If you are sick of that...try pushing the browser.apk from the miui rom.

Well I hope it is. I'm on miui right now so I can't really check. But being on it right now, there haven't been any checkerboard problems so far and I've been surfing the web for about an hour.

What is the differences between the two? Is the MIUI browser the EB13 browser, but optimized somehow? The EB13 browser is amazingly fast and awesome except for the checkerboarding, so I would love to know that nothing else is changed other than the checkerboarding issue being fixed.

Dolphin HD
I've been using Dolphin HD Browser, but I like the stock one better[because it feels faster in my opinion]--except for the checker-boarding.

Try Dolphin HD browser. I don't use the stock one any more after using Dolphin.
Being able to set the user client mode is great for a lot sites that always try to push you to mobile versions.

Isn't the MIUI browser dependent on the MIUI framework?

Browser issue

I've gotten use to the checkerboard bs in the browser which is kinda sad LOL.. but here recently instead of the checkerboard, it's previous pages I've browsed. Sometimes it even backs me up into one of those pages. Odd issue, didn't know if anyone else has encountered this.
Using viperROM Artificial if that makes any difference.

This doesn't fix ur issue, but u should try the new Miren browser. Its pretty nice.

Bump TTT.

Reason not to upgrade to 2.2

2.2 has a major bug with slow web browsing in pages with pictures. Scrolling becomes so choppy it feels like I'm using G1 or MyTouch3G. This is with flash turned off.
2.1 was smooth as butter when scrolling or viewing web pages with pictures. Better than an iPad and better than any other mobile device. 2.2 takes a huge step backwards. I'm going back to 2.1 Bionix Final.
I have definitely encounter the bug you are talking about. However, 2.2 gives so much more benefits over 2.1 that I am willing to over look this little "bug".
Flash = never have to convert video again
Javascript performance doubled compare to 2.1
Gmail/Market/Youtube/Google Apps updates
UI tweaks - button placed in more accessible places.
Chrome to Phone
I thought I was the only one with the web browser lag when I switch to 2.2. Yea, turn off flash helped but still lag a little
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Is this normal with all 2.2 devices? Or just ours based on the leaks?

nero v3 with vodoo and no web browser lag here.
I'm also using Nero v3 w/Voodoo and here are the key benefits-
Crazy good battery life with or without lagfix (Idle for 8 hours and uses <10% battery)
Speed/smoothness is unmatched (quadrant score 1500+ if anybody cares)
Flash is superb
Porn
I can't find any benefits with 2.1 over 2.2, TBH.

You have to account for Flash in 2.2. Also if you don't like the choppiness you get sometimes go into your Browser options and change your pluggins to "Ondemand" instead of always. That way flash will only work when you click a Flashplayer enabled a video or add. Try it! Works great, better than 2.1

Nero v3 with voodoo has the same browser lag. TW is using the same JL5 Froyo rom. Voodoo doesn't help with the browser lag. I'm running stock JL5 with voodoo.

Flash has nothing to do with it. I said I disabled Flash in the browser. 2.1 is much smoother even with Flash lite enabled.

Running Nero v3 w/voodoo and I too get the lag.
However it only happens in the default browser. Both miren and dolphin hd work great.
Stick with froyo, just get a different browser.
Ginger clone with voodoo no problems, with lag on browser.
Maybe once in a while when I have 3 tabs open all trying to run flash

Excellent point. I don't have any lag when browsing but I rarely have 2+ windows active.
Maybe that's the issue?
I've had terrible lag scrolling with all 2.2 roms on pages with pictures. As soon as I scroll the picture off of the widow it speeds up again. I see it a lot in forums with pictures in the posts. I'm not sure about the cause but it wasn't there with 2.1. This happens with one window or multiple.
Currently running nero 3 with voodoo.

Well, I'm on Nero + voodoo and its just fine for me, and I don't keep flash off. Pages without flash content work smooth for me, so I'd say something is going on with your phone or maybe you're just too picky.

So it looks like it's a bug with all 2.2 roms for the Hummingbird due to Google screwup. 2.2.1 from Samsung supposedly fixes it for the Galaxy S by correcting the gpu browser acceleration error. How long til 2.2.1 is released for the Vibrant?

On either 2.1 or 2.2 did/do I use the stock web browser. Especially for desktop view. pft! I was quickly convinced it was for mobile websites only. Dolphin HD all the way.

has the same browser lag on your phone, not mine. i went to several pages with lots of pics and i have no lag.
Check out this web page.

Double tap to zoom in the scroll down the page past the embeded pics of the motherboard box. My phone stops scrolling and updates every 3 seconds or so until the pics are off that page. Eventually the pictures fully load in memory and scrolling is again smooth, but to do so I have to scroll all the way through them like a slide show.

I wonder if the checkerboard browser is a result of the browser, or Flash.
The reason I say this is because I couple of weeks ago I got to put my hands on a Blackberry Playbook, and that browser did the same exact thing.

interesting thing is Dolphin Mini doesn't have any sort of checkerboarding effect. It could be something with the browser and flash in general as I do not know if it does this on other phones. Before Froyo, the stock browser never did it. I guess we could try uninstalling flash to see if the browser still does it to narrow it down a bit more.

When you zoom in and out on certain web pages with the stock browser you'll notice a gray and white checkerboard effect. It's not a terrible bug, but it's annoying.
That is not a big issue. Its not an issue at all. TWS bug or BT is a big issue
Why don't you use another browser I use skyfire it is way better than the stock browser never had any checkerboarding with it

Browser. It's definitely not flash. The upcoming SRF release I'm developing has no checkerboard issues whatsoever, with Flash 10.2 up and running.

Even if the EC05 and EB13 browsers didn't checkerboard I'd still never use them. The stock Android browser is the best one I've ever used and nothing on the market compares to its simple interface. I wish someone would make a ROM that didn't have this "TouchWiz Browser" and just use the stock Android 2.2 browser.
If the checkerboard browser is all that is wrong then I will be very very happy. 3G data is fantastic and so far BT has been very steady. I have had no issues so far and have been on EC05 all day.

lol ya bonsai is great and my dad is finally happy that his bluetooth work like it should,
They should of through eb13 in the toilet and just released this this is pretty damn good rom from smaung and sprint i think all the bugs have been squashed as much as they can do and our developers here can easily sqush the other ones if any..
I agree. Running bonsai 4.0 and everything is better than eb13. Data speed is awesome, GPS locks are fast, wifi seems to connect better.

lol haha does it scroll thru it smoothly
I been with CM7 since the first nightly. Having come off of an iPhone to the vibrant with this rom browser wise I would have to say it runs better that hat of iPhone anyday of the week.
It's good, but not as good as 2.1 or 2.2.1

why is it notetter than 2.1 or 2.2.1?
and does the browser of cm7 scroll thru the web pages as smooth sasgard and simply honey?
2.1 and 2.2.1 is have the best stock browser in my experience.
It's good enough for playing flash videos though.

Dolphin and Opera mobile fast like original browser?

first i apologize for my bad eng
I've see several video with gs2 vs dual and vs sensation and gs2 is the fastest in rendering of websites (no lag with video playing and heavy flash). I've read that this depend by hw acceleration.
Now all test i've seen are made with stock browser... with opera and dolphin is keep the hw acceleration or is only with stock browser?
Otherwise i can think that with opera/dolph gs2 dual and sensation are very similar during navigation.
I tested opera, stock and xscope in the peacekeeper benchmark, although stock was the fastest the differences were only very minimal, the results in themselves were pretty impressive
Which do you recommend my dearest friend.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Stock browser is way better than any other browser there. You can test by yourself. I have tried, Mozilla, Opera, Dolphin HD, out of them I liked Dolphin HD only, it's a good browser, still not a match to Stock but still not bad. Mozilla and Opera are pathetic IMO.
Regards.
If you want full text reflow like you get on other phones then Opera Mobile offers this, not just double tap reflow but when you pinch zoom in out it will reflow the text to fit the screen the default browser does not offer this.

xscope, not only is it very smooth but it also renders text at small sizes better than other browser making it easier to read (this way you can zoom out of most pages and still read everything)
btw the speed differences are negligible, they all score around 950 in peacekeeper with a difference of 6 points (ie 0.5%) at worst
I think you should test xscope, miren, dolphin hd and mine, opera and stock because these are all good but in different ways, see which one suits you
stock browser should have hardware acceleration and it is really smooth and fast with scrolling and multitouch...it is the best that i ever used
the main problem of opera is the remote rendering, you have to remember to not send any login details

Yeah on sgs you could pinch to zoom then double click to make the text reflow. On sgs2 it zooms out.....
yes..opera mobile is a good browser but it isn't at samsung stock level
That lack of reflow was quite annoying. I'm also using Opera Mobile. I like its Chrome like start screen.

I never had a problem with text reflow in the stock browser.... but the fact it gave checkerboard patterns all the time when scrolling made me try other browsers.
I've tried Miren, Opera and Dolphin HD. Personally, I find them all about equally as good, but in different ways. I like the interface of the latest Dolphin HD the best but Miren seems a smidge faster, and Opera faster still.

Opera Mobile.
Had Miren for a while, also Stock, tested Dolphin HD.
Opera mobile brings its own presto engine, not using web kit like stock and Dolphin.
This results in best rendering and by far better HTML5 compliance (best of all mobile browsers on all platforms).
Speed is great with ~60'000 in browsermark, slightly more than stock and Dolphin.
Different flash contents on one page can be activated separately.
I like opera link a lot as well.
With opera:config countless settings are available, including user agent.
