Low on space error - Xperia Arc General

I'm getting an alert that phone's storage space is getting low. 255mb used and 55mb free. I store every app I can on the sd card.
Anybody know what I can do?

Clean your internet cache ?
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App

is there any way to do that for all at once or do I have to do that application by application?

I find that App2SD (free on market) is really useful for clearing any cache, probably has a good chance of fixing your issue aswell as checking that all your apps that can be moved are moved

done that. but nothing changes. still only 34MB available after clearing all cache. and still get the warning notification in the drop down bar.

You could try a cleaning app such as android optimize tool it's developed by a member overhere
you can find it in the forums or on the market (free).

it won't even let me install that app. not enough memory left.

can u install disk usage from market and let me know whats occupying more space on ur device(if possible attach screen shot)? also let me know if ur device is rooted ??

will do that right now. gotta charge it first.
device is not rooted. just updated from 2.3.2 to 2.3.3 then installed swiftkey x and got the error message. deleted a few apps that can only be stored on the phone's memory and still getting the error. i'll do the disk usage shortly.

Without root cant really take screenshots.

Try LINK to sd, on the market. You'll need to partition your sd card-Google it-but it'll sort that out.

that's good if you have root.

you may have to resort to a wipe. this once happened to me with my htc desire, a wipe was all that fixed it

anyone got any more tips to solve this?
got this message on mine, deleted a load of apps, photos, internet cache etc but still got the error message.
really annoying as I can't download or update any apps!

Thought I might as well reply to myself.
The low storage space on my arc was casued by downloading all my emails. If you wait the list of apps on storage used screen will reorgnaise into spaced used order. I deleted all old emails and the problem was fixed.
Now my arc is running really slow. Anyone know how to solve that

Try a cache cleaner from the market.

Tried reboot?

Your thread title isn't good at all.
There is a thread with the same stuff just only a few lines downwards and the answer / solution to your problem:

The server error thing has nothing to do with the firmware, it's an issue with the market server. Started to happen last night.
So is everyone else having this problem? Tried everything recommended but its still the same

Market programs install unsuccesfull

I tried to install some apps through market but every install is imidiatly failed.

Anyone else with the same problem?

I have this problem a lot. Only solution I've read is to wipe the data of Download Manager with an app like Titanium Backup.
Though I also sometimes get the insufficient storage space error. Which remedies itself after a second try or so. Good luck. gingerbread sucks like this.

I get this one all the time too.
Sometimes it happens with me to but its random and I just have to try again and then it works...
Quite often I get the "insufficient storage" error when I have plenty of storage left. Like the other poster said, a re-try or two usually does the trick.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the ext4 mod? Are you guys using that as well?

I'm not using the ext4 mod and I still get the error intermittently.
I'm not a code guy, so I don't know if the Nexus S experiences any download errors other phones don't, but I know the hanging download and insufficient storage bugs are Android bugs, not specifically Nexus S bugs. I've seen them on every phone I've played with running 2.2 or later.
I tried yesterday 5 apps and all install unsuccesfull. All 5 in a row. Went to bed and now i try to update hmail. Still same problem.
Please help

It happens to me since 1 week or 2, too... almost every time I try to install/upgrade an application it fails (insufficient storage), I have to retry 1-2 times.
I never had the problem before. I'm on stock rom, rooted, CW recovery
I got it solved by removing the updates of the market program and a restart

[Q] Disappearing app icons after reboot

I have this weird behaviour, that some app-icons in folder (not widgets) from apps i have moved to sd via settings (not app2sd) disappear after reboot. I have to kill the "Home" task and then they reappear. The apps also still listed as "installed" under settings->applications. Does anyone can confirm this or is my device buggy?
I allready tested different sds to make sure that the sd is not corrupt.
Cheers

i dont have this problem, try restoring/reflashing
Icons are missing is always market cache. Go to settings/applications/mange applications/all tab/market. Then delete cache. then reboot. Always works. sometimes needs a couple times though.

That doesnt work for me. Some icons still not visible in drawer. I can see that after some time, several icons are added but not all. I have to kill the Home task and then all icons are visible. Maybe I try also lauchner pro. I also contacted SE support and they said i should send the phone to repair.. i think its a softwarebug. i really like the phone and dont want to sent it away for a couple of weeks. I also debugged the phone via adb logcat to check if there is maybe a fatal error accessing the sd, but i saw nothing unusual so maybe the se home app is buggy.
hm launcherpro kinda solved the prob. all app icons are generated in the drawer after reboot, but now apps ive placed in home-folders loosing their icons. it seems that mounting the sdcard after reboot takes too long and apps depending on sd having probs. hope its not a faulty hardware. ill do another test with class10 sd

Why installed applications not shown??

I've installed applications on my atrix and those applicatons were there shown on my menu for sometime until now suddenly those apps are not shown on my menu! Why is that? Those apps are there in the installed apps catagory with a grey icon and a small sd card icon. Pls tell me how to fix this? This application is shown in the media area in the manage applications section.

More info please. Rooted? P-ROM? Which application/s?

If it's all apps that you installed to the SD card instead of internal storage, it might be that the SD card got unmounted. I get similar behavior sometimes after using USB mass storage mode...every once in a while it won't remount properly when I unplug USB and SD card apps will show installed but won't launch.
Reboot clears it up for me, but wouldn't be surprised if there's another way to fix.

Well,
this problem even I am facing! and its driving me nuts!
For me, I see, all the sideloaded apps are not showing up in "My Apps" menu.
There are solutions given in "Android Market" discussions.
tried them all! none works for me!
you can try them too! (but, they look like may or may not work kinds)

Another solution:
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=107aea64cc0efdd5&hl=en
This one is pretty elaborate:
http://www.google.ru/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=6c697aef456091c7&hl=en&start=40
Still didnt work for me!
Please let me know if any of these work for you.
also do let me know, if any other solution worked!
Thanks,
sony.
I had to reinstall some apps after I rooted with gingerbreak on my Atrix...
I've had that happen too, not rooted.
Kind of annoying.
I tend to see this problem with Angry Birds. It installs to /sdcard. Once the phone formated my /sdcard partition, probably after it thought it was corrupt.

Get rid of "low on space" icon?

Hello,
Simple question: I have over 18mb left on my Legend, but still the "low on space" icon is in my menu bar all the time. I moved all the possible apps to the sd card. Anyway to remove the icon?
The icon dissapear when free space more 20 mb.
Even if you could get rid of it, you shouldn't just leave it low on space. Critical sync functions are disabled when low on space, like Gmail sync if that's your primary e-mail client.
Install one of the custom roms, you will have more memory to play with.

I wish I could but downgrading and rooting a HTC Legend seems like a very difficult job. I tried a few times, but with no success :'(
Interesting development:
I did a factory reset on the phone and installed all the same apps (via app2sd) and now I have over 60 mb of free space. And a better working phone.
