[Q] Can Someone Create Honeycomb SD Image - Madcat HC Hybrid RC3.ZIP - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wondering if this image exist? I have RC1 install on SD, but I can't access market, youtube, etc... I can't add RC3.zip to boot partition as it exceeds the size available. Would be nice if an image with the modified RC3 existed.

You probally won't be able to get anyone to do it as it is a waste of time as honeycomb is VERY buggy.

Please...pretty please
Okay it might be buggy but maybe it will make up for the fact that I missed out on the HP touchpad sale.
I do like CM7 but honeycomb seems so much cooler

You are missing the point. Source code is not available for Honeycomb so any attempts to put it on the NC are riddled with bugs. If you really have a bug up your a** about having a tablet O/S on your Nook wait for Ice Cream Sandwich to be released and it's source code.

Better off running CM7 with a honeycomb theme.

Which is what i did. Running cm7.1 with a honeycomb theme.
Sent from my CM7.1 NookColor

How do you guys do that? I meant running CM7 with HC theme.

The problem with HC for the book is that we don't have source, so things like video are hacked software renders. It's super slow, and prone to crash.

They've got the honeycomb zip over in nook color forum. Anybody dares trying? Or port it over to nexus one?please developers?

If it managed to flash at all it wouldn't work, the drivers and settings would be completely wrong.
Honeycomb is for tablets so this doesn't even make sense.

An AOSP build with no drivers and serious fc's is possible. you want it?

Precisely. Additionally, I managed to try it on my Nook Color, and it is definitely not ready to be used as a daily driver. I'm sure once it's released to AOSP, there will be some nice port for current tablets, and probably even some half-baked port for phones, ignoring Google's intention for this to be a tablet-based OS.

It's not AOSP, it's much worse than that, it's an SDK port.
like everybody said. It's really buggy. Just wanted to try out if any one wanna do something with it

I doubt it's worth trying. If you run Honeycomb in the emulator at the N1's resolution then the Launcher just crashes continuously. There is nothing you can do with it at all.
i did it. works like a charm!......NOT

try changing lcd density to 100 (not that it'd make it really very usable on the device at that density anyway)

[Q] Why is Stock rooted so much smoother than CM7?

I've found that stock 1.3 rooted is a lot smoother in scrolling animations and such... Will CM7 ever attain this smoothness? Yes, i have tried both overclocked at 1.2-1.3 ghz
What version of CM7? Was it an SD card install?
Sent from my LG Optimus V using Tapatalk
I've noticed the opposite, as long as cm7 doesn't have too many apps installed.
Sent from my NookColor using xda premium
What sd card where you using? Not all are made the same.
I've used 7.0.3, 7.1RC1, and nightlies between around 140-165. All emmc
I don't deal with stock so can't tell how smoothness it is but it's a good sign.
If you like rooted stock ROM then go ahead and use it.
I like CM7, but I like the smoothness of stock. The bad thing is the missing features

I have the same problem. My theory is that CM7 is just missing hardware acceleration on the nook at this time (I think I remember reading this somewhere). Maybe a driver issue?
I thought they had that worked out in the first stable release? Maybe that was just video acceleration
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Video is fixed, but that my be a different part of the driver.
(This is entirely speculation on my part, based on my somewhat sporadic - and decidedly incomplete - knowlage.) My guess: there are 3 parts to the video "card" driver. 2D hardware, 3D hardware, and coprocessor functions. When they fixed video, they probably got the coprocessor functions working, but not the 2D or 3D hardware.
There is a good chance I am wrong, so correct me if you know.
On a side note, why cant CM7 use the video driver from the stock FW? It's still a Linux kernel underneath so shouldn't the drivers work, or am I missing something completely?
That makes some sense, but games(at least angry birds haha) work okay... So I dont know.
On using the kernel from stock: they probably can't use the stock kernel, because stock is based on Froyo, and CM7 is Gingerbread

Almost none of the stock rom is open source. I'm pretty sure the stock video driver was never released.
On the topic of smoothness:
I have found CM7 to be much smoother than stock. It probably just depends on your set up.

I just installed 203, and its definitely faster. its nice to be using cm7 again. I missed the status bar. Its quite a bit smoother than the last time I used it. I can also see all apps in the market now, which is sooo nice
Everything is running great, except for the YouTube app. It isn't working for me on nightly 202 or 203
Can you post a link to this V6 super charger script?
Thanks!

It's pretty advanced, just so you know.

Can't wait to root and install custom roms but... [SOLVED]

...I'm truly bummed out about the options.
My KF will arrive in 2 days and I'm formulating my gameplan... Initially I was certain that I'd be able to run ICS, but the progress seems to have slowed on the Hardware Acceleration front.
I've read through all of the "Which rom should I flash?" threads... and it looks like any ICS-based rom is out for me. That being said, I know I still have some options given these requirements :
1) Hardware Acceleration - No Netflix is a dealbreaker.
2) Attractive interface
3) Access to as many of the Amazon stock bits as possible.
4) If possible, I want a rom/launcher optimized for a tablet.
I know that I can flash MoDaCo and load the ICS launcher (or any other 3rd-party launcher) and achieve something suitable... but everything I've seen so far just looks like a blown-up smartphone interface.
What about CM7? Are there any launchers that looks like Honeycomb or tablet ICS? I'm an occasional MIUI user with my DX, but I'm only seeing 4.0 MIUI for the Kindle Fire... Are there any MIUI roms with hardware acceleration?
I'm still guessing that MoDaCo + Launcher is my safest bet until CM9 achieves hardware acceleration... but I'd love to hear some suggestions.
Thanks folks!
Cm7, run my kang, hw acceleration n everything works dandy and looks like ics when setup right.

What exactly does lack of hardware acceleration limit? Is it just streaming video, or is there more?
Also, how close is the community to developing a kernel that supports HW acceleration? I hope to have my Kindle rooted soon and I'm struggling with the same decision.

Hey, sorry to hit you up again... But I've got a question about the Amazon App Store on your rom. It is filtering apps that would normally be compatible on the stock rom. Any idea why this is? Does the app store not recognize a CM7 kindle?
Update: Tried side-loading the apk from another device... Installs, but it says Not compatible with this device. Request a refund... but the app is definitely compatible with the Kindle because I played it before I left stock. Any ideas?

[Q] Quick Question: Nook as Android Tablet

Just wondering, how does the Nook work as an Android 4.1 or (preferably) 4.2 tablet? Good? Bad? I saw the CM10.1 bugs and stuff, just want a quick answer. If anyone can link me to a thread, I did search but didn't find anything really helpful. Thanks.
It is definitely not going to win any speed records, but it performs well.

Awesome, basically what I wanted to know. Thank you!
CM10 is more stable than CM10.1. Fewer bugs and faster.

leapinlar, may I ask quick question?
I have NC with CM7 which mostly is used by my son to play games and watch video.
I tried CM10 about half a year ago and it was slow...
Is it better now? Does it make sense in my situation to switch at all?
Thanks!

Yes, it is faster than it used to be. But CM7.2 is still fine for games and videos.

How have roms advanced? opengl hardware acel . etc

I got a nook color when they came out and put cm7 on it, but last year I got a n7 and have been using that since. I was curious how roms have come along for the nook color. Well, really the kernel. Last year I remember there were issues with hardware accelerated ui, hardware video playback etc.
Has there been development on that since last year? It's hard to determine if these are still issues in current roms looking at their long threads.
Most OP's will explain any issues. We have official CM 10/.1. All versions of Paranoid Android. Some CM7 variants. We're just missing MIUI, and PAC. Also HWA works just fine now.

Don't forget that 720p video now works, it didn't before on the cm7 rom.
All that we need now is usb host mode working.

Is the 720p up and working for cm 7.2 by any chance? I just installed the Mirage version of cm 7.2 but I'm away from my tablet and haven't checked it yet. It's been collecting dust for a couple years now, but if the hardware acceleration is there that would really help it get more use in my house.
If you want something new, try Chameleon OS 4.2.2
