great minds and all that. delete this one please! his name is better
Pros -
Modem seems stable, Wifi tether v3 pre-11 working, got a 1mb download on speed test 1-2 bars.
Cons -
Scrolling seems a bit more laggy than ef leaks.
F/C on certain apps & native file manager when browsing through large folders
Will update on battery life after I charge and calibrate.

Gps still wonky for me. It locks pretty quickly, but only 2 satellites and eventually loses them tried resetting gps thru GPS aids and Gps status, no joy.

I'm going to run this ROM all day today and will report back tonight.
keyboard skipping seems to be fixed ... from what im testing as we speak ... and i type fast ... checkerboarding is present but i use dolphin anyway gps is the same 2 out of 8 .. rotation lag is somewhat improved but could be better
EDIT: calibrated and my lag is fixed .. half second rotation ... ....................................... when calibrating it took a minute to calibrate so don't think it froze up or anything .. enjoy
Does the overall ROM feel faster? Does video streaming (like HBO and Netflix) perform better? How about games?

As well, I am still disappointed. No Screen off animation, no fast boot, and no gingerbread keyboard.

Just wondering how many people are still seeing significant lag or freezing even with Voodoo installed? Mine was was hanging and lagging pretty bad over time and uninstalling apps, doing battery pulls was not helping for long. Didn't seem specific to any particular thing either.

Yes but there is no writing to system so lag there should be minimal. I was having issues too, until I figured out it was the ram tweaking app doing it.

Valid point.. I was thrown off by the OP's grammar. My initial understanding was that lag was experienced during the uninstall of apps. I see, now, that he meant that uninstalling the apps didn't help with his lag.
My culprit was http://www.appbrain.com/app/autokiller-memory-optimizer/com.rs.autokiller

Sorry for the poor wording - I was having issues just unlocking the screen if the browser or another app had been left on screen/running when it turned off. Sometime moving from one app to another then to another would do it and sometimes just opening something like Tweetdeck or Tapatalk from the home screen with nothing else running would do it. I was getting complete hangs lasting 30-40 sec. I don't use any task killers and had pared apps down to about 6 or 7 and was still getting unbearable lag - much worse than I ever had without Voodoo.
Just my experience so YMMV - just thought we could consolidate the issue with a poll since I was seeing similar comments in various threads but no real consensus on the issue.

After you took that off did it clear up the lag issues? Because I put that on the same night you did in IRC. Might have to put voodoo back on if autokiller is what was causing it all along. Just seemed to get slower day by day without a restart but I would love it if the app was the issue

Curious about the autokiller settings you were using. I leave it on default with aggressive as secondary when my screen sleeps. Haven't had any lag whatsoever with anything. I know sometimes things are device specific, but was just curious how you nailed this as the culprit.

I tried Curio's settings, as well as aggressive, and one other....
I nailed it down because I froze it with Titanium, which stopped it on startup and my phone started working 10000% better. I was this || close to uninstalling voodoo as the problem.
Did you try the "optimal" setting?
The settings arent the problem. The app is.
I'm not even sure why people think they need these task killers. This phone runs like lightning with just Voodoo.

Wow thank you sooooo much. I've been using this since day one and thought all my phone issues were Samsung-related.
I just removed it and for the past couple hours I've experienced some of the best performance ever. I'm sad it took this long to get to this point, but oh well, time to enjoy...
I am tired of this f**ing GPS issue, I have tried every mentioned method here, and sometimes it fixes it for a little while, but I always have a hard time getting a fix, now I flashed DJ05, and it was supposed to fix this issue once and for all, but it is worse, I am ready to brick my phone on purpose and get an upgrade to something else.
Then get something else. Won't hurt anyone here.
My GPS seems to work better only sometimes now that i'm on dj05. Today it didn't work well, but yesterday it was very quick. Bizarre.
This is not your rage forum. If you're mad at the SGS, here's the place for you: http://www.droidxforums.com/
Just wait until 2.2, it should fix everything.
Did You enable stand alone services? It gets unchecked sometimes when you flash roms.

interesting thing is Dolphin Mini doesn't have any sort of checkerboarding effect. It could be something with the browser and flash in general as I do not know if it does this on other phones. Before Froyo, the stock browser never did it. I guess we could try uninstalling flash to see if the browser still does it to narrow it down a bit more.

Even if the EC05 and EB13 browsers didn't checkerboard I'd still never use them. The stock Android browser is the best one I've ever used and nothing on the market compares to its simple interface. I wish someone would make a ROM that didn't have this "TouchWiz Browser" and just use the stock Android 2.2 browser.
If the checkerboard browser is all that is wrong then I will be very very happy. 3G data is fantastic and so far BT has been very steady. I have had no issues so far and have been on EC05 all day.

I don't see much of a performance improvement (I don't think there should be one, either), though if you do wipes anyway you're going to avoid a lot of slowdowns.
Shame about the new boot animation, though. I kinda dug the colorfulness of the last one. This is a little too bluish, wooshy, scifi looking, like a wonky portal effect from 10 years ago. Reminds me of the unfortunate tastes that gave the mod community a few too many Matrix themes.

Just get the bootanimation.zip file from one of the previous versions of CM9 (/system/media) and replace.
