Still checkered browser? Wats wrong with those numskulls?

So once again samsung fails. Smh

I wonder if the checkerboard browser is a result of the browser, or Flash.
The reason I say this is because I couple of weeks ago I got to put my hands on a Blackberry Playbook, and that browser did the same exact thing.

interesting thing is Dolphin Mini doesn't have any sort of checkerboarding effect. It could be something with the browser and flash in general as I do not know if it does this on other phones. Before Froyo, the stock browser never did it. I guess we could try uninstalling flash to see if the browser still does it to narrow it down a bit more.

When you zoom in and out on certain web pages with the stock browser you'll notice a gray and white checkerboard effect. It's not a terrible bug, but it's annoying.

That is not a big issue. Its not an issue at all. TWS bug or BT is a big issue

Why don't you use another browser I use skyfire it is way better than the stock browser never had any checkerboarding with it

Browser. It's definitely not flash. The upcoming SRF release I'm developing has no checkerboard issues whatsoever, with Flash 10.2 up and running.

Even if the EC05 and EB13 browsers didn't checkerboard I'd still never use them. The stock Android browser is the best one I've ever used and nothing on the market compares to its simple interface. I wish someone would make a ROM that didn't have this "TouchWiz Browser" and just use the stock Android 2.2 browser.

If the checkerboard browser is all that is wrong then I will be very very happy. 3G data is fantastic and so far BT has been very steady. I have had no issues so far and have been on EC05 all day.

oops did it too
lol ya bonsai is great and my dad is finally happy that his bluetooth work like it should,
They should of through eb13 in the toilet and just released this this is pretty damn good rom from smaung and sprint i think all the bugs have been squashed as much as they can do and our developers here can easily sqush the other ones if any..

I agree. Running bonsai 4.0 and everything is better than eb13. Data speed is awesome, GPS locks are fast, wifi seems to connect better.

Browser issue

I've gotten use to the checkerboard bs in the browser which is kinda sad LOL.. but here recently instead of the checkerboard, it's previous pages I've browsed. Sometimes it even backs me up into one of those pages. Odd issue, didn't know if anyone else has encountered this.
Using viperROM Artificial if that makes any difference.

Will give it a shot.
Bump TTT.

Just odined back to 2.1 and it runs great.

I've tried every rom on DK28 since it leaked and today I odined back to 2.1 and I'm pretty sure this runs better. Anyone else?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
+1 on 2.1 for me
No I love dk28 with ext4 and bonsai rom with no journaling. Phone has never been this fast before. Also 1 meter locks on gps and even in my house. Never got a lock on eclair before. I'm never going back to eclair. I'm gonna update to the official froyo manually.
Guys,
What do you mean by better? GPS fixed with better battery life with snappy speed than when it was launched or are you refering to it being more reliable than DK28 leaked froyo?

Like I tell people when they ask for what rom to use. its all in the eye of the beholder. What works good for you might not work at all for me.

You are def. Right. By the way I love your theme mystery. I've showed it to a lot of people that don't have epics and they all love it. Thank you for everything that you and to all the developers. Without you there wouldn't be a point in rooting our epics and we wouldn't know how.
Sorry I don't agree. 2.1 is buggy because Samsung doesn't have it set up right. DK28 runs smother, faster, and gps performs much better.
I agree with the OP. GPS is the only real world improvement that the dk28 roms have brought me. I like to play games on my Epic, and the graphics performance is just not up to par compared to di18. I still get the occasional lag and jitter in the UI also. But I need gps for one of my jobs so I'm gonna keep running dk28 roms untill sprint drops the official froyo.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
No way DK28 is much smoother and better battery life; however, I have not hd much luck with the custom DK28 roms. Sticking with stock DK28.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I'm back on 2.1 because I finally got win7 on my comp and wanted to test odin. Had problems reoding dk28 so I went back to di18. Works great.
Sent from my ext4 Epic 4G running Bonsai4all 1.1.3!
Yeah, I went back to di18 every time. Some of my dk gripes were the checkerboard and flash in stock browser and being unable to successfully put a custom hosts file in it and it works. I left out of frustration and went back to di.
Quantum Rom working great for me on DK28. The only thing I am not pleased with is the inability to tether w/ infrastructure mode.
Im on my second dk28 rom ive actually had running for more than an hour, midNIGHT 2.6 w EXT4, and Im pretty happy with it. I have seen for a split second the checkering on the browser, i think, but I was wondering, is that just what the browser does when its having issues loading, i.e. an annoying, but normal issue? I did not like it on some of the early dk28's, but that was with a lot of other kinks that appear to be worked out. Also, has anyone who went back to di18 noticed the keyboard dropout issue??? I never noticed it myself, but as someone else had pointed out it may be software, I chalked it up to 2.1 builds... but I THINK i have noticed it, maybe 10 times, but could just be looking for any little thing and actually missing keys. Maybe I dont text-type as fast as others, idunno. Also, w my third epic (second a replacement that fc'd on everything, but was the most solid physically built ive held), I noticed that hardware quality varies a lot, I expected this with the slider, but maybe extends to the kb? Anyways, di18 feels stable, but I wonder if its just the feeling that it is 'official'...
Good info. I've run quantum, bonsai (I prefer it leafless), midnight, ee all are amazing I just always find my self back at stock. Oh yea cyanogen nightly's are fun too.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I've tried dk28 twice now with different roms and went back to di18 each time. Besides the gps "issue" di18 is the most solid phone build I've ever used.
Dk28 has the last.fm skipping, considerably bad keyboard lag/missed keys, captivate button lag, touches to the screen lag randomly.
Dk28 to me feels exactly like what it really is. A "good enough" leak, but it is far from polished.

If you can live with the retarded hardcoded accuracy in 2.1, then just flash the new radio. It seems to work fine.

You saying flashing the dk28 modem will work if flashed over a di18 modem and run on 2.1? And give us the benefit of better gps with it?

Well I hope it is. I'm on miui right now so I can't really check. But being on it right now, there haven't been any checkerboard problems so far and I've been surfing the web for about an hour.
What is the differences between the two? Is the MIUI browser the EB13 browser, but optimized somehow? The EB13 browser is amazingly fast and awesome except for the checkerboarding, so I would love to know that nothing else is changed other than the checkerboarding issue being fixed.
Dolphin HD
I've been using Dolphin HD Browser, but I like the stock one better[because it feels faster in my opinion]--except for the checker-boarding.
Try Dolphin HD browser. I don't use the stock one any more after using Dolphin.
Being able to set the user client mode is great for a lot sites that always try to push you to mobile versions.
Isn't the MIUI browser dependent on the MIUI framework?

EG22 bug thread

figured i'd start this up for people on the fence. i'm odinging now
2 threads, same purpose, SAME TIME!!! Awesome.
great minds and all that. delete this one please! his name is better
Pros -
Modem seems stable, Wifi tether v3 pre-11 working, got a 1mb download on speed test 1-2 bars.
Cons -
Scrolling seems a bit more laggy than ef leaks.
F/C on certain apps & native file manager when browsing through large folders
Will update on battery life after I charge and calibrate.

still some rotation lag but not as bad
Gps still wonky for me. It locks pretty quickly, but only 2 satellites and eventually loses them tried resetting gps thru GPS aids and Gps status, no joy.

I'm going to run this ROM all day today and will report back tonight.
keyboard skipping seems to be fixed ... from what im testing as we speak ... and i type fast ... checkerboarding is present but i use dolphin anyway gps is the same 2 out of 8 .. rotation lag is somewhat improved but could be better
EDIT: calibrated and my lag is fixed .. half second rotation ... ....................................... when calibrating it took a minute to calibrate so don't think it froze up or anything .. enjoy
Does the overall ROM feel faster? Does video streaming (like HBO and Netflix) perform better? How about games?

I am extremely satisfied with EG22, I couldn't stand EF02 at all.
As well, I am still disappointed. No Screen off animation, no fast boot, and no gingerbread keyboard.

Yea I love this ROM but I guess its not compatible with Ripple Lock Screen yet or something. When I use it my screen takes like 6 seconds to unlock, really strange as this was not happening with 2.2.1.
Other than that, PERFECT

Yup I did a fresh install. I have both the ripple lock and the agile lock (sense 3.0) and they both do the same. I found out that they ado work but to I have to use the volume to show unlock (weird) If I hit the power button nothing happens at all.
Been using it for about an hour now...so far so good. No problems and as fast and lite as I remember.
Gonna stick with it as my normal runner if no issues creep up.

To be honest with you I only tried CM7 for about an hour. I just didnt like the look and layout, plus it seems like it comes with so much more things installed (bloat to me). During that hour it did not feel any faster nor smoother than Oxygen. Been using Oxygen since 2.2.1 till now and I have NEVER got a reboot or freeze. Check it out man, you wont be dissapointed.
