"FOR USERS BY USERS"
Disclaimer:
-OP reviews are MY opinion, read through the thread to get more opinions from other people. If you still didn't get your answer, ask and get it! Thank you and good luck finding your perfect ROM.
To reduce the spam on this forum, I decided to make this thread where I and others who are willing to help are going to do little ROM reviews to show you how good is the ROM, I know ROM picking is "to each his own" thing, but, I (and others) am/are here to do an objective review of the ROM with stock settings.
I'll start with CM. I'll be dividing the review in couple of categories (speed, stability etc.)
N.B.:
AOSP - Vanilla (stock) Android ROM
Sense ROM - ROM with HTC Sense user interface and apps
Hybrid - Sense core but modified and removed some/all HTC apps
JIT - "Just in time" compiler - makes things faster
Overclocking - Changing CPU speeds
Kernel - "Bridge" between hardware and software
CyanogenMod 7.0.3 Stable:
-Android 2.3.3
-AOSP (no Sense)
-Fast and stable (JIT enabled)
-Overclockable to 768 MHz by defalut (no need for flashing new kernels, the included one is the BEST one for Wildfire in general)
-Customizable (Themes etc.)
-Personal opinion: It's best AOSP Gingerbread ROM for Wildfire for me. I've tried most of them, this one is simply the best.
-Battery life: 5/5 (1 day of heavy use ~20% battery left)
-Overall: 9/10
CyanogenMod 6 Latest Stable:
-Android 2.2.1
-AOSP (no Sense)
-Fast and stable (JIT enabled)
-Overclockable to 768 MHz by default
-Customizable
-Personal opinion: It's very good, but why being on Froyo when you're able to run Gingerbread, so CM7 > CM6.
-Battery life: 4/5 (1 day of heavy use ~10% battery left)
-Overall: 8/10
WildPuzzle (new):
-Android 2.2.1
-Sense ROM
-Fast and stable (JIT is not enabled due to instability in Sense ROMs in general)
-Few modifications to make it better and faster + modded framework
-Overclokable by flashing O/C kernel
-Customizable with flashable themes (My theme here - should work on all Sense ROMs)
-Personal opinion: Awesome and best Sense ROM so far, very stable, almost no bugs (I didn't find any), full Sense experience + live wallpapers in Sense, simply - awesome!
-Battery life: 4/5 (1 day of heavy use ~10-15% battery left)
-Overall: 8.5/10
JokerDroid 4.2:
-Android 2.2.1
-Sense ROM
-Fast and stable + few modifications (JIT is not enabled due to instability in Sense ROMs in general)
-Overclockable by default
-Customizable by flashable themes
-Modded Sense UI and framework - cool for me, I don't know about you tho
-Personal opinion: Good ROM, dev has confirmed he is working on Sense 2.1 Gingerbread ROM, I can't wait for it, but this ROM is also good, and has few different editions, check the original thread for more information, good Sense experience, just different look, try it if you're looking for some innovation but don't want to leave Sense!
-Battery life: 4/5 (Battery life is bad in the beginning, after few charge/discharge cycles is good as Wildpuzzles)
-Overall: 8/10
OpenFire (original) & WildMix (improved & themed original):
-Android 2.2.1
-AOSP (no Sense)
-Fast and stable (JIT enabled)
-Overclockable by default
-Personal opinion: OpenFire is good, but WildMix ROM based on OpenFire is better. Flash this if you want stock Android experience, which is more stock than CyanogenMod - don't forget WildMix is themed, so not that stock, but better.
-Battery life: 5/5 (Nice battery life even if overclocked!)
-Overall: 7.5/10
Note: For links to threads of ROMs and other very helpful things go on this thread by 3xeno. Thank you 3xeno!

Yeah no problem
I mean, if jokerdroid, Wildpuzzle and Cyanogen got 5/5.. Then why almost every wildfire user goes for cyanogen ?!
And I think that even Cyanogen shouldn't get 5/5... Some people don't like it and prefer the stock rom (even if they are few but...) + It got some bugs like bluetooth sending and receiving and others....
5/5 should mean that they are bug free, and almost 99% of users prefer it..
My advice to you is to extend the rating scale, maybe make it on "10"...
And re-rate the roms again.... If I were you, I would never give any rom 10/10 unless it's a rom from heaven, u know what I mean ?!
I hope I helped

Cyan 7 : 8.5
Cyan 6 : 8.0
Wildpuzzle : 8.5 (Only If u like sense, If u don't then don't mind this rom)
JokerDroid 4.2 : 8.0 (Only If u like sense, If u don't then don't mind this rom)
As for OpenFire and WildMix, I didn't try them personnaly, but I've heard my friends talking about it, and I think i wasn't pleased about what I heard ...
So maybe I give OpenFire : 7.0, and WildMix : 7.5... Not more.... Coz I still prefer Cyan 6 on them

sense rom has htc goodies, like different user interface, htc apps and many other applications that make android more intuitive for new users, no sense roms are vanilla android - means no modifications done to it, and its stock like it just got from googles workshop
ok in cars,
stock - no sense (original)

Well, If u prefer speed more than htc sense, then go for CM7...
But If u prefer the fancy htc sense apps (like the camera - the gallery - the music player - the widgets) then get stock 2.2.1 sense ...
Note: Even if u go for Cm7 u will still have these apps, but not made by htc, the ones made by google, which i personnaly hate...
My advice to u: Stick to 2.2.1 stock rom... It's the best... When buying an HTC phone, u paid for these sense apps, so why remove them ?!

Sorry, I don't agree with it at all. Infact, it is with stock android you can modify it to your liking till you are done. Sense restricts you to what it provides, and is hardly what you call 'customizable'. (I am not saying either is good or bad. Nor am I comparing their functionality. All I am saying that as far as 'customization' goes, No-Sense ROMs are way ahead)
3xeno, I was thinking about overclocking my wildfire...
I am on stock froyo 2.2 rooted, so i am gonna have to download kernel and so on...
So I wanted to ask, if i need to send my phone to repairs, will running
"RUU.exe" will return it back to the old kernel ?!
+ Is it safe to overclock, and on which range ?! (keep on mind that maybe I won't replace my wildfire for about 4 years, so I don't want to really make my proccessor life short) And thx
Edit: Sorry smokzye for using ur thread to ask 3xeno somthing

you can flash other kernel from recovery and make it overclockable, i prefer arcos nfinity mc4 kernel, and only apk you need to install is setcpu, ill send it to you, or even easyer, use search and simply search for setCPU, download, install and oc baby! (after u flashed overclock kernel of course)
if you install ruu the old kernel will be back, but if you got s off by alpharev x, you cant repair it for warranty unless you get the s on back and the original hboot.
if youre gonna have that wildfire for 4 years id say, you can overclock but not to the highest setting and dont stress the cpu much. yeah..
and, np

I have tried all Roms from Cm 7.0.2 to Nightly 145, Rempuzzle, DK Custom Froyo, JokerDroid, Wildpuzzle and so far JokerDroid 4.2 is my favorite.
Why?
-Its by far the best
-Hast the best kernel so no need to flash another one
-Its fast and responsive
-Has great battery life ( 3 days+ with quite a lot of WIFI+downloading+gaming+lots of talking )
-The HTC widgets don't stay at ,,Loading" each time you exit an app. When you exit an app and go to your screens the text inside the widgets ( like news, live feed, weather, messeges, mails ) are there in the widgets, no need to be refreshed by the system ( except when exiting heavy applications like games that you run for 30 minutes+ )
- I hate the theme though...but changed it using Smozkfield 1.1 theme and replacing Framework-res.apk and htc.resources.apk with the default ones from HTC Sense.

I tried CM7, Ruymanca's Hell Fire, Wildpuzzle,and finally Jokerdroid 4.2
So far I liked the Jokersdroid best. It is fast, with A2SD, trackpad wake and the sense goodies. Especially, I realized I cant do without HTC dialer.
For the theme issue in jokersdroid, i simply installed a theme from wildpuzzle zip files. And its all nice now.

Hi !
As you know, there are many ROMs for the WF, and I'm a bit lost in front of all those choices.
So, according to you, what is the better (faster and smoother) custom ROM based on Sense ?
Thanks a lot !
Easyest way is just to try them for a few days n c which is better

if you are just looking for a custom SENSE rom ... WildPuzzle is the best ... ) ... its stable ... by d way you still gotta overclock ... it smoothes everything ...
it all depends what you want, each rom has little things others don't, and thats part of the deal, finding which rom suits you best, i use wildpuzzle which i love and i've had a quick play with daddy spuds rom which is impressive too.
horses for courses, as the old saying goes
and remember nandroid backups are your friends
I have used leaf r3 and its prettty good. But wildpuzzle is definitely recommended.

Well as you can see from my sig i use SUnAaBh rom its very fast and smooth whether you overclock or not its nice and simple and it has an improved battery life is you ask me especially over the stock roms
But it you want a slightly more customizable rom wildpuzzle is good but i would go for v0.7 over v0.8 unless you want a transparent lock screen.
SUnAaBh link im my sig it includes the latest radio in it aswell which is a good thing
Rate from 1-10 in terms of:
Looks:
Speed:
Battery Life:
Stabability:
Any rom developed by aamikam
Looks:10(sense is so pretty)
Speed:7(Sense is a bit slower than aosp)
Battery:10(Sense gives me the best battery life i have ever seen on my phone)
Stability:10(everything always works)
Sent from my PG06100 using Tapatalk
Currently my favorite ROM is MIUI. It's so much different than any other ROM and there's a ton of customization.
Looks: easy 10
Speed: not the fastest ROM but quick. I'll give it an 8
Battery life: easy 10. I get the better battery life than any other ROM
Stability: 8 - depends on the build but all in all pretty stable.
Sent from Gingerbread Speedy 4G
man its all really personal opinion but ill give it my best review seeing as how ive used all of the ones that are available for the shift "i think"
AOSP ROMS: CM7 (Cyanogenmod 7) and Shift Deck
AOSP DEFINITION:Stock Pure Google Android. doesnt get much simpler than that.
Shift Deck: This is about as AOSP as it gets its pure stock android (think of a nexus S) Shift Deck like most AOSP roms gives great battery life. I find making it a little over a day not very hard with quite some usuage. The speed is very slick too.
My rating
Looks:7 (an opinated question)
Speed:10
Battery Life:9
Stability: 10
Features: 6
CM7: This is AOSP with a lot of different features inside of it that are hard to go through all of them. but basically if you like the look of AOSP but want more customization options and features CM7 is a great way to go
My Rating
Looks: 7
Speed 10
Battery Life:9
Stability: 8.5(only because its still in nightly builds and there are a few problems)
Features:8 (more than stock AOSP and some good ones at that)
Evervolv: Think of Shift Deck with a different stock launcher. Its codenamed Creo and has a couple different features. for that purpose to me it recieves the same score as Shift Deck
SENSE ROMS
Sense in general is what the shift comes stock with. An overlay on android made by HTC to bring further customization for the purpose of length i will not include Stock Sense 2.1
Sense 3.0 Kingdom Port: This is a full Sense 3.0 port for the evo shift its elegant and sexy and jam packed with customization. Now HTC did state Sense 3.0 would only work on NEWER devices and it does show in the port. on a stock kernel it does get really laggy with memory issues.
MY rating
Looks:9.5( i dont give looks a 10 because it sort of opiniated)
Speed:5 (it works but to me unusable)
Battery Life:7 (the port defeinently takes a toll on the battery
Features: 10
Stability: 4
MikShift-G Sense 2.1+3.0: This is based off Sense 2.1 with 3.0 features added into it. Personally this is one of my favorites. Its got a great mix of 3.0 features so you dont feel left behind and out of date and with aamikams optimizing it runs beautifully. I dont notice lag per say but there are a couple times things take just a tad bit longer to load. Added Sense 3.0 Features Include -Lockscreen,Weather,Messaging, Task Manager, and probably a couple others im forgetting
Looks:9.1 (lol)
Speed.9.5
Battery Life:9 (As good or sometimes better than AOSP)
Features:9
Stability: 9.9 (even the beta was fantastic only one KB light problem that is still in the official build)
SupremeSense 2.1+3.0. So you like the sound of Mikshift-G but you miss that 3D rosie and 3D widgets from Sense 3.0? Well here you go. SupremeSense is based off Mikshift-G but with a couple nice features Including 3D Sense 3.0 Launcher, and Darktremmors A2SD. This is a little bit more memory heavy so there is some lag but definently still usable
Looks:9.4
Speed:8.5
Battery Life:9 (same as Mikshift-G)
Features: 9.2
Stability:9
MIUI ROMS
We have a few miui ports and there basically the same just newer versions so im just going to review miui in general
MIUI (I think its said like "MY-U-I") is very umm "different" or in alot of ways its not different. if you have ever used or seen an iphone then you have a sense (no pun intended) of what the MIUI launcher is like. Its based of of AOSP but it doesnt look like it. It has an iOS type feel to it. It has no app drawer all your icons are on the homescreens and you scroll left and right through them. you have the ability to make folders like in iOS which seems to be an essential part in MIUI. You have a lockscreen sort of like Sense 1.0-2.1.
Its got a different way of handling text messages. and menu systems and the whole UI of the phone has its own unique feel that you have to try out to completley understand. MIUI currently does not support 4G so if you use it your SOL. but it is definently worth checking out
It does run across MMS issues sometimes too. Miui has its own personal theme manager that will theme anything from sounds to design asthetics to bootanimations, and lockscreens including options for sense 3.0 type lockscreens. its a very complete theming process. Think of it as HTC Hub on Steroids.
My Rating:
Look:8.9(once again opiniated question)
Speed:9 (generally very slick)
Battery Life:9 (AOSP like Battery Life)
Stability: 7.5 (this is miui's lowest point)
Features. 9 (its very unique in features)

Its an outstanding ROM. but if you just dont like the design asthetics of sense then no you wont like it.
but all the problems people say they have with sense is eliminated in the rom
I am running Supreme Sense which is based of Mikshift-G (as i said in the review lol) and at 72% battery life i am going 8 hours and 8 min (reading it off my phone as i type) with wifi going the whole time, gps, lots of texts a few voice calls and LOTS of web browsing.
The lag people expierence with sense is compltley gone it runs great and smooth just as fast as AOSP. Some apps may take half a second more to load tho
and you gotta love the sense 3 lockscreen haha
Thanks notsointeresting, I just got this phone and have been wondering what way I wanted to go on it in terms of what rom to put on it. I am coming from a Samsung Transform so almost any rom is going to run faster and smoother then the best rom and kernal package could give me on the transform. Based on your review I am trying the MikShift-G Sense 1.4 so far so good really enjoy the sense feel and look. Thinking of trying Supreme Sense but would like to find a video of it before going through the trouble of downloading it and setting it up.
Not to hijack the thread but could you tell me even in a PM your review of kernals available?

Believe me I would love to haha. But unless your on an AOSP rom your SOL (sadly out of luck haha) because HTC has not provided the source code for the evo shift yet so developers can not make kernels. It's a serious GPL violation an people (including me) have been sending tweets and posting on twitters face book wall saying something like ( @HTC We still need you to release the source code for the EVO Shift 4G #GPL #Android) they will have to release it soon though and I'm thinking when that time comes I might make a dedicated thread for kernel and roms and put my reviews and information on them and let people leave reviews or what not. But that would depend on if people where interested.
Also check out my EpicBlue theme for Milshift-G it finally supports 1.4

And yes your right I did leave out theme manager for miui it does have a very simple way to download and use complete themes to change everything from sounds to looks to bootanimations.

I have not flashed miui since 1.7.5 I think? And then went to mikshift-G and haven't tried anything since then but looks like I need to take a look at miui again
I would highly suggest it, it was 7.something where a lot of cool changes were made. I believe the sense lockscreen its a exact port or at least it looks EXACTLY the same as the mikshift [email protected]

MIUI is great and all I really like it. But until MIUI starts supporting 4G I can't use it for more than a couple hours to figure out all the features and what ill miss when I flash back.
I live in texas so its the one of the most heavily covered 4G areas (if not THE most heavily covered area) in the U.S so I need it
Edit: BTW OP I hope were not hijacking your thread here. We are talking about ROM's and our opinions so it shouldn't but were not exactly reviewing them so please let us know lol

Yeah, i hear ya on that... Without 4G I wouldn't have a cell phone... Where I live my 4G is sometimes worse than 3G speeds... My 3G is usually at 1x speeds and my talk varies... For all that I've tried Evervolv and it messed up my phone. Hated it. I currently use the Cyanogen Nightlies. They for me offer the best of everything. Speed, customization, battery life... With the theme chooser they can look basically how ever you want. With beautiful widgets you can get some sense like widgets and others. Many launcher options. I use ADW and its a perfect blend of stability and customization. I've heard very good things about Shift deck. In my opinion sense is super slow compared to AOSP. People have said that the Mikshift G runs like AOSP. But to me, i can see the difference. So I'm gonna vote for plain and simple cyanogen

Just got a Hero again a few after i got my old one destroyed.. Back then there wasnt even made a custom rom, so now im going to ask here.
What Custom Rom do you guys recommend ? I have tried allready tried ChocolateFroyo and SalsaSense 4 .. However none of these two roms seems to perform good enough for me to use..
Actually its not that i want that much.. I just want a Android 2.x rom with a good performance and OC kernel + HTC Sense.. I just tend to stick to the 2.2 roms because 2.3 has too many bugs and i've heard that the Android 2.1 roms still suffer from the Random SMS sending issue..
Can you guys recommend anything ? Thanks !
If you want performace, go Vanilla Eclair. If you want Sense and over 2.1, it is a bit trickier. You can try Herolatte, but if you think ChocolateFroyo was too slow, there probably is no current rom which suits you.

I haven't even tried out the Stock 2.1 rom yet.. Hows the performance on that ? And its not like ChocolateFroyo is slow, i just a lot of lag spikes.. Like its performing well enough but then suddenly it all freezes for like 15 seconds and then comes back..
I reccomend Kimera 3.0. Its almost as fast as Vanilla, IMO a bit more stable. I used it for around a month, and recived all my texts, and calls. Only problem is that there is no Apps2SD if you use Fly13 (It's the best kernel imo)

Gonna try that rom.. Just skipped it because of the extra steps when installing ! Not gonna need Apps2SD anyways as i only have around 7 - 9 apps installed
Well, kimera is nice, but it is Eclair, so if you're afraid of random messages... BTW I've never experienced these on any Rom. Seems it only affects some ppl

Yeah i noticed that.. Not that big of a deal
I've tried loads of different rom's and the herodeck 1.3e from my sig is my favourite. I try others but keep going back to it. Why not backup your existing..... flash a new one..... try it out for your own needs and if it's no good.... flash something else that's been recommended or revert back to your backup.

Using Cyangenod released by Elelinux. It contains the latest android version 2.3.7 and is very stable. However this rom is in my opinion not very fast.
I've only really tried a few, sense roms are always slow with all the features. Try elelinux speedmachine running 2.2, I don't know of a faster rom, I haven't tried them all though.
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
I've always used VillainRom 13 - nice and fast with Sense. If you don't need sense then VanillaEclair seems to be the best judging by what I've heard. I used Elelinux's Gingerbread for a while and that was nice too, but I like Sense too much
Good GB rom
The decked again Hero CDMA ported rom is the fastest GB rom I have tried ALOT of them, so I would recommend that for you!
I use
I use Elelinux-7.1-Hero-Custom-v2 on a every day basis.
Works fine, no FC and quite fast.
I can recommend it.
If you want a fast, stable build I'd recommend Villain Rom since the hero was build to support Android 2.1 and you'll have sense. If you like new and improved and are no stranger to tweaking I'd recommend HTX zero rom wit Android 2.3.5 and Sense 3.5. Very cool and fast.I use it daily now.
VR13 and the new release Heroine++ are the fastest for the hero. (if you like sense to much)...if you like AOSP you go for a CM rom or others
for aosp i tested:
1.CM7 - CM team
2.Eles Rom
3.OMFGB - JieeHD

AOSP (android open source project) is regular android with no overlay like Sense or TouchWiz.
Non-AOSP is android with an overlay like Sense.
Sometimes the AOSP rom is faster because there is no extra overlay.
It comes down to preference - look and feel.

Team GTP presents Gingerbreaton for the HTC Thunderbolt
After working on gingerbread in the little amount of free time yoda and I have had, we both feel it's to a point where we would like to share it with all of you. Overall we are sticking to the ideas we started with, simplicity, stability and speed. You'll see all three of those reflected in our latest build. There are many other changes that are planned including a toolbox and a few themes by yoda. Also as of right now this build is sense 2.1. We will be adding in sense 3.0 and 3.5 as soon as we finish getting everything ported over ourselves. Also, I am gonna do my best to credit everyone I can, if I forget to credit you for something feel free to send me a pm and I'll correct it.
Sorry for the slow movement guys, yoda moved on to a nexus and I've been really busy. It's me myself working on this but I'm very proud of what I've been able to accomplish. This should be just as good if not better than before

Hurr? I thought it was basically porting the Runnymede rom to the thunderbolt? OR haha sorry if I'm annoying xD But if its just Sense 3.5, and you want to theme sense the way its supposed to be themed, then that leaves me under the impression its stock therefore, there is no need to theme? Or making different (optional) themes which are decent themes and are consistent (unlike far far too many Sense theme roms I've seen)
That reminds me, why have the only Sense 3.5 ROMs on the Thunderbolt thus far been ported from the Vigor? Am I the only one who thought it was much more logical to port the Runnymede's ROM? The Droid Incredible has had it for an eternity now
So this ROM is like to show how fast it can be (as its damn near bone stock) and Runnymede port is comin' right up? Again, jizzin in mah pants man xDD
Also, I should be able to make the animations stock by replaceing framework-res.apk in this rom from the one in the official gingersense build, correct?
Sorry if I talk too much lmfao i get excited about Sense :3

1) no extra theming to sense besides what you already see everything will stay the same. The only theming we are doing is in the form of sense skins. Different optional themes as you put it.
2) I've made modifications to the system to have it run the way it does and the way the kernel and rom handle memory and the other modifications I made are different than stock with it not having recent apps and such. We're keeping things simple so no heavy theming within the framework.
3) I will be adding in flashable zips for stock animations and other writeups on battery saving tips and such. Do not replace the framework-res.apk I will make the changes and have it in a zip for people who want it tomorrow. I'll also be getting the rom up into rom manager here soon as well.

Going to load this on my work phone as my personal phone got the OTA (or partial) GB updated from Verizon. Not sure why as I was running ER 1.7 and I had to load a new ROM just to get it to work.
Any chance you guys will do a stock battery meter? I really don't care for the gas gauge.
Sweet! Stock Sense 3.5! You rock man!! Just a few more to ask lmfao
You'll also put up flashable zips for stuff like (as you've said) stock animations, but what about stock battery percent icon (smooth sense icons), enabling recent apps, and extended quick settings? Not trying to bother you, I'm just curious to know what wonderful goodies lie ahead lol. Or you can surprise us XD

I don't have a lot of spare time but I'm working on what I can. The rom is car theme based which is why the fuel gauge is there. I have to re-write some xml files to get all the smooth animations to works and it's not that re writing them is hard it's just a longer process than i have had time for. When we finish the tool box you'll be able to change the battery icon to stock and add or remove battery percentage etc. Most of these features you're asking about will be in the toolbox in some form. The extended quick settings are planned for a future release.
I do what I can to make things as fast and as stable as possible, and we'll try to get the toolbox set up asap but for the moment I'm doing everything I can with the limited time I have.
Sweet man, thanks. You're awesome! I very much appreciate the hard work devs put into some of these amazing ROMs, hell, I even love to use alot of bases to make my own. Its frustrating sometimes, but nothing more satisfying than having the phone run exactly as you programmed it to run!

What do you like to do in terms of development?
Hey guys if you dont know me I was a rom dev for the xperia but moved on to the DZ. HAven't yet made a rom for the DZ, yet.
But I have been flashing non-stop since i got this phone. Its just I can't decide what I should stick to, and what will match my needs.
So im a highschool student, calendars reminders are big for me and staying organized. I play basketball and watch it too so video and stuff is needed.
But Im also a dj/producer and i need the best sound. I also like to play games ocassionaly as well.
I really love Sense 3.0 but I cant handle the laggyness even with swap enabled, is there anything else that can be done? I was on virtuous 2.00 (sense 2.1) for 2 weeks it was stable and all, but the battery was pretty drainable fast. BlissBeatMod is promising if some of it can get less laggy. And we'll have to see what Virtuous Tretanique (Affinity) will go.
Aosp is nice and fast but I dont really get the nice looks and features that miui have to offer.
Miui is really nice im running BulletProof right now. But i still dont feel like its the "one". and the quality of music isnt as great on sense even with equalizer options on.
PLEASE TELL ME ANY SUGGESTIONS, ALL WILL BE APPRECIATED
i personally have ILWT CM7... fast yet battery efficient... plus, there's alot of themes you can add to it so it can be visually good too

Thanks a lot, once I decide what kind I will produce I will start.
Ok Im running ILWT. It is amazing. I put a theme on. Very fast. But still some reason it just seems "boring". And the sms app on aosp/cm7 isnt as sexy.
yea i know exactly where youre coming from, I always want a newer prettier ROM... I wish someone would release one that just didnt look like it was android almost, and not like iphone, or anything, something with an original GUI.. yes i realize that's a lot to ask btw and not something I would be able to do myself but I think it'd be cool and get a lot of support! In the mean time the one I've found to be the freshest for me is MIUI because of how the themes affect like everything and really the launcher is what catches my eye, im kinda excited for the ROU launcher
i used to use cm7 and miui before. cm7 is lightweight rom, smooth and has excellent battery life. but it is lack of killer feature such as in its sms functionality, the smart dialer and etc. of course you can always download apps from market for that functions but it takes forever to load those apps on startup.
so i moved to miui, which i am currently running with bulletproof miui rom. it is rich with functionality, ridiculously-convenient-built in-features and interfaces, but consume more battery compared to cm7 unless you made certain tweak on its OC/UC. but its interface lacks of originality because it is obviously a mimic of iOS. but so far i m happy using miui.
i want to try sense based rom, but from what i learned, sense based is laggy. i miss sense interface though. look clean.
OK, if you think cm7 is boring (and I agree) I suggest you give MexDroid a spin. It was my DD for quite some time. The only reason it's not anymore is because I found Bulletproof MIUI. but I'm sure you've already tried MIUI. if not. Tun4f1sh's Bulletproof is the ONLY one I recommend.
More options would be most welcome I'm sure. I'm trying to figure out how to port roms from hd forums at the moment. The collective's absolution looks pretty sweet.

Neat, I like that idea. Kinda like having a nand backup without the pain of restoring everytime you want to switch.
I also champion Bulletproof, tun4 and tsubus seem to make sure this Rom stays a top contender. There is also talk of miXdroid Mod which is a miui meXdroid, looking forward to seeing how that one turns out

MIUI is great, iv been runing Bulletproof, it's definitely unique miui whit its virtuos oc controller witch cough my eye. But now i got ICS fever on me, not for the isc gui but some of the features. I stumbled on Galnet MIUI whit ics framework. runing fine, tried it for couple days, and the batterylife seems fine, maybe. Ill stick to this since it seems to work, and hope for updates whit possibly some new ics features.(its still same MIUI ui and functionality)
after we get somewhat working ICS, i will try that a little, and propably get back to MIUI.
I'm on Bulletproof MIUI at the moment but since the iPhone-esque UI makes my eyes hurt I installed LPP and some icon pack (can't remember the name). That way I still have the looks of Android but can combine with the impressive speed and flow of the Bulletproof MIUI ROM.
CM 7.1 for me lacks a little bit of polish visually (can't wait for CM9!) compared to Sense based ROMs and IMO MIUI offers that. I like Sense but any Sense based ROM I've tried has started to get laggy on me after a while.
Bulletproof MIUI for the win...I also like good old Cyanogen too, but for a nice mix of speed AND looks MIUI is tops for me
Love the look of Sense, but too slow and laggy
Check my thread, i got a bunch of videos of roms and see which one you like the best

in this few days, i have been testing 3 sense 3.5 rom, beatmode, affinity and rcmix.
for someone who has a very sensitive sense like me, i cant stand to wait for the phone to response due to insufficient memory in sense 3.5.
its time to go back to miui bulletproof.
I have tried many of them. CM and MIUI is cool, I just miss too many features from sense. Sense 3.0 is either laggy or will get laggy after a while. So, I always go back to my Virtuous Sense 2.0.0 NAND backup.
But: question here: why is this draining the battery soooo badly? Apart from this, this could be THE perfect ROM.

Sense is smooth and polished, but every custom Sense ROM that I have ever flashed is a battery hog, even the Sense 2.1 + 3.0 hybrids.
So my current favorite is G-lite 1.05 - it's like stock + overclocking + better than stock battery life (due to deep sleep)
I like sense and am currently running Virtuous Afinity but I can see me switching to an ASOP build of ICS when it's stable enough
