Any company that can repair Atric hardware? - Atrix 4G General

I have many scratches on my phone, including a couple on the screen. Is there a place where I can send my phone and get it to look brand new?? Thanks

Look into buying the parts and doing it yourself. Atrix is easy o take apart. Google for the guide.

Oh hell!! I suck at taking stuff apart, broke my old phone tryna change the housing.

Have you checked to see if Motorola is willing to do repairs?

What's an Atric?
Anyways,
here is a teardown - seems really easy to repair:

An Atric is a typo of Atrix, an easy typo to boot as on a QWERTY keyboard the "c" is next to the "x".

Get most of your Atrix parts from cnn.cn and do it yourself and save some bucks in the process...
Cheers!

Really?? We had been covering cracked screens free with replacement or repair at our store. As of today we don't though.

Yeah a buddy of mine just went through this with Sprint a week or so ago. Bummer though.
Not covered if you have the accidental damage or whatever sprint calls it coverage? Or you're saying you have to go through assurion and pay $100?
Can I still get mine fixed without insurance for $35?
Well now every cracked screen has to be replaced through insurance claim with $100 deductible. Pretty much back to how things used to be.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Hmm... Wonder what sprint is going to do with all the surplus of screens in inventory... Were they losing too much $$ on these repairs?
If you have the right tools (wedges and torx bits), how difficult is it to swap a screen out?

I'm not really sure I believe this until Sprint says so. That was one of the big points of the warranty change a few months ago, I doubt they would change it back this quick.

I just had a Evo replaced 2 days ago due to a cracked screen. There was no insurance on the line. They charged me 35$ and handed me a new phone. This was in Southern Indiana. Whole process took about 15 minutes at a corporate store.

Motorola refuses to repair xoom

Sent my bricked xoom in to Motorola a few weeks ago, they called today claiming it was not repairable, they are sending it back tomorrow. They didn't mention anything about it being rooted, just stated they will not cover it. I guess I asked for it.....

It's a sad day for you
This is why I got my 1 year warranty from Bestbuy. They cover it regardless of what I flash.
I wonder if there is any way to pull that off with the best buy warranty, any idea how long it is till you can no longer buy a warranty

You can purchase the Best Buy PSP (their black tie service plan) up until the day you can return your Xoom for a refund (30 days / 45 if you are a silver rewards member). With the Best Buy PSP you can literally trash your Xoom and they'll give you another one (stupid policy IMO). This includes rooting/hacking/flashing/doing whatever the hell you want to it.

You're making a smart decision. Unless you are 110% comfortable with development tools I would always advice against rooting and flashing custom software on your Xoom. In almost every single instance where I've seen someone come post about their bricked Xoom it was obvious that they didn't have the first CLUE what they were doing.
It was bricked by clockwork SD partition for some reason now they say they can't fix it
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
To OP, sorry to hear that. I had the same issue as you and the whole process from the day I called to the day I received the new Xoom was 7 days. I was kinda suprised, was thinking that I might have to pay for the repair. Maybe too many bricked Xoom sent in for repair with the same issue.

I wonder if it would be worth your while calling Motorola and explaining exactly what has happened, mention that you'd be willing to pay for a repair subject to cost? It would be a real shame if they can't help you out.
Motorola had my xoom for 3 weeks. Just got a call.from the customer advocacy office telling me it is not repairable and it is not covered under warranty, I offered to pay and they said no,
it is stuck at MOTO dual core, volume buttons are unresponsive

At this point if you got it covered under homeowners whats the point.
PS: I'd like to know how you got it covered for only a $50 deductable. Is there an addon to your insurance that covers electronics?
Yes there is a home computer and electronics add on for 15 bucks a year. Pretty much equivalent to best buys black tie warranty only better!! I didn't even know I had it till today. I pretty much wanted to post this as a warning, Motorola seems to have had enough but who knows. I figured they would replace it so they wouldn't get any bad publicity since sales are somewhat weak, but I was wrong. Oh well live and learn I guess

So you were hoping they would honor a voided warranty cause sales are weak? Don't want to be dickish but thats the risk we run rooting and flashing. It's like if i bought a new car put a blower on it and blew the motor. I couldn't take it back and say fix it. But glad to hear you found a way to get a xoom.
Not honoring a voided warranty is one thing; we all take on that responsibility the moment we unlock the device. Refusing to repair the device even if you are willing to PAY for the repairs is quite another. Hard to believe the thing is just a throw-away.
I have liberty mutual insurance, I sent it to Motorola not expecting anything but it can't hurt to try, I work in the auto business and we warranty a lot of things that are or should void the warranty but in order to keep happy customers and no bad press we just warranty it, I figured they might just fix it like they have for others, oh well, maybe ill post a YouTube video of it stuck at the MOTO screen and use it for Target practice Haha, or even start a site called WWW.trashmyxoom.com. Haha only thing to do now is laugh it off ....oh and don't do it again!

Removing Cincinnati Bell logo

Has anyone managed to remove the ugly Cincinnati Bell decal logo off their vibrants? If so, how did you go about doing this?
LOL, I've seen that logo and its substantially more obnoxious than any other logo I've seen. I can't remember exactly but I think its up at the top alot like the T-Mobile logo is just ALOT BIGGER(a pic might help maybe?). If it is then I know the Otter Box case covers up that whole section. It will still be there but at least you won't have to look at it anymore. Good luck!

lol, Yup thats what I was thinking. I saw one in person once and that was the first thing I noticed, the gawd awful logo!
- have your tried some sort of paint thinner? maybe goo-gone? be careful tho
- seriously google "samsung vibrant otterbox" images, its a great case and it will cover that area completely.
I removed my CB logo with a razor blade and bit of patience.

Meh. It's harmless, and I've barely noticed it was there since I got my phone a couple months ago.
Why risk possibly damaging the phone or the gorilla glass?

Two reasons - the screen protector bubbles around it and two; everyone and their cousin asks you why there's a sticker on the front of your phone.
A co-worker removed his with his fingernail and a CreditCard.
John
Comes right off
... if you just use a little bit of isopropanol and a kimwipe (or if you don't have that, try using a non-scratch dish sponge)
Guess what it says underneath?!? T-mobile LOL
If it's just a decal, heat it up a little (leave it on your dash) and see if you can't get it off then. Several years ago I owned a small graphics company and we used this stuff called "Vinyl Up" to remove anything with an adhesive. It's very gentle and doesn't eat paint. That said, it's a little expensive in this context.

Replacing camera hardware

Does anybody know how I would go about opening my phone and replacing the camera? My hardware camera part is broken (as far as I can tell, neither the camera or flash work any more in any rom or app) but I have more than one person offer to help me out (jgross something and my dev friend) and let me take the camera out of their test or spare device. problem is, I have no idea how to open the phone without breaking something, or taking the camera out. and I definitely have no idea how to connect it unless it is like a computer type deal.
plus side is, I have access to lots of different tools between my dad, friends and work, and I repair and take apart computers all the time so I have experience with small connectors like for internal parts of net books and whatever.
tl;dr if you know how to take apart a fascinate and replace a camera, or can link to somewhere that I can learn, you rock

I actually wrecked my car (totalled it, not my fault) last Monday morning, my phone apparently hit the dashboard hard enough to kinda fix the camera. It works for long enough to take a couple of pictures then messes up.
Anyways, I received a replacement camera, but am pretty busy dealing with insurance claims and stuff right now, I will make sure to document and post an update if I ever get around to doing it.

[Q] My amoled cracked. Any Suggestions on what i should do.

I can't believe it happened to me but my amoled underneath the screen cracked while it was in its case. It cracked while I was getting into my truck.
How did others get theirs fixed? I have it insured by AT&T but it will cost another 200$ I only bought this a little over a month ago. Any other cheaper alternatives besides trying to fix it myself?

from the reports i've been hearing, fixing it yourself is actually more expensive, the $200 charge is cheaper then what the amoled is worth.
I would call samsung for just warranty repair. If internal is damaged but external has no sign of damage, they usually honor the warranty.
This is what I did, I called for warranty repair, they wanted the description of damage. It was pretty much as same as OP problem. They wanted me to send pictures via email both on and off screen. I guess they wanted to see if the glass was undamaged. After few email exchanges, they honored the warranty repair.
I always be blunt and frank with them but try not to be a ****. If you show respect and tell truth, they will be nice to you too.

I didn't pay any. Make sure you tell them external has no indication of any damages. Just keep teeling them that. Tell them digitizer/oled started making weird lines.
AT&T also has 1 year warranty as well so I would try both. But I always get better result straight through manufacturer than carriers.
I hope this helps and good luck.
