You can freeze apps with Titanium (I believe you need the pro version to do this though).
There is an app called "Network Location" that Titanium can freeze, so that may be the solution.
Alternatively, the easiest thing to do (if it works) go to Settings -> Location and security and check the settings in there. I can't see it being that though, as I have wireless network locations on all the time and I've never seen any network location apps cause me problems.
Where are you getting the information that those apps are draining your battery?

THX!!! M8
The informatin is from the "BETTERBATTERYStats " app
look for it on XDA

Disable Settings->Location->Use wireless
Then in either Maps or Latitude, there must be a setting to disable the service. Since freezing these useless battery wasters is one of the first things I do after flashing a new
ROM, I can't tell you exactly what, but you can find it.

Glad to help mate

While freezing apps can obviously help, just making sure you are not logged into Latitude will help a lot with your battery. I reckon I added 12 hours or more to my expected battery life just by logging out and staying out - no freezing required.

Go into Google maps settings into location and uncheck all options in there and ensure that it isn't reporting your location.

And when you do use maps.... it's a hassle. If you have maps set up properly, it shouldn't even be using any battery life at all unless you turn the app on and actually start using it.
With your theory, you should freeze all apps you don't use? Doesn't make any logical sense.
I've got a similar issue with my battery usage. Comparing the maps usages on my N4 to my Photon, and on my N4, the usage is 10%, keep awake is 40m and the gps is 6m, and CPU is 8m.
For my Photon, the usage is 2%, the keep awake is 2h and the cpu total is 2m.
I do have CM10 on my Photon and still stock on my N4, but the behavior does seem odd. The N4 has much more usage
for me, unchecking location reporting did not fully do the trick. what you need to do is make sure maps does not autostart and cause wakelocks which decrease your battery life substantially. to do this, download an app called "autostarts" from the play store and disable all maps autostarts by sorting the autostart processes by app. this will not allow maps to autostart and use increased battery, but you will still be able to open maps normally and use it to its full extent

Exactly it doesn't make much sense.
The usual issue is Google will periodically use Maps to get a GPS fix and Wi-Fi list to update it's own Wi-Fi to Location database. Saves them driving around with cars all the time and getting complaints about privacy I suppose :cyclops: Often it is this background updating of Google Wi-Fi locations that continually pop Google Maps into the battery list even if we never use it between charges.
There is now an easy to use global setting to quickly disable Google Maps from doing this, this is under Settings - Accounts - Google - Location, flick the switch here to off, now Google applications can not poll for locations or do background updates, however other applications can still use GPS and request a location.
Regards
Phil
sorry for bumping this but quite recently my maps app has been consuming battery more than my wifi, it's comparable with OP's photo. Now here is the thing, I already had this problem before and I solved it by disabling location reporting and stuff, but a few days ago it suddenly began to consume battery as if i had reenabled the location reporting stuff. I have used a app called wakeup detector to try and find whats wrong and this is what I'm getting. I hope someone can help.
Download "Greenify" if you're rooted.

Google Play Services taking up too much battery?

Lately when i go to check my battery percentage, usually the screen would take up most of the battery, but now i see google services taking up way more than my screen.
Google Services takes up 38%, while Screen takes up 29% in the battery setting menu.
Although I'm running a Modified version of TouchWiz, I know it's not the rom because I've been on this rom for a month now and this has only been happening recently.
Has this been happening to anyone?
I'm thinking it's the new playstore update.
EDIT; also found this.

Settings/more/location services <--- disable "use wireless networks". This cut down on the wakelocks from Google Play Services by about 90%...but of course I lost that feature, which I would prefer to have.

battery drains very fast with Google Services, Android Apps and Android Core System

Hey guys, me again, I have a problem over here one day my phone starts to consume a lot of battery, at first it was the contacts application, then logsprovider, then contact manager, finder application provider and in some cases the android application system, all that I consume the phone, one day is a day other which I can do, since I heated phone use and the battery runs out very quickly.
I have already installed the firmware twice with odin and after a few hours back the same, I've done factory reset and nothing working.

Go to Maps settings and turn off location reporting in Google locations setting. Also in Google+. Then go to your Gmail account in settings, long press on your email and uncheck all services you don't want to sync.

Fine thanks, also use the application Greenify
The new Android Device Manager location finder seems to be the culprit a lot of time now. If you are in a low signal area or have bad gps reception this new app that was pushed to the phone can suck down your battery. You have to disable this feature through the Google settings app in your app drawer.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I'm still getting major battery drain from Google Services even with location reporting unchecked and device manager turned off. I don't have this problem on CM10.2, only TW (currently on stock MF9), even though I use the same setup on both roms. Any other tips?

I was finally able to take care of the problem. If you force stop Google Play Services and clear the app's data, then force stop the Play Store and clear the app's data, then reboot, it seems to take care of it.

thanks maxpower7, your reply helped. I was also having battery drain problems suddenly. I cleared the Google Play Services cache en some other things, like disabling location services. Now all is ok.
I did have these services enabled before without any problems.

copresGcore_EventLoop wakelock eating battery

Hello sinc the past few days I'm having this wakelock eating my battery. I tried to research what it is with very little success. I updated my rom to the latest slimkat and gapps with little success. Anybody had the same problem? Thank you
Same here
getting the same , keep awake solid 100% by this Google play services wake lock, any ideas on how to stop it would be greatly appreciated.
Fixed my problem with copresGcore_eventloop
Ok, so awhile back I followed some tweaks to Google play services to save battery drain, see this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-google-play-services-battery-t2832525
Which worked rather well, but since the latest Google play services update went in I started getting the 'no deep sleep/keep awake' issue that BBS and GSAM showed as being caused by copresGcore_eventloop .
What I did was just reverse the tweaks in android tuner , and also removed my Google account and added it back and then rebooted. This has fixed my issue with copresGcore_eventloop .
I have not yet had time to see if reapplying the tweaks would start the issues again but likely will try that soon and will try to post back results.

After disabling some services I saw this wakelock today as well for the first time.
To fix the problem it was enough to re-enable
Code:
com.google.android.location.reporting.service.PreferenceService
Wow! Was it a magic?

Here is it (via ol' good Disable Service):
Code:
In [B]Google Services Framework[/B]:
com.google.android.gsf.checkin.CheckinService
com.google.android.gsf.checkin.EventLogService
In [B]Google Play Services[/B]:
com.google.android.location.reporting.service.DeleteHistoryService
com.google.android.location.reporting.service.DispatchingService
com.google.android.location.fused.FusedLocationService
com.google.android.location.reporting.service.InitializerService
com.google.android.location.reporting.service.LocationHistoryInjectorService
com.google.android.location.reporting.LocationReportingService
com.google.android.location.places.PlaylogService
com.google.android.gms.gcm.ProxyGTalkService
com.google.android.location.reporting.service.ReportingAndroidService
com.google.android.location.reporting.service.ReportingSyncService
com.google.android.gms.subscribedfeeds.SyncService
[STRIKE]com.google.android.gms.update.SystemUpdateService[/STRIKE] (UPD at June 2015: do NOT disable this service, with new version of Google Framework it leads to not sleeping system)
com.google.android.gms.wearable.service.WearableService
It is a full list of Google services disabled on my system (Xperia Ray SJB8 CM10). Probably, some of them aren't disabled by me but by some software due to appropriate settings.
Obviously, I do not recommend in any way to do such hacks on other systems. It is just my weird brutal parascientific experience. Kekeke.

I saw copresGcore_Eventloop wakelock in BBS. I then saw under Settings > Battery represented as Google Play Services. I then experimented with Greenify, DisableServices and using Titanium Pro to freeze apps following the link provided in the first few posts of this thread. All were very interesting but caused notifications about problems with Google Play Services. I'm on 4.4.2 and stumbled across App Ops in System Settings. I tapped on Google Play Services and unchecked a bunch of elements I don't use and it now doesn't appear on the list in battery. I have two google accounts, one is only used to share Google Play Music with my wife. I unchecked all the boxes on that account. I think there is a bug relating to having two google accounts.
Disclosure: this is on a Verizon Galaxy Note II running 4.4.2 Alliance ROM 30

Safe to turn off "background activity" (Oreo feature)

I noticed OREO has introduced a new setting in the apps > battery section for apps coded for android prior to android 8
Much to my surprise google play services has a toggle which is an indicator they are targeting API for android 7 still.
Is it safe to turn off "background activity" for google play services?
I've turned it off and it appears I still get incomming gmail messages so I'm thinking it might not actually affect anything or am I wrong?
Can you give a screenshot?

You mean the option when you tap on Google Play Services in the battery stats, right? You can safely switch that to disable background activities.
Though, I don't know if this makes any noticeable difference in battery life, for me it didn't yet.

I ran a whole day with it off and I didn't miss any notifications although battery life was not changed by a lot if anything it seemed like it made battery life worse but I can't confirm for now I guess it's safe to leave it on along with the google store.
