Okay, I have spent the past few days reading different forums trying to figure out what is wrong with my wifi connection. No one can seem to find the problem. If you are up to the challenge, I would LOVE for anyone else's help.
My problem is as follows,
I got my tmobile MSD just a few days ago. I (being dumb) started messing with the connections before I read how to set them up. Now, whenever I attempt to connect through my WIFI it begins to load, then says this page can not be found. What in the world is wrong with it? I do not have a medi/data plan, so I do not want to use anything that will charge me, hince why I am attempting to use wifi. If anyone can tell me how to get this darn thing to work, I will love it! Thanks so much! have a great day
You are not giving the details needed for people to help you.
If you answer the following you may get a solution:
1) What WiFi network / hotspot are you trying to connect to?
2) Are you sure that network connects to the internet? (Other computers / devices using it?)
3) Are you sure it is not secure?
4) How did you set up your WiFi connection? (Give exact setup parameters)
5) Does the WiFi icon show connected?
6) What URL are you trying to access?
7) Can you access any other site, like google.com?
At the moment there is no way of telling where the problem is.

I agree with levenum... but also you could try this....
go to settings...connections....wifi...menu...remove settings. do a soft reset then.
then whenur ppc is back on again, put the wifi scaner on, find a available accessible network. u must be able to browse again. it has worked 4 me.
worse case-- hard reset
I am trying to connect to my wireless at work (it is not secure) My work computer/laptop can connect.
I have not attempted to do ANYTHING to setup my wifi. I simply turned my wifi on and it picked up the wirless connection. Yes it says it is connected. I have attempted to go to many different URLs, each says the same error message.
If i were to attempt to do a soft/hard reset how do I do that.
If you could not already tell, I am new at this enitre thing.
wiki
please then you must find out by reading the wiki what category does ur ppc fall under. alternatively read th ppc manual or look up on the internet the ppc specifications to find the rest button. usually its a tiny hole where u can insert the tip of the stylus into. that should resEt ur ppc
when i reset it, it will not mess with my SIM card will it

you really are new to this aren't you, don't worry reset does not mess wth the sim card, please don't panic, I had the same prblem as u indeed, and read the WIKI
haha I am! How could you tell lol. THanks for the help!
Before you reset know this:
1) Hard reset will erase all your data and installed programs and restore the phone to factory settings i.e. OS and built in apps only!
Make sure you back it up!
(See manual for button combination, or try Settings->system->Clear storage icon if you have it to preform hard reset)
2) Soft reset (just press with stylus in reset hole) will simply reboot the device.
Neither will help if you didn't manage to connect to WiFi even before messing with your settings.
Also, see if you need to manually enter a gateway or proxy address to connect to to your work network. (This depends on the network settings)
One last thing: when your network is detected and you are asked if it connects to 'The internet' or 'Work' be sure to select 'The internet'.
Thats all I can think of at the moment...
Fresh flash of WM 6.5 over radio 3.42.50 on a Titan. Under Network Management, I've selected that "Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using:" My Work Network, since I don't have a data plan. I go to Wifi settings, select Add New, put in the ssid, click through the security settings (temporarily disabled for this test purpose). My network shows up as "Unavailable". (I'm standing right next to the router). I click "Connect", it says "Connecting" for a couple of seconds and then goes back to "Unavailable".
What should I check first? I'm at my wits end.
You shouldn't have to "add new", your ssid should be automatically discovered and displayed in the list of wifi networks.
Did you connect to a wifi with your phone before, or is it a first attempt ?
Yes, I'd been connecting just fine until a few weeks ago. In fact, the refusal to connect was what prompted me to flash the thing -- figured that starting over might help.
So, your wifi connection was working well, but suddenly, for some obscure reason, it stopped working. Therefore, you decided to reflash your phone, but it didn't help, still not working.
Is that correct ?
I know I sound like a complete doofus, but yes, that's basically it. The weirdest thing is that every once in a while it'll find a wireless network and connect. But the connection never lasts for more than a few minutes, and then when it's gone the network is "Unavailable". And to anticipate your next question: There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for when it works. At this point I'm thinking I'll pick up a used Titan or Vogue on eBay and junk this thing.
Did you try a different rom ? Could be a faulty rom.
I've tried several different roms, yes.
this happens in some roms...
go2 wireless lan settings and then go2 power mode.change it to best perfomance frm best battery
Hi, I've some problem with wifi connections. I own a lynksis wag54g2 wifi router. I can establish a connection, but after some times (it's not standard, it may vary), my device disconnect from the router and it's not able to reconnect. All that i can do is plug off my router (i take off the ac adapter) and when it's up again my phone can connect. it's very frustating, but i don't know what to do? i've tried setting something in wifi preferences' on my phone but nothing change. i've also flashed my firmware to the new one, hoping that it could fix that problem, but it didn't. someone could help me?
you can update the firmware to a newer one. this would fix your problem.

Hello.
I have a problem with WIFI on Galaxy 5 (i5500)(Europa) too. They have already changed my phone with new one, but the issue remains. So, for the second time now, I was able to connect my phone to my router for the first time, but after the first interruption or disconnection of WIFI I could not access to wifi anymore.
When I enable wifi in the phone starts ''connecting'' but then reports ''interrupted'' eventhough the signal is recognised as strong.
Firmwire version is the latest available. Router is encrypted with WPA2. Also I can access to router with my HTC Tattoo (Click).
Does anyone know the solution?
I have a decision to make(today), becouse If there is no solution to this I will change to another phone as I still can (Galaxy Spica).
Advise please.
Thanks a lot
What router do you have? have you tried with any other wifi network? i said that because my have this problem only with my router, and not for example with my girlfriend's one.
I found a little fix for my router, linksys wag54g2: open up the config page (192.168.1.1), go for wireless tab, select protection page and click on save settings. that reload the router and my phone is able to connect again.
Hi.
Thanks for your advice. There is some problem with router.. When I restart router the wifi on the phone works until swiched off or interruption becouse being out of range. When I try to connect to wifi again does not work unless I restart router again. ..catchy.. Interfering with mobile connection also makes the drop of wireless connection on my computer, so I need to restart router. I don't know the permanent solution. If anyone has any idea how repair this forever please let me know.
Best,
Thanks
Hi,
Here is my problem with my wifi with the galaxy 550.
For security reasons, my wifi network can't be detected (invisible). If i want to connect a new device by wifi, I must first set my wifi visible and then register my device.
Then I set my wifi as invisible again and the device can connect automaticaly to my network without "seeing" my wifi network.
Problem is that once i set my wifi as invisible again, my galaxy fail to connect because the network is unvisible.
Is there anyway to fix this ?
I have just read similar post on another thread and replied find it here
I ahvent installed anything, perhaps its to do with the handset if its locked to a particular carrier? just a guess and a question...
cheers

I have an answer! Hope it works for you.
My provider gave me really easy solution for wifi connection not connecting even though it was my own network with all the right info. It worked great the first time, then for some reason the phone locked in the "off" position. So I removed the battery to reboot (later learned the right way by pushing the volume button on the left and the power button at the same time)
Anyway, try this....
turn phone off - remove battery - remove sim card - wait a few minutes - reassemble - then the network should log on with no problem.....Good luck!

Hello everyone,
Last week I upgraded my S4 to a brand new S5 on T-Mobile and currently it's stock and unrooted. It works great, except it won't automatically connect to WiFi. Every time I encounter a known WiFi it'll say Sign in Required. I'll press Connect and it'll then connect and function perfectly.
This smells like a software bug to me, but then I'd expect more posts on this topic (I didn't see any posts on XDA, and posts elsewhere were unhelpful).
What I'd ultimately like to know is if this is a hardware defect and I should get my phone replaced before it's too late, or if this is something that a software update (or rooting and flashing) will fix. Or of course it could be neither...
Thanks!
I have the same probblem and I am dying for a solution. I've spent hours googling and testing different things to no avail.
I am going to try to bring as much detail as I can, hopefully someone can pitch in.
Things I have read might work:
"forgetting" the connection and recreating it
Turning off and turning back on
Turning off, removing the battery
Turning off, removing the battery and the sim and waiting a minute (seems like voodoo to me)
Factory reset
I've tried everything, bar the factory reset which I am reluctant to do, specially when people's answers on forums said it wasn't a solution.
To try and shed more light, I would also add that:
It does this with any network (so it's not channel/router issue)
It does this consistently (and since I got my phone)
It finds networks, but just won't connect
It always connects fine if I pick the network (so it's not a distance/bad reception issue)
My phone is unrooted and stock and I have no weird apps (only popular/regular ones, social media, news, and so on)
My options are set correctly (notifications for open networks is checked and wifi is on)
I really hope someone can help as I rely on wifi a lot, and this is kind of a deal-breaker for me.
So I found a psuedo-fix here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723486
The key part being:
1. >Wifi >Advanced >Disable (uncheck) Smart network switch.
2. Forget connection, then establish connection again. Works no issues.

This has "fixed" it for me, but it also means I no longer have Smart Network Switch which is kinda annoying, albeit less annoying.
A true solution would be lovely.

Tried, didn't work for me.
I now have factory reset and let google reinstall all my apps.
Until now, auto-connect works.
The only thing I didn't do this time that I did last time is deactivate a bunch of samsung apps that come pre-installed.

I have been having the same issue. I can't get any answers either. It really is frustrating. I am going to keep trying to find out. When I called the T-Mobile store they said that I could bring it back w/in the 14 days & replace it and I may do that if I can't get an answer for the problem! If you happen to find out what the answer is PLEASE post and let us know! Thanks
My wife has the same issue with not auto connecting. She has a AT&T S5 that is not rooted....thanks to AT&T putting her in prison lockdown. I think it could be something with the last update because her phone used to auto connect just fine and now it doesn't. The strange thing is that she just now noticed it not connecting and she had took an update that was a few weeks ago or whenever it actually was and now we don't really know for sure if it's really just now an issue or has been since the update....imo I think it could be something with the update.
I have an S5 as well with no issues, but then again, I have the TMO that's rooted and carrier unlocked running custom rom.....thanks TMO for not being D***'s like at&t
Solution!
Long story short, there's a problem with Android and DHCP. Specifically, an IP associated with a router doesn't die when it should and attempting another connection goes back to this IP instead of using the correct (new) IP.
The good news is to forget the problematic wifi connection, head into /data/misc/dhcp/ and remove the files, reboot then connect to wifi. That flushes the DHCP lease information and life should be good.

use a program like "root explorer" or "ES file explorer" and navigate to your root folder ( / )
then follow the path /data/misc/dhcp/ , you will find the files i mentioned there.

Im reviving this thread, I have this issue also. And with my "unlimited" tmobile bandwidth of 2gb, this bug is completely screwing me over.
I quoted this post since you just claim its Android and DHCP, if thats the case, wouldnt all android phones just not work like the S5?

Hey I'm having the same issue, only with my work open wifi. The phone will be aware there is a wifi and it tells me to sign in. I go to the wifi settings and tell it to connect it does, but if it drops for any reason it won't automatically connect again, I have to go through the same thing every time.
I read this in a previous post:
"use a program like "root explorer" or "ES file explorer" and navigate to your root folder ( / )

I have X-plore and went to the root/data folder, but there was nothing in the data folder - Do you have to be rooted for this to work?
Any help would be appreciated.
Samsung Galaxy S5 - Koodo - Unrooted
solved mine by follow this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2547356
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
It works fine on my home network and others that I have a username and password for. The issue is WIFI hotspots at coffee shops and work and such, where I don't have access to the router settings.
I have an app that does an auto login when it recognizes that you need to sign in once it connects to wifi, and it works when I tell the phone to connect, but the phone will never connect automatically - I have to go into the WIFI settings and tell it to connect manually every time.
I have the 'Smart Network Switch" unchecked, and I have 'forgotten' and reconnected several times but it still happens.

Thanks. This solved my problem ?
I had a corrupt .keystore on my S5 and the fix I found by googling was to do a reset of the device.
Hi everyone,
Since Friday my phone just stopped connecting to Wi-Fi networks. When it tries to connect it says "Network access denied". Mobile data and everything else work fine. I can technically connect if I literally put the phone on top of my router but even then it is unusable. Take two steps away from it and the connection drops. I spent the whole weekend and yesterday looking for a solution. I tried almost everything including resetting the phone, updating the phone from the current version to the B524 beta and back (rollback wiped my phone but I don't mind), the airplane mode trick and countless router rebootings. I really hope it's not a hardware issue, I've only had the phone for a couple of months... To make matters worse I ran out of data allowance and have to wait until next month for it to come back.
So yeah, kind of an annoying situation. Anyone know what is happening?
Thanks.

I did, yes. I've tried to connect to mine, my brother's and some unsecured one that was near me.
if you are rooted then i suggest full wipe in twrp , download new rom and see if it works again , if not it must be the phone who has hardware problem.... and repair shop is needed
I have the same problem, my P8 Lite Wi-Fi just stopped working, tried several different Routers that used to work but just get Network Access Denied. Think this must be a software problem.
Hey !!! anyone get this solution will please help me i am facing same problem "Network access denied"
tried also Install New Rom but nothing will happen ... ???
Hey.
Im having same problem...visually everything works (not greyd out), but when scanning, scans for a second and then thats it. Tried wifi direct, doesnt work.
Also bluetooth doesnt work (same as wifi...cant find nothing).
Tried all those "tricks" what i could find on google, tried all rom builds, rooted-unrooted...nothing works so far.
