[Q] Android Dual-boot? - Focus General

Is it possible to dual-boot the Samsung Focus on Android OS? I'd really love having a second marketplace, but I'd rather not buy yet another phone just to have the Android OS.

Will Android Change to Chrome OS?

I was just thinking, what with Google making their upcoming Chrome OS, does anyone think Android will undergo a change, or a makeover?
Or in fact, a new line of ChromeOS Phones?
Just wondering...
I doubt it... there may be feature cross-merges... but after working so hard on Android, I doubt google would move to ChromeOS... which by the way is a netbook cloud OS, not a mobile phone OS...

+1. Chrome OS and Android are completely separate entities.
I really don't think this would happen. The reason being that Android is not completely owned by Google, its a project by Open Handset Alliance. ChromeOS is Google's OS for PCs. They might share some features but complete merging of the two is something I doubt...
Actually it was talked about not so long ago here.
Whether that is still the case is another question...
I think this is why it's not the best time to buy an Android tablet. With Chrome OS in development, tablets today will be put in an awkward spot without a way to upgrade confirmed.
I don't see this happening because they're meant for completely different functions. Trying to have them merge into one Super-OS for laptops, notebooks, netbooks, tablets, and cell phones sounds like it would yield a terrible OS. Not only that, but there would be certain parts of the merged OS that you'd never use when in a PC style environment and certain parts you'd never use in a cell phone environment.
The other problem I see is that Android OS has absolutely 0 to benefit from Chrome OS. Anything Chrome OS can do, Android can already do it. It's just the internet, after all. (/queue "Anything you can do, I can do better." )
What Google should do is make Android OS their main platform, and then allow Chrome OS to run Android apps.
BOOM!
That would be downright amazing.
I have no idea if that's possible though...
I know emulating Android on a PC is easy. But via a web browser -- can it be done?
Or maybe just a bootcamp-style switching between Chrome OS and Android?
Anyway, Chrome OS seems weak. I tried it when it first came out; not impressed. My phone does all that already. I'm pulling for Android all the way.
.
I never understood why they had two separate operating systems anyway. I would think Android would be a good platform for any hardware that would be better specced than a cell phone.
I think my biggest problem with Chrome OS is that it's dependant on the Internet.
That brings me to think of two issues:
- Constant streaming would hammer the battery compared to non-streaming OS's
- Nobody gets HSPA or WiFi EVERYWHERE.
This would be perfect when we have blanket LTE or WiMax, but not for another year at least.
It just seems like they constructed it like a phone OS
I Like Paul's idea. Although, I'm sure someone will make an emulator or something similar for android to run ontop of Chrome OS. Perhaps a cloud-based/Flash Android will arise, like all of those website desktops available.

Will we ever see...

Windows Marketplace for mobile become bigger and better? I mean there are no apps like MLB live or Scoremobile, things that I think are pretty basic. With WMO 7 coming up soon will Marketplace grow?
6.5 and WP7 are completely different and apps are cross platform compatible. I think the marketplace is pretty much all its going to be. Devs are not going to want to develope for a OS that will be obsolete by the end of the year.

acer f1 can use android??

acer f1 is a WM mobile, Can it use Android OS ? or dual-boot?
Liquid has similar hardware, so its possible but not likely for a while if not ever. If you want android, get an android phone. Period.
moved to the right forum, please post in the correct forums.
it is unbelievable, but i see some book it can be install android

[Q] Android Market help

I would really like to have the android market on my HTC surround and the phone is unlocked. Can't someone guide me to get the android market on my phone. Windows app market is just not cutting it. Thanks.
Really? You do realize that even if you had access to the android market that your phone won't run them, right? Two completely different operating systems.
Yes I do understand that. I would not mind changing the system from windows 7 to android OS if it means I can access the android market. I've never flashed a phone before so I am all new to all the high tech language.
Well, I hate to burst your bubble but I don't think there will be any android for our WP7 phones any time in the near future. If you are unsatisfied you should probably sell your surround and get an android phone.

Android on Ativ Tab 3

i want to install android on ativ 3 , is that possible? , what version do you guys recommend? has anyone tried that? Thank you!
here you can see it
Bump?
Wow, it seems i bought a nono... it seems no one has it or ever heard of it...
It does indeed seem that way. Since it runs "real" Windows you can probably use something like BlueStacks on it? Actually installing Android (and having it work) will require driver support in Android which may not exist; even fairly popular Windows tablet lines like the Surface Pro family have driver troubles in Android.
I've been doing a lot of research on this tablet. Ended up picking up a refurb for $250, and with 64GB I'd like to do a dual boot if possible.
However, looking at Wikipedia, there isn't a single tablet with the Atom Z2760 with Android. They're all running Windows 8.

I'm an amateur developer, finishing up my CS degree this Spring. If someone more experienced than me thinks this is actually possible, I'll look into trying to make it happen. If there are any resources that may be relevant, post them or send me a PM.
I own a Samsung ATIV Tab 3 as well. I have not been using it since after updating to windows 10 it has become extremely slow. On the other hand I really like the pen and its responsiveness.
Have you found any way to install android or another light OS?
Ideally I would like to utilize the device as a digital notepad.
Currently, there are Bliss OS or Prime OS but I am testing Prime OS, I don't expect straightforward and easy installation but let's hope for the best...
@UserBroskyXDA, have you been successfull with Prime OS ? I have windows 10 running on my machine and its extremely slow.
