I could be wrong but I believe that the HTC Widgets require the HTC Framework in order to run. So if you are thinking HTC widgets in Cyan or MIUI....then forget it...never gonna happen!!
I kinda think that is one of the reasons that Cyan & MIUI were developed though for those who don't necessarily want to run Sense. You want Sense widgets?...then run a Sense ROM.
Cheers,

Agreed Sense needs HTC propriatey drivers and framework files and as long a CM refuses to use good drivers for the devices that they were made for it will never happen
the point is that really cool stuffs are coming for sense roms

So I decided to buy ROM Manager to support the project but have to admit I was a little disappointed. Sadly I prefer the candy coating of Sense to that of CM. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot to like in CM too. I just tend to like the polish of Sense. Regardless, I had thought I might have direct access to many of the ROMs I've seen throughout the forums. Apparently that's not the case. Does ROM Manager only support CM ROMs?
No worries. I know I could get a refund for the App and return it but I'm cool with it. Maybe in the future more ROMs will become available for it for the Incredible.
Rom Manager supports virtually any rom, it's just a matter of the author setting up his server to work with Rom Manager AFAIK. More will be added eventually.
The chefs have to opt in to be included in ROM manager. Moto Droid had tons of stuff to choose from and I loved it. I have yet to see anything interesting in ROM Manager for the Incredible. Urge your favorite chefs to participate!
Ok, thanks guys. Hopefully things will get more active in the future then.
ROM Manager will gain more roms in due time, there isn't really alot of roms out for the inc as it is now. Also like mentioned its up to the rom devs to put them on there. They will come.

I used to be a fan of Sense, but the fact of the matter is that it's bloated.
There are plenty of alternatives in a ROM like CM for all of the Sense features you'd miss.
Also u can download any ROM and use ROM Manager to install it. Just download rom go into rom manager and choose install from SD. Imho its easier than booting into recovery and installing. So, i. A sense it does support everything else. Its also ez to manage and restore ur backups through ROM manager. Once u use it for a while and figure it out it can b a very handy tool if u are addicted to flashing ROMS. Goodluck i hope this can b of assistance to u

Yeah the developer of ROM Manager strongly encourages all devs to submit their ROMs... Other phones such as the Moto Droid have a much larger selection... As ROM development gets further along, there will be more on ROM Manager for Incredible as well.
I think the incredible has been hurt by the lack of phones available. I don't recall the original moto droid having inventory issues like the incredible. I think this has hindered rom development and availability of different roms. Imagine if we did not have months of no incredible phones available. The popularity of the incredible might be different, thus in my mind making the demand and supply of roms more available.
I am a big fan of Cyanogen's roms so not that big of a deal for me. I know that once the drivers are released the camera will be fixed. I am wondering if we will be able to have video out with cyan's roms?
Either way - rom manager is a great program and has a lot of different functionalities and uses. Some listed below:
flashing other roms (duh)
nandroid
partition sd card
fix permissions
Let's hope that HTC releases the drivers soon

No there isnt ... there are a few similar apps that just dont quite do it and there are others that are such crapware you would be embarrassed to show your phone to anyone. Seriously when i went with a vanilla UI and tried to find alternatives to Sense widgets and apps, I found out just how crappy the apps were on this OS.

Well I'll have to half agree with you there, there are some Sense widgets that I could never find replacements for. It's really a trade off, although it would be nice if we could somehow extract some of those to be used with a 3rd party or even stock launcher
Looks like SkyRaider was added to ROM Manager

LOL! I'd like to think I may have had something to do with that. I PM'd him earlier and in short time he replied letting me know he was going to add it. Maybe he was going to do it anyway, I don't know.
Regardless, it GREAT that other cookers are starting to get in on the action. I think more people will end up trying their ROMs too. It's a win - win for everyone.

Launcher Pro is going to support that.
Sounds interesting, but it'd be nice if your battery lasts longer than 20 minutes on a full charge, unlike when you're running Sense.
Btw camera is working on cm6 for the inc supposedly. So maybe the dev of skyraider can implement the fix some how.

I think I saw something posted in ROM Manager in the Sky Raider area to fix this. Don't know the specifics or if the video is working. I plan on installing the ROM when I get some free time later.
We already have Froyo (CM6) but not with Sense.
Desire is getting 2.2 Froyo with Sense Update this weekend.
Also Evo is getting it Ago. 3 but that one cannot be ported or I'm wrong?
It can be ported to Hero?

Which Sense apps? There are great replacements for almost if not all of them.
I loved Sense and would not flash an AOSP Rom, but once they released the first build of CM6 back in June I flashed it and kept it on my phone for 3 weeks. I installed launcher pro and beautiful widgets along with some other apps that I thought were decent like extended control widget. I got sense deprived and flashed a sense rom back on, but found myself reinstalling launcher pro because I like dock a lot more than Sense. And people can say that they can make a ROM with Sense just as fast as froyo are lying. I tried everything I could to get it as fast as froyo but was unable too. I have DC running right now, because I am working on porting something over from the EVO. Once everything is working on CM6 I will flash again.
The only thing that may be good is to get the HTC framework working with froyo and then you can still use the HTC apps, but other than that you can find alternative widgets that are close to or better than the HTC widgets

IMHO, the only one Not replaceable is the VVM. (and no, GoogVoice is not a great alternative/just as good, frankly. the number forwarding shell game, redundant emails, txtx, etc, annoying. and simply not as responsive or "easy to use") I hate to say it, but it was this feature that sold me on this phone. of course since I have found other reasons to love it.
everything else can be replaced easy. (in fact, msg me w/ your email, I can send a pack...)
personally not using Froyo just yet, looking forward to a Sense port as well... but I can wait.
Sorry guys but the topic here is not if you like Sense or Not...
The Topic is....
If it is possible to Port HTC Desire Froyo with Sense that is going to be released this weekend????
It can be ported to Hero?

golly, sorry to have totally sent your thread into offtopic there, buddy, but to answer your question I think:
well, it really depends on what phone its being released for... as far as I know, whats coming out is for the EVO, Desire, etc... and as darchstar said in this thread:
darchstar said:
u guys r such n00bz . we can't port an htc evo rom cuz its optimized to run on snapdragon armv7 arch. it will never boot with those libs. our hopes for a 2.2 sense rom would be a froyo legend rom, or a froyo espresso rom, as those both have libs optimized for armv61/armv5te

and the desire also runs the snapdragon, so... no.

Ok Thanks!
No porting the desire is not worth while. The legend will be the one I and several other dev's are waiting for this will get ported to the hero.

Is it possible to add HTC Sense to the Samsung Epic? Is there a launcher that can do this or just complete different UI theme or even a complete ROM? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

LauncherPro is an alternative launcher that can be used with the epic -- However, although there is 'HTC Sense' themse for the launcher itself, I think they would have to be ported over for it to work.
TouchWiz is great, I had hero before epic. In my opinion TW definitely out performs Sense, and isn't as bulky. First question everyone will ask you is "Why not just bye the evo if you wanted Sense?"

I have the Epic Experience ROM currently flashed I think, and it has Launcher Pro (I also think, ha). What you're saying is that there are HTC Sense themes for Launcher Pro? Mind explaining how I would be able to change the theme of Launcher Pro to have HTC Sense? And there's a simple, easy answer for that question; The Epic has a nice keyboard that the EVO does not.
You will need to do some google work. First find a LauncherPro sense theme. Then research how to port it over to epic.

You can add Sense UI by buying an EVO
As far as actually adding HTC Sense to this phone: It won't happen mostly because Sense is all closed source.

I have a evo as well with sense custom rom and it a lot more functional as far as features go. I love sense, to bad its not availble on the epic. You can always get an evo however the evo doesn't compare to the epic in power. Movies, games and eveything looks better on the epic thanks to it gpu and super amoled.
I think ROM devs might be able to port it over, but we might have to wait for HTC to release a phone similar enough to ours first. That's what happened on my old G1, at least.

That doesn't make it an impossible task, there's always decompilers, computer science forensics, and educated guess-work that could probably accomplish the job. Whether or not anyone would be willing to take the time to do it is another question.
Of course someone who can code could just start from scratch to build something that gives the same front end results as sense whether or not the back end is actually sense probably wouldn't matter to the end user.
Today gingerbeard was launched. My question is, is it possible for devs to combine the nu gingerbeard with Sense HD?
Kind regards
no, as long as htc doesn't come up with 2.3 sense hd, there wont be any im afraid...

No. It consists of loads of frameworks and libraries, hence why you don't see any Sense programs in CyanogenMod builds.

it's not just a launcher... there are many more applications, libs, etc. involved in the sense experience and until they are not ported to 2.3 there wont be any sense hd gingerbread... just like 2.2 couldn't be ported until htc made one ...
hey, is it possible to port the widgets and stuff like the 3d launcher from the evo in an apk?
If you're talking about HTC Sense stuff then no. HTC Sense launcher, widget and apps are intertwined with the android framework. The only way to get them on the Atrix would be a full HTC Sense ROM port. Unless you use an app off the market that mimics the functionality. Custom launchers, customizable widgets, etc.
oh! makes sense haha. I want to get into developing and stuff. Would trying to port that be to hard of a project? xD

do you have any understanding of the Java programming language?
If not, then I would say yes, it would definitely be difficult until you learned it.
