[Q] hdmi adapter+720p hdtv=no video? - Eee Pad Transformer General

So i bought a mini hdmi to hdmi adapter for my transformer. Fits perfectly. I connect it and the tf goes into hdmi mode, my tv flicks then says no signal. My tv is an older samsung 32 inch and only does 720p. I get no video from the tf to tv. Is the output from the tf only 1080p? I lost the tv rmote and dont know if there is something i need to switch on it. Help!

HDMI Output Compatibility Testing

I updated my B60 U.S. Transformer with the Android 3.2 OTA update and decided to do some HDMI-output compatibility testing.
I used the following:
15-foot HDMI cable: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10240&cs_id=1024009&p_id=4959&seq=1&format=2
Mini-HDMI-to-HDMI adapter: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10419&cs_id=1041909&p_id=3653&seq=1&format=2
Here are my results:
Sony BRAVIA KDL-46Z4100 (1080p) - the 3.2 OTA update makes the Transformer work perfectly on this 1080p set. It changes its resolution to 1280x720, and then the BRAVIA picks up the 720p signal and displays the cloned output with no issues and no need to make any screen position adjustments on the HDTV side. No sound problems as the Transformer sends the audio output to the HDTV set speakers.
Sony BRAVIA KDL-40S300 (720p) - there is a an overscan display issue with this BRAVIA where a bit of each side is cut off on the HDTV. This BRAVIA doesn't have detailed enough controls to scale back the output display to make everything fit properly. It's not terrible, but it's not ideal looking either. No sound problems as the Transformer sends the audio output to the HDTV set speakers.
Westinghouse TX-42F430S (1080p) - the 3.2 OTA update makes the Transformer work perfectly on this 1080p set. It changes its resolution to 1280x720, and then the Westinghouse picks up the 720p signal and displays the cloned output with no issues and no need to make any screen position adjustments on the HDTV side. No sound problems as the Transformer sends the audio output to the HDTV set speakers.
Acer H233H (1080p) - the 3.2 OTA update makes the Transformer work perfectly on this 1080p LCD computer monitor. It changes its resolution to 1280x720, and then the Acer picks up the 720p signal and displays the cloned output with no issues and no need to make any screen position adjustments on the monitor side. No sound problems as the Transformer sends the audio output to the monitor's built-in speakers.
Sony VAIO VGC-RT150Y - this is actually a desktop all-in-one computer system that happens to have an HDMI input. The Transformer changes its resolution to 1280x720, and then the VAIO picks up the 720p signal and displays the cloned output centered on its 1920x1200 LCD panel. No sound problems as the Transformer sends the audio output to the computer's speakers.
I hope this is of use for some of you out there.
why would you use a hdmi cable then an adapter and instead a actual mini hdmi cable
heres what im using http://www.monoprice.com/products/p..._id=1024201&p_id=3645&seq=1&format=4#feedback
and the 15 foot version http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10242&cs_id=1024201&p_id=7649&seq=1&format=2
So glad I looked in here first. I was about to buy a micro hdmi to hdmi, had it in my cart and everything.

I bought my 15-foot cable and the adapter some time ago before Monoprice started selling the straight cables that don't need adapters.
Anyway, I rarely connect anything with a mini- or micro-HDMI output, so it makes more sense for me to use standard HDMI (A) cables and then have adapters for when I need them.
More TV's
Thank you for this thread!
Now, are you guys going with your mini-HDMI cable to TV stores to try out HDMI-out compatibility? Thinking I could do that
I have a Samsung LE37xxx, hope it will work, would be kinky!
On another note, you may have to upgrade the TV's firmware because the newer ones (from few years back already) with USB etc. should be upgradeable...
I had a HDMI to mini HDMI adaptor that I bought off ebay however it did not work. I tried it on several different TV's and different cables and a receiver. Due to time constraints I bought a new replacement adaptor from Jaycar - tried it out and worked on two different Panasonic TV's. There were some overscan issues but I didn't have time to confirm if that was just a setting on the TV. I travel a lot for work hence the adaptor is better - don't want to carry the whole cable. If I am in a hotel with a TV with HDMI there is a good chance it will have a HDMI cable plugged into it that I can use.

[Q] No HDMI output to LG 42LD420 tv!

Hello!
Just got my Nexus 10 and I tried to connect the Mirco-HDMI out to my LG 42LD420 tv.
However, screen is all black and nothing happens. When I connect to my new PC screen HDMI port the image is mirrored instantly and it just works...
So I guess theres some new standards in Micro-HDMI that my TV doesn't support?
Just wanna clear this problem by making sure its my tv. And btw, other devices works just fine on the tv HDMI port...
Thanks for any info.
Simon
Whenever HDMI has problems it's usually HDCP that is the culprit.
Thanks! Googled some about it and I realize the problem New TV then I guess or try with some adapters to analog input...
I just ran into this the other day myself with a Samsung TV. I thought maybe it was the TV was only capable of 720p or something...
I'd get sound through from the N10, no picture though.
Also tried an MHL cable with my GNex and nothing as well.
Both devices work no problem on either of my PC monitors, and the PS3 has no problem with that cable/port on the TV.
Are there any workarounds?
My quick search indicates that it's possible that it can be cable specific? ie. Will work for some devices but not others? Does that even make sense?

[Q] TV adaptor for nexus 10

What kind of an adaptor do I need to connect my nexus 10 to my TV (it's an older TV, not flat screen, not HD. I don't care about losing the HD, just the size.)
Thanks!
Micro HDMI to HDMI, DVI, or maybe even Component (not 100% sure on that). If the TV doesn't have any of that, then you'll likely need an Analog converter to go from HDMI to VGA, Composite, or RCA.

Check your TV. If it has HDMI, you want micro-HDMI to HDMI. If it doesn't have HDMI, but does have DVI, you'll want that.
If it has neither HDMI nor DVI, you'll need a new TV Or an HDMI to analog converter.
Nexus 10 to CRT TV connection
I have a nexus 10 tablet running stock 4.4.2. I bought an hdmi to rca converter from amazon.com and a micro hdmi to hdmi cable so that I could hook up the tablet to my old sharp crt tv. When I plug in the connections I am seeing a stripe coloured screen that says 'no signal ntsc'. when i turn the switch on the converter to pal it says 'no signal pal'. Could you tell me why this is happening and if anything could be done so that I can see the content from my tablet on my tv? Do I need any software/app installed to make this work? The only ports on the tv are the composite rca ones. I know the tv is old but its its 55 inches and in perfect working condition so I really don't want to purchase another so please if there is anything you know that would help I would be more than greatful.
My setup: the microhdmi to hdmi cable plugged into the micro hdmi port on the tablet, then the rca cable connects to the back of the tv and the rca ports on the converter. Should work?? Help me please. Thanks in advance.

[Q] No sound through HDMI

I have a Tegra Note 7 and I cannot get the sound to work through HDMI. I connect the tablet to the TV using a micro HDMI cable and the video is fine, but there is no audio. Any solutions for this? Tablet is stock and rooted.

That's weird since mine has always worked fine, and there weren't any special settings to change or anything. I will say that the micro-HDMI port is kinda awful, and if the cable is wiggled at all, the signal cuts out, sometimes just the audio. You may want to troubleshoot by trying another cable and seeing if you have the same problem as well as trying this cable on another device with a micro-HDMI output, if any of that is an option.

[Help] 2017 Nvidia Shield 720P Only & No HDCP

My 2017 shield is only outputting 720P.I have tried different HDMI cables and a different TV.Before it was working on my 1080p TV until I took it to a diffenet house and it got stuck on 720p.
I have another shield in the house which works at 4k/1080p which means it's not a cable or a tv issue.
I can boot into fastboot but the text is cut off and zoomed in.Also the boot Nvidia logo has a black sqaure around it on the 4k tv.
I'm only trying to achieve 1080P. It was working perfectly fine before.
Are you plugged directly into the TV or a receiver?
If the later try resetting the receiver. If the former are you plugged into the TV's ARC input? It might have something to do with that Try a different HDMI input or try turning off ARC/CEC (or on). You might need to either reset the TV or the Shield, or both. HDCP can be a pain in the ass.
