There's a guide written by me here that teaches you how to transcode movies and videos with Handbrake to suitable format, or you can install MX Player or Diceplayer.

A501 is the same as A500 except that it has 3G which the A500 doesn't have.

Because it is included with the price of that phone and licensed to that phone only . If you buy a PC with Windows 7 pre installed, it is stealing to to take the boot disks if they are included, and install Win 7 on another machine.
Same here !

Transformer Location...
The Micro card has both Transformer Movies on it & there are
"core programs" on it as well which are needed to make the HD2 work properly, so if you take out the card some programs will not work which is why we are told not to take the card out. Depending upon your expertice you will know what you can do with the card & what (& if needed or want) you can do regarding the card.
Good movies I enjoyed them both.

it came with the TMOUS phones, and they are "liscensed" only for those phones, hence posting would be considered illegal.
Please post the encoding settings once you've analyzed it. Have done a plethora of different encodes, but still haven't found the optimal values.

Thanks for your response
Not to double post but core programs & the movie's on the card are part of the phone OS therefore removing would be classified as illegal. I learned this from a TMO Tech a few nights ago in my search to understand properly, including the small sizes of towers & their locations & where they can go & the waiting time of 40 days before TMO will unl..k your phone for you. (Including the negativity of UMA ).

If this is warez, then so are ROMs and all the HTC programs that are freely distributed here. Those too are also licensed for the particular phone they were on, yet they are cabbed and distributed everyday.

I'm running WM6.5... I wanted to try WP7... But I don't feel like having to format the whole phone just to give it a try...
(and I wasn't able to make the full version emulator work )

I don't know about never. But WP7 is leaps and bounds above WM6.5 in usability. Not so much in tweaking. Like the MS commercials it's designed for you to use the phone quickly and then go back to what you were doing...

64GB Micro SD-Cards out!

I'm sure it'll be expensive as hell when it first arrives, but KingMax is releasing a 64GB Micro SD-Card.
There shouldn't be any compatibility issues, since I'd be formatting that as ext4 for use in my Xoom anyway.
Thought the max for compatibility was 32GB.

Pretty sure that's just a filesystem issue with FAT; since I'll be formatting as ext4 that won't be an issue unless the kernel itself can't issue the block commands, and that's something that's readily fixed.

WOW. Thus, I will have 96 GB tablet. Whoohoo.
Oh, I've been waiting for this!
Once it's tested, I'll get the Sandisk one.
Out of curiousity, what will you use the 96gb for?

IOW, oh, I'm sure we'll think of something!
Hmmm... I am not sure the stability of handling 64GB since it was stated to support up to 32 GB.
I have a dell streak 7 which say supporting it up to 32GB, but my system got unstable whenver I got my SDCard in for a while. (only for a while, not immediately it will be unstable).
It restarts randomly and dead on sleep when I have the SDCard on. I tried to go back to stock on roms and it still happened until I gave up and took out the sdcard.
Based on this experience, I would rather think Android system's capability of handling large external SDCard is not perfect/stable. I may just hold a cautious but certainly happy view on this news =)

... and as a kernel dev, I think you just had a crap SD-Card
The device should handle any card regardless of size really, even without ext4 (the volume limit of FAT is something like 2Tb).
I read somewhere that Android didn't support ext4 on SD card without a custom kernel, is this correct? Seems odd considering the kernel must have ext4 support to read/write to the internal filesystems.
32 GB is usually mentioned by any device because that's the largest size that was actually tested with. Once they validate that 64 GB cards work (which they probably will), they will probably update the official specs.
Just a validation thing.

Yeah, there's probably a misunderstanding somewhere in what was written or read. For all intents and purposes, our internal storage (which has two filesystems on ext) is not much more electrically than a soldered-in SD-Card.

Nice quotes. I'm just curious, no need to flame. (96gb wouldn't do much for me; too much for basic stuff, but too little to hold everything. It would be a storage shuffling nightmare for me. I'm curious how people use their tablets).

And, yes it "on record" only supports up to 32gb, but thats only bc nothing higher was around at the time to test with.

[Q] USB Digital TV Tuner for Thrive?

Yes, I know this has been asked on the Xoom and Transformer forums.
And on the Archos Gen 8 they have a working setup: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=871391
Question is, Will a USB TV tuner setup like the one for the Archos work under Honeycomb on the Thrive? If not, what will need to be done?
Comments / Suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Well, guess that after almost 3 and a half months and 412 views there is no interest for this feature for the Thrive.
Thanks.

ExFat on SIII

It has been confirmed that the SIII support EXFAt out of the box. Samsung uses a proprietary kernel driver that supports it. Wondering if it's possible to implement this on our Note?

Uh, quite obvious, to support exFat on our Notes? It supports files over 4GB in size and works natively under Windows, unlike EXT.

The advantage is quite big actually.
It will allow for files larger than 4GB, for movie storage this is not a luxury.
yes. My 64 Gb microsdcard formated in Exfat works really well on my new galaxy SIII. 10Gb 1080p MKV files play very smoothly.
it would be a BIG feature!!!!
It was the only reason that's I'm thinking to get s3
don't think its possible but hope so

It does, but NTFS is even more of a closed format than ExFAT is, and the SGS3 doesn't support NTFS so there's no drivers to grab.
Pretty sure there is an NTFS module that'll work with CM9, I presume the same would be true for ExFAT.
It still amuses me that people put >4GB movies on their phone. I don't think I've got anything >2.5GB and at a casual glance you can hardly tell the difference from the original BluRay on a proper TV, much less a 5.3" display.

Because we don't want to convert and lose time and resources in it.
I want to download and play in the phone, no more steps.

thats only because you have a gs3
I'm hoping for this feature to, a lot of films and programsare under 4gb now but for the ones that aren't I can't be arsed to convert them it takes to long.
I really dont see the need but I guess it would help someone. I guess Im the only guy that converts movies right before I go to bed or while im at work.
I need to be able to record more than 50 minutes of video without the camera stopping at the 4GB limit.
It is so tantalizing to have the solution so near, yet so far... unless I buy a GS3 A nexus won't do - it has no SD card.
Sigh...
I have the 64gb uhs1 sandisk card formatted with fat using ubuntu command line. Works great on my note and windows 7. Am I missing something here? Using cfroot lpy.

It's not about "Note" supporting 64GB card. It's about "Note" supporting a single file above 4GB. Unfortunately FAT doesn't allow to do that.
