Mine came with about 50% charge on it, but your mileage may vary.
Mine came with no charge at all (completely dead) and someone elses email and ebooks configured and configured for Staples in store wifi...
I think they were playing with it a bit. Works fine now, I deleted all that crap.
My two came with about 50% charge as well. Enough to play with for a while, but you shouldn't let the battery get very low before charging it, as its not good for the battery service life.

Mine came with 90% charge
Normally comes around 40% +- storage/shelf life is best at that charge. So short answer , charge it.
Mine came with 50% charge......according to the manual...first charge should be for four hours...

Mine came with enough power to tell me to charge it.
I plugged it in and continued the fun.

So I remember reading somewhere that if your battery starts to lose charge fast do to having it for a long time, that you can take it to a Verizon store and get a free battery and this can only be done twice for the life of your phone. Is this true.? I'm concerned because I find myself charging my phone everyday so I'm gunna need the extra. And please don't respond with battery saving techniques lol. Thank you

Please tell me you have the extended battery. Otherwise if it is bad that you have to charge it everyday(omg!!!), you never use your phone.
Lol seems bad to me

Haha...most people are lucky to only have to charge it once a day. Its a smartphone and being that android phones are always syncing something somewhere on the phone, you're not going to have superb battery life. Ive got an LG Dare ill sell you though. Gets great battery life XD

Ok so these last couple of days I've been having the strangest problem with my vibrant. The battery litterally sucks it self on the charger. For example, today at 3 in the morning I woke up to find my phone charging at 71% I was like ok good. Woke up at 7 and the phone was completly dead! It looses power on the charger. At first i thought it was the battery so i switched it. And whattya know. Still the same problem. Then i thought it was the usb port since ya know samsungs port sucks ass so j get a new charger and nothing. Let me remind you tthat this is a recent problem. Any body know a fix to this?

Test your charger. Try usb charge from pc. With a different cable to be sure something is not crossed inside.

The battery should not drain like that period not even cm is that bad
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
My point is nothing to do with rom or phone but rather the charger or cable my be damage and causing short that drains the battery. Hence the suggestion to try other cables and charge methods to eliminate the possibility of this being the culprit.

Bought a new charger before I posted. Still draining!
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Does it also fail to charge if the phone is turned off? If it charges while off then perhaps its a software issue after all. If not then the charge/usb port might be bad. How are you charging the battery between posting?

It shows its charging. But it'll go from like 11% to 0% in like 10 mins. And yea it charges with the screen off.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Have you tried to backup and re-flash your phone? Have you tried a battery calibration by wiping the battery stats? My advice *having never encountered that issue* would be to save all your data, make a list of the apps you use regularly and re-flash the phone then manually re-download each app and do not restore anything. if all goes well and it charges like normal then your set and can if you wish restore your old data and/or apps 1 per day till you notice the problem, return if it does.
I did just that. Reflashed a new rom and less drain but its definatly.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
My next advice would be to try stock 2.2 for a day or so and see if it has issues. then if its ok try a new stable version of cm7 or miui * different build than previously used* and see if the problem returns.

Ive been thinking of cm7 but the battery life is driving me away. I was able to charge it till like 40% then i unplugged it by accident and I plugged it back in and BOOM battery drain. Its at 0% and will not rise.

If the phone gets hotter than 120° then it wil stop charging and actually dicharge. Make sure your not overcloking or ajything.
My advice on which rom if your not set would be to use trigger. I moved to trigger a long time ago after one of my bionix flashes didnt work quite right and have not looked back yet. I am currently on project v with trigger theme which is a little more like stock but with tweaks than a fully custom rom.
Ok so I got it to charge too 100% overnight and I unplugged it and it went down too 37% instantly. -__- just started working today and this isn't cool. I also left it by a fan so it wasn't hot at all.

In that case I would be sure to flash back to stock clean and then go to a different rom, I suggest Trigger 3.2 very stable in my experience, and charge to 100% and do a battery calibration. Trigger comes with an app to calibrate the battery and be sure its fully charged.
one min my evo is on and battery might say it's at 49% charged. then out of no where, my phone will cut off and when i turn it back on, sometimes its completely dead. sometimes, it's showing 2-4% battery life left.
WTF is going on?
Is it a stock battery from sprint/htc or one you got from eBay or any other seller?

Ive been purchasing 2000mha batteries from eBay and they have been working great for some time now.
I believe that sometimes the length of your battery life experience will depend on the way you charge it through out your day and the amount of charging cycles you've used during the life time of that battery.
Sure I do agree that certain things can be done to improve battery life, but sometimes... It's just time to discarded it and get a new one, imo anyways.

@Megabiteg
I figured that, but I didn't wanna get a new battery if it was a bad ROM flash or something.. but I'll use my extended battery when I get home and see how it plays out. I just that damn bulky Ness to that battery.
Change roms and wipe battery stats in recovery. If its still acting funky then it must be your battery. I think sprint replaces them for free if you tell them that your battery is disfunctional

Yeah, just did that. Think it was over used. Regular charge, trickle charge, over charged. It's toast.
Been running the new battery over a day now. No restarts at all. Guess it was the battery.
Hello everyone, I have a new nexus 7 and love it, but it seems to take way too long to charge. After a full discharge, my tablet takes more them 24 hours to charge. I have drained my battery twice to the point that my nexus powers off. Then I plug in, some back after more then a nights rest and still not fully charged? Not sure what'd going on, but this does not seem normal....

I'm in the same boat. It makes no sense. I've called Google Play support once already because it randomly died at over 30%. This last time I was using it I was at I assume over 20% since the battery level wasn't red and then it made the noise that battery was low and then turned off. What is the proper way to calibrate a battery since there are 90 million different ways if you search Google. I am running stock, rooted 4.1.1 btw. The last person's suggestion and lols following are not uncommon nowadays on xda, we just need some real solutions, thanks.
I feel my Nexus 7 is slow to charge, but it does do so overnight.
When plugged in to the charger and cord provided by google/asus, under Settings/Battery it says it is charging(AC), though once it did say charging (usb).
Hey Guys,
I have been following this thread since a while and finally took the plunge with the S3.
it was a blue s3 and i loved it.
All stock, not rooted nothing..
So i was downloading my games and apps the first day all went well
the second night, i bought NOVA 3, and put it for charge while downloading the 1.7 gb data for the game over wifi.
i woke up in the morning and the phone is dead, it shows a yellow connect it to kies message.
I dont know what happened?
took it to the service center, they tried re-installing the firmware, but no avail. finally told me they have to replace the motherboard it was fried.
I fought with them and managed to get a replacement unit which im gonna get on monday.
The ordeal aside, i want to know, is it possible this happened because i downloaded too many games(6 actually)
each with about 400 mb data.
can a phone get bricked if i download nova 3's data of 1.6 gb
cause i am going to get all my games again.
so help with the solution!!
probably a 1 off defective unit.
You left it charging overnight right, have you considered a power surge may have fried it?
It's better to wake up early in the morning and put it on charge than to leave it overnight.
Sorry about your loss though.

I don't think the game's could do anything wrong to you while downloading.
Btw while playing games on SIII take care as the Phone's temperature reaches the sky and literally i have to close down the game because the phone becomes too hot.

power surge and over charge are totally different things. over charge protection would not prevent a power surge.
Most probably just a defective unit.
I left my HTC Sensation charging overnight once, and somehow there was an app running continuously and when I woke up the phone was scalding hot to touch. I freaked out and pulled the battery and let the whole thing cool before I booted it up again. Might not be relevant but just goes to show that our phones can take more heat than we think.
