Why is it that when we bench Android HD2 vs other phones, our scores come out superior or near superior?
I've seen scores that have reached hundreds ahead the nexus one froyo (OC and Not)
I mean, we are using builds off the SD card.
Does that mean, if we get NAND support, android on our HD2 will be absolutely blazing fast?
Or does it mean that our quadrant scores are all wrong considering that we can only run android off SD?
I've been wanting to know this myself. I hit 1900 on quadrant yesterday and 44.6 mflops on linpack. Am I supposed to believe that my HD2 can absolutely murder a stock nexus one on froyo while running a work-in-progress android build off an SD card?
With what rom/android build combo did you get 1900? I don't get higher than 1550. Shubcraft 1.4d r8 kernel with energy basic rom.
12.50 radio iirc.

Energy Dinik glass winmo rom
Shubcraft 1.4d with R8 running at 1.19 Ghz
Radio 2.10.50.26
I don't consistently get 1900 though. I get anywhere from 1600-1900ish.
Try settings setcpu to performance mode and push to 1190 Mhz if you can and close all your apps. You should be able to get the same. Some other users here know some additional tweaks and they are able to break 1900 even without overclocking so high.
Managed to get to 1657 already with the performance mode on. Curious about those tweaks. Isnt there a tool like the bsb tweaks for winmo?

Got the highest Quadrant score yet running Energy Standard Aug. 18 ROM and mattc LeoNexus with TouchWiz: 1527 - I haven't installed setCPU either.

exactly but not so brash
It's because we're comparing against stock benchmarks.
The vibrant should be benchmarking best if it's running froyo and overclocked I think.
The only reason nexus one scores high is that froyo does a wayyyy better job of utilizing the cpu.
From what I understand, the motorola and hummingbird samsung processors actually have better gpus so they would bench better with froyo.
Just remember, we're overclocking Running custom builds, stock is always gonna be slower.

We get the scores we do due to the I/O performance being off down to running off the SD card.
This my setup running like for like against a Nexus One, as you can see we're almost identical in all departments except the I/O Performance.
See Screenshot.

Uh. Bigger bars = better, right? If so, that screenshot says the I/O on your HD2 is better than every phone listed there except for the Droid X. How can that be?
Those are all stock comparations.
My brother just got a Samsung Galaxy s i9000 and we bechmark it and it gave us only around 800 after a root is device and installed the samsung lag fix it went straight to 2200+ still running the stock rom thats 3x faster then it was before the system was touched with any fixes.
So i say if you score around 1000+ running from a SD card with out overclock on the HD2 its pretty good and reaching 1400+ thats even great. In what i can see is if we get android running from or NAND we can easy reach 2200+.
So when you comparing the benchmarks its only comparing with the stock you can expect too double the stock benchmarks if not triple it too see how you device realy compare too others .
Why does the droid x have such high I/O scores?
Installed a fresh mattc LeoNexus using only the stock launcher. I installed setCPU and adjusted settings according to the ones from starbase64 here

Hey guys I was wondering, how do you guys get such high linpack scores! my hd2 is running hyperdroidcm7 version1.0.4 and i have my device's cpu oc'd to 1.19...... ghz and the best the thing can do on linpack is 44.something mflops and on pongsters thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769026 , he shows a score of 52.051 mflops and how the F! ive tweaked and tweaked and the darn thing wont climb to 45 mflops ( which is still pretty damn decent considering the clock speed) Just wondered if anyone can help thanks!
Anybody?

I run both builds testing and always get around 40-45. You can get 50 but you won't notice a difference at all. Try using a kernel that supports 1.5mhz oc. Antutu benchmark is a much better indicator of overall system performance.

What is the best rom/firmware for gaming ?
In the ICS roms its reboot a loot.

Stock gingerbread with DooMKerneL. Remove bloatware apps and stop excess services. Can't get a better gaming experience than that (though some say V6 supercharger helps)
Can someone give me the links ?
What gingerbread ?

Stock is defintely what you want for gaming alright. I'd go with a stock based ROM so that most of the bloat is removed for you and not weighing down your device.
Something like JokaWild.
EDIT: by the sounds of it, you are going to have to do some research. Start by looking into flashtool.
Just noticed my above comment may have sounded condescending. It wasn't meant to be. Since you have flashed ICS successfully, I imagine you know how to flash a stock ROM.
From my experience Jokawild was the best gingerbread rom for gaming

What about for a R800x?
I have tried several different ROMS and not that these other ROMs are not awesome in their own right. But I always come back to my nandroid of stock Android 2.3.3
I rooted, then deleted all bloat in the system folder, and all the other apps that can be reinstalled to SDcard, map, talk, gmail, etc. I have around 180mb of free space according to my system/apps folder. I then used V6 Supercharger and set everything to aggressive with Nitro Lag. Now my phone is super speedy. I have no lag anywhere, all games play buttery smooth including GL games. I also am using DoomKernel by DoomLord and No Frills set to Performance, CFQ at 1.2ghz (dont like to OC too much just a tiny little bump)
And I also have a Sandisk Mobile Ultra 32GB HC-I MicroSD card. Was using a class 4 sandisk proir an this card was on sale on a camera site for $30, figured why not and got it, saw a difference with GL games as well, before they were smooth with an occasional slight stutter but now its all good.
Just found it, its $3 more then what I paid but still a great price and this card is awesome.

So, I'm using an ICS rom with the new Adreno drivers, and I get better performance on Fifa 12 then I got with Gingerbread. Is there a way to install the new Adreno drivers on Gingerbread?
I have tried most to all the roms as well and I will say I got the best gaming performance with the stock 2.3.3 rom (bloatware free) with doom's kernel. This had not only the best performance but also worked with most to all games.
I would of put 2.3.4 but gmail and google voice still wont auto sync. Once verizon decides to wake up then jump to 2.3.4. Hope this helps.
You will need to use flash tool (thread) to do all your kernel and FTF flashing.
Flash this: 2.3.3 FTF
Flash this: DoomKernel + Wifi modules (thread)
Boot up like normal and go through the setup. After that install titanium backup and start ripping out all that Verizon junk.
Install SetCPU and find your overclock sweet spot. Dont forget to set a profile to underclock you phone for when your batteries low. (I found that smartassV2 scaling gave me the best performance/battery life with a 1.6 Ghz overclock.)
This is for a r800x (Verizon)
That's pretty much what I did. I have the stock overclocked kernel, which isn't overclocked, but SetCPU is set to overclock to 1.6Ghz when any of my games are running.
Thread Closed, Thank You.
I have a question mainly for developpers.
Playing around with severals ICS CM9 ROMS, I noticed big differences in Antutu RAM benchmark score.
A first family of ROM reach 330 in RAM score (CM9 nightlies, ...)
A second family of ROM reach 530 in RAM score (CM9ight,iCyanogen).
This is a huge difference.
I've done some tests, and the difference don't come from kernel, from build.prop, from framework.
So the question is : from what does it come ?... some libs ?...
Thank you to developpers that read me ... any ideas ???
As a user and not developer, there is no problem with consuming more RAM.... as long as the Rom... is ruining smooth and fast...
Jelly bean uses even more RAM than ICS

Hi everyone I am currently running the NXT LE rom v1.3. I have tried various other roms but I find that this is the best one so far. Can you guys compare various roms and see which is better for gaming and performance, Jelly Bean (with new adreno drivers) or Gingerbread. Thanks
Every one list:
Kernel
Rom
Take Antutu Benchmark of your rom
from my experience, gingerbread is still the best android version for the xperia play
NXT LE with gin2jb theme,
Latest doomlord gb kernel
At 1017 Mhz
Score: 4288
Thinks too that a modified gingerbread is still the best choice for my Play. I saw that some guys got a bit higher Benchmark score on JellyBean but that doesn't mean that it is better for gaming. I really wish that more devs would pay more attention to GB.
Doomkernel v.14
DiXperia2
Antutu B. 6161 @ 1.8 Ghz.
Um........good point. But people are saying that with the new Adreno drivers that ICS and JB for gaming are better than GB. I only use my xperia play for gaming, so I have been looking for a rom designed for gaming, so far the best is NXT Light in my opinion. If anyone finds other please post

Come now, let's not keep talking about 'I think that, I think this'.
Let's start showing from numbers from Nenamark 2, since it's purely gaming you guys want. When you're done, just delete/wtv.
Let us start with a few ground rules:
1.0GHz Performance governer ONLY.
I/O schedule = whatever since it shouldn't matter much.
State whether you're using GB/JB.
Here's mine.
[JB]
1st run : 30.7 fps
2nd run : 31.4 fps
3rd run : 31.4 fps
4th run : 31.8 fps
5th run : 31.5 fps
ROM: SlimBean by cj360
Antutu
--1Ghz
Total : 5005
2D : 522
3D : 1950
--1.8Ghz (to align with above post clock)
Total : 6330
2D : 538
3D : 1959
I have a locked bootloader so no fancy kernels or overclocking, but I'm sure it could serve as a base to compare performance.
Nenamark 2 [GB]
First run: 14.0 fps
Second run: 13.6 fps
Third run: 14.0 fps
Fourth run: 14.2 fps
Fifth run: 14.1 fps
ROM: Xperia NXT Light Edition by Kris Dee v.1.3
Newest Adreno drivers for ICS/JB makes a huge difference albeit the RAM consumption is higher.

WOW!!!! Your scores are much higher than mine and "aitmanga"'s scores. So I guess JB is much better for gaming, right?
Now I'm quite skeptical about that methodology. x2 more fps? I don't think so.
Anyone have any other idea on test methods? Antutu and quadrant scores aren't really useful unless you state the graphics score breakdown.
Edit: updated previous post with antutu for what it's worth.
I installed the SlimBean rom and tried Gta 3, it is no where as smooth as the nxt light rom ive been using, but the benchmark is like 29!!! Which is more than double my score on nxt light, but in real life performance JB is not as good as GB!! Even though the benchmarks show that it is

Well, some games are bottlenecked by the GPU and others by the CPU. There's no general rule like 'if one game doubles its framerate, every game should be the same' so GTA3 can be CPU limited.
Probably Nenamark is very GPU intensive and a optimized GPU driver can do wonders but each game has its own CPU-GPU balance.

I would have agreed wih u and up unill i came across jb slim I thought that nxt light was the best jb slim bean it the only rom which is really come near to perfection the only downfall is that u cannot record but u can use the camera to take pictures via app from play store for free. and all the other features work to perfection u can overclock to 1.6ghz to play certain games which are too slow to play 4 exmple modern combact 4. also u can download games from google play store for free which arent even supose to be working on xperia play like shadow gun dead zone and all this is not even he best part when u flash it normally u get atleast 550mb internall free well thats becasue how small the actual rom it self is also this is the least laggyiest rom plus if u like to listen to music then it has apollo music player bonus points so despite the loss of the recording feature it overall makes up in compare to every other feature. :good: if u are inerested i personally tested it on xperia play r800i alos thishas been tested on r800x the link to this is if u are intersed that is :fingers-crossed::highfive:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35493383
for gaming i recomend - Jellyzeus (JB) or CM9.1 (ICS) - both can run GTA VC really smoth on low settings (25%distance / 50%textures, all other low or off) ...
if you buy xperia play for hard gaming, i recomend - NXT Light Ed. - its best...
but if you play games like wheres my water / angry birds, and want JB, its a good choice...
