Hello everybody.
I had the T-mobile Nexus S for about a year and loved it. I recently switched to the Nexus S 4G on Sprint (and still love it). But I have found that applications that I bought on the Nexus S will not install on the Nexus S 4G. I have contacted the developer and Android Support.
The developer said they were not filtering any devices. Androids App Store support said that the Nexus S 4G was blocked from installing the application due to a difference in screen density. Which I find odd, as I thought the Nexus S 4G and Nexus S were just about the same phone except one has a 4G and CDMA radio in it.
Anybody have a clue why a app would work on the NS but not on the NS4G? The application I am talking about is Ledgerist if anybody wants to give it a try.
Thanks!

They are the same screen - what do you mean by not work? As in the market will not let you install the app or it literally "does not work" for some reason.

On the phone I can't even view it in the market. On the website I can view it but when I click to install it won't let me select the Nexus S 4G because it is not compatible.
Google says not their fault, App Dev says its not their fault. :/

This may be silly but could it be because of the update for sprint user?

If you are on 2.3.5 and it is a protected app then yes. Wait a few days for the market to be updated for the new build fingerprint and it will show back up.

Is the Evo 4G getting it????
or its just for the Nexus S 4G
The Nexus S 4G is the only one to get it because it only provides one feature, Google Wallet which requires an NFC Chip that the HTC Evo 4G doesnt have. Plus I dont think that HTC will have any more updated for the Evo 4G

thank you..... I think the same, the key is that they take a phone and give you enough promotion so you can buy the phone and the year after thay take another phone out with two or three different things so all customers will want the new ones, im pretty sure its a way to take more money from customers... like the iphone 3G 3GS 4, then 4s
sorry for my english

There will most definitely be another OTA and final update for the EVO4G, but that will likely only be a patch for the recently found security vulnerability found within the HTCLoggers.apk

I dont want older phones haha, nothing more than 100$.
I dont want to add a new line or activate any phone.
Not too interested in tablets. Something that still isn't too dead and is over-clockable as the Epic if not better.

Whoever said the Samsung Moment should be charged with treason against nerd kind lol. (Had it, didn't hate it until later, had it data lock up after being in a hit and run and couldn't call 911)
I'd probably say the Nexus, only due to the nature of it getting updates and more open space for customization.

That was the issue with the Sammy Moment i even talked to Samsung and they realized it was their fault and non-user related that it forced into a data lockup and FCC states that a phone must at all times be able to call 911. and yaadada big story but anyways is there any other phones you guys think thats reasonable and good to like the Nexus S? i was thinking of the Shift?
lol.. easy there guys.. i was joking (name IS PvtJoker afterall) I was laughing cause my moment is sitting on my desk under a nice veil of dust. If i had to pick a random phone just to play with, nexus s would be my pick too.

Hey!
Thanks for the message and sorry for using the wrong thread.
I more meant yakju and co Rom versions. It appeared that GN doesn't receive OTA updates depending on the version we have. Depending on ur version, you will get it from Google or from Samsung, and clearly not at the same pace.
I was wondering if it would harmonized to be Google only with the Nexus 4.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
It should all be one version this time.
Google has gone a different route this time due to issues regarding the Galaxy Nexus release. There will be one version (for now)
Google will have 100% control of OTA updates for every Nexus 4 in the world. This time around, Google is not letting any carrier or manufacturer get in the way of their device, like what happened with the Galaxy Nexus.
Thanks for the replies.
i don't want to play the devil's advocate here but is there anything which has been communicated officially which would confirm that good news?
Thanks again.

I'd say you are 100% save if it is possible to buy it in the Play Store in your country. Otherwise, the situation for the Nexus 7 should be similar for what will happen with the Nexus 4. Don't know anything about that one though.
Well well... from the news I see on engadget, apparently TMobile in the US will block their subsidized phones not allowing wifi calls. To me it looks like a Tmo rom version to block this feature.
That would then confirm multiple roms for the Nexus 4.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Good thing I chanced upon this thread first. Was gonna ask the same thing. The whole yakju thing for the gnex was a pain despite the ease in converting. Nice to know that this time around, Google will keep to just one build

If you want accurate news stop reading Engadget. T-Mobile confirmed they are not including their UMA calling app. This is nothing new. No nexus devices have ever officially had it. This isn't news more like fud. They are not blocking anything on the operating system level.

T-Mobile has ZERO control over the software on the Nexus 4. None whatsoever. Google has not bothered to implement carrier-specific features like T-Mobile's wifi calling into the phone.
I am about it buy it off of google so i do not get t-mobile's extra carrier apps that waste my space. currently it is 350 for 16gb and i was wondering if any of you regret buying it or should i purchase it.
Thank you!
Edit: I know there is no LTE, so so battery and camera, are those game changers, if not are there any other major problems?
I bought it 1 awhile back and it was great phone. Back cracked after a week in a case never dropped or abused. That was my only complaint and lack of lte support

Great question. I'm curious of the same thing. I've used Google voice for voicemail previously while running AOSP Roms, but I find it unreliable. The messages never played through all the way. I was actually hoping that the sprint voicemail app would work or be able to be ported.
I use Google voice. It fully integrates with Sprint during set up and other than the initial bug mentioned before, it has worked perfectly for me.

I've been pleasantly surprised with this phone on Sprint. I was ready to switch carriers because my HTC One could rarely get a signal and forget about LTE. However, this phone has superb signal and has been great on the network.

We really need that visual voicemail app. We are paying for service. They need to make it available to everyone either thru Google play store or thru their website. Every time you go to Sprint's forums on their website and ask about VV they recommend using 3rd party app. Very disappointed at Sprint and their lack of effort and care to provide the app for nexus devices. Every other carrier like T-Mobile, at&t and Verizon have their VV app in the Google play store. I tried using the VV , it provisions successfully but voicemail messages do not show up.
Personally, I like the Sprint Zone app but I can't find an updated apk that works correctly. I tweeted @ sprint care about it and, lol, they said it should have been pre-installed. I replied "No. It's a nexus, NOTHING is pre-installed." They didn't tweet back after that.

And here I was thinking how awesome it is that this device came from Sprint with NO carrier branding or bloat (which includes Sprint Zone).
But Sprint Zone does have some useful things with in it...I just never used it personally so I'm grateful it didn't come preinstalled and, more importantly, can't be uninstalled.
