My way to unlocked HTC HD7 with Mango RTM 7720 with my native language Norwegian.
This small guide requires that you come from a NoDo rom that is Chevron unlocked. in.ex this:RUU_HD7_HTC_Europe_1.69.401.01_Radio_5.54.09. 21_22.33b.50.10U by ansar

Thx to the following ppl for the info I have collected/copied to make this guide:
Ansar
jemaho
Budniu
longshot442
Cotulla/DFT
and possibly more.
1. Download the package at the bottom of this post.
Included in the package is (Listing the things you need in there):
-Zune 4.7 / StartZuneLocal.exe
-WPSupportTool-x86.msi
-WPSupportTool-amd64.msi
-WP7 Deploy - Great tool to sideload, just drag a .xap file to the wp7-deploy.exe shortcut and it will deploy to your device.
-RegistryEditor 1.1.0.0.xap
-TouchXplorer.xap
-Unlock_Mango_XBMODDeployer.xap
-Update_Mango_XBMODDeployer.xap
Install to your PC in this order:
-StartZuneLocal.exe (If not allready on zune 4.7)
-WPSupportTool-x86.msi or WPSupportTool-amd64.msi depending on your system.
Optional:
Install theese if you don't allready have them (Not sure if required, but they wont do harm)
-dotNetFx40_Full_setup.exe
-vm_web.exe
-Win32OpenSSL_Light-1_0_0c.exe
-WP7AdsSDK.msi
2. If not done so, download the 7720 package from this thread. That contains Zune 4.8 and other tools, and ofcourse the RTM 7720.
3. Be sure to have the latest chevron unlocked NoDo rom on your device.
a. If you don't have chevron NoDo rom, please follow ansars guide here. I won't cover that.
4. Connect to Zune 4.7 (4.8 might work also, but some have reported that it don't..there is sollution to that, but I wont cover it here)
5. Deploy these tools to your device using the WP7 deployment tool:
a. RegistryEditor, TouchXplorer and Unlock_Mango_XBMODDeployer.xap
6. This is how to add more languages then the default 5 languages that comes with the 7720 build:
a. Find you language code here if you don't know what your's is. Mine is Norwegian 0414, other examples is Japanes 0411, Netherlands 0413 and Russian 0419.
b. On your device, find and open the registryeditor you deployed in #5
c. Now enter HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI\Available and add a new string. Now enter your locale, I used 0414
Name: 0414
Then enter you languages name in
Value: Norsk
If it was English/WWE then it would ofcourse look like this:
Name: 0409
Value: English
d. Exit the editor.
e. Next step in adding your language will not be done before after updating to 7403 (That is where I did it)
7. How to keep chevron unlock when moving on from (in my case) 7392 to Beta 7403
a. If you don't allready have this: Run Marketplace, select HTC Apps and select and install HTC ConnectionSetup
b. Start XBMOD.Files.Deployer (Installed in #5) on your device, it will install a file called CustClear.provxml. Remember to uninstall XBMOD.Files.Deployer after its done.
c. Run TouchXplorer and copy CustClear.provxml from My Documents\My Ringtones\ to \Windows, then exit Touchxplorer.
d. DO NOT RUN CONNECTION SETUP NOW, IF YOU DO, YOU WILL LOOSE UNLOCK IN 7403.
e. Connect to Zune, and if it do not promt you to update to 7403, then check for update using settings in Zune.
f. Ofcourse....update your device to 7403.
g. Now on your device, go to settings/Region and language. If you have followed my guide correct, you should now see your language available, choose it and reboot.
8. Now that you should have your native language, we can move on to keeping chevron unlock after updating from 7403 to 7712.
a. Move to the 7720 package you have downloaded, and locate the Zune folder. In there is StartZuneLocal.exe, please run it to update to Zune 4.8.
b. After Zune have updated, locate the folder called UpdateTool (also in the 7720 zune folder) and choose the correct tool for your system and install it.
c. Connect your device to zune, and make sure its in sync mode, not guest mode.
d. If zune promts you a update, do not start it, just skip it.
e. Run Connection Setup.
f. Deploy Update_Mango.XBMODDeployer.xap to your device using the WP7 deployment tool. Remember to uninstall XBMOD.Files.Deployer after its done.
g. Run TouchXplorer and copy CustClear.provxml from My Documents\My Ringtones\ to \Windows, then exit Touchxplorer.
h. Now run Connection Setup again.
i. Deploy Unlock_Mango_XBMODDeployer.xap to your device using the WP7 deployment tool. Remember to uninstall XBMOD.Files.Deployer after its done.
j. Run TouchXplorer and copy CustClear.provxml from My Documents\My Ringtones\ to \Windows, then exit Touchxplorer.
k. DO NOT RUN CONNECTION SETUP NOW, IF YOU DO, YOU WILL LOOSE UNLOCK IN 7712.
l. Check for the 7712 update in Zune and update your device. (This takes long time)
m. When updated to 7712, Run Connection Setup on your device. Check that its still unlocked by opening TouchXplorer.
9. We can now move on to keeping chevron unlock after updating from 7712 to 7720.
a. Deploy Update_Mango.XBMODDeployer.xap to your device using the WP7 deployment tool. Remember to uninstall XBMOD.Files.Deployer after its done.
b. Run TouchXplorer and copy CustClear.provxml from My Documents\My Ringtones\ to \Windows, then exit Touchxplorer.
c. Now run Connection Setup again.
d. Deploy Unlock_Mango_XBMODDeployer.xap to your device using the WP7 deployment tool. Remember to uninstall XBMOD.Files.Deployer after its done.
e. Run TouchXplorer and copy CustClear.provxml from My Documents\My Ringtones\ to \Windows, then exit Touchxplorer.
f. DO NOT RUN CONNECTION SETUP NOW, IF YOU DO, YOU WILL LOOSE UNLOCK IN 7720.
10. Now the final chapter in the update saga; Moving on to RTM 7720 with chevron unlock (and ofcourse with your native language)
a. Connect your device, but close Zune if it's running.
b. Copy the "RCToRTM" folder located in the 7720 folder to "c:\" and only there.
c. In the RCToRTM folder, locate the "ISVTo7720.bat" and run as admin (right click on file...)
d. If all is done correctly, then your phone should begin updating to 7720.
e. After update is finished, you must run Connection Setup to keep the unlock.
f. Open TouchXplorer to confirm if the device still is unlocked. (If not, you will get a message that it has been revoked)
UPDATE: If running into the problem that the ISVTo7720.bat is closing, you can try open taskmanager (ctrl+alt+del) locate any process with the zune name running, and close them. Now run ISVTo7720.bat again to see if that worked.
I am sure that this guide could be better in this or that way. But this is the way it worked for me
DOWNLOAD

Does this also change the display language? Because in the availlable 7720 update files only 5 languages are available??? I find it hard to believe that only changing the language code without having the correct languagefiles in the update results in changing the display language.

Dear,
Maybe u can try my way Just copying the CustClear.provxml to Folder Window of Winphone7 and after u flash ur WP7 to 7720, just run Connection Setup (the one u download from market) so it can read the registry that is in Custclear like Unlock, prevent unlock and unlimited apps That may way, u can try this I did it and it work still now
CustClear attached below, just rename it and delete the ".txt" and then copy it to Window of WP7, my way is attached Custclear.provxml.txt to Hotmail, read it on WP7, save as phone Then use ToucXplorer to change name and delete ".txt" then copy it to Window of Winphone 7 (Every step u have to do in NoDo with still unlocked) The u push it to Mango 7712, run Connection Setup so it can read registry from CustClear, and again u copy the CustClear to Window then flash to 7720, after that run Connection Set up again
Pardon if my words is stupid and useless Cause i'm still a newbie here, i tried and it work so i wanna share
Pardon my languages too

Nice guide, but in my case I had v.7712 unlocked and after updating to RTM 7720, there was no reason to run connection setup again. The phone remained unlocked.

Corretion if following your steps it is indeed changing the display language. Thanks your post was realy helpful.

chevron unlock fails after a while
I've managed to update folowing the first post. Update went perfect, still unlocked after update. Touchxplorer was working. After update of my apps touchxplorer doesn't work anymore. Device stays unlocked but I can't open touchxplorer anymore. Is it possible that updating the connections setup app causes this problem? Did anyone else run into the same problem.

I get as far as the 7403 and zune says it is up to date. How do I get to 7712 when zune says I am up to date

i think you need a custm rom.

finally installed it and working OK. The only thing is live is not syncing my contacts from live or gmail. Does anyone have a way to sync or is there a bug in 7720.

Is there any way to add languages after upgrading to mango?

Not for now
We can't access/edit the registry in Mango yet. And besides, the additional language needs to be downloaded and installed with one of the Mango updates in the process.
But I am pretty sure someone will come up with something soon enough, but for now, as far as I know, this method described in my thread here is the only way

Thanks for the info
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App

hey guys is there a way?

does this way work with arabic language?

NoDo7392 to Mango 7712 SMS still Intact , but if ...
..if i update to 7720 Mango will all the SMS still intact???

How to Get Early NoDo on your Surround TUT...updated

Your device needs to be dev-unlocked for this to work. Use the first two steps below to unlock. If you have already unlocked, skip to step 3.
First, download the WP SDK developer tools from here. You'll need them to be able to sideload and install the necessary XAP files.
You will need to developer unlock your device using the instructions here. It was tricky for me, as it took the better part of an hour as well as a hard reset to get the Chevron unlocker to communicate with the phone.
Download the attached .zip file below, and deploy the TouchXplorer, HTC Connection Setupfiles and ChevronWP7.Ringtones.xap from this package onto your device. I have inserted the proper .xap to change the carrier setting in the registry.
Run the ChevronWP7.Ringtones.xap and wait till it displays “Ringtones added… and CustClear.provxml underneath”
Run the TouchXplorer app, navigate to My Documents/My Ringtones click on CustClear.provxml and select Copy from the Application Bar.
Navigate back inside TouchXplorer to the Windows folder.
Select paste from the Application Bar, this should scroll right to the bottom and put a copy of CustClear.provxml in the Windows folder.
Now run the Connection Setup application and click on the Ok button (it’s the one with the tick).
Follow the directions here, but after disabling the the data connection on your device, wait 5 seconds and then hang up the VPN connection. The update will almost immediately appear. (Suggestion came from CR1M1N4L. Thanks!) YOU MAY ONLY GET THE PRE-NODO UPDATE AT THIS POINT. If so, you'll need to repeat step 9 after you've updated to get NoDo.
Run the update from Zune and enjoy your NoDo Surround.
Can confirm this worked for me on a Telus Surround.
Confirmed
Yeap it work for me too on AT&T
Updated first post with proper ringtones.xap.
Worked!
This worked great! Thanks for the info.
I also discovered after following this tut that you can quite easily get your own ring tones following these steps. Apologies if someone has already posted this.
1. Select a sound file (MP3 and WMA seem to both work) and email it to yourself.
2. When you receive the email on your phone, tap the attachment to download it completely.
3. Tap the sound file to open it.
4. Tap the Home button.
5. Open TouchXplorer and navigate to Volitile\EmailAttachments
6. There will be sub folders depending on how many attachments you have recently opened but serch through them until you find your sound file.
7. Tap the sound file once to highlight it then select Copy.
8. Navigate to My Documents\My Ringtones and paste the sound file there.
9. You should now be able to select your sound file as a ring tone.
Worked for me. At least I hope so. It's currently at 58% on step 7
Edit: It's complete and it works, but it seems it's relocked my phone. Not a big deal for me since I only unlocked it to do the update. Still, I haven't been able to unlock it. Just a warning for those with side loaded apps. It made me uninstall touch explorer. Funny thing, I haven't had a desire to unlock this phone in general until the nodo update, though unlocking and flashing was the thing I loved about winmo, which i used from the HTC 8125 through the Tilt/Kaiser.
Outstanding, folks...just outstanding.
it worked for me too.
but i used different solution.
Solution 2: Using a VPN dialup connection, here, after i connected to the VPN i disconnected my internet and continued, i instantly received my update even without turning cellural connection off

[SOLVED] Zune Mango update?

Is anyone having success flashing Mango on their HD2 through Zune?
I was able to use the "force" method to update to NoDo (7392). But Zune will not find any more or the Mango update no matter how many times I try the "force" procedure.
I've installed the latest drivers through Windows Update.
Its a known fix for some including myself..send the devicepro.cab via cab sender and then hopefully zune should find 7720

I've never been able to figure out how to install cabs on my HD2/WP7. What is the procedure for using can sender?
Here is what I get when I try to install the cab.
Wow haven't seen that error code before
when u download the folder there should be a tool update folder select x64 or x84 according to your pc
Download device pro.cab place in folder no other cabs and hit the cab sender

Okay...so I put the device pro in the x64 folder, then run cab sender?
EDIT - still no go. Zune still won't find any other update after NoDo.
The screenshot of the folder is where I put the device pro cab.
I finally figured it out. I put the cab sender file in the x64 tools folder and also the device pro file in there and hit cab sender. It updated and then began the OS update. 7403 was first then 7720.
However, after installing 7720, it rebooted for the purpose of checking for more updates. The phone froze after booting. Now there is a cleanup update for the beta files but it errors out.
Well done...you were not meant to put them in that folder but if it works then why not...have you installed the beta update then? So the devicepro.cab made a difference
Zune can be very tempermental, with the beta update i manage to install it after 8 or 9 tries...in guest account reserve space 15 % and on welcomepage..

Yeah, thanks for help. But I need to know how to send cabs to my HD2 with Mango. I'm not succeeding. Can you please explain in detail where the necessary files need to be and what files need to be there?
I'm trying to remap the buttons so that the call button is set for the camera and found a cab for it, but I can't get it to install.
Eh...nevemind, I accidentally figured it out. Thanks for all the help, though.

you need to put the cab (OEM_DEV_KEYBOARD_2.cab or OEM_DEV_KEYBOARD_3.cab) that you want to send into the "WP7 Update Cab Sender" folder, next to the WP7 Update Cab Sender.bat file and the tools and logs folders.
Delete or remove any previous cabs that are there.
edit; oops i am getting slower, well done

yes dxdy did at the end of the first thread.
@dxdy did you need interop unlock first?
no... i dont do any (interop) unlock....
i installed new memory card and just upgraded to mango final and do hard reset phone... nothing else
procedure is simple
1. deploy DeployProvXML.xap
2. run DeployProvXML from start menu (when automatically close, this is OK)
3. now you can check registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software. there must be DeployProvXML... enter inside and look for key LastOperation. under LastOperation must show "file deployed"
4. exit from registry and under start menu, run Connection Setup (install from HTC app if you dont have it)
5. now go again to registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/DeployProvXML. under LastOperation must show "connection setup"
thats all
Sorry dxdy, which registry editor are you using? touchexplorer is now working but cannot seem to find much in the way of editing.
Registry editor isn't working and neither is advanced explorer
registry editor for mango from touchexperience

Thanks dxdy, I had version 1.0 installed!
Got a bit worried that 1.2 didn't install but found it in settings.
+ have got "connection setup"
Thanks again

OK, this worked but I have another questions:
1. If I want to change registry I have to create some CustClear.provxml file where is set what I want to change, right ?
2. How can I create the this CustClear.provxml file ?
3. Where I have to put this CustClear.provxml file, inside the DeployProvXML.xap file ?
4. So if I have to put this CustClear.provxml file, inside the DeployProvXML.xap file I have to identify somehow the particular registry modification like DeployProvXML2.xap and in start menu will be also DeployProvXML and DeployProvXML2, isnt it ? How if I want remove DeployProvXML and leave DeployProvXML2.
Thanks for help.

Phone app wont work and tried reset/downgrade

I was exited and tried to use the cab sender batch program and I upgraded from 7720 to 7740 and then 8107 and now on 8107 when I press the phone icon I can't get it to open it will half open then close, anything I do wont work, and now I cant call anyone that isn't in my contacts. (can't access the dial pad)
What I have done:
1: Hard Reset the phone didnt work.
2: Try to use cab sender and downgrade to last working verison of 7740, but cab sender says " no applicable packages"
3: Battery pull
What else can I do?

Not familiar with cab sender hack. I assume this bypasses the need for zune. Zune does a backup that could be used to restore previous versions of the os. If you have done previous backups, you may want to consider the zune restore process, reverting to a previous is version. Then you can allow the normal update process to take place.
Good luck.
Actually that worked! Thanks, so if anyone else has this problem, what I did was restore with zune and then I just went from 7720 to 7740 with the cab sender because I knew that was the last working version.
DVP phone app error
can't seem to find a backup file before my 8107 update is there another way to roll back/ downgrade cab files or force update a different cab file?

7.8 from Mango in one download and 10 steps

Everything you need from Mango (DVPs normally upgrade to Mango on their own) to 7.8 is there..
#1 - First be sure your phone has gone through the normal procedure to 7720 (Mango)
#2 - Then go here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/15491148/Update - DVP.zip
Done.. and done..
This worked amazingly well - thanks for posting all the right info and files together in one easy place!
Thank you! It worked!!

OK.. First off remember to move the CABs in order to the folder th BAT file is in, don't move the BAT to the CAB folder.
This will work with any version post Mango.. Just start with the set of CABs you last ended with.
IE, if you have 8107, go to the folder after 8107 and use those CABs..till 7.8..
Other tips..
1) Make sure you have upgrade via Zune to Mango first
2) Make sure Zune is off
3) make sure you install the WP07 support tools before running the BAT file.
4) to ensure a clean install of all filess.. Hard reset the phone. Before installing all the CAB files.
Hope that helps.. Remember when all else fails read the directions.

> You will know it done with each step, when your phone and the command line says Success! (This will come up each time you go through the Update procedure)
> Don't try to run the BAT file without moving the CABs into the correct folder (results it will not finding the files to update with)
> Don't try to run all the CABs at one time (From all the folders) also can cause problem
> DO copy ALL the files from the INDIVIDUAL folders for each run.. (Some updates required 1 file, some 2, some 3, etc.)
So remember :
Create folder and unzip all the files and folders into the directory (We will call it UPDATE and put it on the desktop for example)
Install WP7 Update Tool (See folder --> update tool - INSTALL FIRST)
Start by moving the files in CABS/7740 folder to the main UPDATE folder you created (the one with the BAT file in it) and run the bat.
In command windows hit <S>
Let phone go through the upgrade process
After successful upgrade, move the 7740 file(s) from main folder, and replace with CABs from the next folder (8107) in the order
Run the BAT again.

Also, This will work with any version post Mango.. Just start with the set of CABs you last ended with.

Just followed this on my unlocked AT&T DVP. Went from Mango to 7.8 in about 30 minutes total, with no issues during installation. Still testing the phone out o see if everything works, but so far so good.
Awesome stuff dude, thanks! Very easy to follow instructions that are noob safe.
Worked.
Thank You.
FWIW, I had success upgrading using this method from 8773, without resetting the device.
Didn't work for me!

I already had the 8773 update, thats why I was getting error. I started from folder 8779 and it worked fine.
If you try to run BAT file as Run As administrator , you will also get different error related to update file not found.. so make sure just to double click to run bat file or run through command prompt!
Awesome
You are GOD in my eyes !! ;.)) - totally worked ! - i had a 7720. fw in my dvp, - i upgraded with these cabs , and voala - it's worked !!
=.))
Thanks a lot! Sprinkled your magic dust, said the magic spell and it worked!
Awesome utility!
A big thanks to cdgoin for writing this incredibly useful program!
Had a couple hiccups getting it to work for me...thought I'd post them for the benefit of others...
1: I was getting a 'Choice is not a recognized command' error message initially. Turns out I guess XP doesn't have choice.exe installed by default. Got a copy from Microsoft's Windows 98 resource kit and installed, only to have it tell me it didn't like one of the command switches called in the batch file. Went in with a text editor - Looked like the /N switch was OK but the other wasn't (/M?). Deleted that and was finally presented with the menu as described.
2: But then, pressing 's' results in long error message about 'Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID blahblah failed .....error 8007007e'
Deduced it was trying to call an unregistered DLL. This may have something to do with my Zune installation being on a separate partition from my windows installation. Went to the directory I'd put the WP tools in and registered the Microsoft updater's DLL from the command prompt: "regsrv32 wm7update.dll".
Following this, all worked as expected!
wifi issue?
Any one else having wifi connection issues after the update?
I can longer connect to my APs.
Thanks
What about live tiles? I read that live tiles are a mess in 7.8.
