Battery Drains QUICKLY! - Xperia Play General

I got school at around 6 am. By the time I eat lunch it's already at 57%. By the time I get home around 5 and it's already at 17%.
All I do is listen to music (doubletwist/playerpro) and play Cut the Rope, WTF!?
Cell standy by is 46% in batter usage followed by wifi with 11%
any help guys?

What I tend to do is have brightness down to about half. Have you also tried fully charging the phone, taking the battery out and charging back to full? I sometimes find it drops down but regenerates itself.

Brightness is below half,I never go over. WiFi is on but not all the time.
Stock rom 2.3.4 rooted

Do you have data off?

How's your phone signal most of the time? It has been proven that low/bad signal drains battery quicker than good signal.
Sometimes certain buildings/rooms have pretty bad reception making it a huge drain for your phone.

This is a useful piece of information, however is not really practical. Ideally we don't want to be turning off our phones on every charge :/
I myself own 3 batteries, and alternate them (I have a wall charger for the batteries)

what ver are you using if 2.3.4 the battery issue is fix.

I get 3 /4 bars, at school right new and yea some times I get nothing, especial ly during the subway ruse which is an hour

Once I updated my phone to 2.3.3 I noticed that the battery life was sub-par, only lasting 3/5s of the day on a full charge.
I proceeded to root my phone (as I don't have the money to unlock my Big Red Bootloader); after installing SetCPU I took down the clocking meter 1 notch (768MHz) and the phone is stable with not difference in performance (so far). Doing this and removing some unneeded bloatware has increased my battery life 2.5x and I can go almost 3 days on a single charge.

xiEvo is correct and I've read a lot of good stuff regarding battery life with 2.3.4. I can only begin to imagine what kind of battery life I'll have once I get that update.

get juice defender off the market ultimate version is best. this will lookafter everything for you.. juice defender is a must have app for all android devices

I'm 2.3.4.
Honestly I had the best battery life with 2.3.2, IDK why.

I havehorrible batter life and it takes forever for this phone to charge and it overheats. I'm using the andromeda kernal and OC widget. Can someone tell me some settings I should use? Or tweaks or whatever? I'm talking non-commonsense stuff (not stuff like "turn 4g off")

Turn on Airplane mode and leave it on. Tell people to call you on the house phone. Your battery life will improve dramatically.

I usemy phone a lot. I was spoiled by my hero. I was getting days on a single charge with the same usage, if not, more. I wish I knew what's killing it so fast :/ spare prts says the screen is a majority of power consumption, but I usually have brightness on 0 (its plenty bright enough. It seems brighter than my hero at 50% ).

Nexus S kills the batteries

Hello
My friend have a Nexus S (9020A) the problem is when the battery dies it's impossible to charge the phone, it won't turn on! I have tried with a lot of batteries now and it kills all of them! it works like normal when you don't let the battery die completely but it should not do this anyway, what is wrong?
I think I know what your talking about.
The phone consumes more power than it receives when its using data. Do if your at 5% and charging, but also using the internet. You will last for mere minutes.
Best thing to do is to simply let it charge and not touch it when its doing so. You can still hotspot, text talk. But streaming music, data apps (like tapatalk or skype) and web browser WILL KILL YOUR BATTERY WHILE YOU CHARGE.
But if your saying it won't charge. Sorry. No idea

What? That's just nonsense.
If you turn the phone off and then try to charge it with the battery in, you're not able to charge it?

no, the phone kills the batteries, I would have test the batteries on other phone if I had, but atm I just have the Nexus S, it won't let me charge the batteries when they are dead.. if there is 1% left I can charge but when it dies it's dead forever... there must be something wrong with the phone, right?

don't work.. when battery have some % left the phone works like normal... but if I let it die, then it's dead.. I can't even turn on the phone, it's like there is no battery inserted.
The phone should shut down automatically when the voltage reaches a certain threshold. Is the phone not doing this? These batteries are not meant to drop below a certain voltage and doing so could damage them.

Are you running a modded rom/kernel/calibration tool that let your battery go below the min voltage threshold?

This is so insanely inaccurate. Using the hotspot is one of the most battery intensive operations the phone can carry out. Streaming music, Skype, and browsing don't even hold a candle to it. The only thing that comes close would be navigation (and that can be even worse sometimes), followed by talking on the phone by a pretty decent, but not massive margin. It also depends on the charger. Where do you get your information?

if the phone is doing the same with all type of ROMS, then it may be hardware related issue.
I have been running various Roms since the start but never faced this issue. A lot of times battery has drained fully. With some of the new roms that are there my phone lasts more than a day with Data on Roaming full time.
I know most phone batteries will not be chargeable if you deplete them completely. Usually this happens by throwin it in the drawer and not using it for a long time but ive never heard of it happening just by using the phone. Id say its definitely a hardware issue

Regarding battery life

Hello
Long time Hero user who switched to blackberry and now back to android. I've had note 2 for 3 months now and I'm actually disappointed from its battery level. Not that its not enough. .it just didnt live up to its expectations
Through constant whatsapp messaging only (today) 40% drained in 7-8 hours. . I know its a long time but shouldn't it last longer or is 3g that much of a battery usage?
Also does charging with a 2a non official charger might affect my battery? And with the time frames I have available for charging I can never get a full charge. .does that matter?
And is pile stocking on applications and games affecting my battery? Even if they are not open? (Currently using go power master for that)

You can click on that little chart to see a more detailed view of your battery consumption. Your battery life is a bit on the short side (compared to mine at least), Im guessing the screen is the culprit. Do you have brightness all the way down? How much screen time does the phone get?
@Shei77
For me is battery consumption pretty fine. It depends of course what I am doing with the phone through the day. For example yesterday after whole day "playing" with phone from time to time I had around 70%. I am chargin it when I go to sleep because still if I have in the morning 30-50% it wont make it through day when I dont have option to charge it. Just to add, I have Wifi and GPS always on.
If constant messaging for 7-8 hours means the screen being on for 7ish hours, you have ridiculously good battery life at 40 percent..

I'd say your battery life is fine, im guessing maybe even better than mine. Im doing 6h 37m right now with 69% left, H+/3G always on, with moderate screen time and a bit of gaming.
Huh..what about charging?
Also any tips for extending? Ram keeps filling up after some time..is it cause I have a lot of applications?

As shown from your screenshot your phone signals are really bad. That might be contributing to the drain of the battery.
I think your battery life is fine :good: Usually with my note 2 i can do 4 display hours and 1 day or more of battery life. 3g/h+ always on, lumi 50% all sync on, calls, gaming and web.
This is the current on screen which is a few hours after the first screenshots
What can I do about signals? And if I have a lot of apps do they consume battery through background?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Really, your battery life isn't that bad. The 7 or so screen time hours you'll get if that continues, is pretty good!
And to your other questions, charger type doesn't affect battery performance. Charging time should take around 2,5 hours from 0 to 100, if you're far away from that, the charger might be at fault.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
Charging usually takes 3 hours for a full charge and according to my charging current its using 1698mah
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
I updated it just a couple of days ago I need an expert opinion on how good my battery's time is.
^No offence, but without screen on time a battery stats is just meaningless!
So kindly post your 'Screen on' time.
@shei77: You're on H+ and you're having almost three hours screen on time, with 60 odd percent left. That is very good battery life.
'Swyped' from my GT-N7100
Maybe a bit OT, but what I have noticed is that when the phone reports fully charged, Elixir widget still displays 1600mA being charged into the device? Also, when the battery is full at 100%, the phone is still pretty warm! I don;t remember my HTC did that? It was warm, but when it reached 100% it cooled down and was not hot anymore... I tend to keep phone in charger in the evening because I use wifi hotspot....
My battery life is awesome I'm on cm 10.1 rom with uneak kernel, cm 10.1 is smooth and great performance and great on battery life,
I have attached a screen shot of battery stats...

Still having issues

I'm still having huge battery issues no matter the ROM and kernel I use...
I have tried looking at battery apps that determine what's sucking up the battery but half the time it just says screen or WiFi. So it got me thinking, is it WiFi? I leave WiFi on, which was never and issue like a month ago or ever on my previous androids...but now all the sudden it seems to be the cause? I woke up to find my phone at 50% from 100 within 5 hours...of no use just WiFi turned on and set to only stay on when plugged in...so I could really use some help guys...

Simple solution - turn Wi-Fi off and see if it fixes the battery issue. Possible it is but to draw 50% that quick you'd have to be far away from the Wireless AP. In most cases that's very unlikely.

You probably have a battery drain. Try this: charge your battery till 100% before you go to sleep, leave it in standby over night and see how much power you loose. My 9005 goes from 100% to 96% in 9 hours of standby, which is pretty good. If yours loses much more, you probably have an app keeping your phone awake. A first check would be the location tracking settings in Google maps. Switch location report and location history off. They are famous battery drainers.

Wifi. I was pleasantly surprised myself I didn't try heavy screen usage yet, but with normal use including telephone calls, navigation, note taking etc. I get through the day easily without extra charging. A normal day for me lasts from 7:00 till midnight, with 30% battery left at the end of the day.
