[Q] Webbrowser security settings error - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi,
recently I have changed three ROM on my Blackstone (all with wm6.5) and I always had this problem: when I try to use my app (Supergames mobile) and tap on one game I see two alert with the same message:
"Some content cannot be displayed due to the Pocket PC security settings."
and no game will be open.
I tried to remove code related to flash and javascript from my app and no alert wil be show (obviously no game start) so I think that there will be a security settings that blocks flash and javascript on CF.net webbrowser control.
Can you help me to find and modify that security settings?
Thank you!
PS: I have developed my app on HTC Blackstone (with WM6.1 original ROM) and tested it on some other device and emulator (WM6.1 and WM6.5) with no problem (until now...).

perhaps this helps you

Thank you malatest for your answer but I have the same messages also after install your Cab (I've also tried a soft reset after installation)
I have made some test with my app to localize where is the problem and I think that the problem is related to .NET Compact Framework within the ROMs I have flashed on my Blackstone.
The CF version installed on these ROMs (v3.5.9198.0) is the same I have used for develop my app and test on my device and emulator (WM6.1 and WM6.5) but if I try a simple app with only one method call such, for example, "webbrowser.navigate" it don't fires (while obviously it fires on emulator and other ROM with CF installed out of ROM).
I tried to reinstall without success because I get the message that the version is already installed so as I have not found information on how remove CF cooked within a ROM, I have made a new version of my app for CF 2.0 sp2 (v2.0.7045.0) and with NetCFCfg I have imposed the application to start with it: security messages no longer occur!
At this point someone has any idea what could be the problem with cooked Compact Framework? (or how to reinstall them?)

[ROM] [HP iPAQ 900c] [WWE] BR WM6.5 (21820) newer build!

I couldn't wait until July to release this... new build of WM6.5 that fixes the keyboard issue (but the SYM key still works, which was disabled by Montecristo's registry patch) and the device.exe issue (according to keyx's A2DP instructions)...
WM6.5 build 21820 for the iPAQ 910c/912c/914c Business Messenger:
21820br0609 download here
Known bugs/fixes:
- Right softkey on "Clock" homescreen panel requires this fix by EREZYAD (thanks!)
- I accidentally cooked .NET CF 2.0 into this ROM instead of 3.5. You can still run version 3.5 using these instructions.
This ROM features HP's newest firmware base, meaning increased max volume and other fixes. I have removed the following OEM junk:
- Cyberon Voice Commander
- iPAQ Tips, Help & Support
- HP Photosmart Mobile (and screensaver)
- Snapfish uploader
- HP custom IE homepage
- HP Today theme (and other customizations)
- Google Maps (old)
- Goolge Search (old)
- iPAQ DataConnect
(...since the new WM6.5 AutoConnect feature does the same thing)
This ROM contains the following little additions:
- NumBattery
- GPS Viewer
- Backlight Controller 0.9.5.2
Once I get around to making some new OEM packages for my favourite freeware apps, I'll bundle those in the "m" series next month:
WM6.1 21042br0709m "motherload" - pending
WM6.5 21820br0709m "motherload" - pending
INSTRUCTIONS FOR FLASHING:
1. Get a microSD card sized 2 GB or lower (SDHC won't work) and format it with regular FAT filesystem. Copy my FLASH.DIO to the root of the card. Insert card into your device.
2. Put your device into SDLoader mode by holding VOLUP+OK(button on right side) and pressing RESET. Make sure your battery has a decent charge (over 50%) and isn't connected to any USB charge or sync cable (or else your device will just go into RUU mode).
3. Watch the magic... SDLoader will check the file integrity, flash to your device ROM, do a clean reboot (can take a minute longer than usual) and then go into the "Welcome to Windows Mobile, tap here to continue" stuff.
4. If you run into any problems, repeat steps 1 through 3 with a FLASH.DIO that has worked before (i.e. you can make one from HP factory ROM update using Paloma's instructions posted here)

It works like a charm! No bug at all till now! Fast and Stable! Just the Clauncher doesn't work, but maybe it's my problem!
The issue with the keyboard is fixed! Great Job
This would seem to confirm that despite what HP says, the "Rogers 910c only" OEM files are compatible with the 912c and 914c.

You can't dump the whole thing because I used keyx flex kitchen; there are too many files to use the old (dumpable) method.
However, you can extract the xip from my FLASH.DIO using this command:
osnbtool -d FLASH.DIO 1 xip.bin
Then xip.bin is your xip; you'll want to insert that into an original 80 MB TEMPLATE.ROM (i.e. whatever you've been using to cook so far) using
osnbtool -c TEMPLATE.ROM 1 xip.bin
Then delete your previous TEMPLATE.ROM and rename TEMPLATE.ROM.NEW to drop the ".NEW" part.

RE: Opera Mini... it works for me on this ROM.
RE: Your app with SMS... try disabling the on-screen message for new text message in Sounds and Notifications control panel.
The difference with this ROM is that it is a new build. Mainly that fixes the keyboard issue, which was in the OS.

Are you working on a multilanguage version?
Which .net Framework is included in this ROM? If you run "Device update" by CRC (Excellent app!), it complains that the .net CF is too old. Never happened to me before....

Oh weird - I just looked and it is NetCF 2.0 (what????) which I guess was put in by my SYS source at ppcgeeks. I'll stick NetCF 3.5 in the July release, promise. For now, download and install the .Net CF 3.5 redistributable from Microsoft.

Dude, the Record button works just fine for me. Are you talking about hitting it once? That shows up as the VoiceCMD button in the Buttons control panel - it comes unassigned, but you can point it to the Backlight control (my personal favourite) or Voice Command or whatever.
The "Record" button requires you to press and hold down the button while you record a voice note.

Install Failure (any cabs) due to "not digitally signed"

Hi Guys!
I'm using SuperMario Lite ROM (June 3) in order to test some usefull sw in my Blackstone in a system clearest as possible. I had tested many apps w/o problems and others that doesn't work or crash ..with consequent HS. Btw this is the first time i have found this problem and before doing the umpteenth "ROM sand-paper" should be intersting to find some solution in the reasonable future situation in which hard reset costs much more consequences.
The problem: I've tested JZ SmarMort v1.5 which has subsequently installed MortScript v4.2. Everything went well until I have decided to uninstall them. I have unistalled (in the order) JZ SmartMort and then MortScripts, btw beeing JZ SmartMort not uninstalling normally I have used (as suggested from SmartSmort) SDK Tools to unistall it completely. Than I have done a soft reset and now..???!
Any software I try to install gives the same result: "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate." :O
I searched here in the forum but i haven't found solution yet.. anyway these are been my unfruitful attempts:
- Install SDK Certs --> same installation unsuccessful message as for any other progs
- Install Cert_SPCS --> see above
- Install Default Signed DisabledSecurity --> see above
- Install HD Tweak --> see above
- Change/Add:
[HKLM]\Polices\Polices 000010a DWORD: 1 (decimal)
--> nothing changes
I'd like to know Your opinions and suggestions.. anyone who knows how to solve this?
Waitin' for your replay.

Hi FileFixer!
Has said in my previous post I've just tried to install SDKCerts.cab taken from here but not solved the problem. In fact, as for any cabs I try to install, I have the same results: "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate." and then doesn't install.
Anyway THANK YOU very much for your interest and reply.

Software Install "unsuccessful" Errors

Okay, I've been playing with my new Rhodium quite a bit-- and I keep encountering a number of "Installation of ____ was unsuccessful" errors when installing various programs that worked on my original AT&T Tilt.
The perfect example was just now when I tried to install "Resco Explorer 2008 Trial" from the cab file off their website. I've also encountered this type of error when installing total commander and a number of others on skyler17's "Software worth installing on the TP2" post. I've hard re-set a number of times with the same results. Yet, only a few others like Skype & Swype install just fine.
Are the errors a publisher certificate issue with WinMo 6.5?
Any ideas of how to work around these errors?
My current device info--
Phone: AT&T Tilt 2 (HTC Rhodium)
ROM: Stock, AT&T 1.59.502.5 (67150) (9/25/09)
Radio: 4.48.25.50
Thank you for your help!
Note: The only "advance" thing I've done is flash the "Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3_185HSPL", but I'm still running the stock AT&T Rom. (The stall in me flashing a new ROM is mainly b/c I'm having trouble finding a full stock AT&T copy to re-flash in case I don't care for some of the cooked ROMs-- but that's another issue...).
Okay, how about this-- Is anyone else have these issues or is it just my device?
I'm having it but only on one application I am trying to install.
It states that it doesn't have authorised permissions or something like that. All the other apps can be installed normally though.

I have the AT&T Tilt 2
stock ROM 1.59.502.3 (67150) WWE 09/25/09
Radio 4.48.25.20
Have applied the same "Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3_185HSPL" without issue, and also have not yet changed up my ROM. I have tweaked the TF3D though.. applied Co0kieMonster's HQ wallpaper patch and using HDWall. Installed (removed, installed, etc) numerous applications without incident other than a warning the cab's are unsigned, they let me install and work just fine, though.
.
Okay-- I figured it out.
The software installations issues were from an older Microsoft .NET Compact Framework (v2.0.7045.00) that the AT&T Tilt2 comes with.
Why the Tilt 2 is not shipped with the newer MS .NET Compact Framework (v3.5.7283.00) is beyond me. The real challenge was getting the new .NET to fully install & run properly. After a bunch of reading-- here is the proper way to get it to work.
To install Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 3.5 on your device:
1. Download .NET Compact Framework 3.5 from Microsoft
2. Run the downloaded MSI file and let it install.
3. Connect your device to Activesync/Windows Mobile Device Center and finish the automatically launched installation on your device.
4. Soft reset your device. (this is a must)
5. Open a Registry editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\.NETCompactFramework where you will see two entries for the (now two) existing version references: the old one, which came with your device and the new one you just installed.
6. Change the DWord value of 3.5.7283.00 from 0 to 1 (thus enabling it) and all the other values (i.e.: 2.0.7045.00) from 1 to 0 (thus disabling it/them).
7. Soft reset your device.
8. Congratulations! You have upgraded to .NET Compact Framework 3.5.
Thank you pocketnow.com for the guide.
Advanced Configuration Tool v3.3 now runs as well as all my other software I was having trouble installing/running.
Here is the Registry Editor 0.9 beta I used (free from TouchXperience.com)
Hopefully this will help other with software installation issues and other users having difficulty installing Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 3.5.

Can't install any progran

Almost any program I installed from this site or others ended up with a messege: "An unexpected error has occurred in [file name]. Select Quit and then restart this program, or select Details for more information."
I would realy like to know how do I solve this problem.
My phone is running 1.66.405.2 ROM.
First off, can you give us a link to something that you downloaded and you had this problem with?
Secondly, does it install and then not work, or did it not install?
Finally, what does it say when you get the error and click "details"?
your system wont let me send links so here is a list of names of applictions:
-New SimplePiano with Dual-Touch Enabled
-Star Wars Sounds for Windows Mobile
-SRS WOWHD For HD2
-Lock Screen Middle Tweak - this one runs OK.
it happens after installation when I run the program
and the details starts with "[file name].exe platform not supported exception..." and then a list of what looks like paths.
If theres a need I shell copy it all.
Hi,
It could be number of issues....
i) Have you installed sdkcerts.cab (and sdkcerts new .cab)?
ii) Are you installing to your SD card or device?...
- Do you have sufficient space on either
iii) Which version of Windows Mobile are you running?
iv) Have you installed the latest version of .NET?
There could be a long list of relatively small bits and pieces that are preventing you from successfully installing and running these .cabs. I know no one likes to do this, but if I were in your shoes and I was sure that I had installed the above...
I would hard reset and therefore not have to worry about this problem.
I. No I havn't installed sdkcerts.cab. What is it and where do I fined it.
II. I install al of it on my device which now have 19.56 MB free for stoרשעק שמג 165.41MB free for programs.
III. windows mobile 6.5
IV. Same as I.

[Q] Cannot run any .exe file

i tried installing android but it didnt work the haret file wouldnt open and kept getting error message (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11352461#post11352461)
So i tried to flash my rom following this tut
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377
but i was unable to run SPL v 1.56.OliNex, it kept saying error 240 device not responding
so i put the manual touch hd .exe onto my phone
but i get the same error message as when i run haret
the file 'name of .exe program' cannot be opened. either it is not trusted..if the problem persists try reinstalling or restoring the file..
what do i do?
......... any 1?
excatly like the error message says, there can be 2 possible reasons, why it wouldn't open:
1. it is not trusted
2. a component is missing
1. if it is not trusted, try hd tweak and set it to ignore certifications warnings
2. the "component" that is usually missing is .net framework 3.5. many apps come not fully loaded with their own code but are based on certain runtimes, which makes them compatible with more windows mobile versions and keep them clean, but to have those shared libraries and make the phone "understand" this program, you need to install the .net framework.

too bad, i already suspected something like this to happen. to disable certification you'd have to install an uncertified program, vicious circle. what rom are you running? many roms don't have the certificate issue, because by default this is disabled by the rom chefs. another thing that you could try might be the autoinstall feature:
in my rom (cloudy 0.7) there is an autoinstall feature. it consists of a startmenu link AutoInstall, which then disables certain policies (including certification) to install all cabs in the AutoInstall folder on the sd card, kinda like an EXTROM known from older devices. most roms have a user customization (UC) feature built in, please post your rom chef and version or refer to the thread you got the rom from to check for this feature. i hope you already have ms myphone installed or you are able to run pimbackup on your device, because you might have a hardreset coming in your near future, and you should make sure to have backups of all your personal data and only that. using sprite backup, spb backup or resco backup is not recommended, that will not only restore your data, but also the problem, you are having right now.
in case you are running a shipped rom, which would explain, why that annoying certification is there in the first place, chances are slim, that UC will work for you, and if you also don't have ms myphone or are unable to run pimbackup, you should at least try and sync your data with exchange or outlook (however, this will not backup your call logs or sms)
i am still wondering what might have caused your troubles in the first place. did you install android as a cab? if it was the new froyo x build, which comes as portable os, it should be completely wiped, when you delete the folders from the sd card, in case of the earlier cab version, you might want to try uninstalling it. in case you made the error to install it to the internal storage, the hard reset is inevitable.

as mentioned before, your device is pretty screwed up and you best option is to try and backup your personal information and then perform a hard reset and format your sd card (which might have troubles due to the android incident)

switch off the device completely (not just sleep). then while pressing both the volume keys, switch it back on. you should see a white screen with blue font giving you instructions on how to reset the device to factory defaults.
