Only the default headphones that came with my vibrant nearly a year ago(Now in the garbage because the cord just somehow ripped upward from the jack head) actually worked in my audio jack. I have these good skullcandy headphones that I use with my ipod touch that work without a problem and they will not get the audio from my call in them. Neither will the audio from videos on youtube or any other flash website come through them, but that was when the connection was working properly...
It seems like when my phone has a 3G signal, it's not getting 3G speeds anymore. I can't find the option to switch from 2G only to 3G on my phone because maybe it just needs to be switched on and off to work again. Is it possible T-mobile might have flagged my phone and slowed down my connection speed, because it takes at least 5 mins to download a 711kB app from the market now. What's going on??
OK first questions. Are you Rooted and on a custom ROM or are you on stock 2.1 (or 2.2)

Bluetooth works on my Vodafone HTC Magic, but it's a fiddly pain in the arse. Process seems to go something like:
1. Turn on headset
2. Headset connects for phone audio only (music still plays on phone speakers)
3. Go into bluetooth settings, disconnect headset (if it isn't stuck, in which case exit and re-enter settings, or if that doesn't work boot the phone).
4. Re-connect headset (from within settings), which now connects for phone and media audio.
5. Play music, which then often skips for half a second or so about once a minute. If it skips constantly, jump to the next track which usually solves that.
The skipping doesn't always happen, but it does seem to happen regardless of whether I'm at home, work or in a tube station, and whether I've got the phone in my pocket or held up near the headset.
The quality's not bad apart from the skipping, and usually it doesn't skip enough to be truly annoying, but it's still a little disappointing from a £350 phone and a £90 headset.
So, I had the exact same problem, and I may still have it. I have now rooted my phone and applied the sapphire 6.0 update. I'm listening to music right now and it's working fine now with no skips. Having said that, however, I found that sometimes it would work flawlessly before as well.
Anyone have another A2DP device that acts similarly? Or is the problem with the magic.
When I connect eh MM200 to my macbook-pro it sometimes refuses to respond to the button pushing and such. Not sure what exactly that indicates.

I've also rooted and updated to 6.0, still got the problem. I think to be honest it actually pauses rather than skips (I caught it pausing for ~2sec once, it's harder to tell with the shorter "skips")... it still does it when there are few other processes running, so I'm not sure what is bothering it. TBH I've not really tried it playing music without the headset to see if it happens anyway!
I've beemn messing with my phone (Magic) all day try to get the bluetooth to connect to my bluetooth usb dongle or my old phone, both of which work fine together and with everything else,
My PC can find the HTC Magic when i put it in to visable mode, but other then that it wont show up and service's for me to use with the phone,
My old phone (Samsung F700v) cant find the HTC Magic at all, altho i did manage to find the F700 on my Magic and pair them that way but still my F700 wont find it anywhere (with visable mode on,)
Am i missing somthing or does the Magic/Sapphire have a very bad Bluetooth flaw,
on a side note i've only had the phone less then a week and its not rooted, is it worth it? and is there a noob guide to the basic's eg. which version does what and what all the cons are?
Thanks
Edit:
guess i just found my answer...

Android does not support any bluetooth services other then "hands free".
This means that you can only use BT headsets.
Android (either G1 or Magic) phones cannot natively send files over BT, cannot use BT a modem, etc...
There is not third party tool so far to send files via BT to other devices.

unfortunately when i connect bluetooth to my car radio the music skips about every 15 sec. very annoying. Anyone else having the problem.
I have an iphone 3gs that doesnt skip and works great. I love the Evo but bugs are continually showing up.
Its your internet. Try updating your prl.
i did update the prl before i tried it.
still does it.
I have a bluetooth reciever for my AVR and I noticed some skipping as well. Not as frequent as you are saying but if I moved more than 10' away it would be rather bad. The Bluetooth range seems to be poor. In a car I can't imagine you having a problem. I have heard of some issues with factory bluetooth.
I had same problem till I decided to turn off my wifi.. and it started working fine.. it just doesn't have to do with Pandora, its will any Music that you stream over Bluetooth..
Just turn off your wifi and it will work fine.
Thanks
Or just place your phone somewhere else in your car. Bluetooth has very lousy range (isn't it like 10 feet in perfect conditions?), and as such moving it a foot or two somewhere else could make a world of difference.
Its definitely not the internet. I could be at home in wifi with phenominal internet it even laying it off of my SD card. If im in a vehicle or on a bus, its pretty solid and works really well. I walk out the bus and walk around either to m next bus or to work and it fails to play for more than 4 seconds without skipping. And its not like a short, nuisance of a skip. It often stays skipped for up to 3 seconds at a time. Completely unusable. Happens however i connect my phone to any a2dp device. Tried tweaking the /etc/Bluetooth/audio.conference file as suggested in a couple nexus one/s sites, but unfortunately seems to be specific to those phones. This is making me hate this phone. Every other phone I've had in the past two years does this just fine. Whyis it having such a hard time with such a simple task that others have done perfectly? Even other Roms work better but i like also better than sense anyday. Maybe its a kernel issue?. I really want this fixed. But it seems like no one is even trying to work towards a solution. Not on the surface anyway.
Did you try turning off your wifi and any other unneeded services? The only time I have had skipping over bluetooth is when I have my wifi on as well, other than that it streams smoothly through my car stero and computer over bluetooth.

This.
If that doesn't help, then if possible, you should use an aux in cable to prove it's only a bluetooth issue. If it still skips, I'd try a new rom and/or kernel. A2DP performance seems much improved in CM7 compared to Sense roms.. or at least it seems better to me.
I've had the same skipping problem with my bluetooth earphones and evo. The only slight solution that I've had was holding the phone in direct line of site with the bluetooth earphones. When I do that, it doesn't skip as much.
Streaming bluetooth audio to car stereo
Thanks Anku13, your fix works. Just installed a Clarion CZ501 bluetooth receiver in my car, experienced skipping audio every 15 - 30 seconds once my Leo connected/streaming. Killing WiFi was the trick. Love not having an AUX cable lying around in the cabin.
I have a Motorola S9 bluetooth headset which worked perfectly with my blackberry 8900. I'd have the phone in my pocket, go to the gym and listen to music, it would work great.
But on my Nexus one, ever since I got it in Febuary, any rom i've ever been on (enomther, cyanogen), the audio skips repeatedly if I don't keep the phone like half a foot away from the headset (which is impossible unless I strap the phone to my upper back or something). It will cut out for 1-10 seconds and then return for a second and then go out again, and then be steady for 20 seconds and then do it again, it's very random but VERY frequent..I've never been able to go a full minute without skipping.
I've also had to have my nexus one replaced at one point, and this was a problem on both models, so I don't think I just got 2 defective nexus ones in a row.
Also I have paired the S9 bluetooth with my PS3 and again with the blackberry and it works perfectly with both.
Is there any reason or does the nexus one just have a weak bluetooth reciever?
I'm using the Sony Ericsson MW600 bluetooth headset and I found that the bluetooth range is better than my laptop. Audio doesn't skip even if I am ~10 m way.
I have some Sony ones (the neckband BT ones, not sure of the model) and they only seem to skip if there is heavy EM interference, or if the battery is low and there is something in the way. This was the same with a Nokia E71 (which IMHO had the best radios on a handset I've used), so I think its a headset problem rather than a phone problem. But saying that, I primarly use this combo with the phone in the chest pocket of an ACU jacket, so it only has about 30cm to travel.
I use my Nexus with the S9, and it works great. I often leave the phone playing on my desk at work, while I got to the printer etc. No probs, until about 40 foot away...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Compared to my old iPhone i found it was a little weaker too.
I think you have a second defective unit. My first n1 had the same problem. Since the n1 share the wifi and bluetooth on the same chip, you should notice also some weakness in the wireless signal as well. At least that is what I found.
I would never get full bars on my wireless even standing next to the router. The bluetooth was worse, I couldn't keep my phone more than an arms length to get the bluetooth working.
I returned it and got a replacement
Hope this helps
Well I don't have problems with weak wifi signal. I can be pretty far from the wifi and get great signal. Also for voice calls the plantronics explorer Bluetooth headset I use works great. Its just the a2dp streaming on the s9 that are giving me problems.
Have you tried turning Wi-fi off while using the BT for streaming?
Blue tooth dropouts- sometimes fix
On my N1, both a Jawbone Icon and a Samsung headset will have fluctuating media sound frequently. The sound will vary in volume or skipping up to once a second, giving a very unpleasing experience. The distance to the phone can be one foot or 15 feet with the same results.
I finally correlated this to either turning on or connecting the headset after the media had begun playing, or coming back into range while the media was already playing.
I found that I could get clear sound by exiting the media, then restarting the media while the headset was already connected.
I have trouble also with going out of range, then returning into range, but the media connection not restoring, just the phone connection.
Solutions I found for this on the web were:
- set master=true in /system/etc/bluetooth/audio.conf (worked for me)
possibly also:
- turn off wifi
- carry bluetooth device and nexus on same side of your body
- use bluetooth only for media (not phone)
So I've asked this before back when I had the Moment, but why can't I stream to BT on a non-A2DP device? No before answering the obvious, I experience the same things on the Epic that I did on the Moment where if I have music streaming, playing from the SD, etc and a call comes in, the music will automatically pause and I can take the call. Once I end the call, I the music will play for about a second or more through my BlueAnt Z9i BT and then it will revert back to the stock speaker on the phone itself. So what is preventing someone from taking advantage of that lapse of time where the music is coming through the BT and make it happen all the time? I'm sure there are COUNTLESS people who could use and benefit from this instead of buying a dedicated BT, I might be able to stream wireless from my phone to my car stereo (BT calls capable, but I cannot stream directly to it as an input), to my PC (which has BT), etc. Just throwing it out there since I've always wondered why we couldn't capitalize on the second or two and make it a normal operation. I tried to break this post into a couple of paragraphs, but the site wouldn't let me. Anyways, thanks all.
I would also be interested in this. I was able to do this with windows mobile so there's no doubt that it can be done on a non a2dp headset.
The fact that it happens, even for a second, tells me that something is delayed that is telling it to stop. Telling it to start might be in a whole different ballpark, but point is, it should be possible. I've got 3 different BT's floating around my house...one in the house sitting around on my desk, one that I always take with me in the car (gotta be safe, ya know ) and another I keep in the garage incase I get a call while I'm working on something and/or out mowing the lawn. I'd love to even be able to be following around the GF (shoot me now) while she's shopping...imaging how much better it would be to be able to play music or hear my games without people around me knowing the wiser. I don't want to have to buy and then wear a stereo headset.
App in the Marketplace called "BTSwitch" works on my devices. try out the lite version first theres a little audio flaw with the stereo music being converted to mono (i'm guessing) but then i'm an audiophile.

The only bt switch i see on the market is a widget to turn bluetooth on and off. Could you have been referring to a different app?

I'm trying this as well at the very moment. I only see one app with that name and I don't see anything referencing a lite version. My BT doesn't even like to connect while this app is installed, causing the normal BT settings to not even allow it to pair up. I had to remove the app and reboot the phone to get the BT to connect through the normal Menu > Wireless & Networks > Bluetooth Settings before it would connect again.
I know this may not be the best timing to bump this w/ all the Froyo excitement, but I'm sure myself and others would like to see this happen. I've still got my fingers crossed that maybe someone on the sidelines could help.
It's called Super Mono BT.....They have a Froyo addition as well as a "free" edition...Free addition is just a 5 day trial, after that it's 2.99. It works fine but it's not in stereo so it sounds like AM radio, LMAO. Worth a shot though just to try.
I was able to install the app, but it doesn't work for me...yet. The problem is that is requires Cynanogen Mod and I don't have that since I've (as of yesterday) flashed my phone back to stock DI18 while waiting for Sprint to send me an OTA notice to update to Froyo. I was WAY too buddy via the download available here, so I guess I wait to use this BT app. Thanks for the reply though, I look forward to being able to use it.
I have my creative WP300 stereo connected via Bluetooth to stream music. it appears that the bluetooth connection kept dropping every a few hours of use. I had no problem with the same headset on my Sprint GS2 (Epic 4G touch). Just curious if there is anyone experiencing similar thing? Do I have a defected device? Thanks,
I have my GS4 paired to my Kenwood DNX9960 headunit in my truck and every time I get in my truck, only the "Use for phone audio" is checked, not the "Use for media audio". I have to open up BT settings on the phone and check the media check box and it connects right away. This is so annoying, it should just connect both profiles automatically.
the media portion of auto connect is determined by the music app.... i use power amp and have no issues with it auto connecting, but with the stock player no luck.

I too have upgraded from the GS2 and I have experienced drops with Both of my New Devices (2 S4's). I have a Dual XML8150 Head Unit in my vehicle. Neither of them Auto Connect. Sometimes the music will play for the duration of my travels, However most of the time it drops the audio in a few minutes (less than a song few minutes), however the 2 devices are still communicating (meaning I can play/pause basically). I do not use it for phone calls so I can't report how it works on those. A few times yesterday it would happen almost immediately, and one headset wouldn't even play audio from the onset (although I could still communicate (Play/Pause). Once I would disconnect from Bluetooth, the audio was confirmed playing on the headset. I have not tested this problem out with my Plantronics BB903+ headphones, but will today.
So a final note to wrap it up. I'm at my 14 days. Even though Im only rooted with TWRP, I'm doing the full reset on both devices and i'm going to test it out today flat stock. In addition to the Bluetooth antenna/radio, None of the Antennas (surprise, surprise Samsung) on this phone seem to be very strong. It seems that one likes to connect to 4g more than the other. Same place, same tower ones stuck on 3g and one on 4g (according to RF signal tracker). Even a data off/on doesn't seem to force it over and im sick of seeing the "can not establish a data connection" popping up in the middle of doing anything. I can't forget to mention the Dropped calls, probably more in 2 weeks than in several years. I had an S2 since the first month it was out (Typical Lame GPS, and crazy menu key was about it) I briefly used an S3 (Asurion Claim), and the troubles I had with my S2 were gone with the wind, so I figured the S4's have to be even better....Well, any troubles today, and I'll let you know what happens at the sprint store tonight.
