Bathroom usage - Acer Iconia A500

Ok, be honest. Do you use your a500 in the bathroom or not?

No. I take care of business and I move on - I'm not in the bathroom to dally.

Of course strictly #2

bathroom you mean ? toilet?
I can't use my tablet anyway during cleaning myself, or chilling in a bath... coz I do not have bathtub...
and I never stay more than 1 - 2 minutes on the DARK THRONE

I occasionally take it into the bathroom with me. Maybe one time in 20 if it's for number 2. For listening to music in the shower with a separate powered speaker maybe 5% of the time I shower. The most common use is for self pleasure, I have the 16gb card loaded with pornography.

I take mine and either browse the internet's, or play random games. End up spening ages just sitting on the throne mucking around with my A500.

We call them bathrooms in the U.S., toilets are the things you sit on. Yay, dialects!

I use it proudly on the toilet. It's the only time that I check my email!

But I do take mine in the bathroom. Whether it be because I'm listening to music n don't want it to stop, or because I'm taking care of business (helping people on XDA) and my OTHER duty calls lol

I have too many books to read to take the tablet in there.
Hey, the "Orcs" series isn't going to finish itself you know...

I find its the best place to answer all my work e-mails...there is something deeply satisfying about knowing your boss is reading that which was composed on the porcelain seat. I've often thought of snapping a picture or two, just to illustrate for the higher-ups where I do most of my critical thinking. Of course reading the news is good too...since most of the headlines make me want to crap myself in frustration and anger, at least I'm prepared for any such mishaps.

When the final CM7 is out with everything working (fp, weptop) I would rather pay $50-$100 to some XDA member in my area to unlock and install it if I don't have the time to do it, takes some reading, root, unlock, backup data, install.

Rooting Service !
Long time browser, first time contributor.
Sounds to me like they are offering a service just like fixing a car or installing Linux. Not sure why that qualifies them as “scumbags”.
I'm not very technical, and like several others have mentioned, would gladly pay someone to root my phone.
I did call them about my rooting my Inspire a few months back, and they did offer replacement protection against bricking my unit. Also, if I mess-up my device in the future, I can always send it back to them for repair – no charge.
If everything on the xda-threads worked perfectly, I too wouldn’t mind rooting myself. But, I can see from several threads, some of which are over 1000 pages long, that things don’t always go right – I don’t have time for that (as much fun as it sounds).
Find me a member of ebay, craigslist or XDA-Developers who will do the same job for less, with the same guarantee, and I’d move my business to them – I have yet to find anybody.
Everyone is good at something.
Not everyone is good at everything.
I wish I thought about this stuff before those guys did.

Omg samsung galaxy a II has self regeneration capabilities.

OK so a few months back, I got into the this blind rage (not gonna go into the details) and the only thing in my hand was my poor galaxy s2. So I threw it very very hard on the floor and the back cover, the battery, and even the sd card came off. Soon afterwards I picked it up and put everything back in place and to my reliefs, the phone worked perfectly. The battery was even,... How do I say this? Misshapen? I had to reshapen? So it could fit in its place. Anyway, everything worked perfectly except the loud speaker was broken. I could use the phone without playing music through loud speaker and never put it in loud speaker mode during conversations. After a few months of this, suddenly the speakers was understandable again. Might not be as good as when I got it brand new but it works now.
Thanks everyone for reading my stupid post up to this point. If you have, you are patient people.

Yep true story.
Ah, no biggie.
It's the nanobots. When selfdiagnostic finds any HW faults it releases these tiny nanobots that then repair broken circuits.
I can sadly confirm that these regenerational properties are null and void if your SGS2 happens to be run over by the number 19 tram in Oslo - I suspect the tram number and city are irrelevant.
I'd have taken a picture, but looking at the mangled mess exacerbated my toothache, so I binned it.

No cell phone use in cars

i just saw where they passed a law against cell phone use whether it be hand held or hands free in chapel hill n.c.while driving.... didn't think that with all the money cell companies are making they would ever let this get going...once it starts anywhere it usually spreds....i'm not wanting to get into a debate about cell phone usage danger and trust me i have seen it a lot being on the road with my job...but it looks like a lot of confusion coming with having to find places to pull of the road especially in the country road areas to handle a business deal or a personal call..just my 2 cents worth.
We've had that law in California for a while now.

NY Passed a no hand held devices like 12 yrs ago. I really can't see how they can stop you from using a hands free device. For one thing, how can anyone even SEE a an ear piece while your driving? They gonna ban all talking while driving next?
Some states allow you to use a hands free device as long as its already built into the vehicle.

it is coming brother... the Feds are mandating that ALL states pass some sort of hand held device law or risk losing federal funding for road repairs/upkeep. I gotta say anyone that argues this is a damn idiot. I commute 80 miles to work and have been damn near run off the road about once a week because some jack ass is talking on the phone or texting. I also am a motorcycle rider. If you drift into my lane, you are getting steel ballbearings into you windshield!
Yeah, I'm not sure how they would enforce this either. More and more cars nowadays have integrated bluetooth audio, or one can add aftermarket devices to do this. I guess they can catch people texting while driving (which I agree, is a crazy thing to do anyways).
I think texting is the worst. I'm a teenager and I have tried to text and drive but I don't do it anymore because of how difficult it is.
But other teens gladly take that risk

Lol well I suppose I'll drop a little truth in here...
My stepmother used to be a flight attendant. The REAL reason why they ask you to turn off electronic devices is so that all the passengers are not distracted during take off or landing should something happen that would require the flight crews attention.
It actually makes a lot of sense. If no one is talking on the phone or listening to music, then a passenger could spot something, like smoke coming out of a turbine or such.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
While squshy has it partially right, there are real electronics issues as well. I work with aircraft certified electronics and have talked with the engineers that do the actual certification. The FAA would like you to believe your device could bring down the aircraft if you don't turn it off, and while it's theoretically possible, it's totally improbable.
The real reason is your device could have a design that unintentionally spews EMI, which could interfere with communications or radar and lead to a collision if airtraffic control cannot communicate with the pilots. Radios by their very nature cannot be shielded from interference like the local avionics can.
Certified for flight devices have to go through thousands of hours of very expensive tests for every version of hardware to ensure they do not emit any EMI in the range that would affect avionics or communications. There is simply no way to know if your device will emit harmful EMI even in airplane mode. I know it sucks, but just turn it off or end up like Alec Baldwin.

Dwyw42 pretty much said it all. I fly every week to get to work and back and it is a hassle to obey the 10,000 laws. They even stress that "airplane mode" is not acceptable.... shut it down!!
How much compliance is there with that? What a joke! Think of all the kindle's, laptops, ipads etc that are is standby/screen off mode. How about watches? Electronic Razors? Electronic Toothbrushes? What is the interference caused when operating a Norelco model 2459S and a Samsung S3 in Direct Conect mode? No one knows and the permutations and combinations of so many different devices is why it's just easier to shut them down. It would be impossible to test/approve each device.
That said. When I get to work, and while working I frequently have a kindle, laptop, nook and phone that are not fully powered off.... and I'm a pilot! And to make you feel comfortable, I will also say that I try to not text and drive!

Anything dealing with in-flight rules seems absurd. Why do you have to put your seat back all the way forward??? Don't tell me that, after falling 30,000 feet, the 1/4 of an inch recline is going to block the person behind me from escaping...

Its so stupid why should we abide by some law that another human made unless its proven that it affects the plane in anyway its not worth it. Just like weed, it was here it was grown from day 1 on earth so why is it that they make it illegal because it affects you and they think it affects you in a bad way, and to them its a drug which is not true drugs have chemicals,etcc... **** done to things in order to get that drug. Interesting, so much attitude about "stupid laws" crying why can't I use my electronic devices, well, as a serious radio enthusiast (CB, ham radio, scanning, anything to do with radio) I know a hell of a lot about radio and what electronics can do to disrupt radio receivers. Think about this before saying anything more about how stupid the law is about using electronic equipment on an airplane, a lot of the radio equipment on a flight, especialy long haul international flights rely heavily on HF RADIO, as a hammy, I can tell you that HF RADIO is the worst radio system to pick up radio interference from electronic devices. This interference is caused by spurious harmonics, NOT ALL electronic equipment is clean, it ALL emits some kind of signal and HF RADIO will pick it up, so think of this, an aircraft is being called by ground control half way across the Atlantic, and you got that crappy Chinese made hand held device putting out 60db of spurious harmonics across the entire HF BAND the pilot of the plane your on can't here that another plane is headed right for yours. Well you get the idea.

I know how to take care of a phone, so do most. Accidents happen. I, as well as many others I'm sure, have placed a phone in what we thought was a safe spot, and still had it fall, or someone else accidentally knocks it down. I have a 3 year old. I'd love to see you hand a phone to a small child and have them not drop it. Or have it slide out of a pocket. Thanks for playing.

Pointless thread! All these people seem to be having problems with their phones but mine has been absolutely tip top! I cannot fault it! But people nit pick about the stupid things!

People aren't nit picking, some people have legitimate claims. It's a phone and believe it or not, accidents do happen.
This is where we've reached, fan boys actually blaming the consumer now for accidentally dropping their phone's, instead of blaming the real culprit.

I'd love to see you hand a phone to a small child and have them not drop it.

Who's the genius that would hand a 700$ phone to a 3 year old in the first place?
That would be no accident, it would mean the parent is missing more than a couple of braincells.

our little girl plays learning games on both mine and the lady's phone, along with grandma's tablet. All three of the devices have more than stood up to the task. She's only dropped the tablet once, neither phone yet. Also, not everything is out of reach to the little one. Sometimes I'll set it on the wide arm of the couch to charge while I sit there. If I get up, I'm not going to Unplug it just to get a drink in the next room. At $300+ and listed as a " solid, sturdy, durable etc" product, you expect it to withstand a drop or two. My Droid X has been knocked off counters and such by friends( where it SHOULD be safe), dropped by myself, I've gotten hung up in the charger cord once despite my best effort to keep it out of the way, pulling my phone with it. Hit bumps in a vehicle dumping it from the car holder, as it clicked into place, but didn't actually secure. I've had coolant and other automotive fluids spilled on me, or splash onto my phone etc. I was using the LED light to find small puddles in the basement once, dropped it into the water after tripping over something I didn't see, its worked its way out of my deep side pocket while I ran once, fell onto my foot and got kicked across the ground. I don't keep it there anymore but the pocket was 3" deeper than the phone, should have been secure. Point is, you can't predict everything around you, or control it. Accidents happen regardless unless you move like a turtle, even then it may still happen. So can we lose the stupid and stay on topic please?

Still, it is a 3 year old. Why don't you just get her a cheap tablet of her own to remove your expensive phones out of the equation?
Also, even though the rest was painfully hard to read, (wall of text) I still did and I agree that devices should be build more sturdily when they cost 300+$.
Accidents happen in life, but we can do things to avoid them and minimize the damage.

yes,I tend to rant. Other then that, we don't have the money to spend right now. I'm only upgrading because after flashing back to bone stock with no root, my Droid X is still not getting all its calls, which presents an issue when your trying to get a job lol.

$2.50 for insurance here each month. That is the solution with backups and next day delivery on a replacement, priceless.

+1.....close the pointless thread! £4 a month for phone insurance! You pay $6-700 for the galaxy s3 which is a highly sought after phone and people are giving it to toddlers, and just breaking it out of their own stupidity! I can't recall a time when I've ever dropped my phone, take better care of your phone or wipe the butter from your fingers!

Bunch of ****ing idiots. Are we all 12? Can't read? Can't stay on topic to save your lives? If you have nothing constructive to add to my thread, please keep your mouth shut. Thanks.
THIS THREAD IS NOT ABOUT INSURANCE OR WHAT TO DO IF YOU BREAK THE DEVICE. I SIMPLY WANTED TO KEEP TRACK OF THE BROKEN DEVICES. Since no one on this forum can seem to read, or comprehend a simple request I think I'll just move back to my other forums. Too many incompetent Retards here.

no it doesn't, it boils down to accidents happen. I was working on gathering insurance information from different companies to post along with parts links etc. There are already several threads about broken devices. Once again proving your a bunch of ****ing idiots. This will be the last thread I post here. Pretty pathetic considering its my first, and not one God damn person could post on topic.
Best part is, you guys keep bumping the thread to the top just to say its pointless. That makes perfect sense.

Well stop making pointless threads then! With people giving advice on how not to break your device.....simple, take better care of it and stop being stupid! What does other peoples broken devices have to do with you? Unless your saying that you personally broke them? This thread is pointless and a constant reminder to those whose devices have broken, a constant reminder of their misfortune! Of their bad luck if you wish!

Who are you helping?? How can you possibly help/teach anyone not to drop their phone?? The price of insurance to the price of a screwed up phone is pittance!

Give the guy a break. If you read the original thread I don't see it as that bad of an idea.
