Nexus S sc-lcd problem - Nexus S General

About a month ago i bought a brand new seal packed nexus s sc-lcd variant i9023 which is available in india, and recently found out that it had a dead pixel. So i went with the phone to the service center they replaced the screen with a new display, but again the same problem occurred ...even the new display had a dead pixel. This annoyed me and i insisted on a replacement. So yesterday i got the new seal packed nexus s ....and guess what it again had the same problem. It seems there is some manufacturing defect in these sc-lcds used for nexus s i9023 variant. So please beware before buying the sc-lcd variant.Because i have experienced dead pixels in all 3 displays i have tried till now.I just hope i don't face the same problem with s-amoled screens because i would now be going for samsung galaxy s i9000 because it has the same humming bird chipset and almost identical specs.

U won't have that problem with superamoled displays

3 dead pixels on 3 devices in a row with today's slcd technology is like winning the lottery, gtz.

For your information. Galaxy s at 1.5ghz scores 2k plus in quadrant compare to nexus s that score 3500 at 1ghz.

sure mate ! I know nexus s is a performance monster but this dead pixel thing is very annoying and just unacceptable.

Just pay 5K extra and get the SAMOLED one.

Had my i9023 since it was released, no such issue, screen is still mint.

Same here

hey how to check for dead pixels?

Bought my i9020a SAMOLED Nexus S used, its about 2 years old now (Bell unlocked version), and have no issues. As for performance.... ha ha ha ha if anything today comes close. I had an Atrix 4G and scored 3200 @1.0ghz. My nexus s scores 3300-3400 stock.... so much for the graphics powerful and dual core packed Atrix, it loses hands down. The nexus s may not be the FASTEST or most POWERFUL android but it is streamlined, software, so well it screams. Any Modding and it exponentially gets faster.

Sorry folks. Meant to say 2 months old not 2 years. Have had it myself about a month now. I have a tendency to kill phones within 6 months, usually to find the breaking edge. Destructive habit I know. But at least I can guarantee my advice when I say "DONT DO THIS....." HA as for changing the screen name.... nexusboy.... nah... nexusgod.... too much ego.... Galaxy s2 vs Galaxy Nexus vs Galaxy s3

I've had my I9100 for a while and currently its running Resurrection Remix Rom 2.5.3. I'm kind of getting tired of this phone but don't know which one should I get, I can trade my phone for a nexus or I can spend about 200-300 more on a s3. Any kind of input would be greatly appreciated. Or should I wait for the new nexus phones out due in October?

S3 way to expensive for what it can do, Nexus way to buggy low camera but best software ROM created by Google and S2 best choice in my opinion ...

Keep the galaxy s2 and wait for S4 quad CPUs + Adreno 320
Galaxy nexus will not be an upgrade for you
Because power vr 540 is much weaker than mail 400
Also TI OMAP 4460 is not better than exynos
The camera is 5 MP compared to 8 MP in the S2
The screen is pentile which is worse than your current screen (trust me it is the worst ever in my opinion)
Developers support is much better for the S2 compared to the Nexus
Good luck!
Stay with S2 and wait for Note II or the new Nexus, any other smartphone wont be much better from S2.
Yeah I checked out the nexus in person and I'm just looking for a better looking larger display with lte, I guess I'll hold out for the new nexus

[SPECULATION] Will you buy Nexus 4after Note 2?

So, will you?
Its a nexus device so development will be strong there, as well as timelyGoogle updates vs large screen and stylus and touchwiz?
True HD IPS vs RGB super AMOLED

How is this "Speculation"?

Well,its a matter of perspective...
Just my opinion, nexus 4's snapdragon is much faster than exynos 4. .just saying
seems a little disappointing from the reviews. Was expecting the bechmarks to match that of the optimus g since its built really similar to it and share similar internals. Still a great phone for the price, but wont touch the note 2.
hmm.. where are the benchmarks that say it doesn't match the optimus g? was actually thinking of buying this for someone as a xmas gift..

I have a Galaxy Nexus and I will check 4.2 on it. Not missing original Android at all.
Smaller screen with huge on-screen buttons making it even smaller...
Many homemade roms and kernels that dont bring a lot besides gadgetry and bugs.
No Sd card, no replaceable battery, unproven build quality.
The longer the list the better the Note 2 is looking.
I guess yeah if you are into going from one buggy rom or kernel to another one every two days maybe you need a Nexus 4 for that.
Good homemade roms/kernels can be counted on the fingers of one hand for each phone.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
Engadget claims that the battery of the Nexus 4 is half the battery of the optimus g and phone arena already stated that the note 2 has double the battery of the optimus g. So the answer is no, I don't want to downgrade from 8h of screen on time to just 2 or 3 hours.

www.engadget.com/2012/11/02/nexus-4-review/
checkout the performance and battery details..no where as good as our beast!
To all those people sagging about the performance and battery life issues, the reviewers had test units with totally beta software. in the review of the verge the device is even seen to have a software update available which hasn't been activated.
So:that's not an issue. the hardware is quad core snapdragon and 2GB ram, same as on lg optimus g,which is a beast in performance and battery life, and that's on ice cream sandwich!
Until then, take these reviews with a cup of salt
Again there shouldn't be a comparison between these 2 phones they are aimed at totally different markets.

I could easily see myself buying a "Nexus S2" with the exact same form factor and just upgraded specs... like a dual-core processor and LTE!
Bought mine on release day 2 years ago today! Love this phone. Easily the most ergonomic phone I've ever held in my hand. It is just so comfortable. Still on the original battery, never changed it. No hardware issues (except for that slight green line on the left edge of the screen). A trooper of a phone that has held its ground. Bought into the Nexus program for the Google updates and I have not been disappointed. The dev community is carrying us into 4.2 and beyond. It's been a great 2 years for Android. Look how far we've come. What a ride the Nexus S has been on! GB>ICS>JB
Bought mine on the first day it came out two years ago. This phone has been a beast and omg the awesome development. Though I'm not using it now (I got a GS3 about a month ago), it carries on its glory in my brother's hands. He's loving it! It's sad to probably see development will stop after 4.2. This phone is what a true Nexus phone should be.
Happy Birthday Nexus S! ??

I've had this phone now for about 14 months and is hands down the beat phone experience I've had... Rooted within my first month of having it and was running custom ICS ROMs all the way up til my current 4.2.1 Rasbean Jelly ROM... I don't think development will continue for another two years... I DO think it will get KLP, by port from a dev of course... But the Android updates really starting to catch up to the specs of the phone and were starting to see its limits... I do believe development could easily continue for +2 years... But i just don't see devs sticking around that long...

I will get my nexus 4 in summer, maybe may or June, so should I wait for the n5 or just stick with the n4 ?
And isn't the hardware on the n4 is going to do great handling any apps or games without any problems for a few years ? I mean it's the best out there I think...

Give him a break guys, he's using the xda app and obviously there isn't a search button. And it would have been easier to just answer him than try to be a mean mum.
To OP: You wouldn't regret getting a Nexus 4 mate. The hardware would undoubtedly be outdated in a few years, but it certainly won't fall behind by that much. And you wouldn't feel too far behind from new android versions since this is a nexus.
The glass I think is fragile but putting a case on the back would definitely protect it. But temperature changes (sudden ones) are rumored to affect the glass and cause them to spontaneously break without producing splinters. Based on the data though, one can assume that only a few units are affected by this condition (mine too, unfortunately )
Anyways, it's your decision. If you think you can wait, then get the 5, but if your hands are itchy and want to get a sexy device, get the n4
In my opinion though, wait till june. If the nexus 5 launches and you don't like it, then get the 4, if you do though, then obviously get the nexus 5.

The Nexus 4 is the perfect phone for me, no doubt about it.
However, being the tech geek that I am there is no doubt in my mind I will grab the Nexus 5 about 6 months after it's released (I don't want to deal with launch-day drama and hardware issues which always seem to plague the initial Nexus releases)
I can say, however, that I will only be buying Nexus phones from now on since they have finally stepped up to the plate with decent hardware and specs. The Gnex was a massive disappointment to me, I sold it within four months of owning it.
Same for me. I had the one x for the last year but it has started giving me trouble by not recognizing the Sim card was in the slot.
I was torn between the nexus 4. HTC one and the galaxy s4.
After much deliberation I went with the nexus 4 and I'm so glad I did.
I owned the nexus one before so I am already accustomed to the nexus experience.
I honestly didn't expect the 4 to be so much better than the one x. Snappier. Better gaming performance and longer battery life.
I'm so glad I switched
