little history.. My buddy has had this for a few months at his house. One of his cousins purchased it and he had to leave to vietnam before he got the device in the mail. So basically he inherited a new toy. he took it out of the box and had tried to set it up but was stuck on the touch screen alignment screen for about half and hour. He tried a few weeks later and was still stuck and decieded to put it away. Few months later I picked up my htc sprint touch phone, showed it off to him and he brings me the x7501 and tells me its junk. I could try to unlock it or he would split the money to sell it if it was junk. I plugged it in let it fully charge and to my surprise I was past the alignment screen and it was running normal.
Now my problem is I would like to keep it but my touch does everything that I need. The screen is nice but too big for me too carry and enjoy. I would love it just as a unit to keep in my car for gps but I dont know if I can unlock it and use it on a sprint network? Anyone know this or not?
Only used for a few hour works great, pratically brand new box is a little beat up from him storing it in his closet. Has a 4gb minicard that I will include. hit me up at soal79(at)hotmail.com if interested or have questions. From what I see brand new they go for 900 so i think this is a fair price. I wish i could keep it but money is tight and my wife already thinks in spend too much time playing with my touch. thanks.
can not use on the sprint network, the x7501 is GSM phone, sprint is CDMA.
Post pics please.
Got one three weeks ago, new, for 700
Sold it yet?
Maybe try ebay? They seem to be going for around 690 reliably. You might be better off selling the sdhc in a seperate sale. ??? Or maybe bill it in the title of the listing.
I agree with the last post, if there's visible damage, you'll want to post actual pics or you'll get pestered for them.
Even if you don't use it as a phone, it is more of a WM6 UMPC/PDA. The GPS is great with software that doesn't need an "always on" connection, like iGuidance. Surfing is great. I haven't used my (admittedly rather old) laptop since I got mine.
I am curious if you sold it. I am trying to get friends interested in the model.
I know this probably isn't the place for this, but I definitely need a place to vent where people can understand the frustration lol.
Yesterday I accidentally killed my HD2. The story goes as follows
I decided to clean my room and be productive for once, my phone was securely placed on my desk. I moved a glass of lemonade from the desk onto the floor so it would be out of the way so I could clean better.
So I started moving some things around on the desk, and next thing I know I see my HD2 falling like in slow motion. It landed in the glass of lemonade so I quickly fished it out. Both the water damage mark on the phone and battery were gone, so there goes my warranty call, and insurance was out of the question since T-Mobile's insurance only covers 2 insurance claims in a 12 month period regardless of which phone.
I had made a claim in June of 09 on a Sidekick LX I had damaged, and recently in May for losing my HD2. So they dropped me from the insurance making it impossible to make a claim.
So I left the phone out to dry and took the battery, sim, and sd card out it never turned off when it went into the lemonade, but the buttons became stuck on. More specifically the Volume up button became stuck on even if I pressed volume down.
So after letting it dry and blowing out every hole with compressed air it still wouldn't become unstuck, so I tried the one thing I knew would work. Electrical contact cleaner... Bad move on my part, that started to dissolve the plastic parts on the phone thus killing it completely.
Now I have no phone and can't justify spending another $400-$500 on a phone since I just bought that not 3 months ago for $450(I buy all my phones off contract)
I am very angry about what happened although I can only be angry at myself because of it... So anyone have any stories like this they'd like to share?
EDIT: Yay! 100th post!
Man that sucks, I watch over my HD2 like a hawk and have it with me all the time, either that or I will leave it in the middle of a table and far away from the sides.
Also what's this watermark thing you speak of?
Wow chaos, that sux big time, sorry to hear that! (yes, it was kinda painful just to read that!)
The only ray of sunshine I can offer is the fact that it's much easier now (following tmo's father day promo) to find new and near-new HD2's on the open market for less than they were before...in fact, there's at least one member here (atxdrift) who's selling his (only slightly used) one for $350. So, you might be able to find an acceptable one for a bit less than you expected. I know it's not the best answer, but there might be hope for you yet
sounds almost like a modern day comedy slapstick sketch,. , the day just getting worse and worse.
House contents insurance?

I wish I had renters insurance, what's most likely going to happen is I'm going to have to spend a month with a cheap pre-paid phone until I can get the money to buy a new phone.
I have a hard time trying to justify spending another $250-$300 on even a used HD2 since it is still the same phone, so chances are I might be leaving the HD2 community unless I find a really good deal.
I'm gonna hold out until the T-Mobile version of the Galaxy S comes out and give that a shot, so it's going to be a very long month lol. I've always had a smart phone, so it's gonna be weird going without one for a while.
1st try soaking it in clean fresh water then opening it up and drying it out. See if the suger is gewwing up the buttons. As long as no power is on or in the phone it shouldn't damage it. About a new HD2. Don't worry about it. I see them for same 2 weeks old on CL in mint condition for $225 - $250 almost everyday. I always go that route because even if the phone breaks I can still buy another for cheaper then buying it new with insurance. Since you already own the SD card you could proably sell yours for $30 or $40 and get the price under $200. Plus a digi/LCD combo is $150 so you can recover that too. So think about parting it out too. Once you part it all out, sell the sd card, and get a deal on CL your gonna probably make a couple dollars or pay like $50 for a new HD2.
I'm currently selling these two phones on ebay.

If you are interested in either let me know and I can probably give you a discount on the auction if you win it. I can't give it away but I don't mind just covering my costs.
if you always buy your phones out of contract, why not just bite the bullet and renew???
I bought my HD2 this week on ebay for $330 flat, brand new condition and everything included but the SD card (had my own anyway)... I'm sure there are similar deals out there and probably better, a lot of people were disappointed with HD2's software (lol guess they didn't know what Windows Phone was all about) and want to get rid of it for an Android device, so keep an eye out for those deals. Some people really don't know what they've got. Sorry that happened to you, I was really bummed when I dropped my TP2 and the speakerphone jacked up. But I made the call anyway and they replaced it with a brand new one for free, so now I have a new HD2 and a new TouchPro2 as a backup. My suggestion is always try to keep a nice backup so that you're not completely devastated if the inevitable happens... But every time I drop mine or have to pay or make a call I learn a lesson, lol... Take it as a learning experience.
There going for 250 on craigslist
I got mine off CL with a total of 5 hours of use in mint condition. Guy was asking for $300 for phone alone at 2am. I texted him offering a trade and cash and he said cash only. So jokingly I said well if its in mint condition, you have the box, the SD card that still has the transformers on it, the charger, the case, and headphones, I'll give you $250. He texted back 5 minutes later saying "When can we meet?" Turns out the new Iphone was $300 with a new contract and he said he could come up with the extra $50. So I met him and got it and sure enough it was mint with not a spec on it. I bought it and turned out his girlfriend was there selling hers for the same price for another iphone. Unfortunately I didn't have another $250 on me and they sold it an hour later. The fact is the HD2 while being the nicest phone around is just too much phone for many people, they don't understand you have to install apps by cabs, they don't get the 10 years of upgrades and mods we have. So they just want to get some money back out of it and get an iphone or android. Most are listed from $285-$400. But most will take around $250 cash. All the ones you see for $300 keep getting posted over and over, just offer them some cash and they will bite. I would avoid posting offering $250 for one because you will probably have someone with a stolen one or messed up one try to sell you one. Just email each seller with an offer.
I know that I shouldn't laugh, but this reminds me of the time that my buddy used Goof Off to clean a stain on his sink not realizing that it was made of a plasticky material! He cursed himself for mucking up the plastic and then read the warning on the can that we are ALL too familiar with... "Please test product in a discreet location first to make sure that product does not damage XYZ" (<- Obviously paraphrasing)
My friend spilled soda on his crt monitor and it still worked. I can't see why it won't work after you clean it out and dry it. Then again I can't see why the lemonade glass didn't get knocked over.
I want to Sell mine
T mobile version Unlocked
mesg me is someone wants
So, here is a summary of my unprecedented level of fail:
In June 2010 I bought a used HD2 off a cell phone kiosk employee. Excellent condition, awesome phone, I loved it. It was my phone, my computer, my media player in the car, and data acquisition for my race car. Then I dropped it in the garage and the glass shattered. After a couple months, I bought a replacement touchscreen, then realized I didn't have the means to repair it myself. I sent it to CellularDR, where I was charged $59 (double labor) because I provided my own parts, only to have them say the touchscreen didn't work, and mailed it back to me in pieces. I replaced it with a G2 (not as good of a phone as I needed WinMo for data aq, but HSPA+ is amazing), while it sat there until I bought a combined LCD/touchscreen. I disassembled it and put in the new screen, but never glued it down.
I couldn't get it to power on (which I later discovered because the power ribbon tore), but gave it to a friend to sell if he repaired it. He got it going, installed a Gingerbread ROM, and loved it, but chose not to keep it because the volume ribbon was torn too.
I have no use for this phone, and I don't want to put any more money into it, so I have to ask what something like this is worth?
I just sold mine for $106 on ebay, touchscreen didn't work although I had replaced it along with the LCD and the 5 buttons didn't work.
Is it just me getting lucky that I bought an almost new hd2 (come w/ receipt, 2 months old), scratch-free, everything in the box for $150? Because every time I go on ebay or craiglist, they cost $250+

Has anyone had any problems with their refurbished EVOs? So far I've had 4 in the last week and a half, and I have to go back again tomorrow for what I'm going to assume will be my 5th. The power button on my EVO broke, they sent me a refurb. That one had a broken charging port when I got it, another refurb. That one did nothing but a constant boot loop, another refurb. This one came to me with a blown earpiece speaker and an overheating problem that causes the phone to reboot.
I'm sick of spending my family dinner time every day at the Sprint store. Can I be the only one who is having these problems? It seems to me that whoever refurbishes these phones for Sprint has absolutely no quality control department whatsoever. Another (what I consider to be huge) problem is that at one point I was waiting 3 days because the refurb EVOs were on back-order. During that time I had to steal the extra phone on my account back from my mom.
I guess I really can't do much about any of this, but I did write a letter in the hopes that someone will give a damn about just how horrible these refurbished phones are when they reach the consumer. I don't have high hopes though.
It reminds me of the time I drove from Sprint store to Sprint store trying to find a replacement Treo years ago. I hit 5 different stores before I finally got one that wasn't a damaged refurb.
That's the end of my rant. If you're bored enough to have read this far... well, that sucks.
I had my launch day Evo replaced due to the broken power button issue with a refurbished unit. It has worked flawlessly since I got it about 3 weeks ago. It is hardware version 0004.
I had a similar problem to yours. The 3g radio went out on my 31 day old evo, back when i got mine on launch day. Even though I was 1 day over the 30 day exchange policy, they refused to give me a new one. I went through 6 refurbs before they finally decided to give me a new one. Each one was ridiculously bad. One wouldn't turn on. One had a bad charging and hdmi port. One had a whole section of the screen that didn't work. And the worst one, when I got it out of the box, the screen was literally in two pieces. The entire glass part was not glued to the actual phone. I immediately took it back to the store that ordered it for me, and they refused to replace it, saying that I was the one who broke it, even though I didn't even activate it yet. I had to fight with Account Services and customer support for over 2 weeks to get them to finally get me a new one. Everyone I talked to ASSURED me their refurbs were "completely normal" and "rebuilt to factory specs". I didn't know factory specs included the phone coming in two pieces.
On a side note, my girlfriend went through the same thing with Verizon with her old phone last year. It was a touch screen phone, she went through 5 refurbs until they decided to get here a new one. Same thing, every one was so bad. Three of them, the touch screen didnt work at all. One the vibrate didn't work. One would not connect to the internet. And they said the same thing, "all our refurbs are completely tested to work just like a new unit". Yeah right.
That is pretty interesting, pretty crappy of Sprint to do that to you.
However, from my experiences they have some sort of a 3 refurb rule, or it may be 4 and then they are supposed to give you a new phone. I am not sure that this is still a policy but I know I have fallen back on it a few times. Do some digging and see if you can confirm that it still is or bring it up to them at the store. If they **** you around call retention and let them know your fed up and I am more than positive they will take care of you.
Went through 2 myself in the past two weeks and when the third one came in the same way, the rep game me a NIB 004. Guess it all depends on who you speak with and how their day is going! The issue on all of these was the 'sunspot', as I call it. Had my first evo screen replaced 4 months in last year for the same thing. Good Luck!
i just got a refurb last week. i waited over a week cause they were on back order. first thing i did was root it and load cm7 on it. no problems so far.
when i had to get a refurbed moment last year it was a different story though.
My update... Sprint replaced the blown speaker. Had to go back again today because the phone kept overheating and rebooting. A nice technician named Sandi gave me a new EVO. It came with gingerbread, so no root for me. But I am so glad to be through with the broken refurbs. If I had gotten one more broken phone I think I would have had to ditch Sprint. I'm honestly very relieved.

Anyone having any problem getting refurb replacements? Backordered wise?
Seems to me like you would have saved yourself a lot of headaches if you just checked the phone before you left the store. Everytime I get a phone from Sprint, I go sit in my car for a few minutes and make sure everything is working. It's better than driving all the way home and realizing my phone is broken later. Plus if you come back in right after they give you the phone, and show them the problem, they wont be able to say that it's something you did.

So about a month ago my faithful of 2 years Note 5 went completely blank. Tech says it is alive and powers up, but the screen was dead. ? I survived the time with an old LG G2 that we keep around for just just incidents.
Repair cost by the carrier was $225 if the screen was the only issue. So I patiently spent time on the internet looking for a replacement. I really like the Note 8, but I am NOT doing that phone lease plan thing and too expensive to buy outright. Well I finally found a like new replacement that claims to only have been used for a month or so by the previous owner Just finished a two hour setup session. ??
Having spent several weeks with the LG G2 can I just say the Note 5 is an amazing phone even two years on now, glad to have you back. Was not planning on having to spend $$$ on a phone for Christmas, but such is life.
