I will get my nexus 4 in summer, maybe may or June, so should I wait for the n5 or just stick with the n4 ?
And isn't the hardware on the n4 is going to do great handling any apps or games without any problems for a few years ? I mean it's the best out there I think...
1 last thing what about the back glass cover does it crack easily? Even if I bought a grab or sth?

Give him a break guys, he's using the xda app and obviously there isn't a search button. And it would have been easier to just answer him than try to be a mean mum.
To OP: You wouldn't regret getting a Nexus 4 mate. The hardware would undoubtedly be outdated in a few years, but it certainly won't fall behind by that much. And you wouldn't feel too far behind from new android versions since this is a nexus.
The glass I think is fragile but putting a case on the back would definitely protect it. But temperature changes (sudden ones) are rumored to affect the glass and cause them to spontaneously break without producing splinters. Based on the data though, one can assume that only a few units are affected by this condition (mine too, unfortunately )
Anyways, it's your decision. If you think you can wait, then get the 5, but if your hands are itchy and want to get a sexy device, get the n4
In my opinion though, wait till june. If the nexus 5 launches and you don't like it, then get the 4, if you do though, then obviously get the nexus 5.

It's already announced with the specs on phone arena and other sites I can Google it and see for yourself; tegra 4, full hd display, 2gb ram and the price omg
And the specs are so promising, that's the reason why i made this thread.

I'd say hold out for the N5 if it were to be released around May. I doubt that since the N4 was released just a few months ago. Better yet, wait for that Moto X phone..

Exactly and also it mentions tegra 4? That outdated piece of garbage. Qualcomm is currently the best chip. Agreed tegra has better gaming performance but overall Qualcomm blows away tegra.
Anyway there won't be another nexus coming till October. May be they will have a Moto X phone or something but not nexus. That happens once a year during holidays.

Well,its a matter of perspective...
Just my opinion, nexus 4's snapdragon is much faster than exynos 4. .just saying
seems a little disappointing from the reviews. Was expecting the bechmarks to match that of the optimus g since its built really similar to it and share similar internals. Still a great phone for the price, but wont touch the note 2.
hmm.. where are the benchmarks that say it doesn't match the optimus g? was actually thinking of buying this for someone as a xmas gift..

I have a Galaxy Nexus and I will check 4.2 on it. Not missing original Android at all.
Smaller screen with huge on-screen buttons making it even smaller...
Many homemade roms and kernels that dont bring a lot besides gadgetry and bugs.
No Sd card, no replaceable battery, unproven build quality.
The longer the list the better the Note 2 is looking.
I guess yeah if you are into going from one buggy rom or kernel to another one every two days maybe you need a Nexus 4 for that.
Good homemade roms/kernels can be counted on the fingers of one hand for each phone.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
Engadget claims that the battery of the Nexus 4 is half the battery of the optimus g and phone arena already stated that the note 2 has double the battery of the optimus g. So the answer is no, I don't want to downgrade from 8h of screen on time to just 2 or 3 hours.

checkout the performance and battery details..no where as good as our beast!
To all those people sagging about the performance and battery life issues, the reviewers had test units with totally beta software. in the review of the verge the device is even seen to have a software update available which hasn't been activated.
So:that's not an issue. the hardware is quad core snapdragon and 2GB ram, same as on lg optimus g,which is a beast in performance and battery life, and that's on ice cream sandwich!
Until then, take these reviews with a cup of salt
Again there shouldn't be a comparison between these 2 phones they are aimed at totally different markets.

Well the guy from computer world that reviewed it said to upgrade from the Gnex. I may wait until closer to christmas time (or black friday) to see if there are super quick deals somewhere.
I guarantee if you wait longer, google will release a 32gb Nexus 4 for 349.99 and the 16gb will get dropped down to 299.99 just like what they did with the Nexus 7's.
I'm keeping my gnex. Don't see any major differences between gnex and nexus 4. Also I'm not a big fan of LG, they don't have a good track record with releasing drivers. Maybe LG will improve but want to wait and see.

That's actually a good deal. However you could get 32GB for same price approximately in the near future.
Sell the GN for about $200ish, then spend about $380 (tax+shipping) for the N4.
If you are financially able to drop around an extra $180 for the upgrade to N4, then yeah it's worth it. But if you're breaking your back to spend that $180 or so, then no it's not worth it as the GN is still more than a capable device.
That should pretty much sum it up. Good luck!
Going to get my new phone in the AM, and I have a dilemma..
My wife is getting the SIII..that's a known factor.
I however am torn between SIII and NoteII...main problem being they aren't carrying any NoteII's at Radioshack right now, have to order them, and no telling how long it will be until it comes in (maybe by monday, maybe later).
Should I go ahead and get the SIII or wait for the NoteII? Anyone have any ideas on how the development community is going on these devices? From my eyes they look about the same...but honestly haven't had the time to do an in-depth research for it..
Your opinions would be appreciated.
I'm almost in tha same boat as you but mine is Note 2 now or wait for the S4. If I had to choose between those two i would go S3 from what I kno a lot of the devs from this went to that phone so it would be familiar names there and I'm sure the community is bigger but I haven't look to much into myself jus an opinion

Ahem (just bought the SIII)...
No seriously, I bought the Epic when it was old (actually paid more for it than I did the SIII), and had it until, well, last thrusday...I bought the Asus TF101 right after the Prime launched...I don't like buying 'new' hardware, you never know what kind of bugs are going to be discovered for it. And the SIII launched last May, still quite new, at least to me
In the case of the Prime, it was a disaster and was quickly reissued as the TF700T and phased out..and my TF101 is still kicking hard..
Also, I am not a dev, so I'd rather buy a device that has a dev community already well-established. Something to consider, how long do you want to wait until someone discovers a root exploit and gets a good ROM on your device, unlocks the hotspot, and OH CRAP here's an OTA that bricks your device at worst or at best breaks root and you have to wait again to get root established before development can resume..
On the other hand, all your friends will think you are cool for the first month when you have a brand new, just-launched device that no one else has...I don't have many friends, so I go for the tried-and-true. Not the shiny-and-new.
I bought the Note 2 and returned it after a week. Happily back on my Epic now. lol

The Nexus 4 is the perfect phone for me, no doubt about it.
However, being the tech geek that I am there is no doubt in my mind I will grab the Nexus 5 about 6 months after it's released (I don't want to deal with launch-day drama and hardware issues which always seem to plague the initial Nexus releases)
I can say, however, that I will only be buying Nexus phones from now on since they have finally stepped up to the plate with decent hardware and specs. The Gnex was a massive disappointment to me, I sold it within four months of owning it.
Same for me. I had the one x for the last year but it has started giving me trouble by not recognizing the Sim card was in the slot.
I was torn between the nexus 4. HTC one and the galaxy s4.
After much deliberation I went with the nexus 4 and I'm so glad I did.
I owned the nexus one before so I am already accustomed to the nexus experience.
I honestly didn't expect the 4 to be so much better than the one x. Snappier. Better gaming performance and longer battery life.
I'm so glad I switched

Good luck with HTC. I just sold my HTC OneX+ after 4 months only. Just can't stand anything except stock Android.
Same here, N4 is perfect for my needs.

I was drooling over the HTC One when I first heard of it. But then I thought "Mine is better cuz it's cheaper, *****es".
(I still secretly love the HTC One tho. Please don't tell it to myself or I'll regret buying the N4)

I've upgraded from a BB Curve 3G, So as you could imaging this phone is one hell of a upgrade, So I won't be looking for a new phone anytime soon. Well happy with my Nexus 4

I've been seeing all these rumours about the Motorola X. It looks amazing, and a lot of websites are saying it will undercut the Nexus 4 in price. Should I sell my nexus 4 before it comes out and buy the X when it does come out? Really not sure what to do

It hasn't even been announced. I'd wait.

Jumping to a phone that isn't even announced is a terrible idea

if i wait till the X has come out will i still be able to sell the nexus 4 for the same price as i would of been able to before it came out?
It doesn't look like a serious upgrade from a nexus 4. The differences aren't huge so it would probably be best to wait. Also it's not a nexus device so you lose a lot of the good modding that you get on the 4 and probably has a locked bootloader

sounds like it'd be a better idea to wait for the nexus 5
Yup, but noted who knows what the price might be on that one. Only the Nexus 4 was a cheap nexus phone. The previous ones were all full price phones. So we have to see what direction Google wants to head in

just remember the numbers in nexus devices are not versions like Galaxy and iPhone, but inches

Probably. Sounds like you just want something new. The nexus 4 is on par with the top tier phones out right now (HTC One, GS4) as far as performance goes. My only gripe with the N4 is the camera, but its not enough for me to ditch it yet. We just use my wife's GS3 or our DSLR for that.
The X is nice, but I don't see its release causing the value of the N4 to drop to much. Only another Nexus device will affect its value.

isnt the motorola x the 3 new droids that were announced? or are they different?
Yes sell it! If you want to downgrade. I don't think Google will sell the Nexus 5 for that much higher than the Nexus 4. Maybe 30 to 60 dollars more. I mean look at the Nexus 7, that thing upgraded like hell and the price only went up 30 dollars.

it's cuz it will be 5.3 inches, not 4.7" like Nexus 4

So I'm wrong and you're ignorant, Google hasn't always been using this, just the new devices
see
Nexus 10=10"
Nexus 4=4"
Nexus 7=7"
Nexus 5=5"
now the Nexus 7 has a new version, called Nexus 7 II, not Nexus 8 (following your thought), and so will Nexus 10 (Nexus 10 II), if Nexus 4 gets a new version too, it probably will be called Nexus 4 II, and not Nexus 5, and this discussion is pointless since Nexus 5 is just a rumor someone random started
Don't sell your Nexus 4 now. Nobody has even seen the specs for the x-phone yet and according to the rumors the specs of the X-phone will probably be very similar to Nexus 4.
Wait for the Nexus 5.
But the current nexus 4 is closer to 5 inches. So why didn't they call it the nexus 5? Well I'll tell you b/c the nexus 4 is the 4th generation of the nexus phone.
The naming for the tablets is correct and if they do decide to make a 5" nexus phone next its likely they call it the nexus 5. Google pretty much backed themselves in to a corner with the phone naming. Seeing as they will not be able to call the 7th gen nexus phone the nexus 7.
So I agree with you and the naming, just not the nexus 4 naming.

Yeah I've read its not gonna be crazy just a phone that they want to make sure its gonna work perfrectly. The specs did sound similar to the n4. But again that's just rumors.
There's no reason to sell the phone for one that its not even a year old and it will still get official updates for like another 3 years
