How can I unsynchronize my gmail with my G1?

I'm going to guess it is with a hard reset, but I don't want to mess with all the apps I downloaded. I was able to delete all my contacts so it is fine, but I'm thinking it might automatically sync up with my gmail and download my contacts or erase my contacts online after I sell the phone. What are my options?
or maybe I can set it to a different gmail, but how do I do that? Or maybe it is really simple, just change the password on my gmail account, that should work right?
Ok, changing my password worked, but now it seems to be stuck on asking for my password, but not giving the next person the option to change accounts, or how can I manually change it to a different gmail?

if you want to remove your details before selling the phone, try a factory reset. or you can go into the google app data in the applications management and clear the data there.

Yeah, I was able to clear all data, but was just concerned the phone would have my gmail password and access my data again so changing the password worked. It just got stuck asking for my password when I pretended to want to add phone number by syncing. I'm rebooting now too see what it asks for now.
But I guess there is no way to connect it to another gmail account without doing a factory reset? Doesn't a factory reset eliminate all the programs I installed that are non market? I can reinstall, but if I sell it to a noob they might have a problem.

Are you rooted? If so, there should be a setting in the development app to unsync with google. (I might be wrong though, deleted the app, lol).

AFAIK, that's a deliberate feature so that you can't pay for an app on one account and sign in with it on multiple phones, then unsync and keep the apps (thereby stopping people from getting apps from their friends for free).

Dude wtf? Just do a hard reset and it will ask you to log back into google. As long as you DON'T log back in, what on earth makes you think it's going to sync your contacts back up?

WTF r3s-rt!! wanna make something out of it, hehe jk. I guess you weren't reading the posts. It was already taken care of with changing my password in the edit. Also, I'm guessing you're a noob and don't realize a hard reset will put it into it's factory settings and I specifically said when selling it, I didn't want to give them a phone with nothing on it. It's all set up with wifi tether and a bunch of other cool things. I'll let the new buy purchase and decide what they want to do. Also, yes if just deleting all the info and not changing my password, but leaving it linked to my google it would indeed sync to my gmail if the new user so chose. I killed to birds by simply changing my gmail password. Of course it wouldn't sync after doing a hard reset, wtf!! geez

Most Rom's let you skip the signing google part, but it wont let you download anything from the market so you can install via adb

Will the new user not therefore be able to use their own Gmail without losing the apps you installed?

Help set up my phone but put wrong gmail account

I spent the last couple of days setting up my new phone exactly as I want it, installed lag fix, rooted it, installed all of the apps I needed and am good to go.
Thing is, I used a Gmail account that I don't want to use any more, as I also have a Google Apps account, which has all of my contacts. The Gmail one is just confusing everything.
I have tried removing the Gmail account with the whole 'manage accounts' routine but it doesn't seem to work with Froyo.
The next thing is a factory reset which I am very reluctant to do. I dont want to lose all the rooting, performance fix settings, nor do I want to sit here installing and configuring everything from the beginning.
Would using Titanium backup help if I did a factory restore, or will it just restore the Google account that I want removed?

Anybody?

Pretty sure this could be found quicker if you'd have just done a quick search here or on Google.
Anyway, menu-settings-applications-manage applications-all-gmail-clear data. If that doesn't work try google services framework from that same menu.

[Q] How to change default Gamil account

Having HTC Wildfire and now want to change Default gmail account being used by all app, mostly Gtalk. I have 5 Gmail accounts on my cell and want to switch between.
The only way i see is to Factory reset phone. By this i guess i will loose all paid apps !
Is there anyone who can help me out without getting my phone Factory Reset !!
Any help will b greatly appreciated !~~

If I understand you correctly you want to delete some of yours accounts and change them...you can do this: go to your mail..press menu..more...Account list-here you can change your accounts
And if you want to delete them...when you change your account go again : mail..press menu..more...settings..at the end you have delete account.

I had this problem. Accidently signed in to a Gmail account that wasn't my main one, and it was locked to that as primary I'm sure there is something in the system you could delete to revoke the linked account, but the easiest way is to just do a factory reset and/or reflash the ROM.
No you won't lose paid apps, unless you did something silly and bought apps on more than one Google account! Purchases are always locked to that specific gmail address, wiping the phone doesn't matter as soon as u login to market you'll see all the Purchased Items in there, ready to download.
Edit: give me 24 hours, ill see if I can find a way to do it via ADB/DroidExplorer.

Where's the stock rom?

I'm so sick of the problems with these custom roms, I'm going back to stock.

LOL cute. Did you make a nandroid backup? If so you can restore from that, if not go to HTC's site and get whatever "stock" ROM you'd like.
Also, have you tried troubleshooting your ROM woes? It could be some ID-10 T error which a wipe typically clears. I've made this error a great many times.
P. S. I'm running CM nightly, and it's been relatively stable. So I'm sure the final release will be far more stable.

I ran every rom, every kernal, every version, wiped, backed, burped and farted.
It's all over not being able to delete a Google account. God damn Google and their infinite wisdom.

Two gmail accounts on one phone. The default needs to go. Google won't let me delete it without a wipe.
So, I wiped all day and flash new roms, nothing works. Restored a nandroid and the phone works for the first time today but same old two account business.
We used to be able to delete the google account, (clear user data I think) but I guess not anymore. If I have to wipe to fix this I want a phone that works and right now stock is looking peachy.

do you have the accounts linked through gmail settings (on computer not phone) That's the only reason I can think of and could be really off..
if you do a full wipe, set up one of the accounts(the one you want) and if they both appear after that maybe they are linked in some way through email. I know you can link accounts but never used it and dont know how it works.. but I do remember seeing a setting when I was poking around gmail

If I wipe login one account it only shows one and that's fine but I have my phone the way I want it and took days to get it this way. CM7 RC1/ mixer and it's been running fine. I tried to wipe, install RC1/Mixer again, and it didn't work for me. I've been at this all day and not happy.
Here's the issue: The default account has no contacts, the other accounts has all my contacts. If I try to use better cut or any cut I can't see the contacts because both those programs look at the default contact list. Better cut sees nothing.
It's a stupid problem that should be an easy fix, delete one account and the other becomes the default. How I achieve this magical feat eludes me.

orrrrr you can import contacts to that default account and ur problem is solved? which can all be done from your computer in under 10 minutes.
Export from second account all contacts into a folder, then import into the first.

I use 2 gmails. I don't have any problems.

you dont know how to do something and you cuss out google for their "infinite wisdom" and all custom roms? i understand you're frustrated, man, but don't get mad and cuss people out. a little bit of kindness goes a long way.

Factory Reset: Not everything does reset itself

I just switched from the Inspire to the Atrix and noticed something weird.
When I do a Factory reset, after it starts back up. Not everything is back to where it was originally.
Icon placement and some widgets I moved around and added are still there after the Factory reset. Everything else is reset fine. It just seems like not everything is getting erased back.
I do have the Gmail backup and restore unchecked, and yes I am erasing internal memory when resetting.
Is it the Motorola Blur account which is restoring the icons and widgets? I wish you could turn that option off. I looked around the Motorblur website after logging in and there is no settings to change in there.
Is my only recourse setting up a new Blur account?
I want the thing to do a proper Factory reset and change it back to like when I first turned it on, just like every other phone.
BTW I don't mind the Blur interface, I actually think it's a bit closer to Stock than say, Sense for HTC. I just hate that Motorola requires that you set up a Blur account. I could care less about having a Blur account. At least HTC doesn'ty require one.

Ya I figured it was probably the Blur account.
That stinks that Motorola has to be so invasive that they save stuff like that without an option to turn it off. Also I don't care much for my contacts being backed up on their system. I keep them on my Gmail account which is all I need.
They really should let you choose what you want to be backup up and to Opt out of it if you want.

I agree, but you can always unlock your phone and go with a custom rom like Alien that lets you skip the blur set up process entirely.

Not sure if you guys have done this already but I didnt see it posted. There is a option to NOT restore the Blur settings. Its in settings>privacy then uncheck the "Automatic Restore" box. I'm pretty sure thats the fix to it. There you'll also see a check box for backing up your data, you can uncheck that if you like as well.
Edit: Just re-read the OP's post and yea you already tried that

I saw that setting, but that is only for backups on your Google account and not Blur. Plus after you login to blur after a factoy reset it already has your stuff on the home screen after the phone finishes rebooting.
Also I came across something else irking me now. When your contacts come down, it is merging different contacts with similar names without asking if you want to do that like on the Inspire.
I have two different people with similar names, John and Johnny. The darn thing merged both of them together even though they are separate in my Gmail account. On my Inspire it would ask me first if I wanted to merge them or dismiss. Now this darn Motorola is merging things without my permission.
