Thanks.
Are these flashable via Streakmod recovery?
Try this link. If you click on the folder (baseband number) for the ROM you are interested in you may find an update.zip package. You can flash that with StreakMod Recovery. I would not suggest doing this to change a ROM, only to re-flash what you already have, if needed.

Are these .zips pre-rooted?
My Streak doesn't seem to like any custom ROMS. I can't get any stability, no matter what I try.
351 didn't flash via Streakmod recovery.
Do I need to flash the Dell recovery for 351 to go back?
The stock roms are not pre-rooted.
Read this: Radimus’s Universal Guide to Flashing a ROM
Best way to revert to stock 351:
Grab MultiRecovery Flasher
Download the 351 .pkg file from the Streak Wiki
Put the 351 .pkg file on the root of your Streak's external sd card and rename to update.pkg
Use MRF to flash the 351 recovery
Use MRF to reboot the phone
Do not let it reboot completely, as the phone starts to reboot hold both volume buttons to go directly into recovery
Select #2 to apply the 351 update.pkg
When it completes the install and the phone reboots you will be back to stock. If you want to root I recommend the superboot.zip method, and don't forget to install busybox and update the superuser bin and app files from the superuser app.
Make sure that your read and understand Radimus’s Universal Guide to Flashing a ROM. I also recommend reading this.
Edit: superuser.zip includes busybox.

just a small question here, what Baseband are you on? cuz what you're seemingly up to requires additional baseband flashing through Fastboot-commands or the MF flashing assistant mentioned earlier within the Development Area of Dell Streak at XDA.
Please do note that you're request could be moved towards another forum, due to the fact that it doesn't relate to any 'real' development, no offense, but it is what it is.

Yeah, I'm sorry. Perhaps the mods could move it to the Questions section.
I thought I posted it there. My mind is fried after spending two days on this.
Coming from stock 351 with stock baseband.
Tried to flash 1.9.1 via streakmod, now I got nothing but looping boot screens.
Tried a couple other custom ROMs too via streakmod, but nothing worked. Nothing.
Trying to flash back to stock. Now, I can get the stock 351 recovery on, but that's it.
The dell recovery sticks at a blank screen.
I'm about ready to chuck it. I've never been so frustrated by any flashing process in my life. HD2, Vibrant, Galaxy, you name it. They were all cake compared to the Streak.

The best way to get the baseband you need on the Streak is to flash the stock rom associated with that baseband. That makes sure that all of the OS parts that aren't replaced by StreakDroid or another custom ROM are in sync.
And yes, this thread should be in Q&A

If I can get into fastboot, then all hope is not lost, correct?
Is there a guide to flashing back to stock 2.2.2 anywhere that you know about?
So far, I had stock recovery, went to Streakmod recovery, then back to stock after my flashing didn't turn out well.
No offense to the chef's but I just can't seem to find a way to make any custom ROM work with my Streak.
I'd just love to be back where I started and any help would be greatly appreciated.
The searches I've done have turned up stock Donut re-flashes. I don't want that.
So rar, recovery for both Streakmod AND 351 hangs on a black screen after selecting "Software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD Card" in the menu
No Dell Logo appears at all. I get a black screen (backlight on, just black). Since I get no logo, I'm not presented with the Recovery Menu
I'm burned out.

After I get the recovery flashed and reboot with both vol buttons held down... select update and I get a blank screen. Nothing.
I think my Streak is a paperweight.
Once in recovery hit the power or camera button ...to pop up the menu
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Just to follow up on my own post.
The problem was caused by having a stray file named update.pkg in my sd card at root level.
This hosed everything, literally, so recovery was not an option under any circumstances, even though it was flashed. I still got a black screen at startup, no matter what... even when pressing the correct button sequence as noted. I just didn't get to the Dell logo where the camera button would get me recovery.
I had to use QDLTool3rd to reinstall EVERYTHING and then I could install Dell recovery and flash.
Now, I'm rooted and restoring from backup.
Thanks XDA!

is it possible to switch to another custom recovery after I already got clockworks?
I tried unrevoked but its stuck in the reboot (I believe its trying to root my aria again)
not sure what youre trying to do.... i believe Clockwork is the only Recovery for rooted phones. if you want to flash a custom ROM, well that is something else altogether. please be specific as to what you want to flash to the phone. include a link to the flash too
I was trying to flash psfreedom recovery rom from here

I believe the method on that website was for unrooted arias without clockworks

To flash a different custom recovery on your Aria, you need to rename the zip file LIBEIMG.ZIP on the SD card and boot in HBOOT (Power on the phone by holding down VOL DOWN and the Power Button). When it boots to the HBOOT screen you should see text stating that it found LIBEIMG.ZIP and is installing it.
awesome. now before I go ahead, is there any clockworkx recovery image I can revert back to?

I'm curious, what recovery are you talking about?
thanks for including the link. the instructions are clear.... Root IS required, Clockwork recovery is recommended, the Freedom Aria flash appears to be a custom ROM.
once the phone is Rooted, boot into Recovery, make a Nandroid backup, and flash downloaded zip file from SD card.
if you need help Rooting, there is all sorts of good methods available on this site. I use the Unrevoked method myself, but it works best on Linux or Mac OS

hmm I think you are looking at the old method which is a custom rom
The new one is a custom recovery which brings me to the question as I dont think you can flash a custom recovery in the clockwork custom recovery.
its possible im looking at the wrong thing, but far as i can tell it states "Recovery Custom ROM" which is totally different from Custom Recovery ROM
From link posted above:
"Update can be installed in recovery mode in Psfreedom settings menu via Update (local) or Update (net) if you have configured your wifi connection. Put the file on your SDCARD and install it.
Download Recovery custom rom : http://alephzain.klutsh.com/aria-recovery.tgz "

I have similar questions. I was trying to update my version of clockwork also using unrevoked again, but couldn't get it to work. I guess my questions are:
1. Is there any benefit in updating to a newer version of clockwork? My current version is 2.0.x.x and I believe the latest one is 2.5.0.4.
2. Will this same method work to do so? Can I rename the latest clockwork .zip file like this and get it updated?
I thought using the flash clockwork option in ROM Manager would do it, but it doesn't. If I reboot from ROM Manager it goes to the newer version, but if I reboot otherwise it goes to my original. The couple times I've used it, there appears to be maybe some different features/options in the newer one and I feel like I might be missing out on something!
What's the difference with this recovery?

These are probably two different things. once you got the recovery rom flashed you can upgrade it in recovery mode (hence its different from original clockwork recovery)
Ok bro, I didn't see much info about it so I'm gonna take your word for it.
@brswattt, far as I can tell this is " basically" used for jailbreaking the ps3.
@armyengineer;
you can use unrEVOked to flash the new recovery. if youre a Windows user, download the unrEVOked tool and run the .exe as Administrator. also make sure there are no conflicting s/w on the PC such as HTC Sync and you have all the drivers installed(HBoot, ADB drivers, etc.)
for more info about the PSFreedom Recovery, check out THIS Thread HERE
unrevoked keeps giving me

This still isn't working for me. Everything appears to go well at the start, then I get:
Waiting for root...(safe to restart if this doesn't work)
At which point the only way I can restart is to pull my battery. After doing so, it reboots and I get:
This was a triumph
It is not, however, any such thing. After another minute I get this:
Internal error: couldn't find misc.
So I've still got my original version of clockwork, 2.0.1.3, despite the fact that ROM Manager is telling me I have 2.5.0.1. I'm obviously missing something here.
BTW, if it matters I'm running CM 6.1.0

Although there is a ClockworkMod 2.5.0.4 version, I don't think it is for the Aria. According to ClockworkMod ROM Manager, 2.5.0.1 is the most current one for the Aria so I am believing what ROM Manager is telling me since it is written by the same the vendor.
I have tried CM 6.1.0
original HTC Aria 2.1 International Rom
and FR001 RC1
all no go. I think it has something to do with the phone already been rooted and has clockworks installed which makes unrevoked unhappy

OK, let's start from the beginning. You asked about installing an alternate recovery (PSFreedom recovery), but apparently it has its own installation procedure that needs to be run on an unrooted Aria.
What you need is to find just the PSFreedom recovery and copy it to your SD called in a file called LIBEIMG.ZIP and that is how you need to install it on a root phone that has ClockworkMod. Perhaps you need to go back to the PSFreedom thread and ask if a LIBEIMG.ZIP can be produced that can be flashed from HBOOT to replace ClockworkMod.
Looks like everything you need is located in the PSFreedom wiki:
http://psfreedom.com/wiki/HTC_Aria
I got a recovery.bin which is suppose to be used with unrevoked.
are you talking about the same one if I just compress it into a zip file?
First off let me just say I wanted to post this in the thread but it said I haven't met some kind of requirement to post yet.
My question is I have read about rooting etc etc but being that this is my first time I didnt want to screw up so because Kaos's leak is pre rooted do I need to still root my phone or will this do it for me?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
No, the ROM is pre-rooted already so you don't need to root once installed.
However, the ROM is installed through Clockwork Recovery, so that means that you need to have ROM Manager and Clockwork Recover Mod installed, which, will require that your phone is rooted..
You can find the threads in this forum that show you how to install all that..
When using ODIN, be sure to use "PDA" and not "Phone".. if you use Phone, you will end up with a paper weight...
Good luck!
You need to root your phone first
will not be able to install
Thanks!!!

How do I root a fascinate when it's on 2.1 update 1?
I believe you can flash CWM via download mode w/ Odin, and then flash the 2.2 leak+kernel with that, so technically you don't need to be rooted to install this, provided you have access to the proper equipment.
SOrry this is a duplication. I asked in another thread but was stepped on by VooDoos and such.
I have a stock rom. It USED to show as DI01. I did figure out how to root it, and just now noticed that it is showing as DH12 (baseband version AND build number), no longer DI01.
So, I need to update it first, before I can install DL30, correct?
I have a DL09.tar.tar file.
I have ODIN3.exe.
I have the DL30-leak.zip.
I have no clue what a CWM is or how to use/install it.
Where can I find the steps to get me to DL30?
Thanks.

Waw. OK. If you are on a plain DH12 with no Clockwork Mod Recovery installed, then you need to do a lot of steps. I'm just going to give you a high level overview and not going into details. You find the details and make sure you understand.
1. Make sure you install USB drivers and that your computer can see your phone when plugged in.
2. Install ODIN in your computer
3. Use ODIN to flash the DL09.tar via PDA! (Very important!)
4. Once you are on DL09. Get the CWMRecovery_DJ05_DL09.tar from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913470 and flash with ODIN via PDA. (never on Phone)
5. Get also the update.zip from that thread and put it in the root of your SD card.
6. Then go to Market and get ROM Manager, then install Clockwork Recovery through ROM Manager.
7. Now to install DL30: (look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=937499)
a. Get the "New" CWM .zip file and put it in your SD card.
b. Put the DL30.zip in your SDCard.
c. Boot into CW Recovery mode from ROM Manager, you should see the Green Clockwork Recovery mode.
d. Apply the new CWM .zip via "choose .zip from SD card"
e. Apply the DL30.zip same way.
f. Wipe data, cache and Devilk cache (in the Advanced menu).
g. Reboot.. and voila !
Lean how to use CWM first (how to navigate, etc).. Good luck!

Please god, Ive been stuck on this **** for 14 hours now. SOLUTION PLEASE!
I've experience rooting/roming over 50 phones, and this is getting irritating!
CWM doesnt flash .pkg's, and I'm coming in way to late in the process to understand this QueTip program or w-e. A simple stock recovery flash tutorial n link would be amazing.
this will happen too when you flash it over 2.2 already but in your case your on 16 ryt?i would suggest google search for the stock 1.6 6601 recovery image and flash it and then flash clockwork and then apply the update.

whats your baseband prior to this update?
I suggest that you use streakdroid recovery to make a nandroid backup before you revert to the stock recovery,
Download stock recovery from here. Make sure it is on your computer in the same folder as fastboot.exe
Excerpted from this streakdroid guide:
Shut down your Streak, then hold down the camera button (all the way) as you turn it back on.
The screen should turn white; press ‘Fastboot’ in the top right hand of the screen.
Plug in the USB cable – the Streak should now display ‘FASTBOOT_MODE’ at the bottom of the screen.
Open a command window and use ‘cd’ to change to the same directory as qdltool.
Run: fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img
Run: fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
Either rename the file you downloaded to recovery.img or change the name of the file to flash in step 5 to match the file downloaded.
Boot into recovery and you should now have a stock recovery.
You can boot your phone and try downloading and installing the OTA upgrade or you can place the upgrade file on your SD card and name it upgrade.pkg and try to install it using the stock recovery.
I suggest that you use streakdroid recovery to make a nandroid backup before you revert to the stock recovery.
Make sure that any ROM you try to install on your phone is appropriate for your hardware and carrier.
I personally was on the 318 build of 2.2... Downgraded to O2 2.1, then to O2 1.6, then to AT&T 1.6 with the BB downgrade... then upgrade to AT&T 340 2.2, its not that hard... get to stock AT&T 1.6 and leave the 340 "update.pkg" in the root of the SD card.
Instructions to get to AT&T 1.6 here > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8558692&postcount=4

If you are not on at&t's 1.6 than this is your only option. Also your only way to go back to the 1.6 is using essentially same steps as above. So just make sure fastboot is set up and follow the steps listed above. It will work regardless of os you are running now. I just did it and I was on dj steve's 1.8. On a side note how is the upgrade working for you?(those that installed it)

Yeah my installation came up with an error and it would not boot after it was applied so previously posted stock recovery does not work. So what you have to do is follow the steps to go back to stock at&t 1.6 rom. Here are the directions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8558692&postcount=4
I am in a process of doing this now so i'll keep you posted. However, once you do the downgrade from the link above you should be able to just install latest at&t rom without any problems. Hope that helps.

I rooted the device using the method of returning back to 3.1 and flashing the unstable rom then installing iconia root then acer recovery to install CWM. I've read through many forums in the development area but since I have not posted enough times I can not ask a question there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Basically, when you run a full package stock rom, it should put your tablet back into stock condition. This will remove the custom recovery, just like it did when you downgraded.
You can find a list of the stock roms based on region at this link.

I used Acer Recovery Installer from the market to install clock work mod. If I am unrooting and returning to sock, should I use the option to install "Stock USA 1.41.07_COM_GEN1 recovery" before flashing and then use the power/up button combination? Is it Ok to use Clock Work Mod to install one of the stock roms from the SD card or will Clock Work Mod cause a mess?

Vache has simple instructions on that page. As you read, it says to extract the update.zip file, put it to sd, then hold vol- and pwr. It should flash the rom, That's for the update zip..
However, I would use one of the full set roms.
When the stock rom runs, it should overwrite the CWM recovery, and re-instate the factory bootloader.
Here are the instructions direct from Vache's page for full rom.
"Here are some full packages, updates and EUU firmware from Acer OTA server and from some magical sources.
Full package and updates should be flash via the recovery.
EUU version are working in APX mode with nvflash. (you can enter in APX mode by booting the tablet with Reset / Power pressed)"
Now, what other recovery do you have to flash a full rom?
NOTE: I have not and have no plans to revert to stock. So I've never done this. You may want to post a question also in that thread to see if you can get any extra info.

You could also use the Downgrade tool with the original downgrade images. The original downgrade tool will put back factory recovery and factory stock. This would be everything you need to be totally stock. Once you get to stock, then you can just apply the OTA's if that's what you want. Or are you trying to get to stock and then root?

Yeah, I keep forgetting about your tool.
I think they just want to get back to a stock condition without cwm and root.
You may want to post a link to the tool.
Finally got it. Used the Acer recovery tool to flash Acer stock recovery image and then extracted the update zip from the full package and put it on my SD card (made sure it was the only zip on the card) then redooted into recovery by holding down the volume up key and the power button. Update flashed and all is back to stock. Reasons for doing this were that I could not find a ROM that seemed like it was a real improvement over stock. My favorite would have been Thor's ROM mostly due to the ice cream sandwich tweaks and the ability to clear the recent apps drawer. May go back to root but wanted to know how to get back if necessary. Thanks for all the help.

Glad it worked for you!
Vache should be a touch more clear on "which" recovery to use for the full package
Although it seems people used both CWM and Acer Recovery. (he just states "recovery")
Glad you cleared that up

@sydeu, you probably want to run Acer_A501_4.037.01_EMEA_TMPL. Note this is for the 501 so not sure if you are looking for a 501 or 500 stock rom.
I run it on my 501, and it has svetski lauguage support.
I think you can use any of the EMEA roms. You can unpack or decrypt the roms before flashing, and check the ldb files (system\usr\xt9\databases\ldb\) You should see an ldb that usually starts or contains "Sv". I think these are related to the keyboard, but it will have system support for the language.
Not all roms and updates are listed there, those are just the ones people were able to find. So get the one that's closest to your needs.
Hi,
atm, I have an A501 with CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.x(thor2002ro rev1.7) and Android 3.2 (EMEA CUS7 - Germany).
My Tab tells me that there is an update, which I downloaded and tried to install. However, after a few seconds an Android with a red exclamation mark appears and the installation of the updates aborts.
So, I want to remove CWM Recovery and root and return to a stock rom. However, that seems impossible. I downloaded the Acer Recovery Installer App but this one offers me a USA A500 stock rom - but I need an A501 rom because of 3g.
When I try to install this one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1234039) I decrypted before, CWM tells me
"Installating update...
Installation aborted"
So, this does not work either.
I am really desperate because I have to revert to a stock rom...
Can someone please, please, please help me out?

The update has overwritten yr custom recovery with the Acer stock recovery. It also checks yr system files if it ain't completely stock it will abort. being rooted can also affect the update.

Did u install cwm again from Acer recovery installer b4 flashing. the rom?
I'm unfamiliar with the 501 and what stock Roms are available for it
Search xda for vache full ota update packages and see if there's one that thread

Why not give HC the flick and upgrade to a custom ICS rom?

Thank you a lot for your answer!
Yes, I did install cwm again from acer recovery installer, but that did not change anything.
Unfortunately none of the roms offered on xda work, they all abort in cwm and I don't know why.
I would prefer to go back to a stock rom with stock recovery because I want to give the tab to someone else.

Yeah, you may have difficulties flashing full packages via CWM. Especially if you didn't decrypt the rom first.
I've got a few 501 roms you can try. All HC 3.2.
One of them, is an ATT full package update which will probably work for you. Just pull the update.zip out of it. Put it on your Ext SD card, and boot holding PWR and Vol+. This will force it to install update.zip from the SD card.
Any rom you use, you have to decrypt it first. Some try renaming the rom to update.zip, and some have success using this method.
Like I say, it's an AT&T rom, but is probably really a ComGen 1. So it should have decent language support.
If you're interested, I can throw them up on a server tomorrow.
But I tell you this first, before you go messing around with these things. GET YOUR UID Number first, and write it down. You can get instructions on UID in the Development Forum, 1st page usually. It's easy.

No probs!!
U must use a "update.zip" , decrypted first as Moscow said, and booting into recovery via button combo may help too,
also remember to remove the zip file off the ext. sdcard when you are done!!
....good luck
