Intro morning when I start my HD2 in Win ( I have Android on SD), on the screen appear permanently the volume controller (1-3 refresh per second) and I can't do nothing( touch button or touch screen, volume controller reappears) . In finily I removed volume controll from windows and I return to classic volume controll and now I can controll the screen.
But, but, but... The battery drain faster than before.Even if the phone is off, over night the battery is discharged.
I have all time UP volume button press, aparently. But in real , I remove flex cable and efect is similar. I think the problem is one shortcircuit (but I don't see nothing wrong) or motherboard is faulty ( the controller I/O inside the CPU). I check voltage and I have 1.86V for button volume up permanently.
What you think? You can help me?
Hi,
Could you tell me how you removed volume control from windows and returned to classic volume control? I am in to similar situation where it appears as though the volume-up button is stuck. I don't know how I got in to this. In desparation, I am in the process of flashing an Android ROM, hoping that it will fix the issue. As of now, I have flashed HardSPL and MAGLDR 1.13, but the problem still persists. The Android ROM is being downloaded now. After seeing that the issue did not get resolved till now, I feel that flashing the ROM too may not solve this problem. I am desperately looking for a solution. I cannot afford another HD2 phone. Please help.

I have problem with power button. when push pwr button dont,t off pda, but when hold pwr then lights off.
Power is never shut off in PDAs, thats the way PDAs have been designed.
I have the same problem, he is not talking about a full power down. If you hit the power button quickly the phone does nothing. However if you hold the power button down for about 2-3 seconds the lcd light turns off as it should.
Because of this I have to wait 1 minute for the unit to suspend before putting it back in the holster.
Does anybody have any idea as to why this might be happening. Im not new at this so hard reset, soft reset.. new rom... new radio...turning up side down while chanting. It does not change......
It will do it right one or twice in a week.
Maybe somebody that understands the signal that the unit receives upon pressing the power button might be able to shed some light on this.... Again the button does seem to operate just not suspend when pressed normally (1 second or less)
I have done some more research and this seems to be a common problem for some with BAs but nobody has found out why. There must be some kind of common hardware fault.. Does the power button send only one signal or is it a multi signal device.

Do you have a problem with turning on? First, we need to know whether it is hardware issue or not...
What you can do in the mean time with the turning off problem is by installing a poweroff app like shutdownme, psshutxp, etc etc...
Absolutely no problem with turning on from standby... Right now i just lock the phone before placing it back in the holster.
To make it clearer if you HOLD the power button down the backlight will turn off only. It will still show the display image and keys will still function (it dims)
Well, I had the same issue with the latest WM5 ROM. I thought I was too stupid to press the button, then I thought the button was broke, then I thought, I'll have to live with it.
Now that I have flashed to WM6, no problems at all! Never even came to my mind that this problem once existed. So I guess that some ROMs just have this particular bug?
Stefan
I have tried all the roms as well as 2003 and have the same issue in all of them. And im not alone.
Power off Problem
I'm in same condition.
Had the same problem when using WM2003 second Ed.
Now I've installed WM6 but nothing changed:
I cannot power-off/suspend but can turn off backlight if press and hold power button.
When in standby the button works fine to turn on the device.
Also, sometimes volume turns up continously with "noisy" beep ...
Anybody solved this problems?
Thanks,
Ruben

Power button has two modes:
1. Click mode: Click it once for a short duration. This turns off backlight and can be resumed by pressing it again or by pressing OK button
2. Press and Hold mode: Press and hold for few seconds and release. This mode will dim the backlight and no other button will bring it back. This is some kind of deep sleep in battery mode. To resume the original setting, press and hold Power button again for few more seconds.
(p.s.: I am not sure if this behavior is true for all the BA models)
April 1,
I know these modes...
It seems that "mode 1" doesn't work at all...
I would activate "Button Lock" (settings-->button--> Lock(tab)--> "lock all buttons except power button") to turn-off backlight and "lock all buttons except power button" but I cannnot...
You solved this problem?
I have had this issue of not being able to power off. One way I always got out of it was by clearing the registry hive. Unfortunately this brings the PDA back to the basic ROM. At this point the power button worked without any issues. Upon reloading the software the problem may come back. I believe the issue is related to some programs. I can't recall which program it was that seemed to cause the issue. One other thing I think that also worked was just entering the registry and getting back out and doing a hard reset.
I had the same problem with my 6600. the message button also didn't work. Believe it or not, to fix it. I banged the lower half (4-way area) on my desk a few times. Not hard enough to break the screen. But prolly hard enough to free what was prolly a sticky key. And now everything is working.
i am too
the same ...
when i press the power quickly , nothing happen
when i press the power for 2 sec. the backlight turns off
i tried every thing .... including formatting my BA
any one solve it ???
I have this same problem, my power button does`t work. i tried installing different roms but without any chance to fix it. maybe its an mechanic issue. i will change pwr button, i hope this work.
Look at one of my previous posts. I fixed it, twice, and other users have used the same metod to fix it. I think the problem is "hung bit" hardware related because you can also send it in for service, and they will change a chip, but i never had to.
Today I bought a HTC HD2 with the newest Winmo 6.5 rom.
The buttons: left call button, home button and lower volume button were working
I previously had bought a HTC HD2 and flashed Android on it.
Today I did the same steps, flashing Hardspl, new radio, ... but after installing Magldr I couldn't get into step 5 USB Flash mode because the call button didn't work. Strangely I was able to get into the bootloader mode with the lower volume button and then suddenly for 5 minutes all the buttons were working.
Installed Android and now it isn't working anymore. I tried to flash back the original Winmo rom but in that case the buttons weren't working either.
Anyone a solution ?
Sorry, but this really sounds like a hardware problem. Dismantle the phone and take a look in there, it may be quite fixable.
Power button does not respond at any point.
*EDIT:except after battery out for a long time, then power button WILL turn the phone on, but then continues to not function as per usual.
However, the phone automatically turns on as soon as the battery is placed in, so it's not dead at least.
Also can not get the phone to be recognised on either of two computers (one running Win 7 and the other Vista) always get "device has malfunctioned etc"
Have re-flashed a ROM from SD but same problem. If holding down the Vol Down on start up (putting the battery in) I can get to bootloader, hence the re-flash. But holding down both gets to the hard reset 'warning' screen, but it won't let me press Vol Up to actually do the hard reset.
All in all a frustrating problem which means I have to remove my battery to turn my phone off and have to use the option from Windows Menu to lock the device.
Any help with any of the problems is greatly appreciated.
Also Power Button mechanical function is still normal.
Many thanks.
Sounds like your end key has become faulty as well as your volume up button. Both of witch are common issues, especially the end button, but most peoples volume down button wears out first. This is do to the fact that the end/power key is in constant use from turning on and off the HD2 or from getting MAGLDR to pulled up a bootup for those running NAND Android. Also the volume keys take a lot of wear and tear from constant volume adjustment especially if you listen to alot of music on your HD2. Plus the volume ..down key takes extra wear and tear from being used to enter bootloader.
hello
hello vsem
Yes it does seem that way, however I have had teh battery out over night, when I put it back in this morning it DID NOT automatically initiate the boot sequence. But it did after I pressed the power button, so it must have read it to some extent?
Also when the phone is on I can change the volume up and down as per usual, its all a bit strange.
Any other way to initiate a hard reset other than that menu?
Thanks very much!
It seems you are having a hardware issue, try sending your device to the service centre.
Hi,
i have a htc touch hd with energy rom installed, i have read about the volume problem with this rom but i would like to make sure this is software related before i got any further, anyway heres my problem - as soon as i switch the phone on, everything loads then the volume up button presses itself constantly, causing the phone to constantly beep, if i then restart the phone, it vibrates 3 times and fails to come on, i have to remove the battery for a minute or so to get the phone back on then the same happens again.
so i installed the latest version of energy rom and it still happens except the volume control screen has been removed so now whenever im in a menu or drop box, it constantly changes the selected item to the option above (as if im physically pressing the volume up button).
is this software related or is the volume button physically broken.
the reason i ask before trying the patch is because the phone will need reflashin to be able to install the patch (because it will not work with the vol button stuck) and if i reflash with a stuck volume button it might crash and brick the phone. if its a hardware fault i am capable of fixing it myself.
Hi,
After a night in a tent my HTC HD2 started to malfunction. When turning on the device I noticed it said ''safe mode'' (Android NAND (sensation rom)). At first I didn't think much of it, because I thought the device had turned of due to a dead battery. However after leaving it for a while to recharge I noticed that after each reboot it would return to safe mode. Then I noticed that the device kept showing that it was in vibration mode --> the volume down button is stuck(not physically though). Also the device kept popping up ''recent activities''... I'm under the impression that this is due to a malfunctioning call button, not a 100% sure though.
After I reflashed it to wm 6.5 the problem still prevails. However I was able to get a more detailed view of the issue:
The windows button lacks every response, the call button does not respond on touch but seems to randomely activate the call function. The home button functions poorly. However the back button, power on button and volume up button function correctly.
The volume down button seems dependent on the other buttons. When pushing one of the buttons below the screen the volume down button is activated and is stuck untill the screen is turned on and off. However the volume up button does not yield such a result. The volume down button still is responsive to touch though, as long as it is not stuck.
Any ideas how to solve this problem, or how to work around it? As a precaution I put the HD2 in a box with a moisture absorber.
Hi. I wish I could give you a better understand that what I can offer but what I think happened is you probably rolled onto your phone while sleeping.
This is not to say your problem could have came from something else but let me explain a little about safe mode.
Safe mode anyone can enter by pressing volume down and holding it while it boots up. It allows the developer a safe mode they can enter similiar to
why your computer has it installed on it. Normally pulling the battery and letting the phone reboot clears this out though. With that being said i think what
has happened is the volume button has stopped working as it should. There are several sites you can go to here on the web to send your phone out
to have it looked at and fixed. All in all it shouldn't be that costly and if your mechanically inclined and (careful) it shouldn't be to hard to do it yourself. I
would make sure you take very good notes/pictures in dismantling your phone because if you put it back together wrong you can make the problem worse.
Ebay, listing found here has the volume button and the tools necessary to open your phone and repair the volume key for around $7 usd.
Please make sure your phone model is supported and you have the know how to do this without making things a bigger issue. I would also
suggest to wait for more info because I could be wrong as well.
Thanks for your time, effort and information.
However I don't think it is a problem caused due to physical damage to the volume button. In addition the phone was in a 'sidepocket' of the tent, making it virtually impossible to roll onto it. Because the call button is malfunctioning as well I can imagine it being motherboard related, addmittedly I am not much of an electrician .
The issue has been partly resolved. Only one problem still exists. When I push the windows button it results in a volume up response. I performed a hard reset but the problem still persists, any ideas what could cause this?
Cheers
The hd2 high level of integration can not fall. Even without the screen broke, other things will break, so the sets of sets of silicone can not throw. Screen indeed not easy to break unless it fell out just in time to have something to knock to the screen.
