About the Wifi issue - Acer Iconia A500

we all know that the iconia suffers some wifi issues. i decided to check out and see what can i find about it and i found something really weird.
The latency in my A500 is really big, but today it just droped to 150ms - 250ms , i own a Xperia X10 and it pings 20ms to 96ms.
the iconia does not drop any packets at all.
the iconia never disconnects from the Access Point-

Mogul overheats and wont charge

My mogul randomly stops charging when Im on the phone or on the internet for awhile (connection sharing via wifi) . After seeing a blurb in the manual about how the battery will stop charging I decided to try something crazy (stupid actually,so dont do this yourself of mosture could damage your phone). I sprayed some cold spray on the battery. The phone suddenly started charging again. After 10 minutes,it stopped again. More coldspray and it charged again. Its pretty clear that the battery is overheating. I have a replacement coming this week, hopefully it will be better. Is anyone else having this problem?
It appears on further examination that this happens mostly when Im running wifi with the power setting set for max range and sharing the internet connection. It helps if I open the keyboard (seems to improve cooling). It seems to run pretty cool when Im just sharing over the cable with no programs running. I have also noticed the problem when playing games or running programs while talking on the phone. I see alot of people looked but no one else reports having this problem. Ill post some further information when I get the new phone monday.
Ditto
I have two Moguls in the family. Both had the same intermittent symptoms. We came to the same conclusion. Turn off Wifi when not in use and close background apps when not in use. This seems to be the fix so far. Will a ROM update help this situation?

I doubt it,unless sprint or htc decides to cripple the performance to reduce power. =( Seems it may in fact be a defect in the design. It helps to open the keyboard when your running wifi. I also found it helps if you turn wifi power down to minimum. (optimize for battery vs performance/range) and turn off bluetooth,as well as close all running programs and turn the display off. If and when we have an overclocking util available it may also help to turn down the speed of the cpu,at least if it has enough speed not to impact the network throughput.

A few Questions Regarding the Iconia

Hi, ive decided to get the iconia over the transformer, but i would like to ask a few questions.
1. What is the max amount of points the iconia supports for multitouch, and how smooth is pinch to zoom in the browser and other apps.
2. Does the iconia have a microphone.
3. How are the viewing angles and screen clarity.
4. Does it have a gyroscope
10 all your fingers
yes ,although i doesnt find it,i can ues to record.
i dont know .it is good enough for me ,so i dont care the number .
yes ,it has.
Okay thank you the main concerns was the microphone, can it be used for video chat. Also many of the problems people say they have with the iconia is it software related?
EDIT: I read about a problem where the screen keeps coming on and off by itself, has this been fixed or is it still there and the problem with wifi disconnecting is that still happening or has that been fixed.
the mic is ok .
i use qq,a chat software which is widely used in china.
mic and camera work well.
i dont test mic with msn or skype.
in china , we dont use msn in daily.
but ,if it can be used with qq,i guess it will work with msn or other chat software.
Hi yeah i edited the post above could you answer those questions?

I, too was worried about the problems people seem to be having..
I bought a 32G A500, and the GPS works perfectly.
Wifi is a little sensitive to distance from router, but that might be my router..
To answer your questions:
Dunno - it does pinch zoom and expand perfectly though.
Clear, very clear and sharp. I can read the screen at such an angle it almost horizontal.
It has hardware compass, mine seems to be pretty accurate.
Microphone - dunno where it is, but it records for voice input quite well (although you look a right tit talking to your tablet!)
I suspect maybe a bad batch got out (especially the GPS units, maybe wifi antenna is a bit loses in some). You don't know what people have done to their tab before they start to whine about problems (failed root? deleted apps?)
What I don't like about it?
Full of apps (facebook crap, twittery crap) I'll never use, yet am worried about deleting them in case an update fails and it's bricked - this should have been release with full customisation!
No file manager from start-up - I had to go find some silly ad supported thing to install my backup file manager off the mSD card.
Some apps do't work (copilot dies all the time, NDrive is TINY!!!)

Hi thanks for the response and the problem with the screen turning on and off by itself is that fixed. Also how well do games play on it, and the camera quality when video calling how good is it?
I've not (yet) had the turning on/off thing.
Games play very well on it, smooth and crips.
EG: N64oid was almost unplayable on my previous tab, this plays it like BUTTER.
(Nenamark test of old tab was 16.7 fps, this tab is 37.7 fpds)
I don't do video calling. Rear camera is nice, good pix in low light (flash), nice pix in daylight. No tried front cam yet, not needed to.
(I have specific ideas of what I want a video app to do, and until i find one I won't use one. It basically need to do what the Logitech VID system does for PC, including allow tablet to PC video chat)
Questions and Answers A500
I've had mine for a couple of weeks and I'm really loving it...
I've done video chat with both Google Talk and Skype with many friends and many of them commented how clear my video was, sound was a tiny bit muddy to start, but with some tweaks, got it sussed out.
If you get root, get a program called Adfree which downloads a database of ad servers and keeps ads from running on your android.
On / Off issues still exists for a number of users. I've experienced it on a few occasions, mostly when I've let the unit go to sleep - not turned off. There is another thread that seems to think it's a wifi wakeup / router call issue and will probably be fully addressed when 3.1 rolls out later this month.
If you have any more questions ask away!
wifi works well ,at least on my device, build 135.
some people say wifi works better with build 141,a little update.
so i think it is fixed.
screen off/on ,it is not very often .
but ,i dont know wether it is fixed or not.
i dont notice it.
Okay I have another question how much free space for apps installation is there?

I've had mine just over a week and noticed the screen on/off thing for the first time today. The only 'new' thing I have done was connect it to my Ubuntu laptop via the micro USB. This caused USB debugging to activate which I also saw for the first time today.

Help..battery dead in 22 hours on standby?

So I had my a500 fully charged Saturday afternoon. I go to turn it on and its dead. Something is wrong here for sure because I use to go a week on standby. I posted some pictures of what my battery life looks like. Its a straight linear decline and I can't figure it out. I'm rooted, and thinking maybe I'm trying to receive the 3.2 update and I can't due to be rooted. I checked system update and it says I'm up to date. Please, any help?

Check to make sure your Bluetooth is turned off, and your wireless is set to disconnect when screen turns off.

From the pictures you've posted it does look like something is up. Awake time is supposed to coordinate more or less with Screen On time. That's a general rule of thumb. Background things will wake the tablet and work very briefly sometimes but it doesn't look like that and generally takes seconds, adding up to mere minutes in total over days of that behavior. In essence awake time is supposed to follow screen on time closely with mere pips in difference. Yours is pretty much solid.
You could be right about the update, though I don't see how or why it would cause that anomaly, since it doesn't try to check for the update if the wifi is off, and even if the wifi is on it doesn't download it unless you tell it to. Plus, you can always turn off the automatic/scheduled check entirely.
Other issues I can come up with are net' related (stuck weather update, account sync, browser sync, picture sync, etc.) but are all invalidated since your wifi use is not that bad. I'm thinking any of these would trigger your wifi to stay on.
What's left, perhaps a rogue task manager? Something that's killing a necessary task which is then quickly restarted and so the loop goes on till your battery dies. If I can think of anything else I'll post it.
My only recommendation for now is to stop any task manager you have running, as well as locale or tasker if you have those. Restarting and then seeing how things fare after a day of standby.
i have similar situation.......
battery drain on my HoneyVillain 1.2 with Richard's Kernel is unbelievable.
It is not keeping even a half day. With Honeycomb 3.1 or 3.0 it was much much better.
What i see right now:
- on the battery usage graph i see that "Screen" is eating 80% of the battery - is it correct???
- when i'm at work, where my tablet is connected only to internal WLAN Network (no internet access) - the battery is going down much slower
What i have installed (and running in background)
- exchange mails (3 accounts - push method) with exchange widget
- simple calendar widget
- asus weather widget
- extented controls
- hacker's keyboard
looks like i got the same issue

80% is harsh but I suppose that could be correct, especially if you use the tablet a lot. Following my own tablet as an example, at any point in time my screen takes more juice than anything else on the tablet. I have my screen set to 40%. Auto brightness isn't as sensitive as I like it so it always falls to maybe 60% when I'm fine with it at 40% or so so I manually adjust that while at home.
My screen follows my awake time almost to a T.
Wifi also does seem to be eating a bit more than it did in 3.1 - maybe Acer increased the transmit/receive power in the chips so people stop having wifi connect/disconnect issues? Who knows. I've always had my wifi on 24/7 and overall it never took more than 10% of the battery from full to dying. Now it's considerably higher, 15% or more depending on how much I use the tablet.
But that 80% is still more normal than the awake time posted by the OP.
Have you tried turning down the brightness or adjusting the timeout? Indoors 30-40% is fine for me though I can go even lower, especially when I'm in bed or in the living room and the lights are off in the area. Outdoors I set it to auto or to 50/60% depending on whether I'm using it in my car or during shopping. Also, setting the perfect timeout can matter too. I set mine to 1m, but a really good practice is to set it to 30s and just set your browser or media player to keep it awake while in use. I'm too lazy to do those things
Neoprimal, thanks for the response! I just got home from work, and come greeted with what I suppose is the 3.2 update(~357mb). Now I don't know if that is my issue or not but it could have been. I'm rooted but stock everything. Am I okay to download this 3.2 update?

Quick suggestion.
Try changing ROM maybe it will solve your problem.
Neoprimal, thanks for your answer.
I reflashed my iconia back to 3.1 - honeyvillain 1.05a and i have no more battery drain issue.
Screen battery usage is as well at level about 80% so as you said it seems to be normal.
I tried as well other 3.2 cooked roms like taboonay or revolver port - everywhere i got unbelievable high battery drain.
So for me it looks like 3.2 issue.
You can be right with higher wifi power consumption in terms of better signal with honeycomb 3.2.
With3.2i had all the times all stripes blue - with 3.1 signall seems to bea little weaker but anyways strong enough for the internet.

Hey Proxonic, as you can see it can't be a '3.2 issue' because I'm on 3.2 and I don't have the issue.

I barely used my tablet this week because my wife asked me to 'break in' her Touchpad. The brand new one she got had a massive screen problem and we didn't discover it until days later because she never used it much during the week. Pray this never happens to your A500!
Anyway, this is showing that I have my wifi off when the screen is off - the screen on times are generally when I use the tablet to start music, usually before heading to bed.
Most of the awake time is the music playing, but some is probably IM programs and apps looking for internet. I use either google music, pandora/tunein radio/iheartradio or 2player Network Music Player; the radios and 2player NMP use wifi while I've cached a couple playlist or 2 worth of google music to the tablet. I also ran a test for another thread where person(s) reported their Acer Media app turning music off when the screen goes off, I suspect that'd be that long block of awake time without wifi.
Point is though, that I don't think 3.2 has a battery drain issue. Not in regards to while the tablet is sleeping/hibernating anyway. It sounds like maybe you just have some app gobbling up either cpu cycles or something else causing it.
Glad you at least got it fixed with the ROM though.
P.S The touchpad screen, btw looks like this...keep in mind, this is on a good day. When it got bad it was just a huge black block or tons of moving lines. Did a factory reset using Webdoctor and that didn't fix it. The replacement we got seems to be fine so far. The picture's really bad, sorry - took it in the car at a shopping center.

I have the same issue I am 100% stock on mine and ever since the 3.2 update i will have it fully charged at 8am and at 8 pm I am down to 20% and i never touched it the thing just sat in my bag while I was at work. and i have a 100% uptime. I don't use task mangers and have no idea what is draining it.

That definitely sounds like a rogue application.
Any app in your accounts and sync section has the ability to cause that sort of uptime, so take a look through them. Force a sync and go through each of them to see if anything gets 'stuck' syncing. Twitter and Facebook are always suspect, especially if you're 'busy' on them (meaning you have lots of tweets/facebook posts to sync).
Furthermore, the system is SUPPOSED to close away/sleep some apps after they move from foreground to background however, some of these apps can become locked for some reason and not close (thus the definition of a rogue app). Running processes, etc. may do this. So in addition to programs found under account and sync; any app that plays media (video or music) or connects to download data (news, social apps, shopping/deal apps) can cause this sort of uptime.
I know it can be frustrating but the fix may be as simple as removing the offending app.
Good Luck.
I figured my problem out last night. On all 3 of my gmail accounts it was trying to sync picasa and google photos constantly.

Why did changing WiFi channels remove my screen flicker?

Hello all,
I am new to both this forum and Android as a Nexus 7 owner. First things first: I've been a semi pro gamer for a few years. (currently a BF3 jet pilot at world rank 20) My vision is extremely sensitive to movement, color and changes in brightness. I can tell you what Hz a crt is running at from a glance and see very easily when any sort of interference is coming into an LCD. I stare at screens a lot. I only state this because I am hyper sensitive to these things as opposed to people who turn on lux and think the problem is gone because the filters make it less visible.
I've owned three Nexus 7s so far. The first one had flicker that was easily visible in Gmaps and Chrome. The second one's accelerometer was grossly defective so it didn't even get screen tests. The third one came off the truck fresh on Friday and when tested (download going, 0 backlight, auto adjust and wifi at 2 bars) in Gmaps it had a slight flicker to it. Almost a pulse more than a full flash. I figured that's as good as these are going to get so I kept it. I applied the tape mod (electrical) and it lessened the duration of the flicker but didn't get rid of it. I had to compensate by adding brightness like everyone does but even then I could see the back light making pulse changes extremely faintly on white screens. I've seen a couple of others here with keen vision who noticed the same thing. It's not like a brightness change but more like a distortion. I'd say most normal folks wouldn't even notice it but for me it was an annoying itch reminding me of the fault. Because of that I tried the suggestion of changing the WiFi channel.
I went from channel 6 (2.437Ghz) to 11 (2.462Ghz) and instantaneously on reconnect the pulse was gone. I began testing again in darkness, zero backlight, auto adjust, large download going, wifi at 1-2 bars and scrolling like a maniac on Gmaps. Result: Absolute zero pulse, flash or distortion... And this is a result confirmed by someone hyper sensitive to any imperfections at all.
I'd like to know why this happens from any of you tech lords here. If flicker is a hardware issue caused by bad soldier as some claim, why would wifi channel remove the issue? As most of you know, channel 6 is default on a lot of US routers and if you travel with the N7 without using hotspot or etc, six will return to cause issues. Is the Ghz jump from .437 to .462 large enough to actually affect hardware to that degree? I ask because it seems to me that this could be something fixed by software updates.
Making the N7 perfect at home where I control the channel is one thing, but on traveling I fear old channel 6 will sneak up on me again. What do you guys think? Might this really be software after all? And if it is, do you think Asus or Google would even take the time to fix it?
I'm not sure really. I have my router set to channel 10 and I had the screen flickering! What fixed it for me was using Lux Dash app, I think it's a problem with the auto. brightness acting up, but not sure.
I had flickering on channel 2, replaced my unit and then had no flickering while still on channel 2.
The common consensus is that flickering happens when you have a weak signal, if you change channels to one that doesn't have any interference, you'll see an improvement.
So I'd assume your flickering potential is still there, you just now have a signal strong enough not to trigger it.

Thanks for the reply. The only problem with that idea is that part of the testing I did was dropping the signal purposefully to one bar on the Nexus. So both signals were being extremely weakened. I live in an area where my wifi is the only wireless network in range so would interference be an issue in the first place?

--------------------------------------physically perfect but same bad wifi
5B0300-------[32GB]---------[1]-------ordered from Canada (shipped from Mississauga, ON) RMA'd
-------------------------------------------last Friday because had to reboot tablet (froze) and upon
------------------------------------------ reboot, persistent screen issues as reported by
-------------------------------------------many (swipes registered as tap, impossible to use multi fingers
------------------------------------------as 2nd finger is registered on and off, screen bounces back in
------------------------------------------opposite direction of swipe,etc.). No issues connecting to WiFi,
------------------------------------------5Ghz speeds are decent, 2.4Ghz speeds are ridiculous
-----------------------------------------1-2 Mbps downloads in the same room as router, few feet away).
-----------------------------------------Range of WiFi also seems to be much less than any other I tried
-----------------------------------------(Macbook Pro, iPad 3, One m8, Xperia Z3) receiving
---------------------------------------- RMA unit tomorrow (Dec 22nd) will update post.
5B0400-------[32GB]---------[4]-------[1]good WiFi and good screen, no problems.
-------------------------------------------[2]no issues so far, will report.
-------------------------------------------[3]Last update on my 5B0400:
------------------------------------------DEAD, hard drive corrupted after 6 days of use.(see post on
------------------------------------------troubleshoot subforum) Returned it to Google Store within
------------------------------------------Buyer Remorse Period..
-----------------------------------------The pixel c is so far the most unreliable device i've had. I never
-----------------------------------------had these problems with my previous nexus 10.
-----------------------------------------[4] poor bluetooth range. clear line of sight is 10 feet.
-----------------------------------------[5] Wifi bug ==> rma !
5B0500-------[32GB]------------------[1]aside from the fact that the Pixel C seems to have the worst
-------------------------------------------WiFi antenna in the known universe, this one has been flawless
------------------------------------------so far. Not one single unexpected reboot
------------------------------------------[2] display issue. complete right side of display is defective.
5B1200-------[64GB]---------[3]-------[1]good WiFi, good screen, no KB to test
-------------------------------------------[2]Mine has the dropping wifi issue. It also has some problems
------------------------------------------to recognize touches and gestures. The gravity of this issue
------------------------------------------varies alot. The third day using the Pixel C was the worst. Later
------------------------------------------it became better, but it still isn't perfect. Aditionally sometimes
------------------------------------------I'm not able to wake the tablet after it was idle
-----------------------------------------for some time. In this case I have to force reboot it.
-----------------------------------------Happend about four times now (using the Pixel C for two
----------------------------------------- weeks). Gonna return it after the holidays.
----------------------------------------[3]did not even want to turn on past the bootanimation. RMA is
---------------------------------------under way
5B1400-------[xxxx]---------[1]-------Keyboard is a big lagging yes, but for example, more on Firefox
-----------------------------------------than on Gmail.
-----------------------------------------My router is a Sagem Livebox Play (french people will see...)
-----------------------------------------I have, at best, 17/18m for the internet.
-----------------------------------------I did few tests, with Wifi Analyzer, Speedtest and speedof.me :
-----------------------------------------on 2,4Ghz, Pixel C is bad in my bedroom, 8m from router. It has
--------------------------------------- -70db signal, same as my old
-----------------------------------------Nexus 4. The N4 keeps a 12/13m speed, the Pixel barely hits 2m.
----------------------------------------Oh, and it doesn't finish the speedof.me test. Next to the router
---------------------------------------reaches 15m speed (speedtest) but... goes down
--------------------------------------after 5s around 3m. The speedof.me test
--------------------------------------gives me between 2 and 3m.
--------------------------------------on 5Ghz... Pixel C reaches 17m speed on speedtest, on speedof.me,
--------------------------------------ANYWHERE in the flat, even with -70db
5B1600---------[32GB]-------[1]------My replacement Píxel 32GB has the serial number 5B1600.arrived
-----------------------------------------today, no issues yet.
-----------------------------------------Does not have the screen clicking noise my previous píxel had.
-----------------------------------------It seems i have the first 5B1600 here, I hope it does not have
----------------------------------------issues
5B1700-------[32GB]---------[3]------[1]They both have same problem couldn't connect to 5ghz
-----------------------------------------network unless i change router to channel 44, which I've never
-----------------------------------------had to do with any of my 5 nexus devices. The range on it is also
----------------------------------------shocking. I did a comparison to my nexus 6 and nexus 10 and the
----------------------------------------pixel couldn't get the 5ghz in my room but the other two
----------------------------------------devices could and on 2.4. the pixel would only get half
----------------------------------------strength where the other two would be full. My room is not 4
---------------------------------------meters from-the router. Asus rt-68u.
---------------------------------------[2]random reboots. Many many reboots on M, and a few on N2
---------------------------------------Wiped the device and set up as a fresh device, but still get
---------------------------------------random reboots.
---------------------------------------[3] display issue, color banding on all backgrounds.
5B190----------[64GB]---------------LEDs on the cover are different brightness and occasionally get
----------------------------------------terrible screeching feedback when making calls via VOIP.
5B2000-------[64GB]---------[1]-------wifi is not bad but touchscreen problems come after +/- 2 days
----------------------------------------of normal use. After a reboot in safe mode, problems disappear
---------------------------------------for 2 days..
5B2300-------[64GB]---------[2]-------both touchscreen and wifi issues present Slow Wifi on 2.4ghz
-------------------------------------------band. (4x to 10x slower download speeds compared to Nexus
--------------------------------------------6p testing at the same time on the same network)
5B2400-------[32GB]---------[1]-------1) Slow Wifi Problem: Through Walls (193ms, 2.59mbps down,
-------------------------------------------7.88mbps up) compared to a Nexus 6
-------------------------------------------(3ms, 29.5mbps down, 51.79mbps up)-Of course, the Pixel C
-------------------------------------------software related performance issues are here. Regarding
------------------------------------------touchscreen responsiveness, I haven't felt any missed touches
-----------------------------------------however the touch gestures don't seem to be optimized for
----------------------------------------the Pixel C at all.
5B2500-------[32GB]---------[1]-------OK with 2 walls between tablet and wifi access point i have
------------------------------------------problems
-------------------------------------------Speedtest:
-----------------------------------------------------Ping-------------Download--------------Upload

--------------------------------------Nexus 10 --------5-------------------50,1-------------------11,1
--------------------------------------Pixel C----------6-------------------20,8-------------------10,8
--------------------------------------Edit: The Pixel C also needs a lot more time to connect with wifi
5B300--------[32GB]---------[2]-------[1]have touch screen issues like swipes responding as touches
------------------------------------------and when they do swipe it's chittery, but Wi-fi speed is fine.Wi

-----------------------------------------main issues
-----------------------------------------[2]no random reboots on MM.Many Many reboots on N2
610700--------------------------------no problems. Android 6.0.1 - March Patch.
612300--------------------------------No touchscreen issue (after I updated from stock). WiFi was
---------------------------------------never an issue, even in the upstairs room on the other side of the
---------------------------------------house away from the router where my nexus 10 struggled. As for
--------------------------------------the corrupt hd issues, I have a feeling it has something to do
--------------------------------------with magnets, but I don't have the keyboard and I don't
---------------------------------------plan on testing that theory. Fwiw I'm running the n preview and
---------------------------------------everything has been great aside from the expected bugs on the os
---------------------------------------side of things.
61250--------------------------------yellow tint bottom of screen.
612600 -------(64GB) -------------Perfect device, Wifi is OK, screen is OK.
6127----------------------------------Received mine 2 hours ago. It's a 64GB I still need tot try it out
--------------------------------------and test.Speedtest was promising
--------------------------------------with 25Mbps higher then my Nexus 10
--------------------------------------I have very mixed results going from 173Mbps to 6Mbps.
--------------------------------------1st try 10m with 2 doors in between @ 37Mbps.
--------------------------------------2nd try @ 84Mbps.
--------------------------------------1st try upstairs around 10m @ 34Mbps
--------------------------------------2nd try @ 69Mbps
--------------------------------------Upload speed is capped with my ISP at 12Mbps so I always get this
--------------------------------------speed
61300 --------------------------------Perfect. No gaps or creaking and wifi is fine. Success at last.
620100--------------------------------gap between glass and metal case under the power button,
----------------------------------------except this one is longer along that top edge before it meets like
----------------------------------------it does around the rest of the tablet. Google escalated...
--------------------------------------Will see what happens. Otherwise, fine with wifi and no screen
---------------------------------------issues or clicking!
6202000xx------[32GB]--------[3]------[1]Perfect. No WiFi issues, no touchscreen issues. I have
--------------------------------------------noticed chrome fails to scroll a pasge sometimes, -but that's a
--------------------------------------------browser bug, not a touchscreen bug.
--------------------------------------------[2] No issues
--------------------------------------------[3] 64GB. wifi issue. also clicking sounds from pressing on display.
-------------------------------------------[4] - random reboots, RMA
62030---------------------------------I've just got a 32gb in UK with dev discount C1502W 62030 no
----------------------------------------issues so far with 2 days of use as tablet only no keyboard. It's a
----------------------------------------monster eats media and web pages all day long like nothing
----------------------------------------happened!
Miscellaneous Comments----------------Router in the basement, so through one floor and its in a
-----------------------------------------------separate closed room. Pixel C 22 ms, 5.1 MBS dwn, .73 mbs
-----------------------------------------------up. Nexus 6p, 19 ms, 5.9 MBS down, .68 mbs up.
-----------------------------------------------Yes my DSL sucks as I'm in the country. But my Pixel that
-----------------------------------------------arrive today does not seem to have the WiFi issue.
It certainly feels like most if not all have wifi and or touchscreen issues but I'll throw down:
1st Pixel C 32GB: 5A300
2nd Pixel C 32GB: 5A300
Both had wifi download issues and this second one has now developed a nice case of the touchscreen jitters. (fixed by booting into and back out of safe mode)
I wonder if the Pixel team is the party rerouting the RMAs once they get with UPS. They need to do something here...

Nope! No typo and I did find it a bit odd that ours are different this early on. I saved my RMA conversation with the google rep and that is how I confirmed my past serial number. So both of mine came from the same batch.
Is yours 32GB or 64GB? Perhaps that is it.
5A2300 here as well. I've had occassional touchscreen and keyboard issues. Haven't seen any problems with Wi-Fi as of yet, although that doesn't mean they don''t exist. I just might not have noticed them.
64GB model, if that makes a difference.
5A2000 32GB here. No problems with wifi or touchscreen.
5A2200 64GB
I have the occassional system lag that clears after a reboot and had a slow WiFi connection until I assigned my Pixel C a static IP address. I can't remeber where it shipped from.

it seems google is definitely re routing to get a closer look at the units. i want this device to succeed so it is crystal clear that google needs get hands on and try to
figure out what the problems are, what needs to be done to get it fixed and try to keep as many of those who bought the unit happy.

Very true! They have until the 21st of January for me.
Mine is 5B020
I only had wifi dropping issues which I've explained in the other thread how I fixed it.

To you guys and gals with good wifi, are you testing this from around 20-30 feet away on a different floor and or rooms away? The wifi issue is only at a reasonable distance through a wall or two or a floor. Again, away from the router and not close to it. Thanks for any info.
5B2000 - 64Gb - wifi is not bad but touchscreen problems come after +/- 2 days of normal use. After a reboot in safe mode, problems disappear for 2 days...

5A290 64GB model. No issues at all.
At initial start Touch not responsive as expected....but after update gone and no issues with wifi or lag.
5B2300 64GB both touchscreen and wifi issues present
First one 5A190 had chipped bezel and bad wifi, second one 5B020 physically perfect but same bad wifi ...
5A2800 on RMA'ed device, thus far I get slower download speeds issue (for lack of better words) but thus far no touchscreen issues, although I have kept the device in landscape since getting this as that appears to be a possible root cause.
The original was a 5A110 and has terrible touchscreen issues, out of the box really
