Ok so I have searched a bit and cannot find anything related to a TV Out for the Dinc. I know I have seen it mentioned on this forum before, but search is not showing any results.
Anywho is it possible to use TV Out on a Dinc running AOSP Rom? (Miui...atm)

I have not heard of it working with AOSP ROMs, only Sense. I don't use TV-OUT at all, but seeing posts about it, it doesn't work with AOSP.
At this very moment, I don't believe so. Although I haven't kept up with any AOSP roms in months. That said, the news (and Verizon support PDF to go along with it) that there is a gingerbread update dropping hopefully this week will bring with it the proper files that AOSP rom developers need to incorporate 720p.
awesome hopefully video out is included in this GB update and can be incorporated into the AOSP roms.
I assume I need a miniusb to hdmi cable or something?

Maybe some one will make a sense-less script that you can use to remove sense but keep TV out on GB. i know Lou had a script that removes sense on his rom. it felt the same as AOSP
Does TV-out work on sense GB roms? I thought it was just working on froyo but I could be wrong. Assuming that source is going to be released now for GB, maybe we'll see something implemented into AOSP GB roms?
I have no clue about tv out compatibility on gingersense roms,I don't have a use for it. But I will say there are quite a few people anticipating updates in EVERY rom with 720, tv out, kernel development, or glitches being ironed out. I'm happy everyone gets a piece of the pie if and when the source is released.

I haven't seen it on any Gingerbread ROMS that I know of... I last had it on WarmZ which was Sense 2.0 on Froyo. The closest I figure I can get to AOSP with TV-Out is LauncherPro+ on the Sense ROM of choice.
I've been patiently waiting for it to show up on G-Bread. The cord is just sitting right there begging to be used lol I have no idea why they can't implement TV-Out on AOSP roms though. Seems like one of those features that just gets thrown in uknow.
what cord is needed? I assume the correct drivers will be found when the source is released.
I assume the GB source thats coming will fix TV-out in both Sense and AOSP roms.

Wow, I didn't think that existed -awesome! I'm assuming composite is as good as it gets through USB, no component or HDMI?

yup, composite is it. no component or hdmi. works well actually. though I usually just use it for podcasts through my receiver.

Its equivalent to a DVD player or a Wii; it looks really good on CRT TV's and kinda whatever on an HD flat screen... I have a 32 inch CRT and I watch movies off the phone on a regular basis, its pretty awesome
What's a CRT? ;-)
Good info though, thanks. I've been curious about the TV-out functionality of the inc.
I purchased from my Verizon store the TV out cable. Yeah, it works like the last guy said. I picked it up primarily to watch movies on my girlfriend's CRT TV. It worked great. Then she got an LCD and it didn't look quite as good.
I lost TV out once I switched from Sense to CM7. We'll see what happens with the coming GB update. Maybe I'll switch back. I doubt it, though, especially if TV out may be coming to AOSP ROMs.

video looks good, but the processing power of the phone is limited so I've had stuttering issues with higher resolution videos that would look good on an LCD. not the cables fault.

Is this a defect? Do I need to return the phone? I'm working with all the latest OTA updates.
I've tried to force 720p and 480p through settings, and tried auto-detect.
If I have it on the gallery app in a slideshow and plug it in, I see the "HDMI" label in the status bar before it goes black.
Strange thing is that the buttons still light up and go off with the HDMI cable plugged in if I hit the power button. But I can't use the power button to turn it back off. I have to do a battery pull.
PITA! HDMI was one of the reasons I bought this dang phone?
Can anyone out there think of any reason why this might be happening?
Thanks for any help.
You're not the only one. My cable is collecting dust somewhere for the past month. Maybe cyan will fix it? This is my first htc and I'm starting to think I shouldn't hold my breath for the company to fix it. As time progresses, I'm liking this phone less. I don't know if all htc phones are like this that it seems like it was rushed to market too soon without fixing the glaring bugs with it.

I share some of your sentiment, but not all of it. I still love this phone. But HDMI was one of their big, giant marketing points that got me to buy it. A phone with an HDMI out! That's crazy! Also, when I think of what I can do with it it's pretty cool.
But for it not to work at all? Not one bit? That is just crazy.
My theory is that they didn't realize what kind of copyright hell they were unleashing upon themselves when they put it on there, and so they intentionally broke it. If they ever release some kind of source code maybe one of these chefs can make it work.
Can you try another cable that is known to work? I've been messing around the HDMI output the past week since I got my cable (Molex #687860003, from eBay), and I think the implementation is pretty fault-tolerant. I've been plugging and un-plugging it repeatedly and never had a lockup, with and without the Gallery/Video application active. Blu-Ray rips at 1280x720p look and sound amazing for such a small device. There was some discussion on another forum about a bad run of Amzer cables (that caused lockups), so maybe it's worth borrowing someone else's cable and giving it another go before turning in the phone for replacement. Good luck.
I use it everyday without a problem (Youtube).

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, I don't have another accessible. But you are correct in that I should try it with another cable (and probably on another TV as well).

By "old" fps fix, which do you mean? I'm using the netarchy-toastmod 3.7.2.a kernel, which supposedly had hdmi fixed. (I'm going to update to the latest now, I hadn't noticed there was another.)
Should I be using a different kernel?

What color is the notification light on the phone? is it one color or can is do pretty much any color under the rainbow, or just a few? BGR is the only source I saw officially state that the notification light is in fact a notification light and they only said that it is red.
If you wouldn't mind loading some apps on SD card testing their open/close response.
I'm also interested in the notification light.

Wouldn't he need Froyo for that?
It looks like there is a system app called GPSSetup. Can you run that? What does it do?
Please post some videos of it in action. Doing some benchmark test from popular apps would be nice too

natually you need to do some real world testing of the GPS to see if it actually works and is accurate. Take a drive somewhere with google maps loaded up and see how well and accurate the GPS please

Just driving around is a pretty unrevealing test. If you are going to field-test the GPS, please use a little more rigor than that: Install and use My Tracks to capture several tracks on complex driving courses with stops, turns, and fast curves. Also some walking courses. You can upload the results to Google My Maps and post the links for others to peruse.
Then use GPS Test and report the results being shown when getting an outdoor fix (number of satellites seen, used; reported accuracy; SNR levels for satellites used, time to first fix.)
Alright gang.
First tests:
1.) Notification light - red.
Can't test any other colors. Don't know if it can change.
2.) Quadrant benchmark - 960. I/O score improves, 3D, etc. Most improved by a little. I/O a lot.
Here's my benchmarks: http://briefmobile.com/samsung-epic-4g-benchmarked
3.) GPS -- worked well with initial test. Found me in my court outside. Will do more testing later.
4.) Speed of the phone - unrivaled. Possibly the fastest, baddest Android-powered device yet. I own a Captivate, and this thing BLOWS the Captivate out of the water.
When I apply the EXT2 lag fix on Captivate, it brings Captivate up to par with the Epic 4G. But, Epic is fast right out of the box. Boot up times are nice and fast. No ten minutes of loading crap.
Sidenote: Wish I had the Epic drivers. I have no way of connecting this thing to my PC. Of course the driver site isn't up yet. The phone's not out for ten more days!

Can't run this without any drivers to connect...
Bluetooth - 3.0 like all Galaxy S devices.
FM radio - no way to test... I'm assuming it's disabled like the Captivate. No radio application.
TV out - I'll see if I can test it later today... but I don't think I have the right cords.
You should be able to run this from connectbot and your pc should see the sd card without pc drivers.

Yes, the version of TouchWiz is slightly different. Not any better or worse necessarily. Just a different version.
Samsung has told me previously that the TouchWiz would be updated with the Android 2.2 rollout. But, all of the Galaxy S line devices will be receiving updated skins with 2.2. A few changes coming to every one.
I have a few questions. First I'd like to know if the Epic 4G has video out like on the other Galaxy S variants through composite cables via the 3.5mm jack, and HDMI through the micro USB port? Thanks in advance

Hi, I've been very, very happily using Galnet's MIUI and basically using MIUI for an age but I've recently had a housemate move in with a big TV and was thinking about going back to a rom that features RCA TV out. I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for a good rom that features TV out via 3.5 RCA cable? Or if it's even worth it? It seems Froyo was the way to go?
Thanks.
I might be wrong but I tought that all CM7-based ROMs lacked this feature.
I assumed that all Samsung-based ROMs had it.
Yeah that's what I thought too. But thought some Gingerbread ROMs had problems with TV out? Can anyone vouch for the quality. I'm new to the TV hookup thing? Thanks for your response, mate.

It would be nice if it could be implemented in CM7
However it isn't a show stopper for me, as I have an N900 which has TV out which I now use solely as a media player in the car (as it already has built in screens) I tried it on the TV once, but to be honest it wasn't brilliant
Not sure what games would be like from the Galaxy on a big TV
Hi all,
First , i'm french , so my english is maybe bad at moment...
So , i see that with the cyanogen mod , we can use wiimotecontroller to pair Wiimote with SGS2. but with touchwizz it's impossible (i'm with revolution rom..)
Someone try to take "bluetooth" files of cyano (with permissions of course) to try it on touchwizz ? or all the system block it ? thanks ..
Blue.
I wish this would happen too, but I don't think it will anytime soon.
And why would someone want to use wiimote with am android device. Could you give practical examples? I have a wii but I dont know what to do with the remote on my android
Sent from my U20i using XDA Premium App
Emulators. They play amazingly on the SGS2!
Can you imagine having everything on your phone, your favourite classic games, and you are just bored waiting around for a flight for example? Can just take out the SGS2 and Wiimote to kill some time, perfect.
Or if you have an MHL cable, hook it up for TV, and play. Better than packing up a whole console to take around with you (for example to a friends place) than having everything almost perfectly playable on your SGS2.
jpxdude +10 ! i play to Secret of mana (a old game i have on Snes) and with a wiimote , i can have a better gaming experience
Once one of the AOSP roms is ready you'll be able to link up ps3 or wiimotes to your hearts content. Not long now... Could always load the tw launcher in if you really miss it

The issue isn't Touchwiz but the bluetooth stack which Samsung (and HTC) use doesn't support the method of pairing to the Wiimotes, where as the Cyanogen which is based on AOSP does.
The only option would be to flash an AOSP based rom.
This will be genial... Im waiting a stable pt br rom with this function

Yeah, instead of the Sixaxis use the Wiimote. But I doubt that, because of the different Bluetooth protocol?

Why not just use said emulators on a PC that has a Bluetooth card installed? It would make more sense. I'd rather not use a controller on a device that I need to play close to my face to read the text designed to be viewed on a much, much larger display.

Disadvantage of using an AOSP ROM is no TV-out with MHL support.
FYI, SixAxis Controller works on stock based ROMs. I am on stock XXKI3, and it works... so you can use this in conjunction with MHL out to use ps3 controller (tested; only works with original Sony ps3 controller - knock-off I tried does NOT work) and pipe video out to TV using MHL.

You are wrong. Those tegra drivers are needed for hd in ics.
I would assume that the kernel will be implemented in the latest CM9 kang, no? Any word on when a new version of that is coming out? They must be trying to fine tune it as there isn't a whole lot left to sort out. I mean pretty much the camera, some wonky animations and HD video playback. Even with those "drawbacks" it blows honeycomb out of the water. It truly is amazing!!

Agreed...as soon as they implement pershoots newest kernel into the most updated Kang I'm reflashing ICS....
The camera doesn't really bother me but as a daily driver, I need HD video playback.
So excited. I would assume the official Sammy release of ICS should come soon as I'm guessing they will push ICS to the 10.1 first out of all their tabs as it is technically their "ace" in the "bullpen" if you will.
I am completely not interested in an official Samsung update. This is the first ROM that I have ever flashed and I have no intentions of going back to stock. If it helps ROM development that would be great but a world without touchwiz is a beautiful thing.
How is 720p playback in this rom?
