I will release new rooting binaries today or tomorrow, stay tuned.

Does anyone know if 2.4.19 fw is equal to or more stable than 2.1.08 fw?
I am still using 2.1.08.
I have not yet heard of any compelling reason to update my fw at present.
I have also read on various forums of numerous posters who wished they could revert back to 2.1.08 after struggling with numerous bugs resulting from some of the recent fw updates.

I have a doubt, if I update my Archos 101 to 2.4.19, i will lose my root?

I think you'll lose your root, but Churli may help

Yes I updated - root is gone! Blah
lol
But thanks to Chulri he threw us a save! and released the root for it!

I guess they haven't included again the Cinema Plug-in...

No, they don't. The video player asks to buy the plugin online.

Thanks KOCTA.
In that case, I'll remain in 2.3.26

does the Update 2.4.19 support arabic ?
thanks

machhho, I don't know.
After the update interface became smoother, everything is fine so far. Didn't try Skype yet.

I just tried skype video call. it's work!!!

Cool, allot, which device you have ?

battery amount used is consumed more
I feel that my ARCHOS 43 is consumed more than the firmware 2.3.81.
It seems that the Deep sleep isn't running well. (the power light often turns on during Sleep.)
Might the power management have become a strange?

I was hoping this update might fix the sleep issue where if you set the brightness down low then turn it off or let it time-out, it's hard to turn on again.
The only way is to hold down the power button for a while and let go, waking it up with the power-off menu displayed, which you then dismiss.
This happens all the time when using an ebook reader at night.
No change with this update - problem still there.

Thanks a lot.
I understood that it can't be helped. I'll try to reconfigure or all reset of archos43, just in case.
I hope the issue will be remedied.

I have the same problems with my A101, but what I read the only solution is to send the tablet back to service, but even after service the problems come back after a while again

Could anyone test TTS with 2.4.19?

FroYo update- software issues fixed & should be fixes

People running on 2.2 please let the world know about software issues which were fixed. Which weren't fixed?
Since this is only a test-version of Froyo, some issues are still to be ironed out on the final OTA release.
But so far what i have found:
-Wi-Fi always on [fixed]
-Volume speaker and music audio playback seems louder
-Bluetooth issues seems fixed (i don't use BT but have read things are working now)
-Better 3G (for some.. all dependable on your area)
-Improved capacitive buttons response
Also message delivery reports seem to work now.
No crazy screen either that required turning off screen then back on.
The issue that i have is that the screen sometimes won't wake up. You have black screen but the lights of the buttons go on. Next sometimes ot doesn't recognize the sd card ( 16gb class 4) reboot fixes it.
For the rest i'm very pleased with the phone many issues are fixed. Battery life is also great.

Sent via the XDA Tapatalk App
i downloaded the froyo update from the phandroid website. the first 3 days no complaints , but since last night the phone froze 5 times. uninstalled flash 10.1 and the phone is working ok now.
hope they'r listening
hope google is listening, to fix this before the official OTA update is out!!!
keep this goin guys i think this would address alot of issues n1 froyo is having.
*maybe hackers could even find a fix for our issues!!!!
-Crazy screen is still here, yesterday night I couldn't use some widgets because they were opening menus, nor shut it down unless taking out the battery.
-Volume is louder but just 5% while we need at least +25%
-No 4-5x faster menus
-No trackball wake or color config
-No FM radio

?4-5x faster menus?? JIT being there and menus opening faster have not much in common.
trackball APIs are there and are accessible. they are just not used in the google apps. devs are free to use them.
There will be bugs in everything. I for one think this rom has very few.
Especially pre-release ones.
Not that I have anything to complain about really though
I get handies from my phone now.
as someone pointed out earlier the crazy glitch screen is still in the Froyo test build..i sure hope this gets ironed out.

Haha you to?!? I thought I was the only one!
Well I noticed when I send a text or type something and Android doesnt know the word I get an option to add the word to the dictionairy. Also I can now take pictures and upload to FB while listening to music (music would stop playing when I opened the camera). Little things like this makes me proud to be a N1 owner =D
Market is veeery slow, not fixed yet
(used 2.2 rom from Paul)
Two things for me in the google chat/Talk app that are really frustrating -- can anyone reproduce???
1) Voice input in Talk app: If you rotate the screen at the same time as you are speaking a voice input, it cancels the voice input -- i.e. start talking and then accidently rotate the screen and it doesn't process.
2) You can no longer send messages when you don't have service. In the past, you could access messages and buddy list and draft messages that would be sent once you regain service. Now you just get the connection error. Can't even read messages :-(

New A7 owner with a few questions please

An existing Asus Transformer owner who just picked up a factory refurbished A7 for $129 (let me know if interested in source). I really like this device - however, I did have a few issues for which I can't seem to find an answer for via search - wanted to see if someone could please help:
1. And way to enable the g-sensor fix without installing a custom ROM?
2. Any way to force wifi to stay on all of the time, so that I get alerted when new emails arrive instantly?
Thank you! Only rel drawback I see with this device is the lack of multi-touch, but other than games, I don't really use it much anyhow...

Factory firmware is crap period, your best bet is to load one of dexter mod, froyo, gingerbread or honeycomb rom, the dextermod 141 and patch 142 will solve both of your problem, 142 is by far the best thing that ever happen to the elocityA7..

Ok, thanks for your input. I was hesitant to upgrade to a custom ROM because they all seem to break bluetooth... But, I can't remember if dextermod breaks bluetooth or not. I think I'll start flashing away and checck out the alternatives out there (I also just realized that there is no ad-hoc support in stock firmware either).
Awesome little device though, especially for $129 - Same CPU as my Transformer in this little bad-boy! True honeycomb would be nice, be want do you want at this price level. Plus I saw that they are introducing the A7+ now, with true mutli-touch, higher-res, etc - so probably not much interest on their part in upgrading the original A7...
One last question - what about a TUN-capable kernel or the A7? Would love to be abe to VPN into my Cisco-powered office....
Thanks again!

Where did you source an a7 for $129? I was looking to pick up my first tablet and the best I've seen on a refurb is $169.

I can almost gurante you that no one who own the A7 will recommend the 7+, the reason i buy mine was to support an american company in pennsylvania, every time i call all they are intrested in is your personal info they never correct any shortcommings in their software if it wasn't for dexter this table would have die a long long time ago, i wonder what become of the 10" they were suppose to release..

- build.prop (ro.kernel.android.checkjni=false) enables Skype to function (and maybe other apps)
- usb stick support added.
- changed sdcard handler to stock, but with exception it only work until you eject sdcard/usb , and a reboot is only way to remount (or restart vold daemon which is from a shell)
- honeycomb bootanimation added.
- Files app added (for copying network files to tablet) is buggy with pictures handling in folders. (might be removed again)
- VPN (script + vpn settings enabled/added)
- HDMI resolution changer added in settings (480p -> 1080p output available)

Really? I was pretty impressed with this little device even with the stock firmware (especially for $129!). I might even consider the 7+ when it comes out. I owned a $250 B&N Nook Color and this is WAY nicer than that was!
Although, I do believe that Asus has spoiled me with firmware updates, etc - I've never seen a company support their products like Asus does - I love all of the constant firmware updates....

Where did you get the A7 for $129 ?. I just got one from 1saleaday for $149 and thought that was the best price around. I went back to 1saleaday for another one and like it says, it's for one day only. I would like to get one for my son at college since I think it is great once you put on Dexters Rom. Do you have a site????
Thanks Demi
Sure - you can get them @ MicroCenter for $129 everyday, BUT, I found that is an in-store only thing - can't order online. Not sure why they are so cheap, especially being sold @ retail stores! I'm wondering if they should have been $229! Shhh - don't tell anyone - I want to pick up another one for my son too! I originally bought this one for him for christmas, but I liked it so much that I decided to keep it!
So, unless you live close to a MicroCenter, the best I've heard of is $169 @ NewEgg I think it was....
Anyone know of a wifi keep-alive program that works with the A7? I want my wifi to be on 24/7 so that I get alerted instantly of new emails, etc... Besides that, I've found that it just takes way to long to reconnect and go through all of the new email checks, etc every time I turn the unit on it takes the A7 a few minutes to "get caught up" (system is too slow to use while this is occuring), which kind of defeats the purpose of "always on".
I've tried the CM7 setting to never turn off wifi, but it doesn't seem to work (wifi is still off when i turn the A7 back on).
This is the LAST stumbling block I've run into with the A7 - everything has been solved (ad-hoc, G-sensor fix, Market, TUN-capable kernel) - if I could fix this last thing I'd be really happy!
Anyone? Please?
Thanks in advance!
Unfortunately, tablet will turn off all connections if backlight = 0
The only way to avoid this problem is BackLightKiller. It turns backlight to 0.1 or less but not equal 0, so tablet will work and wifi will work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967931
Additionally you must use another app to restore WiFi it it suddenly turns off...
Interesting - I never had it be so hard to force wifi to stay on before on any other device - now I know why (disabled backlight=disabled network connections) - strange.
Thank you very much for the explanation and the workaround - I'll give it a shot today! Does it really destroy your battery life? I guess it would be nice if it were easy to swtich between always-on (w/backlight hack) and the default scheme - this way you could just "enable" forced-wifi whenever you needed it....
Thanks again - I'll give it a shot a report my findings!
Couldn't get BackLightKiller to work... I installed it on my A7 and when I run it, I just get a blank screen with the title "BackLightKiller" at the top. If I press the Menu button, I get an About and a Settings. I'm just not sure what I'm supposed to do with this app to make it work....
Has anyone got this app working on the A7 (and actually keeping wifi on during sleep)??
Thanks!

What do you want this app to do? This app only sets backlight to 0.1, so tablet consumes less energy, but still working and wifi is working, and you able to get email.
Nvidia was freaky when constructed first reference plate on tegra2 aka harmony.
When you pressing power - you pulling tablet in sleepmode like hibernite in microsoft windows. Even alarm stopping work and tablet does not receive any signals except power on.

That exactly what I want - everything on, but brightness set as low as possible. However, this app doesn't seem to do anything with the brightness... When I run the app, all I get is a black screen with a white title bar that says the name of the app. Is the screen supposed to go completely black when you run the app (by turning the brightness down)? If so, thats not happening with mine. The white title bar is at normal brightness and never goes away....

In our case we can not do more. Backlightkiller paints black on 95% display and it consumes less power definitely.
You can use Screen Filter from my list - it sets brightness.
I don't know more solution.

Interesting.... Oh well, thanks for your help! I'm not sure it uses any less power though, becasue the backlight is still at the same brightness, just a blank screen....
This is a major issue with this tablet for my use, which really sucks - I really liked this little thing! But, if it can't even tell me when I get a new email, then it's not very useful to me. Time to rebox it and give to it my 9-year old fr Christmas, I guess! Damn...
Do you think there is any chance the CM7 wifi-disconnect policy will ever work properly for the A7?
Thanks again!
EDIT: Ouch - it's even worse than I thought - even things like Alarms will not wake up the device in order to sound the alarm! Ugh! Surely, I'm not the only one that sees this as a huge usability issue?
Market Help?
I have the Elocity A7, have had it for a few weeks now, running Dexter's 142 update. Works great in every respect ( I can deal with the multi touch lack) except that I cannot get the Market to allow me to purchase apps. I can get the free ones all day long, but get an error every time I try to purchase one. I am using the same account as on my phone, which works just fine. I have tried installing the latest market update and cleared the cache for the market app, still not working for apps that require purchase.
Any ideas?

What firmware are you running? I didn't run into this issue on Finless 1.7 or Lewy20041 Hybryd. You are signed into your account and set the correct time zone under settings? Wifi is set to auto connect to your network? Android gets its time from internet connection, but you have to set the correct time zone. Hope some of this helps.
Running whatever ROM it came with Android 4.1.1 Kernel 3.08 olsen_V402
Yeah just checked and its on correct time zone etc,
Did you upgrade your FW stright out of the box ?
I seem to remember watching a guy doing his unboxing and running into the same issue.
I should add that I run my power stright from the TV USB slot could this be a factor i.e. it completely resets itself in the absence of a constant power which it will obviously not get when I switch off my TV?
Not updating time. Last ideas.

I ran the factory FW when I first got it, but can't remember if I had that issue.
I've flashed several different FW and they offer a huge benefit in performance, stability and bug fixes. I have run it off TV USB power, but it crashed a few times so I'm using the supplied power brick.
It sounds like the system isn't writing updates. Do you have a microSD card installed? Maybe install Superuser and see if that helps unlock writing to system.
If none of that fixes your time issue, maybe it is time to go custom firmware. They offer power off and reset capabilities. I leave MK808B turned on all the time, never turn it off. I reboot about once a week. Takes a while for my accounts to sync, don't like waiting and it doesn't use much power.
Let us know what you figure out.

I have already updated to custom rom finless 1.7 and initially not impressed but I think this in part is to do with the hardware. For example when I first tested finless it was on a 1080i which explains why I only had limited options for display resolution. Once I ran it on my 1080p the options were available and everything looked good again.
The wifi seems pretty duff still albeit I think this is due to a weak signal and not using external power. Going to do a couple of more tests later.
Have ordered one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007SU0BJU/ref=pe_217191_31005151_M3C_dp_1
Hopefully that will help.
oh and good point on the SD card ..... will pop one in
According to another thread the fix is to go into "date and time" settings and turn on the "automatic date & time" setting.
The manufacturer seemed to have forgotten to enable this in the newest firmware

691MB means that most likely, the update is fully wiping /system and redoing everything.
The benefit of doing a full deployment instead of a delta is that while it uses up MUCH more network bandwidth, at least it is far less likely to fail.
Screen lag is no better for me, unless I use max performance.

This is definitely a big plus. I wonder if Tapatalk will work after this update.
I wasn't expecting much from this update to be honest, "Misc. Stability and Localization Improvements" doesn't really give any information about what has been fixed...
I can however report that it has fixed my two biggest issues so far (admittedly this is only after two days of testing).
I haven't had a single SoD since the update compared to one every time the tablet was unused for more than two hours. This was reproducible every time on my tablet; 1:59:00 tablet would turn on without needing to do a hard reboot, 2:00:01 tablet wouldn't turn on necessitating turning it off by holding the power button for 10 seconds and then switching back on. I've now been able to turn the tablet on after leaving overnight for the last two nights
It also appears to have reduced the battery drain (maybe related to the SoD who knows...) when the tablet screen is off, instead of the battery stats showing a constant downward slope it's now a pretty much flat line while not being used overnight.
Again this is obviously early days but it's definitely made a difference to my particular tablet YMMV.
Guys, is it better to update or not? I have root and alot of games , Is this update will wipe and effect on my data?

You can update whit no problem, you are not going to loose any data, but you will loose root access, but use towellrot to gain access again.

I assume you mean SoD?
Sleep of Death; the tablet won't respond to any attempts to wake via the power button after it goes into deep sleep. This used to happen to my tablet after two hours every time. The update appears to have fixed my tablet I still haven't had any issues since applying it.
Still having the weak wifi issue when holding the tablet in portrait mode at the bottom, though I'm hoping when my case arrives that will resolve the issue as it did for my iPhone 4 back in the day...

Adding my case definitely helped some with the wifi drop, though didn't knock it out totally. SoD occurs quite often on my LTE replacement where it didn't happen as often on my wifi only I RMA'd. Factory resets and even no apps installed doesn't change the crashes and SoD issues. Even coming out of console mode it seems to do it 70% of the time requiring reboots to fix. Its almost comical how many crazy issues this tablet as a whole is having out the gate.
I have had zero SOD since upgrading to 1.2. Stinks that it is still happening for some though.
I think it is a hardware issue they are not admitting. I finally call NVIDIA support today to describe the lag and SOD I'm still having with 1.2 and was given a RMA without asking for one.
How do you flash the image files? I just didn't get the instructions from nvidia website. Can someone clarify everything on how to install the update using PC or using recovery? Ta..

When is a stable build for this phone going to be launched?

As of update 15.2016.1805.311, we still have a majority of bugs not fixed. I want to ask if anyone knows when is a STABLE version of the OS is going to be released? Android P maybe? Or at least ASUS should fix the trivial issues that very apparently exist on this phone? I will list some of these issues:
1. Multi touch issue while playing games like PUBG or Dead Trigger (I know this issue is related to all phones running oreo but maybe asus can do something with their next build?)
2. Lock screen at times does not automatically go off after 10 seconds and waits for the whole duration (5 minutes in my case) as set in settings>display>advanced sleep. Lock screen should not use this setting as this setting is for homescreen, by default lockscreen should go off after 10 seconds of inactivity (Looks like some background apps are keeping it awake)(has reduced but still exists as of .311)
3. Snapdragon audio + equalizer vanished completely from play music and other third party music apps after .309 update (each update seems to do more harm than good)PLEASE BRING IT BACK !!!
4. Support for apps like google camera (ASUS, you have promised stock android experience and this goes against that). This will bring a huge improvement in front and back camera performance. Or else, ASUS can develop a better camera app
Its already stable i am getting 12h sot easily for 2 days usage since 309 update.
1 multitoch is oreo bug and will be fixed in June patch
2 lock screen working fine for me
3 you can install manually equaliser
4 camera will not be activated in future updates
The firmware is pretty stable to me. It's more like general android usage issue and this happens to most other android phones.
1) Multitouch is oreo bug but I do feel that phone companies should fix the problem themselves since they are customizing their own rom.
2) Lock screen no issue for me
3) Equaliser I don't use. Not a bug nor something that causes "stability" issue.
4) Camera is working (though not the best quality) and not having it support google camera is not a "stability" issue. They have the rights to not enable cameraapi.

If I may add, ZenMotion gesture doesn't work on me after the phone restart. Needs to turn off and on again in setting to fix it. Normally this should work once enabled even after phone restart.
Other bug is that the screen temperature changer keep revert back to default for unknown reason after several restart (even an unstable custom ROM is better on handling these)
I'm on 311 build too. Still waiting for latest security patch...

I'm on 311 build too. Still waiting for latest security patch...
