Every single time I open the contacts app, it comes up with the "My Contacts" menu, giving options to add contacts, which I have already done, and yes I have ticked that freaking don't show again box a million times to no avail, rebooted, etc!
Anybody have a clue how to fix this or know what apk I need to remove on titanium to get rid of this b*stard!
Yes, i got the same problem.I end up doing factory data reset in the settings and set it up again but but do it one time only with the tick, work out fine.

My gmail account stopped pushing my emails to my handset. I thought it might be because of root, but I've reinstalled original soft and no joy. Would it be because of different sim inserted, than the ones registered to send forgotten password?
Plus when I use the online synchronization option on gmail, there is a little exclamation mark in a triangle just for a little less than a second, and no error is displayed.
Any ideas what's wrong?

All of the options are definitely ticked, right? I'm sure you checked this, but I made the mistake of glancing at the Google Mail box and seeing a tick recently, but then wondering why it wasn't pushing. It was because it was just the light grey tick I was looking at, not the proper white one. Make sure everything is ticked in the Data Synchronisation/Google sync menu, and then when you come back out you should have the option to 'Synchronise with Google Mail' too, tick that.
I'm sure you know all this, but just in case...
Yeah, everything is marked. The emails do come, only when I hit refresh in gmail app...

You have to clear the cache for the gmail app and the app datastore, had the exact same problem and found the fix on here, can't mind where though
Will see if I can find clearer instructions for you
found it

Tried this now, still no joy. Could I've messed it up totally?

That link stated that you clear cache only, I cleared the data as well, took that before mine started working.
No cache to clear on my mobile.

So did you clear the data and still no joy?
Nope. Always that exclamation mark still showing on the rotary arrows.

I have a Facebook account in "My Accounts" on my Droid X but it does not have a username. The field is blank. When I select remove account, it does nothing. Then when I click OK, it states that the username must not be blandPassword must be at least {1} characters. Also, when I try to add another facebook account with my correct email address, it won't let me stating that I can only have one account. What is the cleanest way to fix this? Do I have to factory reset my Droid? I have clockwork mod installed and it's rooted. Do I need to clear data and cache?
hey man you have sbf or i did. i did a reset and it didnt do anything so i did sbf and back again like new
Don't have an SBF. I was hoping to find a way to remove the account a little less intrusive. I'm not opposed to using an SBF but I'm not sure how to find a clean one. I'm on Verizon Ver 2.2

Uninstall the app.
Go into the android settings > accounts. Delete the facebook account.
Reboot.
If you want to add facebook back in, make sure you uncheck the "sync" box when you set it up, next time.
/If that fails, try doing a factor reset. Settings > Privacy > Factory Reset. You'll lose all of your settings and start from scratch this way, so make sure you back up anything you're concerned about.
Many thanks. The factory Reset did fix the problem. After the factory reset, the market downloaded all my apps again. My contacts were all there, not sure if they didn't get cleared or were just recovered from the Verizon Contacts backup. The bad facebook account is gone. Everything is cool again in Android land. Couldn't have been easier, you just have to know who to ask. Thanks again.
I linked my facebook up on my phone and even after DELETING the program it still links all my contacts.
So now, I have 500 people when i go to select a contact to text and when I type in a friends name 3 entries pop up.
Ive tried looking up stuff on google and even tried everything to unsync it and its completely unsinked and it still wont help.
HOW DO I GET RID OF THREE OF THE SAME CONTACT POPPING UP ON MY TEXTS?
Please help its making my phone unuseable i really loved this phone until this issue
Best to start fresh. Deselect the contact sources you don't want to sync. Go to settings/applications/manage applications. Hit the running tab. Scroll to find "contacts storage" app. Select it. Select delete data. This will erase all your contact data. You can then resync the contacts you want.
Swyped on my rooted MyTouch4G
ended up using a friends recommendation of contact remover/removal from the market nice free program
Here the fix it happen to me to:
Go to-Contacts-Views and choose only with phone number. I disable the facebook for my touch under options. You can disable the other choices you have there too. Hope this work for you!
Just factory reset a Samsung Intercept. Half of the contacts were deleted, N-Z, but A-M are still there. They were deleted from gmail.
I cant figure out how to get them back, I tried to use the gmail restore feature, to as far back as 30 days ago, and still only a-m are there.
What happened? How can I get them back?
I didn't have a backup because I thought google was the back up.
Try this, my wife had all her contacts "deleted" by the froyo OTA.
Open up contacts and hit menu > display options
her section here had nothing checked (ie: nothing displaying). i checked everything off and saved and they all showed up. good luck!
EDIT: oooh wait, i just read that, it sounds like you might have been saving contacts to the phone and not directly to google, thats why they disappear when you factory reset (ie: wipe data), not too much you can do i dont think
Hello,
Having some different issues with my Nexus S, I've decided to freshly reinstall everything. I've deleted all data from SD/USB card, did a factory reset of the phone, then moved the full 2.3.4 ROM. After a successful install, it came to my surprise that the custom wallpaper that I've used before the format was there ! Same goes for a couple of settings that were probably saved online and then restored.
How to completely delete these settings that are stored online and perform some real clean installation ?
Thanks in advance !

thats because after you log in to your google account, your settings, wallpaper, and bookmarks got restored. you probably checkmarked a setting that allows google to back your stuff up.
Of course that is obviously the explanation. But is there a way to delete these online-stored settings ?

after you factory reset, while going through the setup before you get to the homescreen, dont enable google backup/restore.
Yeah but in that case I would lose all my contacts, right ? (I got my SIM card weeks ago and there's not a single contact on it)
no my friend, sync services is not the same as backup settings.
You can set sync sevices (contacts, calendar, mail, music, etc) in "Account and Sync" menu and set backup data (wallpapers, settings, wi-fi passwords, etc) in "Pricacy" menu.
you can also import your contacts from the gmail page via the desktop browser. press contacts and all your contacts are there.
Wonderful. Thank you guys for your answers
You can't really delete the WLAN settings, apps you had installed, wallpaper settings etc once they are in the cloud, you can just choose to not have them applied or restored. Deleting your Google account would anonymize those settings after a period of 6(?) months.
