So I finally gave up waiting on Motorola and switched my UK Wifi to the US rom. I unlocked, flashed the relevant images and did not relock; then got the OTAs for 3.1 and 3.2. Everything seemed fine but now I've noticed the battery is dropping significantly quicker now with the same usage. I've also checked the battery usage and noticed that there is no "Tablet Idle" entry, so does that mean its constantly staying awake? And does anyone know how to fix it?

my battery life improved with 3.2
I did exactly the same, install the stock US rom on my non-US xoom and update to 3.1 then 3.2, and I noticed the same battery life drop.
I noticed that my Xoom was staying awake pretty much the whole time the screen was off so tried uninstalling a few apps and sure enough that solved it. If you have the CNN app then try removing that for starters

Any one having problems with there battery after the update. Android system useing 66% of my battery on idle. Never had battery problems before but after the update. Major battery issues. Anyone else having problems

I have the same issue. Full re-charge last night. It was in sleep mode for 4 hours and it was at 93%. Checked battery usage, and Google Maps was at 27% - Display 30%.
Seems odd to me since i never opened up GMaps.
Maps has been OK for me. But drained 40% in 5 hours with no use
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
you guys all stock rom? or oc?
Mine was even better. the first night after the 3.1 upgrade it stayed at 100% for couple of hours...
in fact now even with oc tiamat 1.4.2 kernel, it is 1% / hour if very light use, 10%-15%/hour if watching videos.
Stock here. auto-screen brightness. no task killers. Only change post 3.1, was buying Bang Bang Racing.
Stock haven't changed anything

Just the update

Sorry, mine was wifi xoom. How about yours? 3G model?
after the initial 3.1 upgrade i did feel like my battery was dying fast but I did not have to charge the Xoom From Thursday Night until Sunday Night and I used it all weekend.
With Tiamat installed and SetCPU lowering CPU usage while screen is off, I dont think I'll ever need to charge my xoom again

Sorry my experience may not speak for 3G users.
My 3G Xoom depletes itself at about 3 times the speed of my ipad...playing angry birds or simply reading rss news feeds. From 100% to 29% in a few hours.
Do you guys have any background updates running? I have the wifi xoom and mine last 2 days with medium usage with background updates on.... just curious...
Sent from my HTC Evo
Nope no updates. So weird because battery lasted forever before the update
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
Weird... just checked mine, android is at 18%, maps at 27% screen 28%, idle 15%

My battery drain is about the same
Ok just checked mine. Android system . 49. Screen 29. Everything below 5% what the heck is going on

I had the same problem with the battery running down very quickly. Did a factory reset, reinstalled my apps and everything's back to normal. Good battery life again.

My battery is even better after the update.
im feeling the fast battery drain too. Wifi only but I can deal with it till I learn how to root it....
Aside from Netflix, does anyone who has updated see significant advantages to doing so? Is it noticeably better?
(I may not bother, as my phone is working fine, and I have no need for netflix...)
thanks.

in addition to netflix, from what i can tell, 4.24 also fixes pandora and compass functions.
And battery drain.
Put it this way, if HTC is putting out an update just a week after the last one, that means they f-ed something up, and scrambled to fix it. I would do it.
Yes ohhhhh the battery drain. I am running mikgv2.1 and they have incorporated the latest ota into te Rom including the kernel. Today is my first full day and I am immediatly seeing better battery life. No doubt worth it.
My Pandora works fine, so I guess maybe my battery life would improve.
I am tempted just to scratch it and get the 3d next week.

Pandora kept pausing on its own if it wasn't the focused app when 4.22 came out. Not sure if it was a rom or app issue or whether pandora had been updated.

Yes, absolutely.

Definitely fixed more than netflix. As mentioned above, compass and streaming audio issues got fixed. Also, the Chase bank app works again (it didn't work on 2.22).
Be aware that it breaks 802.11n support so you will have to stay on b/g support until the devs figure out how to bring it back (the previous wifi n fix no longer works.).
I know my unit was restarting once or twice a day, after I updated. Never did before, and now hasn't "sense" the latest update.
Swyped from my HTC Supersonic: EVO 4G
Dude its an update. Updates usually means shiznit works more better. So why would you not just get the update? That's just my 2 cents. +1 for improper grammar? Haha

I am running a lot less memory usage, too, than I was pre update. Almost 40 megs less.

Ok, I put the update on, a Mik ROM with Sense 3.0 and now battery life stinks.
I might have to try the bare bones update now...

Did you also update to the newest Radio/PRI/WIMAX combo as well? That will definitely make a difference.

How do I update Radio/PRI/WIMAX on a non-rooted Evo? Want to do it on my gf's Evo.
For the record,I'm still running 3.26.651.6 , and have flashed to every new thing to come along and always wind up going back after a day or two.

Brian, why?
I am now running MikG. 2.15 which incorporates Sense 3 and 4.24 and it is working like a charm. Fast, stable, and great battery life. Yesterday after 18 hours of heavy use I had 28% battery remaining.
Maybe resetting battery stats and such did the trick.
I get decent battery life and everything works, only upgrades I keep are radios, wimax etc.

I got school at around 6 am. By the time I eat lunch it's already at 57%. By the time I get home around 5 and it's already at 17%.
All I do is listen to music (doubletwist/playerpro) and play Cut the Rope, WTF!?
Cell standy by is 46% in batter usage followed by wifi with 11%
any help guys?
What I tend to do is have brightness down to about half. Have you also tried fully charging the phone, taking the battery out and charging back to full? I sometimes find it drops down but regenerates itself.

Brightness is below half,I never go over. WiFi is on but not all the time.
Stock rom 2.3.4 rooted
Do you have data off?
How's your phone signal most of the time? It has been proven that low/bad signal drains battery quicker than good signal.
Sometimes certain buildings/rooms have pretty bad reception making it a huge drain for your phone.

This is a useful piece of information, however is not really practical. Ideally we don't want to be turning off our phones on every charge :/
I myself own 3 batteries, and alternate them (I have a wall charger for the batteries)
what ver are you using if 2.3.4 the battery issue is fix.
I get 3 /4 bars, at school right new and yea some times I get nothing, especial ly during the subway ruse which is an hour
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
Once I updated my phone to 2.3.3 I noticed that the battery life was sub-par, only lasting 3/5s of the day on a full charge.
I proceeded to root my phone (as I don't have the money to unlock my Big Red Bootloader); after installing SetCPU I took down the clocking meter 1 notch (768MHz) and the phone is stable with not difference in performance (so far). Doing this and removing some unneeded bloatware has increased my battery life 2.5x and I can go almost 3 days on a single charge.

xiEvo is correct and I've read a lot of good stuff regarding battery life with 2.3.4. I can only begin to imagine what kind of battery life I'll have once I get that update.
get juice defender off the market ultimate version is best. this will lookafter everything for you.. juice defender is a must have app for all android devices

I'm 2.3.4.
Honestly I had the best battery life with 2.3.2, IDK why.
I'm new to Xda but not to droid forums.
I just wanted to say wow! What a difference between the two. People are talking about stuff for the droid x and I'm totally lost. That's awesome!!

Thanks. That's where I got all my info before I switched to CM9. After week of using it, I'm switching back to stock. The main reason is because the battery life sucks even with all syncing off and touch sounds and a few other things done to try to conserve battery.
My battery was at 40% when I left work yesterday with only light Facebook and web browsing.
Also some apps not working very good on it is another reason I'm switching back.

ICS roms haven't been perfected yet, but if your looking for a good user experience with decent battery life, you should try DefX MIUI.

yeah, wizard's MIUI has been the best for awhile now in terms of great battery life and full functionality. i've tried the ICS roms out there for the droidx but battery life was abysmal. i like having the latest android system but not if you have to trade great battery life for poor battery life.
I am running cm9 with a build date of April 24th (build number: IMM76D).
And i love it. It is super fast. the only complaint i have is that when long pressing home to get to the recent apps list it takes about 1-2 secs. Other than that its great. everything works except video (sometimes) and panoramic shots. the battery life isnt too bad. but i have had bad battery problems for a while.
Hi! My friend's tab is experiencing drastic battery drain overnight. from 60% - 20%. wifi was off, no messenger running. only email push notifications. all running apps were closed.
If you just upgraded to ics, try a hard reset.

Its still using Honeycomb. We have not received the ICS update. are there any apps that can monitor what apps or processes is sucking up the juice? Preferably if it doesn't require root.
Have you tried checking battery usage? There you may see what's using your battery. Otherwise, there might be a hardware problem.

ICS definitely improved my battery life..
I was having terrible standby battery life on HC until I turned on airplane mode. Even without a sim card the radio was killing the battery.
If you don't have a sim card in then this is what causes battery drain. This problem is on all Samsung tablets that i have.

I agree. Same with me as well. Better if you bring it to Samsung service center. :-D
