Samsung Galaxy 10.1 android icons? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

Hi all, can someone please clarify something for me, as ive got a little confused over the icons that actually appear in the bottom left corner of the tablet.
Are they the new style blue icons, or do they actually look like the white ones found on HTC Desire S. sorry new poster so i cant post links :/
Also does the browser support text reflow?
Have ordered mine last night from Amazon UK so shud have it tom
tia

Depends. If it gets release with TouchWiz they look like that http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/08/gallgalaxy-tab-101-refresh-3800.jpg , if not they are the blue stock honeycomb ones.

Thanks. I see the USA just got TouchWiz update, any idea on when UK will be getting this also?

The UK units come with TW preinstalled, but Samsung confirmed TW update 5th Aug will be available in the UK too.

Yes the white icons are the TouchWiz style. Blue is the Non-Touchwiz stock rom.

I have a Galaxy SII LTE from SK Telecom

Hello,
i just wanted to let you know that we started to receive Galaxy SII LTE from SK Telecom in our shop in Seoul. If anyone have any questions i can answer...
First things i noticed:
1)It comes with 2.3.5
2)The wifi configuration page has been completely redesigned
3)blu glowing effect in almost every component including the browser
4)The back of the phone has a nice brushed metal look (but still plastic)
5)Screen is amazing
We should receive 5/6 of these everyday so if you are interested in having one shipped drop me a private message.
Cheers
Sergio

No problem if you can list all questions, tomorrow i will try to answer, together with pictures, as soon as we open the shop and i can play a bit with the device
Congratulations .!! Enjoy
Awesome! Wonder when it will be available in Australia.
how about a dump or at least the dialer apk?
I'd love to replace the dialer with a real US English version.
Now I feel like trading in my S2 for it, wonder if my carrier will let me. =\
Yes some photos and a video review would be very good for the community on here, i am assuming these phones will be compatible / will work in Europe and elsewhere, and last but not least what price would we be talking about.
EDIT - Will you also be taking stock of Galaxy SII LTE HD
Radio bands
which frequency do they support?
and if you have time, a FULL tech spec would be nice
thanks

Hey Guys.

What's your opinion?
I'm wondering whats that all about too. Maybe its Korea only?

Well, i think the article is about the icons more than the firmware updates. Looks like they will put icons on 3 rows cause of Apple lawsuits.
Maybe it Would be a good way to pull me back to stock rom lol.
Still, it looks strange o.o
I thought it was for OAP`s with such large icons.
I don't like it! I like 4 icons and not 3 and i like my icons the way they are. I don't want them bigger...smaller maybe but definetly not bigger...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
I saw it earlier today. It's totally stupid.
Make it 5 a row instead. 3 is just insane, makes it look like a cheap toy or an outdated navigation system or something.
I'm happily running MIUI.
that looks retarded.
5 icons are better than 3
I will be sticking with a ROM that has the icons we have now no matter how good the new update is.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I guess they are doing this 3x3 menu because of that apple patent lawsuit. Sammy should hire some good photoshop pro in their touchwiz crew instead doing such crappy thing

I don't think you guys are getting it. They are not making all the icons bigger or changing the layout, what I understand is that they will be making it an option to have bigger icons if you want... BIG HOME.

This I understand me too: you have the option that you put 3 bigger icons instead 4 in home screen.
Finally found the original press release but google translate isn't working so well on it.
http://www.samsung.com/sec/news/newsRead.do?news_seq=29336&gltype=localnews
From that press release it seems obvious that the magnified icons and apps are a feature (mostly for older people), and not the new default.
This is a great ideia, btw. The SG2 lacked in accessibility options such as this.

Just installed 4.0.3 but still looks the same as gingerbead??

I've just installed the ics ROM from Craver UK site. They have a link to download the very latest ROM from the nexus phones. I was expecting the black and blue theme that I've using in CM9. Can anyone help or is this correct?
Not sure what you're expecting here. Samsung does not follow the stock ICS mentality, they will always add Touchwiz on top of Android. If it looks IDENTICAL to Gingerbread, then you didn't flash the right ROM... There are SOME differences between Samsung ICS and Samsung Gingerbread.
and also, this could have easily been posted in one of the multiple pre-existing threads for ICS.
+ any Samsung ICS roms in the wild are only leaked beta test roms .
jje
The black and blue theme is unique to CM roms, it's not a standard on pure ICS or Samsung ICS Most of the look and feel of the Samsung ICS roms are the same as gingerbread
However if you look at the settings it's clearly different from gingerbread roms
Thanks for your comments, I've decided to use Resurrection Remix one instead and its defiantly allot better more stable.
Thanks again.
Should of stuck with cm9, all samsung roms will look like the current gingerbread ones.
lol... i bought a samsung galaxy s2, but it still looks like samsung galaxy s2... y doesnt it look like galaxy nexus?
If all you care about is the looks, then just simply change your theme and call it a day.
ICS is different to GB. Is it better ? Well that remains to be seen.

If you decompile the systemui.apk, in the bools XML I believe there's a part that says use touchwiz UI and it's set to "true". I wonder if this can be changed to false so our phones will use the standard ics interface. I just can't figure out how to recompile it without it force closing... lol

I doubt it's that easy. But hey, who knows! Only problem is they won't package Trebuchet with Touchwiz...
Just install Nova/Trebuchet launcher if you want it to "look" more like ICS. Nova is awesome.

Thats a Google requirement for ICS. It's theme i.e color schemes etc nothing much to do with UI/Menus. Samsung can tweak UI all they want as long as they also bundle the Halo theme along with theirs.
It's been done so apps look same across devices. You won't be able to change some setting and get AOSP look.

Further info:
As an app developer you can choose between "DeviceDefault"-Theme and "Holo"-Theme. So it is up to the developers...BUT the app needs to be for 4.0 if it is for 2.3 the Holo settings meight confuse you phone, this means that the most developers will NEED to use the "DeviceDefault" cause that is what Gingerbread can also handle.
Samsung's Gingerbread didn't look at all like Google's Gingerbread, so I don't understand why people expect ICS to be any different...

I have no doubt that ICS is better than GB period. The issue is how much will they screw it up trying to bring it across to the sgs2.

I'd love to have the white too.
I would like to have the white dialer too
Guys, Can someone can look who is having white theme
Why do you want white background? It is bad for the battery and the Super AMOLED screen!
Decompile apps/framework and point to "Theme.DeviceDefault.Light" instead of "Theme.DeviceDefault"
Idk if its still called the same but, adding ".Light" usually works. You'll know which one is TouchWiz since Google's UI is called "Holo"

Xperia Tablet Z 4.2 Screenshots!!!

Apologies if this has already been posted somewhere, but as I was updating my Xperia Link app on the play store, I noticed it has screenshots which had the notification bar moves to the top and the three main home, back and open apps buttons moved to the centre of the bottom bar like a nexus 10.
So it seems Sony will be changing it to match the Nexus tablet line UI for the forthcoming update.
Nice find!
Hopefully the update comes soon.

is that what 4.2 will really look like?
im not a hater or anything but to be honest i dont like it, i guess i need to stick the current appearance if that so...
plus i agree with the person above me.. the shortcut for small apps and remote is gone...
anyway, its not really out yet and i hope that kind of appearance is for phones
i just remember that i think xperia z tab will not go for 4.2 cause it will jump to 4.3, IM NOT SURE

the image is clearly photoshopped. look at the status bar - the bluetooth and wifi icons are off centered and much too big, same with the battery percentage. also the apps look like they are copied in, they are much too close to the navigation bar. this is clearly a fake screenshot.
let´s see what the real 4.2 update will bring us i would appreciate the switch to the new tablet ui from 4.2. it´s so much more intuitive and needed for 4.2 because where would the quicksettings go without it?

I don't think Sony will switch to a phablet ui. It would confuse their 'normal' consumer base (excluding people here). And companies always assume users are idiots, so i'm pretty sure we'll still have the tablet ui
Sony is trying to keep the core framework and such as close as possible to stock Android. I also don't like this new UI, but I'm sure as soon as we have the 4.2 system deodexed, mods to bring the old Tablet UI will be back...

It might be photo shopped, but it is from official screenshots from a Sony tablet app on Google Play, so we have to assume it is the new UI. Like you though, I guess we'll have to see
Nothing surprise if Sony switch to this Phablet look as Android officially kill off the Tablet UI since Jelly Bean 4.2.2
I do hope Sony keep the tablet UI even on 4.2.2 or 4.3 in future, I not really fancy on Phablet UI on Tablet due to it just smaller more the screen usage due to Status Bar and Navigation Bar get separate.
Sorry, but:
If this ends up being the case someone will need to port PA to this device. I do not want to give up more screen for the notification bar up top.

I've seen PAC-Man but not PA, PAC has the PA per-app DPI changer so its pretty much PA with a bunch more goodies from CM and AOKP.
The only problem is, unless it has been fixed in the past 2 or 3 days, that the ROMs don't have WiFi working on the WiFi only XTZ. A lot of people, myself included, chose the WiFi only XTZ because we didn't need the cellular connectivity and because it was quite a bit cheaper. The entire reason a lot of people haven't unlocked their bootloader is because there is simply no reason to at the current moment because the ROMs haven't progressed far enough, no fault of the hard working devs, for them to be completely functional or have even all the core functions.

I have never seen how that's implemented, I have never had the chance to use a Sony android phone. My carrier, Verizon, doesn't carry them, I believe the last one that Big Red had was the Xperia Play. Hopefully Big Red will bring the Xperia Z Ultra, I would gladly give up my Note 2 and pay full retail price, to keep my unlimited plan, for it!
Anyway, I got off topic for a bit.... Would you mind explaining how the Small Apps being in the Recent Apps works?
