[Poll] What modem are you using? - Epic 4G General

Also with which build froyo or GB?

Ec05 on both counts. Ec05 plus and the ec05 clean kernel. I've had little luck w GB leaks so I'm waiting on an official (w source) release. With most of the newer roms I experience wake lock.

EC05 and EC05
Posted by Mr. Z's Epic 4G.

I had a horrible time with EF roms, but after the EG22 came out everything is everything!
I haven't had any complaints and the phone is running pretty damn good.

i'm on EG22 w/eg22 modem.. wonder if anyone is using EC05 with EG22

EG22 w/ EF10 modem. (it sucks lol)
I plan to change it soon.

EG22 with EG22 and phone is running silky smooth

Running Stock EG22 with modem EG22. Leagues better than my slow, glitchy EC05. I have some very livable bugs but nothing as bad as EC05. Easily my daily driver and my battery life has been the best it has been since I got the phone. I'm about to plug it in and its been almost 16 hours!

DL09 Radio with DJ05 Rom

is it possible to run the DL09 modem with the DJ05 theme and kernels? I finally got my phone runnign stable with jt nonvoodoo kernel 12-12 and Superdark DJ05.
You could but some things would be broken

No problems for me so far, gps and radio seems to have gotten some help...could be my imagionation. I think only those mixing kernels and systems need worry. I'm using the DL09 modem with, son of skywalker DJ05 works beautifully.

[Q] Kernals in DL30

Can any of the nonvoodoo dj05 and dl09 kernals be ran on the DL30 rom. I am noticing a decrease in performance and battery compared to the undervolted kernals I used before. I don't want to try running one if I will get stuck in a boot loop or fc hell.
Considering DL30 is using a 2.6.32.9 kernel. I can assure you that an eclair kernel will surly break things.
good day.

Err....for 2.2 you mean? Kernels for DL09 2.1 exist, but unless i'm mistaken the 2.2 kernel source isn't available, hence the lack of kernels

Themes for Stock EC05??

Okay so will any of the themes work on a stock EC05?? For example will a midnight Theme that works for his Custom ROM based EB13 work for a stock EC05 just the same?? Just curious.
All I can say is the themes for eb13 work on bonsai based on ec05 just fine. Make sure the stock ec05 you have is deodexed though or none will work. If you used the update.zip they wont work

Tried honeycomb them. It got stuck on samsung logo. I'm going to assume gingerbread won't work either
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Gingerbread theme didn't work for me. It booted but I got a bunch of force closes, no signal and the phone kept vibrating. Glad I made a backup before flasing.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Listen........if you guys are on stock ec05 that rom is odexed. You need a deodexed stock ec05. I.think konane has a flashable deodexed ec05. Themes work on bonsai 4.0.0 on ec05 cause its deodexed.
Edit: nevermind konanes flashable is odexed too.

Thats funny. I had gingerbread working for me on bonsai 4.0.0. I am now on EC05 via the update.zip for DI18 and I'm deodexed.

so you are saying you updated.ziped a DI18 deodexed to EC05 and it remained Deodexed? I'm just trying to figure out because all i want is a EC05 Deodexed rfs or deoexed/Pre-rooted rfs rom and I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Most stable stock 2.3.3 ?

I'm looking for the most stable and 100% stock 2.3.3 firmware for the SGS. I did a search but the threads were too old. Any suggestions, especially since I read many 2.3.3 suffer from battery issues ? Some of the newer 2.3.3 ROMs I tested (Asian) gave me weird brightness issues (screen changing brightness constantly).
Why ?
Just flash via odin the stock 2.3.4 jvq dedoexe and flash with it kernel dark core
Or install custom rom

No. JVQ is too buggy for me (Phone app crashes) and brightness blinds me at night. I like to keeps things stock and not install kernels or other stuff.
I use JPI as it is an oficially released 2.3.3
I did not notice any bugs.
JVP is not oficially?

i will suggest to use the jvq 2.3.4. I'm on stock + speedmod and after the fix for the phone.apk everything is fast and very stable
I'm on JVH stock (XEN) and it gives better battery life than unofficial stock JVP. It is a bit laggy though but with speedmod kernel and ext4 it is just fine

EL30 to FC09 Flashable Modem Delta update.

Thanks to mkasick for making kexec possible on the Epic 4G, an to DRockstar for CWM5, and to bickman2k for testing the zip(ps, it works)
Downloads:
http://epiccm.blogspot.com/2012/04/el30-to-fc09-cwm-zip.html
Instructions:
For BML:
Flash the zip in CWM if you just want to update your modem while on BML and with the EL30 modem. As long as you have the EL30 modem already and are on BML partition you will not lose any data or root.
For MTD:
CM7 nightlies, CM9, and any other MTD kexec supported kernels which is just about all. Go to the following post, then come back here for the modem flashable, and flash my zip in the BML CWM:
http://epiccm.blogspot.com/2012/01/boot-cwm5-bml-from-sdcard-no-flash.html
For those on FB15 Rom or Modem, you need to go to EL30. Rodderik has the stock tar and modem here:
http://epiccm.blogspot.com/2012/02/el30-factory-firmware-image.html
And Odin 1.85:

Modem is still new, so how it works is still largely unknown. Best way to find out is to try it. Make sure to follow instructions carefully.

I bet they stopped modem development after EL30. Wasn't messing with the modem what contributed to random reboots on the leaks? They probably feel they got it as best as they could and the delta changes the baseband number.

I am running AOKP B29 and just flashed the FC09 modem. Works fine, just follow instructions (boot into CWM, flash bootable CWM.zip, then flash the EL30 to FC09.zip, reboot, profit)
........was on pm last night, sharing piecemeal install instructions w/ a fellow member: explaining how to use wtogami's CWM/BML to flash a delta..........Thanks again for all of your efforts in centralising all of the parts to one site w/ this thread, it'll help many a soul out there!
