am interested in using my 2g O2 sim & my 3g O2 sim in the exec, as i have 2 separate contracts. What product would you recommend? will the XDA II ghost dual sim holder fit/work? and is the combination of 2g & 3g sims possible? Thanks
dual sim holder
just oredred an xda exec and have the same query regarding dual sim holders. i will be using orange and 3 network sim. has anyone found out if the xda2s dual sim holder is compatible with this device?? thanks in advance
How do these work then? Say I'm using one sim for voice and one for data, obviously I can't use both at the same time (or can I?). So, when I want to go online, do I press some key combo and then the handset soft resets? Can it be made to automatically redirect all calls to the other sim and then cancel diverts when I swap back?
normally 2 sim cards go into a holder and the holder has a single sim which goes into the phone. you turn phone on and ONLY ONE sim card is active the other is effectivtly off. turn phone off and on (in our case flight mode) and the SECOND sim is active and first one is off. with some software from wivit you can actually control which sim is on/off from the phone itsel without switching phone on/off and some digital holders provide that facility via STK software built into the XDA phones. that is how twin sims work, but the main question is has anyone tried this with the EXEC model just yet???
So xiasma you could use one for voice and one for data and try to remember which one is on and which is off.
just to update everyone
i took the gamble and bought a dual sim card holder designed for the II/IIi and tried it in my EXEC, and............ IT DIDNT FIT!!! hehehe
guess we'll have to wait for a dedicated EXEC dual sim holder

I made it fit!!
I have the same dual sim card holder and in order to make it fit I removed Exec's sim card holder. You can easily remove it by pulling it carefully out. It's pretty easy. Afterwards, place the dual sim card without the sim holder and overturn it. Then place the battery over it and with little push you'll hear the "clip" sound which means that the battery is placed. Finally, place the plastic cover and voila!
nope, tried it. there is no way u can place it under the battery without causing IMMENSE pressure underneath it. will wait till they release one that can lay over the battery as opposed to under it.

Yes, actually a dual sim holder that could lay over the battery would be better.
However, it's not that bad as you describe. Did you REMOVE the pda's sim card holder before trying doing what I did?? This way you gain more space under the battery.
Hi all
Demon could u please tell us whether u used both 3g n 2 g sim cards with ur daul sim adapter and did u had any problems when u mixed a 2g sim with 3g sim?

No, I haven't tried to mix a 2g sim card with a 3g one. Ive done it only wit h 2g ones.
I have also trimmed cards but not for this specific dual card holder. I did it for another one that you had to switch off the phone and on again to change the active number and it worked pretty well.
Hi Demon
Thanx for quick reply
Whats the name of ur dual sim holder which ur using for exec and is this the one which i need?

And also
Do u hav to switch on and off to use the other sim card or is it the one which gives u a option to choose from sim 1 and sim2 without switching it off?
Thanx again

It's the one you have to switch off and on again your phone and I bought it for my XDA IIs I had before from the guy of your link.
Just bear in mind that sometimes it doesn't work on Exec. I mean that even if you switch off and on again, the sim card doesn't change and you've got to do it again. I don't know why this happens, I didn't have such problems with this dual sim card on my XDA IIs.
Did anyone manage to find a dual sim holder that works with 3G USIMs?
I could really do with one, but am struggling to find one
hi
i am awaiting delivery of 2 different type of dual sims,
one which requires the sim card to be trimmed
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....7710&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_ReBay_Pr4_PcY_BIN_IT
the other will take 2 sims with out cutting sim cards
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-No-Cut-Du...ryZ43805QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
also i will try a sim card reader/writer if both of above fails
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-USB-MAGIC...ryZ27330QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Have anybody tried this sim card reader/writer, they claim that it can write up to 12 sim info on one sim and u can use any one by just changing it from the options in menu
Any way will post my experience with both 3g and 2g sim cards and with their combination
But if anybody knows anything about this reader/writer please post here ..

For a start that's a fake product, so god knows how it will perform.
see here http://www.sim-max.com/?language=en...d.php&main=newspage.php&down=en_copyright.htm
I have a sim max reader and 12 in 1 card, but they only work with V1 sim cards (All I've managed to clone is a cpl of really old Orange sim cards)
All the others either just don't copy, or don't copy and feck your sim card!
Nice idea tho
Hi Hollinshead
Were u able to use them as advertised , like change to different no.s and were able to make calls with them (the old orange sim cards u copied)?

Yeah it works fine with the orange sim cards, its an amazing piece of kit, not cheap tho!
If only it would work with v1.2 and v2 sims it would be mint!

Have a look at these links which talk about dual sims for 3g phones and
O2 exec
Will get at least one of them by saturaday and will post result for a trimmed pay as u go 3g sim and later about the un cut one

and also there is lots of talk about STK function which gives u option to switch sims online, dont know whether it will work on exec?
Demon can u elaborate how did u managed to fit that dual sim holder, r u using it now and any problems
i m bit fearful about playing with sim holder
ok bye
After working good for a while, my phone is not able to recocnize the Sim Card, it does not give me any signal , when i see the phone option i see tha t the phone is abe to read the Sim card beacause my phone number si displayed on the screen but it does not give and signal, do you guys think it could be the Hardware
Please help
hi im due to buy an o2 xda executive heres what the guy has put in the advert
( It has one significant fault which means the phone functions do not work, as it has difficulty in recognising when a SIM card is inserted. I have used it with O2 and Vodafone SIMs and it was sold to me as unlocked, but most of the time now it says a SIM is not inserted, even when it is.)
what i want to know is does anyone know if this is a common problem and is it easy sorted is it ususaly software or hardware related and is it worth buying if the price is right then geting fixed or is it a problem easily sorted something i could do myself
btw i need help quick if possible before it sells
thanks
Talking about phones in general.. this is usualy a hardware problem.
Perhaps you could find out how old the unit is and (if under a year) claim off the warrenty?
thanks
ahhh cool thanks for your reply
i was just thinking the guy emailed me and said he reset the device to wipe all his info off it and now its showing that it has a sim card in it but he has done this before and it goes back to how it was (showing no sim card )
my question is wouldnt this point more towards a software problem rather than a hardware problem
help update please
right i got the thing now it wont work with an o2 sim
so i popped a vodaphone on in and it worked for a while
then i took sim out looked at sim holder and sim contacts and all looks perfect so i put the vodafone sim back in and im back to the invalid or missing sim card error what next guys ?
when the device boots up i get these three things on the screen
r 1.04.02
g 42.37.p8
d 1.13.82 wwe
i suppose thats the 3 things you were teling me about ?
could someone point me in the direction to the files i need and the order i need to put them on ?
and mabey a quick readthough or point me in the direction of a post relating to this problem
i get similar things when my xda boots too. I am pretty sure everyone does. Does it display an error message with the O2 sim in? Providing the phone is unlocked to all networks, this shouldnt cause a problem.
TBH I cant see that it not reading the sim could be a software problem (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). Even though the contacts look clean, you could try cleaning them anyway. I use the rubber-end of a pencil, or an elastic band if I cant find one. But dont go rubbing the contacts away altogether.. lol
ah right sorry ignore the (suppose thats the 3 things you were teling me about ?) bit in the post that bit was for another forum the reason why i typed all the info on where the thing boots up is because someone told me the radio may be corrupt and to reinstall or install the newest one so thats why i typed all that info and i was wondering where to get the files from in what order to do them and was there a sticky and where is my bloody pencil with a rubber on it !
Just to confirm, you ARE using a 3G sim, right? I don't think it works with normal sims
3g ?
no im not using a 3g sim but the vodafone one i tried worked for a while and that was not 3g i have also cleaned the sim card contacts and the phones contacts to no avail
i have also just unlocked it using the HTC_Universal_Radio_for_SIMunlock_v0.00.00 file
still wont recognise my sim
someone mentioned elsewhere that the radio stack was possibly messed up and i wouldnt be able to use the wireless connection ? but i can so that rules that out ? so its possbily hardware related but all looks ok inside

FYI mine worked fine with a normal O2 sim, bar the 3G stuff ofc
suggestion
try putting a piece of paper between the sim and the battery to push it down a bit. Its a longshot but I know of someone who had a similar problem and it was solved like that.
Hi
That's right try to use a piece of paper stick right behind the sim card to push aginst the sim card to force a good contact, but before doing so try to use a Q tip and small amount of rubbing Alcohol to clean the sim slot metal contacts because from time to time the metal contact might being oxidize and preventing it from a good contact with the sim card. If after trying all this still not work than you might want to try flash it with a new Rom.
any ideas what next please
hi
i have tried the paper behind the sim i have tried the cleaning of the contacts and i have upgraded the radio so as the title says any ideas what to try next as none of thme make my universal think theres a sim in it it just says missing or invalid sim ?
also at the moment my radio is 00000000 so its unlocked but if iwanted to upgrade it whats the best one to upgrade too ?
is it either UNI_radio_1[1].08.00 or is it best to upgrade to UNI_radio_1[1].09.00
and what do i do with the nbf file ? is there an upgrade program please
update
hi all
today ithought i would try a vodaphone sim out of my works phone in the universal and after 3 resets it worked the phone kept a signal for about half an hour then went back to the invalid or missing sim error so i put it in flight mode then turned flight mode off and the thing worked for the next 5 hours but now after leaving it alone for half an hour im back to the error ?
anyone any ideas please
another update
hi
last night i flashed my universal with the sim card in and when it booted up the phone was working there was a strong signal e.c.t. it stayed on for hours but when i got up in the morning and checked it it said missing or invalid sim card so i put it in flight mode then turned flight mode off and it started working again it has now been on for like 3 hours so has anyone got any ideas why it keeps coming up with this missing or invalid simcard error because i would like to get it fixed
i havnt got a clue what im talking about but could it be the antenna or something ? or is there something else i could try
thanks for all your help so far

my phone is samsung galaxy s4 , model:GT-i9500. It is made in korea by samsung . It has an IMEI too. I put my simcard and it was working , I made calls too but one day I entered into engineering mode and selected simme lock option . It contained many other options like network personalisation, network subset personalisation, service provider personalisation, corporate personalisation, SIM personalisation. I selected SIM personalisation option putting sim card and it asked unlock permanently , I selected yes then the option appeared grey , slowly the network range gone then again I selected all other options and unlocked permanently then all options appeared grey , then I was not able to make calls . I removed the sim & put it again & it didnt worked. I put the sim in other phone it worked but not in my phone. I then switched off my phone and wiped & reset factory settings many times , but phone looked new as that when I bought , only thing sim didnt worked, it showed network not available . now I am not able to make calls. After every reset option simme lock in engineer mode is still grey.
please help me with a solution , I want my phone to work like earlier . I read several threads in this but not solving my problem, i installed severals apps but no way .
please help me with a solution as fast as possible

You can try replacing the SIM tray, but where you messed around with the service menu I don't think it will help. Take your phone to Samsung for service.
hi everyone,
i was gifted a single sim variant from vodafone spain, i got it to dual sim following tutorial on xda , would thank for it before everything, now i have a question my phone only has one imei number that means it isnt really a dual sim, one simcard would be offline while you are on another calling or answering, so question really is does dual sim variant of p8 lite ale-l21 have two imei no´s , if someone can verify that by checking on dial pad *#06#, that would be great help , if someone can verify that then next and progresive step would be to repair imei using some profesional software like hcu client or sigma key, i think if it has only one imei on dual variant also then there is no way single sim variant can be really dual,,,
thanks for reading :good::good:
Dual sim has two imei, i can assure you.
With what version(ale-l12 c432bxxx) came your phone?

to tell you honestly i didnt check at that time, i followed tutorials and now i am on ale-l21c432b560, did download a vdf spain firmware that says b181 in filename so that should be it most probably, my one is going on to recieve signal from both sims but when you are on call other one is offline, it should be related to imei for sure

Try downgrading to b056 and then use updater to get to b170 i had problems with my imei once and solved it that way. I'm not sure it Will work but it's worth a try. The user sokoban has all the files you need on his website
hi,
i still havent tried downgrading as suggested but i managed to get second imei by repairing it using hcu client, so now i have two imei1 and imei 2, but it is still doing the same thing if i am on one line other one goes on to offline mode, so i will try the suggested step and see what happens i havent got anything to lose as atleast both sims are working just not at the same time.
thanks

Keep us updated. that's the only way we know wat works
well it didnt work, because the phone it self even though has two imei numbers its not prepared for dual sim active, its a dual sim standby , so hw doesnt permit to have both sims to be working at same time, so thats it one more adventure done, but one thing i was able to do is get bot sims working including microsd card with it ,, you will have to modify the sim tray and microsd card and sim both with have to shed some plastic to get it thin enough to make it work but its possible ,,, sorry huawei ...

That's Actually... AWESOME....
Please tell me you documented that. Or at least show a picture
You need to unlock your network service in order to use dual sim .. maybe you used different network for sims ... try to use both sims with the same network and see after.
yes why not,, but please anyone who does give it a try you would risk breaking microsd and sim its a risk i took for expriment and broke a microsd but got things working, need good skills and patience, and yes it can be done.. you can see in pics i broke one doing it then i tried on a 2 gb one and it worked absolutely fine, most important part is do not over do it, and be prepared to get sim tray out with bit of force once it goes into the slot, so you will have to trim the sim and microsd both of them to minimum thickness possible, then the sim tray woul have to be modified if you pay attention sim sits into a bracket created in simtray, so the hack is to trim that space so that sim almost goes through the tray, now thats it be brave and insert it into the slot try to get it in a bit go out again and slowly letting the tray go into more and more.. hopefully that helps ,,, please do not try this if you dont have patience, took me around 6 hours to figure it out,, and dont blame me if u break any stuff..
tomorrow gone put get 32 gb card for this new shiny thing,
thanks everyone
i am in spain, all phones sold here are unlocked by law, from 2015 onwards, sim locked phones always ask for unlock code except damn iphones that need to be activated, so i am pretty sure it isnt the case aleast not with this one i have. but thanks,,,and as i told i did check specs on gsm arena and it says its a dual standby so it must be hardware that wont allow that,, or that should be it,,
