Hi Friends,
I'm currently running stock JPM on my SG3 with root access. Now I want use the wireless tethering functionality to use my phones 3g connection in my laptop over the air (not usb tethering) via wifi network.
So I've installed two apps - Barnacle WiFi Tether & Open Garden Tether and configure them correctly without any passkey. Now my cell is broadcasting the wifi signal but my laptop is unable to connect to this network. I'm not sure if I've missed anything here or not
Can you help me out to successfully connect to my laptop. Here is the event viewer log that I got from windows vista home premium.
Pleased please help me. Thanks in advance.

I got following dialogue box when trying to logon to the dial-up network using XdaII as modem and bluetooth dongle from my laptop.
Is there a way to work around it?
Registering your computer on the Network.
Error 734: The PPP link control protocol was terminated.
Just to add an extra note, it did managed to work with my first attempt, but failed the next day when I try to logon again.
On my laptop, under Network connection, I'm using the Bluetooth Modem (COM8) for Dial-up, but under Bluetooth Advanced Configuration, Local Service, the Network Dial-up is Lucent Win Modem (COM3).
Does not make too much sense to me.

Hi Folks !
I am a new bee to XDA. Just purchased it last week. My objective is simple. I want to surf on my XDA neo via WiFi using the internet connection of my Acer Travelmate 2350 notebook. I tried doing the following :
1) Start/Settings/Connections/Network Cards : Here in configure Wireless Network, I have an entry called "bridge". This entry has following settings, Network name : bridge, Connects to : The Internet. "This is a device-to-device (ad-hoc) connection" is checked on. In Network Key, Authentication is open and Data Encryption is "Disabled".
2) In Network Adapters , My Network card connects to : The Internet. I have SDIO WLAN Wireless Adapter configured as :
Use Server-assigned IP Address is chosen. Everything is blank for WINS and DNS server settings.
My Notebook has Linksys WiFi PCIMCIA data card. My notebook is connected to internet via bluetooth to Nokia 6151 using EGDE connection.
When I open my Internet Expoler on my XDA Neo, it doesn't allow me to surf the internet.
Can any greek folks out here help me please !
Hi all, I know this is a well-discussed issue, but for the life of me I cannot figure what's wrong here.
- Have wizard with wm6 (TNT edition)
- Have macbook pro running latest Leopard.
Want to tether between; use Edge connection on the macbook. Everything works except for one thing... the actual internet connection on the macbook <sigh>
Internet Sharing : ENABLED
Bluetooth PAN connection : CONNECTED
Device browser : Internet works
Macbook browser : No Internet
The OS X network diagnostics say that all is well (all green lights), yet no internet. Proxy is disabled on the macbook.
The only thing that stands out is that the Bluetooth PAN is always using / giving a private IP address (169.254...) and the search domain is strangely set to a network that I do not have access to before (but only then connected via wifi using DHCP); it is in a different country, yet showing up here! The search domain entry is greyed but always there (cannot delete) in the DNS entry for the connection. Never seen anything like that; not sure if it's the macbook or the device that is causing this, or even if this is the cause of no internet via PAN on the macbook.
Have read many many posts for days now and still not making heads or tails of why this failing.
Any advice, tips, hints, nudges appreciated! Want to surf via unlimited GPRS data account!
Ended up getting this to work after noticing the bluetooth PAN IP was defaulting to some wacky numbers, so did the following on the device:
- IP; entered manual IP address in the Bluetooth PAN device settings under Wifi -> Network Adapters (weird place for what is not Wifi, but it's Microsoft so no surprise).
- Submask; entered default submask (it auto fills for this)
- Router; entered the IP of the Remote-NDIS Host device (also in Network Adapters) which is apparently what the GPRS stack uses (had to go trial and error to find out).
After that, it works like a treat! Yah for unlimited data plan! But boo for dial up speed!
Hope this helps someone down the line.

Wizard with WM6
Hi everyone,
I have Ideos X5 and I cannot connect to wireless internet shared by my PC. I share my computer's internet from network and sharing center using "Set up a new connection or network". Whatever securiy type I've chosen (none, wep, wpa) I cannot even see the shared connection in the wireless networks list on my phone. I can easly connect to wireless networks shared by access points or wireless modems but as I said I cannot connenct to the wireless connection shared by my PC. My PC uses ethernet cable to connect to internet.
Thanks in advance
Solved
I solved the problem with a third party wireless hotspot software instead of using windows' default wireless internet share method.
Can you explai who you did it?
Just searh for virtual router in google
The windows sharing doesnt create an AP (Acess Point) it creates an ad-hoc network, so in order to connect with you phone you have to use an software that creates an AP... one case of that software is: virtual router
