it should be located in the windows folder

Thanks for help.
I followed Your guide but I still seem to have a problem.
I opend text editor right after rebooting my device. I set language to Polish, turned word prediction on and started typing. I entered 1 word and clicked space button to start typing second word. And from this moment my device is not responding (I had to perform restart). I tried it for about 5 times - always thesame reaction.
So I performed hard reset, set device language to Polish (previously i had English). When my Leo was ready I changed the registry according to Your instruction and restarted the device. From that moment my Leo is restarting all the time long. I had to remove the battery and do the hard reset to make it work again.
Do You know what could cause the problem?

I just checked to add Polish but it works perfectly for me.. maybe check your spelling with the .ldb file and check if the file is present in the windows folder.. is it an original ROM?
When you set your device to polish (multi language device??), did you check if the dictionary was maybe already there before you changed the registry? A polish device should have a polish dictionary standard you should say..
Well it works (wejdz w jakies pole textowe->klawiatura->trojkat przy klawiaturze->ust wprow texty->wlacz sprawdzanie pisowni) type kocham then press it to keep it save on word list then type koham and you should be able to choices between both words. Correct one will be at center in order to press space to accept(space soft key).
Unluckly you have to type words by your own to have it in xt9
It loock like not all language could be activatet.
I try to do that for Ukraine but no result.
Hey,
I've installed this value added installer and it changed my whole phone to arabic. How do I get it back to english?
well the only way to solve the problem is to install the whole rom.. i.e. rom in english.. if thats difficult you can live with two lnguages.. in programs go to multilingual support.. unclick disable multilingual support then set ur language to English with arabic support

Don't panic mate. You can still return some english parts of it but not all. Try this first:
1.) Go to the Settings tab (that's the last tab in the slider, far right after the footprints tab)
2.) Count 10 from the very top of the settings and click it.
3.) From there Choose the 1st menu and try to choose english from the 1st drop downlist.
If this doesn't help just try to download this stock rom:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Leo...Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship.exe
or if that is not the stock rom that you are using try to search here:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Leo/
That happened to me before, i have managed to put back some english parts but still it's irritating if you cant understand something that you are seeing on your phone. I have managed to restore my stock rom back then.
Hope this helps mate!
Goodluck. Let me know what happens. You can just reply to this thread or pm me, i'll be glad to help you.
i have downloaded the first link but it doesnt run on my htc hd2. the other link is an index... what am supposed to search for in that list?
well I've installed the value added installer and it did turn my phone to arabic,
disabling Arabic suuport means you're back to zero. however, you just need to change a few parts and all of the English interface will be back:
enable English with Arabic support from the multilingual support option, you'll find it in Misc in the settings tab, or in system in the winmo settings page (that's whn you click menu>all settings when you're in the settings tab).
now soft reset.
go to the settings tab again and choose locale and text > Regional. Personally I set it to UK because it's quite closer to what I use but if you want more advanced options, go again to winmo settings choose system and then regional, you'll be able ro maually adjust each value, even choose how the date will appear: Arabic, English names in Arabic, or plain English.
soft reset and you're good to go
hope that helps
note that the value added installer will be automatically installed whenever you hard reset, which means you'll have to do these all over again, a better idea is to install some of these backup programs which will restore the mobile to it's state at the time of the backup.
Anybody else getting error 8018001E when pushing Mango?
Mine 7392 updated fine to the intermediate 7403 but failed with this creepy error on the final step (2/2: Completing the update) of 7720.
Lg phones are getting the same error.
Any suggestions on how to fix it?
Phone details:
Mobile OS version: 7.0.7403 (updated from 7392)
Firmware revision : 2424.11.2.3
Hardware revision: 3.15.0.4
Radio software: 2424.11.7.2
Radio hardware: 0.0.0.800
Bootloader : 5.8.1.9
Chip SOC: 0.36.2.0
OS: Windows 7 Pro x64 English
Zune: 4.8.2345.0
In my case, i get some similar like errorcode, reason is that i was add several "extra" language strings in Omnia 7 registy.
I resolve that with clean install of OS version 7.0.7004.0 (I8700XXJK1 with retail Nordic CSC), then i add only one language string (040B Finnish).
Maybe clean install is only way to go...
I did the same.
Added Norwegian but also removed unnecessary languages like Italian/Dutch/etc.
Can you please post language codes and names from HKLM/Mui/Languages if you have access to the registry. So I can just try to re-add the string. My backup got overwritten by 7403->7720 update.
From my Omnia 7, Local Machine/MUI/Available:
0407 Deutsch
0409 US English
040B Finnish <---- this is my own string
040C <INVALID STRING>
0410 Italiano
0809 UK English
0C0A <INVALID STRING>
In my error case i remove two "INVALID STRINGS" and add Finnish, Danish, Norwegian and Swedish srtings.
In second time i only add Finnish string and remove nothing.
WP7 Root Tools cannot read the invalid strings, then i dont know theirs contents...
I hope, that this help you...
Otherwise you will be start from clean stage.
Thanks, man.
Those invalid strings. I was worried about them.
Btw, did you get Finnish in Mango after adding the key?
Yes, i have Finnish language now and working internet sharing also.
Camera setting is not localized to Finnish.
Camera settings are now in English, i rename in Windows folder cameramanifest file 0809 to 040B,
then i got camera settings in visible, of corse there is also original English file keeped (copy first original file safe place and then back).
Also i dont have voice commands if i use Finnish language.
System info:
PDA: I8700XXKH5
Phone: I8700XXKG2
CSC: I8700NEEJK1
Mobile OS version: 7.10.7720.68
Firmware revision : 2424.11.8.5
Hardware revision: 3.15.0.4
Radio software: 2424.11.7.2
Radio hardware: 0.0.0.800
Bootloader : 5.8.1.9
Chip SOC: 0.36.2.0
I think that removing the original strings is reason to update failure.
I think I've figured out the reason for the invalid strings.
Can you try this registry editor: http://forum.touchxperience.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=593
Check if the invalid strings are: Français and Español. I'm sure you're using WP7 Root Tools. Seems like it can't handle those special characters.
And you wrote Finnish for 040B, and not Suomi?
You are right, there is not invalid string only special characters that
WP7 Root Tools cant read, ç and ñ cause the problem in this case...
The other registry editor works fine, no problems.
040C Français
0C0A Español
i use 040B and Finnish (not Suomi)
and how about you 0414 for Norwegian ( not Norge)
I tried updating again. First with Norwegian -> Got the error.
Then with the original strings -> still got the error.
I think it has something to do with the firmware.
I see you have a newer firmware (2424.11.8.5) than me (2424.11.2.3). Did you get it with Mango?
Yes firmware update becomes in final stage of Mango update.
I think you must use now tool named WP7 Downloader Ver 7.41 and load
clean firmware (eg.I8700XXJK1).
Dont forget install Samsung_Mobile_USB_Drivers if needed.
Flashing new is firmware fast operaration, about 3-4 minutes.
Remember that, after flashing enable phone go to welcome screen before connect USB-cable off.
And first start firmware tool, and then connect phone to PC.
First phone must be on download mode of course.
Does this tool wipe the phone data? I'm not ready to start at zero.
Yes, first erase all and then rewrite all.
How about correct value data, is it Norwegian or Norsk for you?
I just read value data Norsk in other topic here...
What is your OS version in the backup, 7.0.7392.0 ?
I think that OS version 7.0.7403.0 is too new to make corrections to phones registry.
I make my changes in very early stage (7.0.7004.0).
I see. I've got a 7392 backup. Will try to restore it and recreate the original values and see if it helps.
Thanks for the help so far.
Do you remember reboot phone after registry changes and before Zune update process, maybe it helps.
I'm mangofied.
Reverted back to 7392. Recreated original lang keys. Added 0414-Norweigan. And it worked! And even got Norwegian.
As you said, removing the language keys messed up everything.
Thanks for all help and tips.
Nice to read that you solve this update problem.
How about camera settings menu?
And next - if you need - there is easy and working wireless internet sharing application, install and enjoy:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238519
And now you have also latest firmware (2424.11.8.5), i think so...
- Kari
Camera menu was not there when I selected Norwegian. I read that to get that you've to add some manifest file. I didn't bother and switched to English.
Didn't get 2424.11.8.5 right away. Had to manually install OEM.cab.pks using updatewp.exe.
Reverting back to NODO to fix dev unlock.
You guys, I'm brand new with WP, how do I revert to 7392? I forced Mango but it got me to 7403 and that infamous 80180048 error. Then I tried the method described on goo.gl/iwE9B , but that showed an 8018001E error, which brought me to this thread.
Got any advice? And please bear in mind I'm not half the techie you are and like I said, brand new with WP
