problem with partition - XPERIA X8 General

ext3 partition doesnt support on gingerdx......
please give me instruction how to make it support??? please....
cwc partition wont support.................

EXT3 partitions is supported. I'm currently using GingerDX v006 with an 8GB card with 2 partitions (first FAT32, second EXT3).
Partitioned and formatted in Windows environment.
If you are coming from stock rom or other rom you should do full wipe and also re-format the ext3 partition.

Any help? I partition sdcard with fat32(primary) and Ext3 around 470mb(primary) in Windows then install rom and everything alright then install some apps. Then, when i reboot, its stuck on boot logo. I'm using Froyobread23b and I also tried partitioning with CWM (512mb ext), Zero swap, and again everything fine at first Installed apps, I looked at root explorer data/app and it save on sd..then after some time I reboot then stuck on logo again I've done it about 6 times already and i'm tired any help???? Is it not ok with FroyoBread??

Use CWM, it worked for me. Backup data on sd card first. And please set swap to 0.

App2SD - cyanogen

not sure if this has been answered yet as I don't think I can search in this app, but is there a way to enable app2sd on cyanogen 5.0.5.3?
Yes, under applications.
it's greyed out for me.

...probably not. I'm assuming if it isn't there isn't an easy way to do so and keep my data?. .. or is there? .
Use recovery 1.7 cyanogen version to make a ext2 partition then upgrade it from ext2 to ext3 to ext4. Mount your sd card and back it up before wiping it.
1 Install recovery 1.7 cyanogen
2 Boot into recovery
3 select patition sd card option
4 select partition sd
5 choose 0 for swap 1 to 2 gigs for ext2 and the rest will be fat32.
5 once that is done go back into patition sd card options and select ext2 to ext3 then after thats done select ext3 to ext4.
Hope this helps

Cyanogen did not write this recovery tool; Amon_RA created a CM-based theme for it as it was heavily requested. He also added in support for Soyars' Apps2SD implementation (what you are giving a how-to for).
You actually do not need to change ext types for this to work. For testing purposes, I left it as the stock ext partition type created by 1.7 and apps2sd works beautifully.

I never said it was made by Cyanogen. I know Amon_RA made it.
edit: deleted content, not important.
how can you revert the partition on the sd card?
i want to have the full space on my sd card just as it came from stock.

So that didn't seem to work.
I tried without the updating of ext3 and ext4 and no dice.
I finally SEEMED to have gotten it to work. I did the partition of:
SWAP 0
EXT2 2048
REMAINDER
Anyways, I did this WITHOUT the ext3 and ext4 updates. When I went into the OS, the App2SD is enabled and the SD card mounts fine.
Hopefully this will continue to work. Any1 know what the problems are without updating to ext4?

A REALLY EASY WAY TO PARTITION YOUR MEMORY CARD IS AS FOLLOWS...
back-up your card
download Clockwork Recovery MOD from the market
buy the pro version because this guy is a genius*
+you might have to in order to partition idk
click partition memory card (something like that)
i clicked 512MB then 256MB for the second option.
works amazingly

Do you have a linux distro handy?
if so, you can use Gparted to create the partitions. You might need a microSD adapter though, as it seems to have trouble finding the mount point if it is in the phone.

Installin a larger ROM help plz... :o/

Im kinda new to this but i have been reading & trying for a few days before asking for help but i feel i am stuck now.
I have gone through the process & installed a small rom with clockworkmod using a 150mb partition & it went ok.
Now i want to install a larger rom eg. pyramid_HTC_WWE_1.35.401.1_v1.5_EU.zip (338mb) using clockworkmod & this is where i have the problem, i have followed the steps but when installing the rom it freezes just under halfway install.
Using bootloader I have now used Task29 for a clean install, then installed MAGLDR113, using MAGLDR i used option 5 (USB flasher) & installed the unzipped () to make a partition for the larger rom.
After reboot i went to magldr option 8.AD Recovery & loaded clockworkmod, advanced then partition SD card, chose EXT size=1024, swap size=0M then rebooty.
Now am i supposed to see 4 partitionson my SD card because i cant?
one page i read that i should now transfer my ROM.zip to my Sd card, & i also read on another page that i should go to "mounts & storage" & chose "format sd-ext" I have tried both ways!
With the rom.zip on my card, i chose the "install zip from sdcard" option etc, it installs to just under half way then just stays there for ages, how long should this take for a 338mb zip file?
So i giveup, battery out & try it with a smaller zip (hyperdroid-cm7) 69mb zip & it installs ok, so where am i goin wrong??
Q1, after partitioning the SD card am i supposed to see 4 partitions on the card? because i dont, maybe i should partition it on my pc, do i just divide it into 4 partitions & name then ext, ext1, ext2, ext3? or is there a guide for doin it on ur pc?
Q2.can anyone see where else i might be going wrong?
I feel i am just doin the same thing over & over so thanks for any help you can give.
Something strange i have noticed that if i use the HD2 toolkit to try & create a 400mb partition i get an error sayin something about not enough space, i have to use a seperate Recovery_400M.zip that i downloaded from the NFEUMAN pages?
first of all your sd card patition is right. you must have 2 partitions, fat 32 and sd-ext. now in hd2 nand tool kit choose mgldr partition size as 'custom' then cache size 5MB then click repartition in usb flasher mode then write 190 in the opening window not 400. that's all.
I have managed to get the rom to bootup now after waiting for ages, but when booted it says the memory is low so im guessing its not using the SD card, when i look at the SD card i do not see any partitions so the partitioning tool in clockworkmod hasnt worked, is there a better way to partition the SD card for use with the rom?
you can see the partition in your sd by root explorer apk. or you can dowload to your pc mini tool partition magic an you can manage your partitions. windows doesn't see it.
Theres no mention when partitioning your SD card that you wont be able to see the partitions, i think they should mention that in the tutorials.
I downloaded gparted to partition my SD card & when i loaded it i could see that it had in fact worked when i had done it before.
I installed Apps2SD+ to see if it would sort out the low memory problem but the phone wouldnt boot, i waited 20 mins but it just stayed at the strtup screen.
I am doin it over again now with the partition size you suggested so hopefully this will work, should this allow more space for apps with this partition size?
i used the rom you try to use a few days ago. you dont have to install apps2sd etc. the rom just do that. so wipe everything and flash the rom, you will not face any room problem. to free some ram,you can use built in task manager or a task killer.
Hey mutil i have reinstalled the rom & it seems to be working great, but how do i use apps2SD? when i install new apps will they automaticly be installed to the SD card now, or do i have to chose the options somehow? thx.
yes they will go directly to sd-ext. if some applications like angry birds give force close error then get titanium backup from market, find the app that gives errorin titanium, long press on the app then choose 'move to sd'.
mutil thx for that advise. i just wanna ask you, before you installed the rom, what size clockwork mod recovery partition did you use? I used 190 as suggested above, but now reading back through the thread i see you can use a 170mb partition. Is it would be worth me doing it again as a 170mb partition, would i get any benifit do you think?
It doesn't worth to make a new partition. There will not be a great difference. Good luck.

For starters you need to make the 1st partion fat and the 2nd ext 2/3/4......
2nd at the moment we have no kernel with init.d support so scripts cannot mount the ext partition on boot ......

Ok, problem was, the backcover wasnt on, then the SDcard was not recognized. Now i got the ext partition working with link2sd, i just needed to setup it as ext3, and it now automounts when the system start. i doubt that it can switch davlik cache to partition but apps works fine. everytime i install a new app, it moves it to the sd card ext drive. Its not as comfortable as using Titanium directly to the Ext but its alright, just takes some more time. When i connect to a computer using the massstorage option, ext drive stays online and i can still use my apps. Thats what i wanted Thanks for the help anyways!!

HD2 stocks in Bootanimation after Reboot

Hi guys,
I'm having a problem with my HD2 and tytungs NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA-V2.3 ROM.
I was doing a fresh Install with Task29, Repartition and so on, everything runs fine after fresh install, but when I reboot the phone it stocks in the Bootanimation.
My partitions are 180MB System and 5MB Cache, I'm using cLK and my SD Card got two partitions, the first is ~14GB Fat32 and the second is 1GB EXT3.
I was not able to post this in the Thread of the ROM, why ever, not enough posts or something.
Hope anyone can help me, thanks
Greetz Nobbes
PS: sorry for my bad english
Your SD Card was formatted and repartitioned with CWM? And after repartition you don`t format it with different tool?
Remember that first boot could last about 10 minutes.
Any a2sd script?
No I have formattet the sd card with Minitool Partition Wizard Home Edition.
this should work to, I think?
The first boot takes about 5 minutes and everythings seems to be fine, but when I reboot the phone it stocks in the bootanimation.
I have tried to reinstall about 5-6 times from the scratch, but I get the same result when I reboot the phone :-(
No I have no A2SD script yet, but I will use Link2SD when the phone runs well ;-)
Yes, this should work but I also have problem with stucking boot logo/animation when using Minitool Partition Wizard - that`s why I asked. Now I am always using only SD Partition Tool in CWM. So maybe try this...
You can also use larger system partition, let`s say... 200MB (I am using this size). Just for safety. When you will be using Link2SD, there should be no problem.
OK thanks, I will try it with CWM SD Partition Tool this evening when I'm back from work.
Maybe this will help, lets wait and see ;-)
Hi,
it works
Thanks for your hint to try the partition sd card tool from CWM, now the Reboot takes one minute :good:
I will look how it goes, when I install Link2SD tomorrow
but for now it's time for football

Hello Omkar,
Maybe, I don't understand you well. For me, a memory card is... a sdcard. Have you got external and internal sdcard/memory card? what recovery have you used? What tool are you using to know what space is or not free?
The memory card where you flash the ROM has some partitions: /boot, /recovery, /system, /cache, /data, /sdcard, /misc
The system partition could be 1GB (but... I think is too much) and basically contains the entire operating system. The data partition contains the user’s data and the sdcard is not exactly a partition. In terms of usage, this is your storage space.
I'm not sure that you format the entire memory card... I've just read a guide to Android partitions yesterday and other about ClockWorkMod Recovery and how to use it. They are complete and good. I would like to share them with you:

Hello omkar,
I'm sorry, but I'm not using the same phone model than you. If you're following a XDA thread to install cm9, it should be work.
I had a similar problem (it got freeze after flashing). I'm not sure what didn't work of the tutorial that I followed. So I decided to update the cwm recovery version and try with other CM. I followed the steps and I also formated the /system partition to make a "clean" installation of the CM. Finally it worked.
